the first Halloween event I did was the 2k10 grave danger, and to be honest I didn't like it very much, there wasn't much to do besides fighting to get the items. my favorite was the moonrise event because of the forum based battle between both sides. I got so into it I actually formed a squad of wolfs and we reeked havoc on those humans. 3nodding

The Invasion of the Zurg was great. I love switching teams via silly potions.

Also, I had a lot of fun with S.I.N. vs. B.O.O. The story and characters were just so amusing for that one.

I actually don't remember participating in the actual events until the zOMG events were not done/whatever that last zOMG Halloween event was with all the NFs. I think I probably only did the last two. So out of those two, my favorite would probably be The Don for the items! I still have most of the vampire ones, I think.

They've all been fun but the one that has stuck with me the most is the Zurg invasion. I really loved all the interactions with regular users - the NPC's responding to random threads, the spaceships showing up in towns, etc. It really encouraged everyone to get into it like a RP and I think the users responded to that starting the GIB and other community groups, it really felt like something was happening - it made Gaia a real place instead of just a website. I'd love to see that level of mystery and interactivity again.

Summer is done and that means Halloween is looming ever larger. It is, without question, our biggest event on the site and being the 10th anniversary, I thought it would be a good time to look back and reflect on where things have come since 2003. So tell me, which was your favorite? Why? Did you hate one? Trick question, if you say yes then you hate freedom.

And before anyone says it, no, I'm not mining you for ideas. We have our basic gameplan for this year already and yes, it will be awesome. This thread though is just about past Halloweens.

My absolute favorite was the '05 event. It was my first year on Gaia, and it was my first exposure to Gaia events of any kind, since I had only joined a month earlier. A lot of people complained about how to 'level up', but I didn't really have a problem, i just had fun. I stayed up all night with a group of complete strangers getting to the very end of the event, and became a Grombie (only to unwittingly ruin it with a potion shortly thereafter, to my dismay).

I had never had that much fun on a forum before, and haven't since.

my least favorite was the Zurg event. every time someone mentions it, i feel sick to my stomach, tbh. in the immortal words of Men on Film: "HATED IT!"

I'm truly surprised The Don seems to be the least popular. I loved it, and it was the first event I'd participated in since Frontier Skies. Before the 2k12 event, the last Halloween event I'd enjoyed was the one from 2k8 (maybe I just really like Dark Elves?).

Although the two minigames from the 2k12 event could get repetitive, I thought it was much more fun and more effective than previous Halloween event battle systems.

I can't help but wonder if so many people dislike the 2k12 event because the majority of participants were vampires, or in other words, losers. ;p

Sadly, I was never here for the Grunny event, so despite how much I've heard about it and how much I would have liked to see what it was about, I can't really vote for it fairly having not played it.

So instead, my vote goes to Human vs. Zombies vs Vampires etc. That event was fun, and I loved the different teams and the different potions we got out of it.

I loved the Von Helsing Halloween event, I think I would've
enjoyed the BOO vs SIN event but I missed that one.
I hated the gravedigger event though. So annoying.
