Throughout the ages, people have attributed the existence of their dreams to many things. Some claim we dream as a way for our mind to sort out our stress in the subconscious, while others say it is a message sent to us by a loved one. Some see it as a way to understand ourselves, a spiritual journey, or even just a wild combination of thoughts we aren't even aware we have until we let down of the walls of the world's expectations. There are even claims that dreams are a window to another life.
They are all right in some way.
Everyone dreams, thus they all have the potential to become Dreamers. These people, by some means they don't understand at first, have dreams have become more. There is something sharp and realistic to what they dream, something that feels so real that the Dreamer that they aren't alone. The dream drains them, as if they're actually living out the events in those dreams, struggling to remember what it feels like to be awake.
On the other side of this struggle is the Oneroi, a spirit that inhabits a human's dream or nightmare. Oneiroi are sentient beings who are drawn to the potent visions of a person's dream or nightmare. Be it a strong emotion, sensation, or memory, the strength of that dream has what the Oneiroi needs to gain strength, growing more powerful as they take the energy of that dream and claim it for themselves regardless of the Dreamer's feelings on the matter.
But why do they need this strength, and what are the Dreamers to do about it? What's going on that can only be discovered when dreaming? Is there more to being chosen than a sense of emotion in a dream?
Perhaps it is time to find out.
Two types of spirits can be caught in the dream catchers: Reves and Nightmares. The taint of a Nightmare affects the dream catcher differently than a Reve, allowing you to see what spirit has been caught while you slept (what race your pet will be). However, the details of these dream spirits are revealed over time after the spirit has been caught and continues to co-exist with you within your dreams.
Neutral (Neither benevolent or chaotic, these creatures can be either Nightmare or Reve):
Fairies - The fairies in this shop follow the depcition of winged creatures, though there may be special event fae that differ from this.
Animal Hybrids (see Reve stages above for a gryphon hybrid example)
Elementals* - The embodiment of a natural element in a humanoid form. Some of these creatures may appear as hybrids, but are far stronger and more adept with potent magic.
Nightmares:
Vampires – Known for their extremely pale skin and the need to drink the blood of others.
Dark Elves - Aptly named, Dark elves typically have black eyes and hair, along with dark gray to black skin.
Drow –Easily distinguished thanks to their red eyes and snowy white hair. Like Dark Elves, they have dark skin ranging from an ashen gray to ebony.
Demons – Usually known by their tails and horns that resemble a ram's. Most demons have markings of some variety.
Nephilim* - The embodiment of chaos, these are creatures drawn by and adept at wreaking havoc and destruction. They are easily differentiated from angels by the fact that their large feathered wings are black, rather than white.
Reves:
Muses – Beings who inspire those around them, especially within the realm of the fine arts. Muses have no real defining physical traits other than that they seem ethereal and even translucent, even when they have fully developed.
Forest Elves – One of the most common sub-race of elves, Forest elves have the traditional pointed ears and tanned skin from living in the woodlands.
High Elves – Almost as widely known as their forest-dwelling kin, High Elves tend to have fairer skin and pointed ears. Like Forest elves, they can have a large variety of physical traits.
Angels – Sporting large wings with snowy white feathers, angels are believed to be guardians, though beliefs on whether they are apathetic or warm-hearted vary by culture.
Averial Elves* - A race of elves known for their large feathered wings; some of the more mischievous ones have even posed as angels to purposefully confuse others. Like all elves, they have pointed ears, but are more likely to have fair hair, skin, and eye colors.
*These races are rarer in the shop due to their extreme magical abilities.
Oneiros is a BC revolving around dream spirits.
Reve are the spirits residing in and feeding off of positive dreams, while
Nightmares live in and shape the more chaotic dreams they are named after. Oneiros is a BC shop selling pets that will grow through storytelling and interactions with others.
You play two characters when you are given your pet. The first is a character that you create – the Dreamer.
Dreamers must be human and thus are bound to basic human abilities. Though this is a fantasy shop, the waking world takes place in our modern world, so mages, dark knights, etc, are not acceptable. Please put a small profile of your Dreamer in your pet's journal. Staff will look over these profiles and let you know if something needs to be changed to fit the shop setting.
An Oneroi is the illustrated pets offered at Oneiros. You are paying for art of the Oneiroi, not the Dreamer, who will become a minor character as your pet grows. After staff creates the thread for your pet's journal, it is your responsibility to create and keep up with it, and you must have a journal started before we can offer you the next pet stage.
