But this is what I call them when I'm talking to my sister or something.
They're names I'm not training them to.
Except for Gilan of course.
I call the biggest one Funnelcakes,
because he looks like his daddy, Freckles,
who answers to Pretzels all the time,
and funnelcakes and pretzels are both twisty carnival foods, so. . .
The other black one I call Sweet Girl because she is the sweetest little puppy ever.
The michivous brown girl I call Belly Monster. Self explainatory.
And the brown boy I call Quisty for being independent and inquisitive.
And of course there is Gilan who DEF knows his name now.

Then we will have to endevour to keep our fais happy.

...Sassy Horace is still definitely amazing. I've decided that Halt would make a good king, but he would have been miserable...and I am tempted to just call Will "The Little Prince" from now on, for no real reason. OTL

Also that first scene in book nine? I call that "What happens when you have an addiction."

But I think it's a good way to humanize Grimalkin.

but that just felt cheap and gimmicky.

Haha, obviously not going to stay dead. I should hope not. And it does humanize Grimalkin, but...still. OTL I just wanted to shake my fist. I think the author may have been pressured to stop it there, maybe, because it's the second book in a year, and so on, but yeah. Bad place to stop. OTL

I don't think he would have been at first. I mean, obviously he was raised to it, but I think his nature would have eventually gotten to him. You know...like...midlife crisis or whatever. OTL

I didn't even mind ending that general area!
I mean, I don't like cliffhangers, but I can deal.
I just found it extremely frustrating that if there had either been just a little more or just a little less,
it would have been a PERFECTLY GRACEFUL ending with a graceful lead in to the next book!
I was like ARRRRGH WHY YOU COULD HAVE DONE THIS BEAUTIFULLY.
So I guess I'm complpaining more from a perspective of "craft" than "story" lol.

I just finished reading the first Brotherband book, btw.
And immediately bought all the ones that are out in paperback lol.

Now I'm gonna re-read the Spook's Apprentice series
while I still have the last two out from the library
(since they aren't out in paperback yet),
