Our school doesn't teach languages other than Filipino and Chinese. Plus it's school rule to either speak only Chinese and English during class hours. sweatdrop

With kanji, I thankfully remember some of the characters in my chinese class so it helps a bit.

My school forced us to lean conversational mandarin.
I learned Japanese from anime and just memorized the kana alphabet to learn more ^^
