The Dairy of The Lost
I awake gently, my hair in my face, and my CD still playing from last night. I rub my eyes as i climb out of bed. I look around my apartment, still the same. I could hear Luke moving chairs around down stairs, probably cleaning the bar. I cross the room towards the bathroom. The apartment wasn't much,a bedroom, a bathroom, and a closet. I worked nights and weekends at the bar to pay for it. I didn't mind though. At sixteen with no parents, it was the best I could hope for in this town.

I walk into the bathroom and look into the mirror with disgust. My long, slightly wavy, dark brown hair was in tangled knots. I could see the recent cuts from yesterday's brawls, one at school and the other at the bar. I was one-hundred and sixty pounds at only five foot six. And that extra weight wasn't muscle mass. I was already in a size fourteen jean. My friends all said I wasn't fat, told me I was beautiful. That was kindness not truth.

I stepped over to the shower an started the hot water just as I heard the alarm go off in the other room. I ran to my bedside table and turned it off. Only five in the morning.I walked back to the shower and undressed. I took a long, hot shower and scrubbed out my cuts. I dried off and dressed in my jeans, T-shirt, sneakers, and fishnet arm warmers, scrunchies on my wrist, and a wrist band on my elbowwith a bit too much eyeliner around my icy blue eyes.

I walked out of the bathroom, braiding my hair. I grabbed my thin cloth jacket and started towards my dresser. On top of my dresser sat my switchblade, hand gun, cell phone, keys, and necklaces.

That was my signature, how everyone knew me, was by my unnumbered necklaces. Each one having it's own story. Only one, however, did I wear always. A silver angel wing, painted black, on a silver chain. It looked a bit beaten and the paint was flaking off but it meant more too me then anything because of the story, and the person, it represented.

I stuffed all this in my pockets. Then I grabbed my MP3 player and slipped the earphones in and turned it on low. I turned and walked out my door and locked it behind me before starting down the stairs. Luke was behind the bar cleaning glasses as I entered the main room of the bar.

"Morning Lulu." I said lightly. "what's up?" I asked not really paying attention as I walked towards the front door.
"Not a lot. I'm actually off tonight." He said calmly. "So how is everyone Kat?" Luke was 18 and had graduated the year before. He stood about six foot but only weighed about 190 pounds of solid muscle. He had short, blond hair, usually spiked. Despite his size though, his biggest strength was his speed. He could run the mile at school in three minutes flat. He as a huge flirt but as kind as could be. He was the first person I'd met in this town. He was like and older brother, a protector, and a friend. All very difficult to find here.

"Not bad Luke but the fight last night to pretty bad by my view." I said looking a bit more serious now, as I reached for the door.

"Well watch yourself out there girl. Remember you can't go to the hospital like the others yet. You sign your full name and your off to that foster him. And you know damned well that I can't stop'em." He said looking over at me.

"I know. Don't worry about me so much.
