What does it mean to be called of God? Well I know that no man calls himself into God's service, and I mean exactly that. I cannot call myself to the Lord, so how do I know that I am called? Jesus, the Lord of Heaven and Earth said that none come to Him, except that the Spirit draw them. That almost makes it feel like a circle. I'm drawn to God because God called me.
How do I know I am drawn to God, or what does it mean to be drawn to God... I have an interest in knowing Him... knowing Him better, and a growing relationship. Anyone reading this can have this conversation within them self or with God, but if you are having it with God, He might be calling you, so any of you cowards out there, be careful... You might get drawn into serving the Lord of Glory, the Creator of every good thing, the greatest giver of gifts that there is, the most powerful warrior, the omnipotent, the most merciful, most gracious, most loving... wow, wouldn't that suck? In case you missed the last part, it was sarcasm. I speak to myself as well as those who read.
"Well I don't believe in God, why should I serve a God that 'doesn't exist?'" If you are that sure about it, then if your wrong, He hasn't called you anyway so there isn't much point in arguing about it because you can't call yourself, remember? "Well maybe I haven't looked, but I doubt God exists because the Bible says He won't let us suffer but we all suffer." What Bible are you reading? The Prophets were murdered, the Apostles were martyred, Jesus himself was crucified by a world that hates Him (though He even rose again to eternal life, our predecessor) and did say, "In the world you'll have tribulation, but take courage, I've overcome the world," and "The servant is not better than the master, if they have called the master Beelzebub, how much more His servants?" See following God is not easy, it's not a picnic, a walk in the park or a free ride to easy street. It's the way of Life, to Life, and anyone with half a brain will tell you life ain't easy.
So, in closing, to myself and to whomever may read this: Be filled with Courage and Trust in the One who has claimed these great things and has proved Himself through out history. If you don't know that He has proved His word is good, look at it before you open your mouth and make a fool of yourself before everyone who has. I love the Lord because of who He is and I am not ashamed of Him or His word because He has proved right so far which gives me the hope that He will prove Himself in the time to come, that death, true death (I don't really even know what it means to die) He tasted it for me and I am safe now in His mighty arms. Believe the truth and you are too. Refuse the truth and you can stay where you are right now.
I think it's funny how Athiests, who believe this life is all there is get so offended about being punished by someone they claim they don't believe exists. If you really believe you are going to die anyway and that their is no God, why does me telling you that you are going to die offending you? Yes, I believe people who claim God doesn't exist while getting mad at God for being authoritative are fools. People who genuinely don't believe God exists, I truly grieve for your blindness and pray God at some point open your eyes to see and make your own choice.
