Anything and everything, won't be daily, could be a load of rubbish...
Tuesday - Treachery and betrayal at Jolly Days
American author Dan Greenburg.
Illustrated by Scott M. Fischer.
Lovely covers not so nice inside though.
Second in the Secrets of Dripping Fang series.
Amusing, but not overly so.
I seem to be only talking about books that I either hate or am not enthusiastic about lately.
Oh well.

Run, Shluffmuffins, run!

When we last saw them, the Shluffmuffin twins
had just escaped the clutches of the Onts, two
horrible giant ants disguised as sweet, maternal ladies.
Now they must hitchhike their way out of Dripping
Fang Forest. But really, what's the worst that could
happen to two scrawny orphans thumbing a ride on a
creepy secluded highway?
Luckily, nothing more unpleasant than a couple of
close calls with a morbid reckless driver named Verne...
and a rotting zombie in an alligator-infested swamp.
When they finally make it back to the Jolly Days
Orphanage, their welcome isn't quite as jovial as one
might expect. Who knew that Hortense Jolly, orphan-
age director and aspiring Broadway composer, would
be capable of such treachery and betrayal as to reveal
Wally and Cheyenne's whereabouts to the Onts? Looks
like the Shluffmuffins are back on the lam.
But on the bright side, in the midst of all their
troubles, Wally and Cheyenne do learn one of life's most
important lessons: When a strange guy asks if you want
to see the embalmed alien brain in his trunk, the answer
is always "No, thank you."

Got in to work to hear that Jerome's mum has died.
How awful.
Only a few weeks ago, he and Dom were discussing what their mothers did to drive them mad.
So now I have to work on sunday in lieu of Jerome.
Change of subject.
That bloody Sookie Stackhouse book from the last entry is turning out to be a bloody romance novel!
So it actually is a fantasy/romance/detective.
And it sucks!
The author really didn't think about planning the plot.
In fact I feel that mostly, this book is a waste of paper.
Maybe the others in the series are better written... maybe not.
Don't think I want to find out.
Hmmm, my DVDs came this morning.
But as I had to come to work I can't comment.
Got another hentai anime!
Well, it's Kizuna.
On the other hand I've also got another also called Kizuna - but it's a not hentai and is an actual Japanese film... not based on the manga.
Brooke sent me a message.
"Call me mobile."
So I rang her on her mobile and said "Hello mobile!!"
She didn't get it.
Obviously she meant "Call my mobile."
Duh.

DVD...
Mystic river
Tim Robbins was excellent in this.
Otherwise avoid.
Some good acting, some awful storyline, sooooo bloody predictable.
Give it a miss unless you want to see Tim Robbins' brilliant acting as a man who has lost/is loosing his mind.
Video...
Wow!
Another video... review?
DAAS kapital
Yes the Doug Anthony all stars many years ago... (how long?) did two seasons of this strange and wonderful telly show.
It is aimed at adults therefore is rather smutty and violent.
The best character - Troy the invinsible (played by Paul).
Always dies/gets maimed horribly.
Flacco is an extra playing all sorts of characters (including a Pope in fishnet stockings, a giant alien, the last known jazz artist).
There's Bob Down - his real name?
Bob "Hi I'm Bob, I'll be back" the American.
Tim Ferguson, Richard Fidler and Paul McDermott - the DAAS group.
DAAS broke up a few years back though.
So what's it all about?
The future, company called Shitzu Tonka own everything, they put DAAS on a submarine called the Titanic.
The Titanic is a museum of expensive art, records, expensive wine etc.
Of course Paul drinks all the alcohol, smashes all the (jazz) records and various art works.
And they sing purile songs.
There you go.

Well Daffey,

Have read your review on "Mystic River", and since I like Tim Robbins as an actor, looks like I'll have to take a squiz at this mystical film...

Speaking of Bob Downe, aka Mark Trevorrow, I have seen him at a Thai restaurant, looking though very low key, definitely not in his alter ego mode!

I do like your use of the word purile, it is very descriptive...

Cheers Lilisel signing off
