Howdy doodie my fellow Horsie-people!
Sadly for me, my show season has officially come to a close... My last show was yesterday (saturday, sept 9th) at Havelock fairgrounds. My instructor trailered Dixie to the show for me so I could ride her for the day. So I rode Jess to the fairgrounds so my little cousin could do a few easy classes with him (rode the horse down the road).
Our first class was showmanship, I got first with Dixie. But our second class was Pleasure, usually we do fairly well, not this time though. While in the class we were rear-ended by some unring-worthy kid. Dixie being a horse with sever personal-space issues, had a hissy fit. But I recovered her and continued on with the class. But not even three minuted later, ANOTHER kid sideswiped us. Dixie yet again freaked out, so (being a responsible rider) I took her out of the class because I didn't want to risk her kicking one of the other horses of injuring someone. Which if I may add was something the people responsible for the kids should have thought about before sending them into a ring. Great now I'm sounding like a b***h. I'm just angry that they seriously tramatized Dixie and could have caused some mojor damage, but didn't even so much as look back or aplogize.
So from that point on Dixie's brain was gone for the day, so I scratched the second pleasure class that I was going to go into, so I could work her out a bit more. (She was in heat too so I'm assuming that didn't help her temprament at all, she's one of the mean and bitchy heaters). So then command class came up, and I wasn't going to miss that. We went in and she turned into a box of springs. She was terrible, we came in fifth anyways, but still. And then it started to rain. So I put Dixie away for the day- I wasnt going to do games on her thats for sure! My instructor loaded up the horses and set off for a competition somewhere else- I stayed at the fair with my cousin and my horse.
She did costume class in the pouring rain (at havelock fair the show goes on rain or shine), she did very well. Since she wasn't going to do any games on him I took him to do that stuff. And Jess is just such a versitile horse it amazes me! So we got second in musical pads (it was actually a first but the girl I beat was just little, so the ringmaster and I decided that she won first xd ), a third in apple dunking (I let my friend take Jess into the class too and he beat me by one second- the little bugger blaugh - beat me on my own horse hahaha) and then I got first in this funky milk barrel race. But at the end of the day (to my surprise) they announced me the Grand Champion of the day heart . But we were all entirely soaked wet- which was freaking awesome! I though Rugby in the rain was cool, but its nothing compaired to Gymkhana in the rain.
Oh and my little cousin got her picture taken for the local newspaper when she was in her costume on Jess (RCMP officer)! She's so freaking happy!!!
I haven't got any pictures develloped yet, but when I do I'll be sure to post them . Although I'm pretty sure you people don't care anyways lol!
