My Kindle came last thursday - I would have had it sooner, but I was at work the day the courier came by.
I feel that I'm being punished!
Why?
As I live in Australia - I'm not able to access all the items!!!
eg. I wanted to buy all the Piers Anthony Xanth series and Terry Pratchett Discworld series.
I've got all of them (except for the books coming out soon), in actual book form!!!
Why shouldn't I be allowed?
Because the Australian government in it's infinite wisdom has had in place for a while now - a ban on buying certain ebooks etc, to "protect" Aussie authors.
But Anthony and Pratchett aren't Aussie!!!
So, are they protecting the Aussie publishers???

I had a look at the Dymocks website at the ebooks you can purchase - NO PIERS ANTHONY OR TERRY PRATCHETT ebooks at all!!!
As well as having to pay just about the same amount of money as you do for a book, noooo it's not cheaper, we aren't saving any money by not printing the actual book or saving on trees and paper!
And here I was considering buying the Ecoreader when it gets released.
But if I can't download the books I want... what's the point?????!

But, I am happy with the Kindle due to the fact that I can read on the way to work and back without carrying fifty million books - I read fast.
Also finally having access to some titles that I couldn't get before - and I work in libraries!!!
I'm forever inter-library loaning stuff.
With the ereader that shall be a lot less.
Wore my old Astro boy t-shirt to work the other day.
A borrower asked if I had seen the movie yet.
I was ashamed to admit that I didn't realize that the movie was out.
All I'd seen was an advertisment on a bus.
And I didn't even read it, just saw Astro boy et al and went "Oooh, looks good."
This is what you get from not watching television and going around with your head stuck in a book most of the time.

It's been a very hot week.
It's cloudy outside at the moment, but it's still boiling hot.
