Internal illustrations, ie. examples of knights and armour as well as the map on the first few pages, are by David Kennett, these are great. (Facial expressions on the knights/squires and mermaids on the map are alive.)

A lot of violence, but it's well written.
It's also in the first person. (I like that sometimes).
First in the Tenabran trilogy.
I have been putting this off, and started it last night.
Halfway through just about.
Our protagonist is Will de Parkin - 20 years old.
He's been squired to an older man called Silvus.
It goes a little into the past of the characters - at 14 years of age left his home to go fight "The dark" (goblins etc.), Will teamed up with Silvus - who basically taught him how to survive.
Six years later Silvus is re-knighted (the local ruler has been getting rid of knights by raising the knight's fee to almost impossible levels.) and Will is squired to him.
They go off with a Sword Maiden who came to call in old debts.
It'a a good vs. evil type of fantasy.
Luckett also pays homage to Tolkien as well.

We - the Tenabrans - we stood before the Dark.
We were among the first. Tell your children that.
And picture this: the castle of Ys, the outer face of
its walls washed with golden fire. Flame gushed out of
the sluices to light and to burn the Dark, and the night
was wicked with flying steel and thick with magic...

A sword maiden, a small Tenabran force and a young
man called Will de Parkin: together they must defeat the
unnatural armies of the Dark, and save the castle of Ys.

Dave Luckett's first full-length novel is an epic tale of
magic, goblins and knights in armour, set ina beautifully
realised fantasy world.

This morning was pretty bad.
Fighting with Adam.
I'm going to leave the whole get up thing to Melody in the future.
He's contrary.
You offer him (for example) a lolly and he'll say "Yes!" then "No." when he gets close to you.
Then you eat the lolly or go to, and he'll change his mind and throw a wobbly.
Aaagh.
He does it all the time lately.

I've gotten up to Dot hack 3 (PS2) and am really really pissed off about something so stupid that I have to say what.
Ahem, yeah.
They've changed the button configuration on the controller!
AAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHH!!
It's so stupid.
I got killed quickly whilst trying to bring up the menu in a battle.
I think I was able to press triangle to bring the bloody menu up, now I have to press circle.
Man, the stupid things that annoy me...
