Anything and everything, won't be daily, could be a load of rubbish...
Thursday - Ordinary Jack
First book in the amazing Bagthorpe saga by the equally amazing Helen Cresswell.
To make it even better - the series has been reprinted!
Am a fan of Cresswell - although only recently picked up Ordinary Jack.
Reeaad it!

Poor old Jack Bagthorpe.
He lives in the shadow of his
talented siblings. It's so hard to be
ordinary when the rest of your family
is utterly brilliant.

But Uncle Parker truly understands.
But could his madcap plan really help
Jack to be brilliant too?

Inequality
Just finished Throwaway daughter by Ting-xing Ye, and am halfway through reading The diary of Ma Yan.
Yep, I'm back reading depressing things about girls in China.
One is fiction and the other non-fiction.
We have it easy in Australia.
(I'm not speaking for everyone though!)
Ma Yan writes about going without food so she can buy a ballpoint pen - that is going without extra food for 15 days, at her school (where she boards during the week) they eat once a day and that's only rice that the children have to bring with them - 25 kilo bag of rice per child.
If they want vegetables, bread or fruit they have to buy it themselves.
I feel ashamed that I spend most of my pay on games, comics and dvds. sad
But then again I think I'm trying to compensate for my own crappy childhood.
No I did not get a chance to be a child.
Prob why I act like one now. sweatdrop
Or maybe I should be happy that I have a chance to actually be... act like a child now? blaugh
