English author Robert Rankin again.
Third in the Brentford trilogy.
As usual the quirky characters of Brentford are up to their strange doings.
A couple of new characters but so far no mention of Simon the camel and the rather short postman that floated away in the last book...
'Ahead, where once had been only bombsite land, the
Lateinos & Romiith building rose above Brentford.
Within its cruel and jagged shadow, magnolias wilted in
their window boxes and synthetic Gold Top became
doorstep cheese...'
Something sinister is happening east of Ealing. The
prophesies of The Book of Revelation are
being fulfilled.
Lateinos & Romiith, a vast financial network, is
chaning all the rules with a plan to bar-code every
living punter and dispense with old-fashioned
money. A diabolical scheme, which would not only
end civilisation as we know it, but seriously interfere
with drinking habits at the Flying Swan.
Can Armageddon, Apocalypse and other
inconveniences of the modern age be stopped by the
humble likes of Pooley and Omally, even with the
hep of Professor Slocombe and the time-warped
Sherlock Holmes of Bakes Street...?
Melody will be moving out next month.
Actually I have known for a while but still...
Brooke and I watched Kill Bill yesterday.
Well, I had already seen it.
And Broo didn't get to see the ending.
If Jozilla reads this we shall both be in trouble...
Nothing else interesting.
Next entry will be thursday.
I hope.
