For those of you who do wear/own corsets what are your reasons for wearing them? Is it to have a more curvy or slimmer figure? Is it the fashion? Perhaps you just like the feeling of the corset? The reason I wear a corset sometimes is because I've always loved those tiny waists and hourglass figures. I, sadly, am more of a straight up and down person who has some curves but not enough to be called a girl with an "hourglass figure." With a corset I can easily slim my waist but still have nice hips and cleavage.

It may sound weird, but even with my love of period clothing, I originally started wearing a corset in an attempt to reshape my ribs so that both sides looked the same because I had some cracked in high school and there are subtle differences between the right and left ribs that just bother me, even though no one else can see them.
And I do admit that getting that tiny waist gives me a thrill----to go from a 27" waist down to 22" just makes me smile, and I get a giggle from people who stare like I've sprouted a second head. smile

I love them because of the restriction, the way I can go from a 25" waist down to an 18" with one lovely pvc cincher, the way it forces me to stand straight and be just a tad more lady like.

I am a fan of the curvature. I'm not much of an hourglass myself do to how fast my metabolism is, but with my corsets I can be tiny-waisted and incredibly petite and feminine. Most of the (straight) guys I know go -crazy- when I wear mine. heart

I love the fact that you can reduce your waist so much that people stare. I've become such an exhibitionist since i got my corset. xd And the figure is to die for. wink

Well, I wear them since I go to renaissance faires.
I have mostly bodices that I wear. And the only real corset i've got is simply underwear, so that doesn't really work now does it?
definitely need to make another that I can wear over clothing.
Cheers, Kat.

I haven't worn one, but I do love a feeling of restriction on my ribs. Plus from what I've seen of pictures on this guild, corsets just look HOT.

Why do I wear corsets... heart The way it makes me feel like I've been gift wrapped. heart The looks I see as people notice my curves on full display. heart The many different textures. heart The rush of pressure changes when it's removed after hours of socializing (pure euphoria)

I don't wear one, I don't own a REAL one (the only two I own don't have real boning) but when I finally get one, I will wear it as much as possible I think...just so that I can that "hourglass" figure.

well, I don't have my own corset yet, but I did try one on recently. my reason for wearing a corset would be that it makes me feel sexy. I'm naturally heavy-set (big boobs, big hips) and I'm just starting to loose enough fat in my stomach area to feel slim enough to look good in a corset.
I also have a weaker back than most from being overweight my whole life and so I have not-so-good posture, and when I wear a corset it forces me to stand straight up and it just feels *good*. a little hard to breath normally, but that's the price to pay.

look a little thinner and curvier. I don't a whole lot of extra weight on my midsection, but from my ribcage to my hip it's straight....corsets provide curve. Not to mention better posture. Just have to be sure I don't have band the day I wear one.......

Initially I bought a corset to help straighten out my back, due to knocked knees I had a very poor posture which was causing a deep curve in the base of my spine. After corrective surgery on my knees I started wearing a corset to help improve my posture, and have been for the past three years. Also living the alternative lifestyle the corsets match most of my wardrobe so now they become part of my outfits as well as slowly straightening my back out. I'm also thrilled to bits at the 8 inch difference between my corseted and uncorsested waist size it used to be a 12 inch difference but I've lost weight since then.

I wear corsets because they are pretty and I'm a big fan of costumes. They're great for ren faires and they actually help get rid of some of my aches and pains when I'm on the rag. I have an 80% waist to hip ratio, but in a corset, I'm at the golden 70%.

I think they look really pretty. I really like the figure they give me, plus they make me sit up strait.
