Is it set based in the far future or a different world?
it normally says different world but they consider them humans still , and if they was human wouldent they live on earth?

i think its set in the real world, except that people have cat ears.
the city that its in is Tokyo...i know that for sure
and yes McDonalds is nasty

in the 4th book (i think) when they're by the river with osamu, one of them say that its surprisng that theirs a place so beutiful in tokyo

yeah... i think its set in a parallel world sort of thing... i mean they have all recent technologies... LOL.. a McDonald's...7-eleven... so it seems all places and things are the same except that they have ears..."magic" and such... so i say a very close Parallel Universe... 3nodding xd
