I can see Near (or Light? It looks a LOT like Near though) as a tease. Anyway, some Critique: The body and head proportions are a bit off like the neck matches the head's size but the body does not match the head or neck in size. However, it does not become incredibly irritating or awful to the audience so don't start thinkin' that the pic. is awful by this one critique (I don't know what kind of person you are but I don't want you to get upset over my comments; they're just things for you to focus on for future perhaps) ; I haven't even given my opinion yet. Now, My Opinion: I happen to like the picture. I like death note and I've seen some awful pics. This is not one of those. And as far as I'm concerned, you're pretty good with drawing the different parts of the body and facial expressions.
If you just balance proportions a little more I think your stuff could be flawless and then you can start worryin' about coloring. rofl

Other then the thing about proportion that Tarff said, I think its good. I mean it is really good. I just think his hair is too big for his head. But if its like that in the Anime, then its fine :3

I love this. Me and my friend are obsessed with the show. (Her more than meXD) The hair is perfect. Like the other two said its just proportion. But don't freak out. And don't freak out about coloring either. I don't color all that often either. I like the sketched look better. 3nodding

It looks like it belongs in the game DNd poisoned. It's a yaoi game staring Mello and near (you play as Mello) http://psychoticnya.animeblogger.net/?p=16 There's the link if anyone wants it.
The picture is niceee too.

I find you guilty of petting, but I do that too (it's alright, but it's always better to use long and soft strokes to get the lines done). Unless, of course, that's the style/look you're going for. Now, old school anatomy dictates that the eyes are generally a single eye apart with the head being five eyes in total, but since this is more in the area of anime -- it's more aesthetic not to follow the rules, but to bend the rules one must first learn them before breaking them. Then there is the proportions of the head to the body, which I believe everyone already brought up so I'm not going into details.
I'm not good at critiquing since I'm non too gentle about it, but you did a great job. There's a lot of potential, now you just have to refine the finer points of it to truly make it magnificent. I apologize if I'm not so good at this.
Edit: I noticed nobody said the proportions to the head to body (mostly the shoulders, that's what's killing me. If it's more of an athletic/heroic character than you should be able to rotate his head 180 degrees, and then use his head to measure the width of his shoulders which should amount to a head each side (in total two heads), but the more slender/feminine male usually doesn't have the heroic build so one has to use guesswork for their measurements (I go for 1.5 heads in total or .75 head on each side -- if it's a full-front view of course). In your sketch, he has one head in total for his shoulder width (which is alright if he was a woman, but then again it varies with their build). I could go on, but that would be to elaborate more on the anatomy. You did a good job biggrin
