Personality: Being the luckier of the pair, things often go well for Damon more often than for his sister. However, her luck was greater when it came to the draws of fate; she bests him in almost everything else. Grace, speed, power, common sense, and manners. He frequently forgets his manners, and is always reminded by a blunt word from his white twin before he remembers and quickly tries to amend his folly. He tries to be serious at times for whatever reason, but Calliope more often than not teases him to the point where his serious behavior gives way to harmless tauntings and arguments. The same situation happens the other way around at times, and the white mare has an easier time maintaining her countenance than her more impatient brother. They are both very protective of their twin, as they've been together since birth and have lived most of their lives with the other as their sole companion. For the most part, the pair is inseparable.

Location: They are permanent travelers, going wherever they choose to or wherever their adventures lead them.

Their Tree is located in the Eastern Quadrant

3 ~ Extra Information

The Tree
This singular tree stands out among its neighbors; it isn't very tall, just short of five feet in height at the very top of its branches. It's easy to distinguish between where the two saplings had merged; one is pure white, the other is pitch black. They have since blended together in a swirl of different shades higher up along the trunk. Running along the small trunk and its branches is an interesting pattern of lines and swirls, all different colors. The young tree isn't smooth, however. It has thorns along the branches, its roots exposed in places along the ground which would be a pain if stepped on. Its gnarled appearance does nothing but assist the thorns in their growth in size and number. A small peculiarity lies in the upper branches of the tree. They seem to have been, at one point, twisted or curved, as if to protect something, but have since straightened out slightly. The leaves of the young, gnarled tree are pure white all year, but have a few peculiarities. All throught spring, when the sunlight strikes them just right, the leaves explode into an array of different colors, but only for an instant. This peculiarity intensifies in summer, and by fall the leaves are permanently fixed in their many-colored state. However, in winter, the leaves darken so much so that they turn completely black. By the end of winter, possibly early spring, the young tree sheds its dark leaves to make room for the new, pure white leaves that are soon to follow. And thus, the cycle repeats itself.

The Nequus
The first of two, the colt's unique coloring is based black. His twin, younger than he only by minutes, is the purest of whites. Both of them share identical markings; a pattern of thin lines all over their bodies, every color of the rainbow. His eyes are a deep, rich chocolate brown, and hers the brightest of sapphires.

The Basics
The twins are said to be complete opposites in some aspects. Base color, gender, and in strength as well as power. Calliope can put more power into one hit than her brother, while he can carry or pull anything heavy with ease and she wouldn't be able to. They are near equals with knowledge, though she bests him very slightly, but his common sense is seriously lacking, whereas hers is top notch. She has a bit more courage than he, but neither would run from something with their tails between their legs. He bests her with luck, though she bests him with speed, but his luck and her speed are still a bit below average for most of their age. She isn't as likely as he is to stumble, though his stamina bests hers fairly decently. He isn't very adaptable, whereas she can adapt to most any situation or climate.

7 ~ History

Five young fruits, scattered over with sharp thorns and eye-catching patterns, hung among the slender branches of the young tree of contrasting shades. Decorated with tones of black and white, some with the many colors of the rainbow, the fruits slowly grew on their beloved tree. However, their caretaker stopped by only every so often. Anyone who had wandered by that tree afterwards avoided it, as they felt a strange, tiring feeling as they passed it. The smallest fruit, hanging in one of the middle branches, hadn't grown much at all since appearing, its color pale. After a few more minutes, the withered fruit fell to the ground, unable to survive off the small amount of energy it was receiving. The four remaining fruits hung by the branches of the young tree, unaware of the death of their sibling fruit.

The fruits had grown more, and one had fallen off in its early days, but four remained. Since one had fallen, each received more energy from wherever they could get it - nequus, familiars, even other trees that had caretakers. The sun had begun its slow ascent into the morning sky when a reya stallion stole upon the young tree, which wasn't as small as it had been at its conception. Whether this stallion was their father or a random nequus was uncertain, but his purpose was. He carefully lifted his muzzle and plucked the lowest fruit from the tree, devouring it right then and there. He was careful about the thorns, as he didn't want to injure himself, and licked his lips after he finished his treat. Eyeing the remaining three fruits, he chose the next closest, devouring that as he had its sibling. As he stood there, the young tree sucked as much energy from him as it could get in so short a time. He hadn't noticed yet, he was too intent upon his meal. He studied the two remaining fruits carefully, wondering which one he should attempt to get at first. They both looked delicious; one was black, the other white, but both had an identical rainbow-lined pattern. He again lifted his muzzle and tried to push it through a few branches to the black fruit, but to no avail, as several thorns scratched at his face. He quickly retracted it and shook his head, ears flicking backwards at this painful barrier. He re-positioned himself, trying this time to attain the white fruit. Again, he tried in vain, as the tree left a long gash across his cheek and several scratches on his muzzle. He quickly jerked his head away, backing up, and glared at the little tree. Snorting at it, he finally realized how tired he'd become in so short a time. Backing up quickly, ears pinned back, the nervous stallion galloped away from the energy-draining tree. The two fruits didn't miss their lost siblings, and instead grew stronger due to the energy gained from the hungry stallion. Thereafter, the tree's branches grew up and around the two fruits, as if protecting them, as no one else was around to help. Their parents, if they had any at this point, had ceased to visit, and therefore the young fruits had no protector save their thorn-covered friend. More than once after that an attempt or two was made to get at the sole fruits, without a soul in Eden to care for or miss them. Their tree, however, continued to aid them as they grew with energy and protection.

After a month or more, one of the fruits began to rustle in the branches. The thorn-covered black fruit wiggled and danced, finally falling a short distance to the ground. Upon impact, a small black horn pierced the top of the fruit, and a black head followed suit. Chocolate brown eyes blinked at the mid-day sun as it shined down upon his black coat, covered in a plethora of multi-colored lines. He turned his head as he heard a sudden rustle, and the white fruit fell down within a few feet of him. A white head emerged in much the same fashion as he, and he looked into the bright blue eyes of his white sibling, covered in a similar rainbow pattern. Compelled to go greet this newcomer, he naturally attempted to stand to do so. So, he moved both forelegs, lifted himself up with his hindlegs, took one step and-- THWUMP. Down he went, tumbling onto the soft grass beside the flattened fruit he'd emerged from. Confused at this complication, he rolled himself over and tried again. First his forelegs, his hooves flat on the soft grass, then his hindlegs. Success! He stood there, albeit very wobbly and unstable, but standing all the same. Proud of his ability to stand, he decided to try walking again. First, lift up a hoof, move it forward, and-- THWUMP.

Meanwhile, the young white filly wasn't fairing much better than her brother. After managing to stand, she fell immediately onto the grass after attempting to walk. However, within just a few minutes, she had managed to master walking so far as to romp around a bit with a minor number of falls, and he had managed to, as well, only with a few extra meetings with the grass. When they tired of this, or when they'd fallen back onto the grass too many times, they both looked around them curiously. The sun above them was bright and warm, moreso to the colt than the filly, and though it was cool it was still pleasant. She peered over at her brother, then stood and fell down beside him after taking a step closer. She began to sniff him curiously, wondering now what this strange creature could be. He immediately did the same to her, wondering who she was. They both smelled the scent of the fruit on their pelts, sticky but dry, and both wondered what that tempting smell was. He began to lick her head and mane, tasting the sticky fruit juice, and his ears perked, finding that it tasted very good. She did the same to him with a similar reaction, and they began to clean each other off, more to taste the fruit than anything else. That done, they both stood and looked around for more of this tempting food, as both of their bellies were empty and they needed something to fill them with. Spying the fruit remains on the grass, each wandered to the fruit they emerged from and proceeded to sniff at the odd object. Finding its scent identical to the scent on their sibling, the foals eagerly devoured the fruit remains, and learning the hard way to avoid the thorns. The filly learned right off not to try to eat the thorns, but for the colt.. Well, it took him quite a few painful tries before he learned not to attempt to eat them. He did learn, however, and after their meal they both gazed around at their surroundings once more. The whole area was littered with trees of all different shapes, sizes, and colors. Theirs seemed to be on the outskirts of the forest, and it was relatively small, like the rest of the trees that seemed to be separated from those within, those that were taller and thicker than their young tree.

Suddenly the young colt opened his mouth wide, a yawn escaping him, and he blinked sleepily. The yawn was infectuous, as the filly found out immediately afterwards. She stood, a bit more sure-footed, and walked over beside their tree. The thorns were only higher up, not near its trunk, and she leaned against it, sliding down to lay beside it. Following his sister's example, the male walked over and laid beside her, and the both of them fell asleep by their beloved tree.

A few days later, after watching grown-up nequus, the twin foals had learned what noises they could make and how to speak. They would try to talk to each other, but they hardly knew the meaning of the conversations they would have. But, they did understand one thing. Each nequus was referred to by something called a name, but neither of them had one of these so-called 'names.' Where would they find one? How would they get one? Would someone give them one? Only time would tell.

That night, when the siblings were fast asleep beside each other, they each began to dream. They found that their dream was the same, and they were both in that dream. They were still beside their tree, but it was the only tree in sight. They lifted their heads and gazed around, but couldn't see anything else. Suddenly a fog appeared near them. It was mostly white with a bit of black, mixed with a couple other colors. It slowly took shape, but even then it was still hard to discern what it was. It was a nequus, that was certain, but what breed and what gender they couldn't tell, even if they knew how to tell. It was mostly white, and it had some black here and there, with some multi-colored patterns adorning its body. As they watched, it lowered its muzzle and gently nudged the colt. "Damon," it said in a gentle, soothing voice. It then turned to nuzzle the filly. "Calliope," it said that time, in the same tone. It then turned and left, disappearing into the air before it could take a step. The twin foals woke up shortly after that, looking around with sleep-filled, blinking eyes. What had that been about? Whatever it was, it was strange, that was for certain. The filly was the first to rise, causing the colt to slide off her side and fall onto the grass with a little, high-pitched whinny. He quickly stood, spinning around to wake himself up more and make sure he wouldn't fall over. He didn't fall over while spinning, but he toppled over himself when he attempted to stop twirling. While he was on the ground, however, the filly lowered her muzzle and touched his nose with hers.

"Day-mon!" She exclaimed slowly, peering down at him with her bright blue eyes. He paused, confused, then grinned up at his sister as he realized.

"Cuh-lie-... Cah-lie... Cah-lie-oh-pe!" He said happily, tails twitching, and he jumped up onto all fours. The two foals then employed the rest of their morning with romps around Shrilal, weaving around the trees and trying not to fall head over heels because they hadn't fully mastered balance yet.

9 ~ Hide-and-Seek

We were out playing hide-and-seek again, as it seems to be the only thing to do in Yisi, and we saw a straight-horned nequus with pretty wings! His name is Sol, and he ran around with us and played with us, he's lots of fun. Then, he told us all about the ocean, because he's been there! He was looking for a little fuzzy short rit named Kati, though, and he said we could help him look for her! He also said that, once we find her, he'll take us to the ocean with him!!! That's going to be so much fun! I hope we can stay with him for a long, long time!
