Q: "Do I have to roleplay my taur?"
A:
No, these are Roleplay-optional pets. Staff will never force you to RP your taurs.

Q: "Where can I roleplay my taur?"
A:
RP is welcome in both the main thread and in the guild.

Q: "I don't have time to RP my taur and it was purchased with an RP requirement. Can I stop roleplaying with my taur?"
A:
You can, but you will be asked to give that taur up for re-adoption. You will be reimbursed for any money that you paid for it unless it was won in a raffle or free event.

Q: "If I go away for a while, are you going to get rid of my Taur?"
A:
No, we wouldn't do that. But it's great if you come to the shop once in a while, so we know our owners are still alive!

Q: "Which of the two owners is allowed to roleplay a co-owned taur?"
A:
Both! Be sure you're both in agreement to this beforehand. That way neither one is left with any surprises.

Q: "What is a pygmy?"
A:
A pygmy is a perma-child taur. It will never grow and it won't breed. It is 100% roleplayable, however and often interact with other taurs on the Isles and in Chiron City.

Q: "Can my taur be a homosexual / gay / lesbian / bisexual?"
A:
Yes, unless that taur's race has specific breeding/roleplay limitations. For example, the Male Harpy. (See next question for details.)

Q: "Can my Male Harpy be bisexual / homosexual?"
A:
Sorry, we do not allow Male Harpies to be gay or bisexual. In harpy society a homosexual male Harpy is non-existent. It would take some very, VERY serious work to convince us to allow it. This race is so far the only race where we ask that males not be gay. Female harpies, however, are allowed to be bisexual or lesbians.

Q: "Can my Cein Isles taur have a gun/sword/laser/etc?"
A:
Please keep in mind that the technology of the Isles is similar to that of medieval times. No advanced weaponry is allowed. Certain swords, dirks, and the like are okay in limitation. Things that can be made by hand or by blacksmith are okay.

Q: "Where can I find the specific rules I need for roleplaying my taur's race?"
A:
A brief description of each race's abilities and characteristics is located within the Owner's Listing for each race. Slowly, we are compiling an RP & History Guide.

Q: "What is Chiron City?"
A:
It's the sister shop to the Cein Isles, it uses the exact same lineart. The only difference being is that the taurs may be cosplays and it all takes place in a modern, city setting. It follows its own set of rules, so be sure to check out the main shop to view it. Chiron City uses its own mule named "-Chiron-City-".

Q: "How do I adopt a CC-taur?"
A:
At the moment you can get CC-taur only through auctions, customs and bribes. Very very rarely do we hold flatsales for CC.

Q: "I want to breed my CC-Taur!"
A:
Please take a number and wait in the reception area, we'll call you when a doctor is ready to see you. Thank you!

Q: "May I (trans-)port my taur from Cein Isles to Chiron City?"
A:
Yes! You may have a modern version of your existing taur from Cein Isles to Chiron City. Keep in mind that your taur essentially turns into two different characters in two different worlds/planets/dimenions/universes. Your taur will NEVER be able to meet itself from both worlds or dimension hop from CI to CC.

Q: "Can a CI taur breed with a CC taur?"
A:
No. Never. EVER! ........ Seriously! You'll have to port your taurs first.

Q: "What are Paperworld Edition sticktaurs?"
A:
Paperworld Edition Sticktaurs are a CC exclusive. CC Sticktaurs can interact, RP, and breed with each other in a 2D world made of paper. They can travel from sheets of paper to other sheets of paper that are in the CC real world. From books, to post-it's, to receipts, to toilet paper... you name it, a CC Sticktaur can use it to travel. Their babies don't have stages, they just come into being.

Q: "Where do I go to breed my Paperworld Sticktaurs?"
A:
We draw a little romantic room, a little stick bed, and light some little stick candles... oh, wait! You just go here!

Q: "Can my four legged taur have a no-leg or two-leg lover?"
A:
In Chiron City, any race can have any other race for a lover. Seriously, we don't care so long as they leave the pygmies alone.

Q: "My pygmy is in love with another pygmy, is that okay?"
A:
A pygmy can love another pygmy, but they don't breed or have sex. Pygmy bodies are permanently child-like, so please don't be icky.

Q: "Can my female harpy breed with Mubrook?"
A:
No. He's brain damaged, filthy, and doesn't meet ANY standards for harpy breeding. He's not the puppet king of any harem. He is not approved by the USDA.

Q: "How much does it cost to breed two Taurs? How many babies can be produced in breeding? Can male/male or female/female pairs breed?"
A:
Please check out the Breeding subforum. Everything that can be done and what it costs is listed there.

Q: "Can I get a cosplay for the Cein Isles?"
A:
Simply stated, no. We don't allow cosplays (direct ports of game/movie/etc. characters) because they don't match with the setting and technology of the Isles. However, they are allowed for Chiron City.

Q: "What if I want a taur custom inspired by another character for the Cein Isles?"
A:
You can get a taur with similar hair, eyes, coloration and some clothing inspired by a favorite character, but you may not name it or roleplay it as the same character. You must give it a different name, background, and roleplay it based on the settings of the Cein Isles.

Q: "You did a custom/bribe for ----, why won't you do one for me?!"
A:
If we did a custom/bribe for someone, likely it was because they paid for it or won it, it was part of a pet trade, or they did something very nice for us and the staff felt that they deserved a taur. Staff members have the right to give and trade taurs as they see fit, and won't give them out simply because you ask. Whining and begging will not make it easier for you.

Q: "What are 'Polygamous Bastards/Wenches'?"
A:
That is the term we give to designated breeding NPC's. Essentially, if you own a taur but do not wish to get another person to help you establish a breeding pair you can use these NPC's to breed with. Anyone may breed their taurs with them. Needless to say, your resulting offspring will invariably have numerous half-siblings.

Q: "Where can I find a list of taurs that are permanently mated?"
A:
Right here!

Q: "Where can I get specific information on race breedings?"
A:
Look at the very bottom of this thread.

Q: "Where is all the art for my taur?"
A:
The simple answer is... in the colorist's hard drive. We typically ask that colorists prepare all the stages at once so that the stages are consistently colored. When your taur is placed on its certificate, all of its stages are done at once and then placed in a holding folder in the "taur_art" PB account. When they are ready to be grown, that stage is moved from the holding folder to its official place and then the Owner's List is updated with that file name.

If there is an event, that event gets a designated subfolder in the "centaurblues" account. That account will and often deletes old event art after a year or so. If you'd like to keep any posted preview or banner art from that event, please save it in your own space. Pygmies are never deleted from that account.

Q: "What does it mean to 'cert' a pet?"
A:
To cert a pet means to place it on its certificate. Cert is short for certificate or the art that often includes things like owner name, pet name, pet's date of creation, colorist's name, lineartist's name, shading templatist's name, etc.

Q: "What does 'uncert' mean?"
A:
It means the pet art alone and not the art presented to you atop its certificate. Some people will refer to this as the uncerted pet. Waaaay back in the beginning, most cyberpets (on Gaia called "B/C pets") were not always placed on their certificate and the certificate was a separate piece of art that said you were the official owner of your pet. Somewhere along the lines it was combined so that the art included your pet in the foreground of its owner's certificate.

Q: "How many CI/CC taurs can I own?"
A:
Really you can own as many as you want. We no longer require you to only buy a race you do not already own.

Q: "What's the difference between a chibi ad a pygmy?"
A:
Chibis are usually hand-drawn doodles by staff, they are NOT roleplayable or breedable and they can sometimes be upgraded to adult taurs during seasonal events for an upgrade fee.

Q: "What are your Flatsale rules?"
A:
Please check the "Availability" section, as updated Flatsale rules are listed there. Generally, growing flatsale taurs are 5k and adult stage only flatsales are 1-2k.

Q: "May I change my taur's name?"
A:
No, we strongly discourage that you change your taur's name.

Q: "I've recently changed my name, may I have it adjusted on my certificate?"
A:
This depends on certain factors. Some of them being...
1. If there's any staff available/willing to do the recerting.
2. If you or the staff have the uncert (original taur art on a white or clear background).
3. If staff has the available files and permission needed to recert your taur.

Please PM the mule as these are handled on a case-by-case basis.

Q: "How long does it take my Taur to grow?"
A:
Typically, from Baby/Egg to Child stage takes about two weeks. Child to Teen takes two-three weeks. From Teen to Adult two-three weeks.

Q: "I'm scared to post in the thread! Can I PM the mule?"
A:
No. There are a lot of really nice people in this thread! No one is going to harass you or laugh at you for being new, more likely, you'll meet some new friends!

Q: "What sort of things can I PM the mule about?"
A:
Please limit PMs to the mule to questions and shop related info. Spam or comments that should be kept in the thread (such as, 'Your shop is pretty!') are not appreciated and may result in gray listing if they continue.

Q: "What are 'RL Commissions'?"
A:
A RL Commission means "real life commision" where the shop owner's have permission or own the art and have the right to sell pets for real money instead of virtual Gaia Online gold or items. Gaia Online can not allow anyone to post real life money transactions or information within their site so it's commonly placed on another website or a hosted art site like Deviant Art. Most transactions are made via email and using Paypal. If you are underaged (below the legal age for owning a credit card or bank account) then you will most likely not be able to purchase a RL Commission without parental consent.

Q: "I purchased a RL Commission from [Artist Here] but it was never completed. What do I do next?"
A:
Unfortunately, if you've not been able to reach the artist then there's not much of a chance that we will be able to, either. We're very sorry, but a real money commission is a contract between you and the artist in question. Gaia Online itself can not help you and is not legally able to. We're very sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused. If there is some other way we can compensate you, we will do everything within our power to do it. We cannot give you actual cash.

Q: "Why are Dracotaurs RL Commission / such a very high gold price?"
A:
Because Syrcaid drew them and she reserves the right to distribute them as she sees fit. This is sometimes the only way artists ever receive any extra income. Originally, 1/3 and Syrcaid came up with the idea to create two new races that were only available with real money, but so that the people with no real money could also have the chance of owning an ultra-rare new race of taur it was agreed that a very, very high gold value was placed on these taurs in order to keep them ultra-rare and to ensure that anyone who wanted one would have to be a serious buyer.

Q: "Why can't we purchase taurs with real money?"
A:
Because we do not own the rights to the original lineart Birvan created. We've asked and never got a reply about it so we've stopped asking. Instead, qualified artists in our staff have permission to create new art and use the Cein Isles certs and name to make them official taurs. These taurs can breed and RP with taurs made from the original lines.

Q: "Can I buy new certificate art?"
A:
Yes. When the offer is available, patrons may purchase their very own customized certificate art with gold or real money.

Q: "Why haven't certain taurs ever grown past [Stage]?"
A:
Sometimes the owner insist that the original colorist complete the stages of a taur. If that artist goes away and never returns, then the taur will never be grown. Such taurs will never be grown until the owner confirms with current staff that they want someone new to complete it. Please PM the mule if you are such a person, we are more than happy to grow your incomplete taurs for you.

Q: "What does 'PB' stand for?"
A:
Photobucket. It's the primary file storing website many Gaians use for storing their images. Other image file storing websites are available, but Photobucket caters to Gaia Online users and has been known to offer special features.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Q: "What is a Chibi/Sticktaur?"
A:
A Chibi and a Sticktaur are just fun pieces of collectible art usually given out during special events. CC Sticktaurs, unlike CI Sticktaurs, can interact with each other and breed.
