Q: "Where is all the art for my taur?"
A: The simple answer is... in the colorist's hard drive. We typically ask that colorists prepare all the stages at once so that the stages are consistently colored. When your taur is placed on its certificate, all of its stages are done at once and then placed in a holding folder in the "taur_art" PB account. When they are ready to be grown, that stage is moved from the holding folder to its official place and then the Owner's List is updated with that file name.
If there is an event, that event gets a designated subfolder in the "centaurblues" account. That account will and often deletes old event art after a year or so. If you'd like to keep any posted preview or banner art from that event, please save it in your own space. Pygmies are
never deleted from that account.
Q: "What does it mean to 'cert' a pet?"
A: To cert a pet means to place it on its certificate. Cert is short for certificate or the art that often includes things like owner name, pet name, pet's date of creation, colorist's name, lineartist's name, shading templatist's name, etc.
Q: "What does 'uncert' mean?"
A: It means the pet art alone and not the art presented to you atop its certificate. Some people will refer to this as the uncerted pet. Waaaay back in the beginning, most cyberpets (on Gaia called "B/C pets") were not always placed on their certificate and the certificate was a separate piece of art that said you were the official owner of your pet. Somewhere along the lines it was combined so that the art included your pet in the foreground of its owner's certificate.
Q: "How many CI/CC taurs can I own?"
A: Really you can own as many as you want. We no longer require you to only buy a race you do not already own.
Q: "What's the difference between a chibi ad a pygmy?"
A: Chibis are usually hand-drawn doodles by staff, they are NOT roleplayable or breedable and they can
sometimes be upgraded to adult taurs during seasonal events for an upgrade fee.
Q: "What are your Flatsale rules?"
A: Please check the "Availability" section, as updated Flatsale rules are listed there. Generally, growing flatsale taurs are 5k and adult stage only flatsales are 1-2k.
Q: "May I change my taur's name?"
A: No, we strongly discourage that you change your taur's name.
Q: "I've recently changed my name, may I have it adjusted on my certificate?"
A: This depends on certain factors. Some of them being...
1. If there's any staff available/willing to do the recerting.
2. If you or the staff have the uncert (original taur art on a white or clear background).
3. If staff has the available files and permission needed to recert your taur.
Please PM the mule as these are handled on a case-by-case basis.
Q: "How long does it take my Taur to grow?"
A: Typically, from Baby/Egg to Child stage takes about two weeks. Child to Teen takes two-three weeks. From Teen to Adult two-three weeks.
Q: "I'm scared to post in the thread! Can I PM the mule?"
A: No. There are a lot of really nice people in this thread! No one is going to harass you or laugh at you for being new, more likely, you'll meet some new friends!
Q: "What sort of things can I PM the mule about?"
A: Please limit PMs to the mule to questions and shop related info. Spam or comments that should be kept in the thread (such as, 'Your shop is pretty!') are not appreciated and may result in gray listing if they continue.
Q: "What are 'RL Commissions'?"
A: A RL Commission means "real life commision" where the shop owner's have permission or own the art and have the right to sell pets for real money instead of virtual Gaia Online gold or items. Gaia Online can not allow anyone to post real life money transactions or information within their site so it's commonly placed on another website or a hosted art site like
Deviant Art. Most transactions are made via email and using Paypal. If you are underaged (below the legal age for owning a credit card or bank account) then you will most likely not be able to purchase a RL Commission without parental consent.
Q: "I purchased a RL Commission from [Artist Here] but it was never completed. What do I do next?"
A: Unfortunately, if you've not been able to reach the artist then there's not much of a chance that we will be able to, either. We're very sorry, but a real money commission is a contract between you and the artist in question. Gaia Online itself can not help you and is not legally able to. We're very sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused. If there is some other way we can compensate you, we will do everything within our power to do it. We cannot give you actual cash.
Q: "Why are Dracotaurs RL Commission / such a very high gold price?"
A: Because Syrcaid drew them and she reserves the right to distribute them as she sees fit. This is sometimes the only way artists ever receive any extra income. Originally, 1/3 and Syrcaid came up with the idea to create two new races that were only available with real money, but so that the people with no real money could also have the chance of owning an ultra-rare new race of taur it was agreed that a very, very high gold value was placed on these taurs in order to keep them ultra-rare and to ensure that anyone who wanted one would have to be a serious buyer.
Q: "Why can't we purchase taurs with real money?"
A: Because we do not own the rights to the original lineart Birvan created. We've asked and never got a reply about it so we've stopped asking. Instead, qualified artists in our staff have permission to create new art and use the Cein Isles certs and name to make them official taurs. These taurs can breed and RP with taurs made from the original lines.
Q: "Can I buy new certificate art?"
A: Yes. When the offer is available, patrons may purchase their very own customized certificate art with gold or real money.
Q: "Why haven't certain taurs ever grown past [Stage]?"
A: Sometimes the owner insist that the original colorist complete the stages of a taur. If that artist goes away and never returns, then the taur will never be grown. Such taurs will never be grown until the owner confirms with current staff that they want someone new to complete it. Please PM the mule if you are such a person, we are more than happy to grow your incomplete taurs for you.
Q: "What does 'PB' stand for?"
A: Photobucket. It's the primary file storing website many Gaians use for storing their images. Other image file storing websites are available, but Photobucket caters to Gaia Online users and has been known to offer special features.
Q: "What is a Chibi/Sticktaur?"
A: A Chibi and a Sticktaur are just fun pieces of collectible art usually given out during special events. CC Sticktaurs, unlike CI Sticktaurs, can interact with each other and breed.
