Do u think sonic heroes was a really good game or just plain awful?
PostPosted: Tue Jul 05, 2005 8:08 pm

I thought it was a good game, but only a good name. I would not say that it was the best Sonic game by any stretch of the imagination, but I wouldn't say it was outright bad. It was quite flawed in several areas, specifically and especially plot, dialogue, and somewhat floaty controls (which has been a plague to all the 3D Sonic games IMO) but I overall enjoyed it.

Except the godawful pinball stages, of course; I don't believe I have ever heard ANYTHING good about them from anyone, outside of "golly, if ONLY the pinball stages had WORKED properly..."

I already discussed my opinion on SH at length in this topic. Feel free to read and comment. smile

I completly agree with u. The pinball stages were total hell! They are the exact reason why it took me ten million times to complete the bonus missions with team sonic! domokun stressed scream

I think what really kills the fun in the game is just about ALL of the second acts. It seems like every single one of those has this final stretch before the goal ring in which you have to move like heck and pray that something doesn't glitch up and kill you (Power Plant, I'm looking at YOU...).
That and the special stages...Good Lord, why did THOSE have to be resurrected from the old days?

It's still a decent game, though, once you get past the less-pleasurable things. Plus, the music's pretty good; perhaps the best aspect of the game. "What I'm Made Of" is already a favorite of mine (now if I could only get to that final stage...).

i have to agree with the special stages but then i have to disagree that the game its self was good but i just wish Tails could have flyed higher and a little farther but the music and everything i thought was good 3nodding

I, personally, just found it to be a distinctly average platformer... and I expect better of the series.

I love the soundtrack (went to the effort of getting both CDs) and I love the concept, love the graphics. I love several of the levels, Grand Metropolis rocks for a start.

Hate the fact that you can mouth the dialogue at every point in each stage. Hate stupid comments from Tails like "I'm falling!" Hello, you can fly, chill! Grrr.

What I hate most, as Nuala will doubtless already have commented on, is the sheer bugginess. If you must have tons of grinding (yes, Frog Forest and Rail Canyon, I'm looking at *you*), it would be nice to be able to land on the rails, safe in the knowledge that a bug isn't going to chuck you off them to your death. Like I don't hate grinding enough as it is!

Not that any of this stops me playing, of course. Though I do kinda miss the Chao Garden and I'm stuck on the same level with 3 of the 4 teams.

I found this game to be average. Not at all the best of the series. The classics are still all my favorite, but yes, Sonic Heroes was decent. This isn't one of the few Sonic games that dissappointed me. Heck, the main dissappointments I've had with the Sonic Series is Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic Shuffle.

All my opinions have pretty much already been said. The game was alright. The glitches were a pain. The special stages were just.. bleh.. And the soundtrack kicks. "What I'm Made Of" and "This Machine" are both a favorite of mine.

Honestly, I enjoyed it too. The glitches I didn't mind so much. I loved the music as well. The only thing I was disappointed about was that the Japanese voices weren't available on the Gamecube version. I mean, the English voice acting is annoying as HELL! stressed

Sonic Heroes was ok. I personally liked Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 better.
