Welcome to the original birthplace of Cressida This journal is maintained by BlackFireKitsune Height: 15h Cressida's Stats Skill level: 71Power: 14 pts Strength: 12 pts Intelligence: 7 pts Wisdom: 10 pts Courage: 7 pts Luck: 8 pts Speed: 8 pts Agility: 11 pts Adaptability: 14 pts Stamina: 8 pts
Personality: When she puts her mind to something, there is no stopping this head-strong mare. She is very decisive, and although she tends to remain alone for her own reasons, she will occasionally opt to meet other horses. Whether this is good or bad for the nequus she's meeting, however, depends on her mood. More often than not, she is calm around others (when she decides to speak to them), but sometimes a mischievous mood descends upon her, and she will craft tricks to play on unsuspecting horses.
Location: Although she doesn't normally stay in one place too long, her journeys always end up bringing her back to the sea.
Cressida's Tree is located in the Southwestern Quadrant

More Information
The Tree: As you approach, you notice a tree that stands out from the others, in both color and shape. Despite its gnarled appearance in places, it has some straight branches here and there. You're able to outline where the two saplings met, and from there, faintly trace where they intertwined and grew together. At its trunk, both saplings are distinct; one has bark as white as snow, but the other has a rich gold tint to it. Upwards towards the branches, the gold and white mix together occasionally, and separate branches are a single color, either white or gold. The leaves change their color with the seasons. In spring, the new budding leaves shoot out, pure white in color. By summer, the leaves have faded to a dull yellow shade, but in autumn, the leaves cling to the tree, having turned into a bright, proud shade of gold. However, instead of falling off in autumn, the leaves cling to the tree to protect all that lays underneath it from the snow that may fall. But, by late winter, the leaves burdened by snow fall off the tree, and the cycle begins anew.
The Mare: Her coat is a pure white, though she has a golden sheen along her back and on the outer sides of the upper part of her legs. The finger-like appendages that surround the white translucent membrane are the same gold color, though the thumb-claws are white. Her curved, arrow-tipped horn and all four hooves are gold. Her long mane and tails are pure white, but change to gold at the tips. She has three small braids formed by the humans, fastened by green beads. She also has several pieces of jewelry that were also crafted by the humans. A small gold chain hangs around her neck, just above a thicker, broader band of gold with ornate designs on it. Each foreleg sports two pieces of gold jewelry, as well, in between the knee and fetlock joint. The right foreleg has two gold chains, while the left has one resting below a broad bracelet of gold with designs on it, like the necklace. When looking at her gilded body and gold adornments, the eyes naturally gravitate to hers, a striking green, that stick out from her gold and white coat.
The Physics: She isn't very 'book-smart' as some people say, but she has good common sense, so she more often than not knows what she's doing. Her courage is a little lacking, but she will fiercely protect those who she considers friends or family. Her strength and power are some of her best features, so she isn't to be taken lightly, especially when angered or provoked. Her speed is a little lacking as well, a bit below average, but she tries as hard as she can to improve this, running and training as long as she can. She also has good reaction speed, a bit above average. Her stamina is definitely not one of her best features, though she's trying to fix that as well. Her luck isn't one of her best features either, though there isn't anything she can do about that one. She is very adaptable, and can easily tolerate transitions between extremes in weather, climate, or personalities.
The Personality: (May possibly request this in first post, but it's here for now) She is very wary of others when she first meets them. It takes a bit to gain her trust, and even longer to ensure that you don't lose it. Those that have so far earned her trust and those she likes or loves, she is willing to die for to protect. She's polite to everyone unless they don't deserve it, and spends most of her time with her beloved family, most specifically her mate, Aitumn. Anyone that mocks or downplays their cross-relationship beware.

People
Love: These creatures are as close as possible to Cressie, either friends or family, and she will protect them at all costs. Rhea - I haven't seen her in years, but I was finally reunited with her in Shrilal. I've missed her so, she hasn't changed a bit. Aitumn - The one and only stallion I shall ever call mimaira. I hold the utmost respect and adoration for my mate, and I don't think I could have found anyone else to even compare with him. Tucker - My gorgeous, wonderful little bundle of energy, my pride and joy. It sounds corny, but he is. I never thought I'd feel this way about anything before, and I certainly didn't think I'd be this happy about having a foal so soon. He's grown now, a wonderful handsome stallion, and he stays nearby in Quirne, which makes me very happy. Rose - Tehya -
Friends: These people have gained Cressida's trust and friendship. Melantho - This pure black mare was awesome. She's got a great singing voice and I hope to see her again soon. Poor dear is being sought after by some mare named Nestra. Aku - Mel's little rit brother. Also pure black, but with spots too. He likes to sing too, and I hope to see him again soon, too. Maurice - I met this fellow by the ocean. First Ichsa stallion I've seen since I was a filly, and he was wonderful. I'll see him next time I head to the ocean, hopefully. Morthan - He's a nice stallion, in my opinion. I need to try to meet him again sometime. Poor guy is blind at night and gets burned by the sun by day, I can't imagine what that's like, though I suggested getting a blanket from the two-legs to help. Lucius - He seems like a very nice, polite fellow. His adornments are unique, as well, as far as I can tell. He's friends with Aitumn, as well.
Neutral: Anyone here, Cressida doesn't know where else to put them. If they meet again, maybe then she'll know where to put them, but not yet. Aranthos - I don't know about this guy. I didn't even see him, I think he was a ghost. I know he was male, though. Not sure what breed or color, or when he died. He walked through me, that was odd.. I don't know if it would be good or bad to see him again. Vierna -
Dislike: These creatures have gotten onto Cressida's bad side, either from words, actions, etc. Clytaemnestra - This pissy mare was after Melantho, trying to bring her back to Mel's controlling father. I hope to never see her again, and I hope Mel escapes the grasp of Nestra and her father.
Loathing: These had better not come anywhere near Cressida or they'll get a good swift kick wherever she can land one. Zaknafein - If I ever see him again, I don't think I'll hold Aitumn back from killing him. I'd probably help run him through.

Meetings
Another Reya? - Today was my first time going to the beach since I was a filly with my mother. I met an awesome black Reya and her little Rit brother there. Breath of the World - I decided to stick around the ocean, and I met this blue Ichsa stallion with a cool accent. Shadow Play - I was wandering through the woods, I forget where, when I encountered the ghost of a nequus named Arantos. Creepy as sin. Wanderings - I met the same mare Melantho told me to avoid at all costs. I tried to lie and say I didn't know Mel to protect her, but it didn't work. Journey On - I was having a good run when I spotted this stallion. I thought he was my mother at first, from the distance that separated us, but once I got a better look I was a touch disappointed. Found out about a disability of his, but despite that we had a nice walk, which ended with a good run. Who Are You Again? - Pt. 1 - The last time I saw Aitumn it wasn't for too long, and we didn't talk much, and uh... yeah... I didn't expect to meet him again, here especially, and for such a reason as this.. Trouble in Paradise - Aitumn and I were just minding our own business (well, he was, I was napping), when this green git came over. I swear he has no brains at all, with how rash he acted. Got what was coming to him, though, but I wish I could've given him a few more injuries. "Oh ugger" - A bone-clad Aeri wandered by my tree, and it turns out he was looking for Aitumn. We had a lovely talk before he had to leave to get food for his tree. Who Are You Again? - Pt. 2 - Little Tucker was finally born, and he's the most adorable little thing and the apple of our eye. He's mostly white, which I'm sure confused Aitumn terribly, but the little fellow has his father's wings and my horn. We played tag for a while until he tired himself out, though. He's so cute. Speedy Trip! - Tucker and I were playing tag when the green brute descended upon us. Tucker ran for it and I stalled the green git until the bay cavalry arrived to save the day and chased Zak off. Then we walked back to get Tucker who was with my mother! Aitumn's Epic: The Prologue - Aitumn asked me to meet him on the outskirts of Shrilal so we could talk, and it ended in a good run and then a nice nap. Impish Homecomings - We had ourselves a little race to Quirne, and met ute there. Aitumn's Epic: The Final Chapter - It's finally over. Finally. But there are beginnings, too. Can you feel that? - Our second fruit tree. I can still hardly believe it. Migration - tbc

History
My history? Well, it isn't that exciting, I don't think. I was the only fruit that survived out of, I think, four others. My mother was always devotedly attached to me, never letting me out of her sight for more than a few minutes at a time. I knew her at once, but the stallion who declared himself my father was an Ichsa, as far apart from me in coloring that it was rather obvious I was not his true child. For one, I have not a spot of blue or green in my whole body, and along with that I'm no Reya-Ichsa crossbreed.
He was always rather pushy towards me and my mother, though she seemed to ignore him. She told me my real sire disappeared, and she had no idea what happened to him. Shortly thereafter this Ichsa stallion appeared and declared his undying loyalty, etc etc etc. Long story short, he helped my mother care for me. She told me before that the reason my siblings died was because she had to leave the tree to get food for herself, to stay strong, and the time away from the tree weakened all of the fruits, mine included, until most died and fell. Luckily the stallion appeared before my fruit fell, and I grew stronger and hatched a healthy young foal.
From the moment I laid eyes on him, I never really liked the stallion. I never knew his name, not that it matters. Ah well. He never liked me either, always gave me nasty looks when my mother wasn't looking, always pushing me and such. When he caught me alone he would always make me do things, like get him something to eat and things like that. Always made me not tell my mother by threatening me. 'Do you want to end up dead like your father?' he always asked me. How he could be so sure that my father was dead, I don't know. Worries me, though. Maybe he saw him die? I don't know. Maybe my mother can explain when I see her.
Well, to make a long story short, my mother was exhausted again after one of my flying lessons, so the Ichsa offered to take me on one again to wear me out, and to give her a break. She consented, so he took me to the edge of the forest. There, I became airborne, though not very well, and he joined me. Once we were far enough away, we hadn't been flying very high, he told me to never come back or he would see to it I never saw my mother ever again. Needless to say that impressed upon such a young filly that she shouldn't go looking for her mother anytime soon. Afterwards he leaned over and grabbed onto my mane with his teeth, dragging me higher. I could tell it was a chore for him, Ichsa's aren't that good at flying anyway. He dragged me as high as he could, for a long, long time, until we were over Ryuten. Suddenly he let go, and before I could try to straighten out and hopefully prevent myself from falling too badly, he kicked me in the side, square on one of my wings, and then flew off. I tumbled downwards into the two-legged lands, and fortunately for me I managed to, just before landing, use my other wing to help slow down the fall. I landed in a large bush that broke my fall, and tumbled out of it.
I saw tons and tons of two-legs around me, all staring and pointing. At first I was afraid of them, I didn't know what to do. Some of them came closer, trying to pet me and help me, but I was in a panic. I kicked them and bit them, until an older one, I don't know but I think it was male, came over and started talking to me. Said something like he didn't know if I could understand him, but they just wanted to help. That calmed me down a bit, I didn't try to bite them after that, but it was still pretty frightening for a foal. I had to live with them for a long while, until my wing got better. I grew up pretty well, can't complain about the humans, they were very nice to me. I think they were scared of my horn, but anyway. I never saw my mother or the Ichsa since then, but I saw a few other nequus. Never talked to them, they always looked at me funny.
As I grew older my wing was good as new, and I was tempted to leave the humans to search out my mother. Before I left, I saw another nequus messing with one of the two-legs. I don't know which breed it was, but he reared up and tried to kick them, chase them, all sorts of things. Well. That was aggravating on my part. Here were the nice two-legs who had taken care of me so well, and there was this other nequus I didn't know at all trying to maim them. Needless to say, he got what was coming to him. The only thing I noticed about him was he didn't have a horn, but he was bigger than me by a couple inches, maybe a hand. I lowered my head, charged, and my horn sunk deep into his shoulder. I would have done more, but he bolted before I could. The humans seemed to like that even moreso; they wove braids into my mane, put gold jewelry on me, and all sorts of things. I like to go visit them every so often, but I haven't recently, my search for my mother has been very absorbing. That's about it, up until now. After this, you'll have to check out the rest of my tree if you want to find out more.

Another Reya? I haven't really talked with anyone in a long time. Not other nequus, anyway. Maybe a little hi, how are you, seen a white Reya mare? But other than that, not many. I don't really like talking to others that much, but I suppose I need to start getting used to it. I have seen a lot more nequus since I left Ryuten, though, I've noticed that.
Anyway, I reached Quirne today, and it was just as beautiful as I remembered it when my mother and I last visited. While I was there, I met a pitch black Reya mare, the first I've seen since my mother and I were separated, with big plans and a wonderful singing voice, and her little black Rit brother, Aku, who can strike very dramatic and unstable poses. We walked on the beach and sang some songs, it was lots of fun. I forgot how much fun it was to simply walk and have a conversation with someone, I haven't done so in a long time. I hope to meet these two again soon.

Breath of the World I was wandering down the beach again today, when I came across this deep blue-coated Ichsa stallion. I must admit to being a bit hesitant upon meeting him, but I had good reason. Past experiences shape future encounters, in my opinion. But I must give him credit, he was nothing like I had assumed all Ichsa stallions were. I liked his accent, and his seawater-filled pendant. He seemed to sympathize with my search, and we went for a nice run down the beach together. I didn't leave him behind, though, that would've been rude. All in all, he was very nice. He called me Cressie, so I decided to think of a nickname for him, and I called him Mo. I hope to see him again soon, though I know I will.

Shadow Play I don't know which forest I was wandering through today, but I was minding my own business when I heard a voice. I had stumbled across a ghost named Aranthos. I don't know when he died, nor what breed he had been, but he was distinctly morbid in his thoughts. Not that it should seem unnatural. We talked for a while, and he walked through me once (that felt weird...) but other than that it wasn't too bad. I don't know whether he was good or bad, but he hasn't done anything bad to me yet, nor any of my friends, so I suppose he's neutral for now. I'll be honest, though, I admit I wanted to get out of there pretty quick after meeting him.

Wanderings It was such a nice night in the valley until I met this mare. I still don't know if I can say her name correctly or not. She was the exact same Reya mare Melantho and Aku had told me to avoid, which was lovely. I tried my best to sound like I hadn't met Mel or Aku at all, but I screwed it up at the last minute, and she caught on. A couple of her goons burst in, one or both without his horn, poor devil, and then dear Nestra left, which I was glad for. I hope to never see her or her henchmen again.

Journey On I was having a good run last night when I spotted a white Reya. For one fleeting moment I thought it was my mother, but upon closer inspection it turned out to be an albino stallion, poor nequus. Blind by night and burned by day.
We started talking, and he seemed very nice. He said he'd like to visit the ocean, so I said I'd show him the way, and we started walking. By dawn he could see at least a little, so we turned our walk into a good run across the valley. I had an odd urge to visit Shrilal again, though. Oh well.

Who Are You Again? - Pt. 1 -
Well, the day started out well enough. Then, all of a sudden I got this insatiable, unavoidable urge to go to Shrilal. When I got there, I found out why.
I found the father, too. Aitumn. I hadn't seen him for a while, and I didn't even remember his name, because the last time I saw him, we-- well. Let's just say that's why we have a fruit now. He's been very good about all of this, which is nice. He seems very stressed though, I have to give him a firm push when it's his turn for a break. Hopefully he'll feel better soon.
But, just.. Wow. Fruit. I don't mind, really, I've been wanting foals of my own for a while now (though I didn't think it would be this soon). Plus, this will give me a reason to take my mind off my mother for a while. I've been getting rather desperate about my search as of late, and this will give me a nice break. I won't stop thinking about her, of course not, but now I have a child of my own to care for, so the search for my mother will have to take the back seat for a while.
But wow! I get so excited when I think about it. I have a fruit, and I'm going to become a mother. Those words hold so much meaning, so much power, so much responsibility. It makes my heart jump whenever I think of it. I keep getting very nervous about it. What if I'm not a good parent? But I think I'll try out what my mother taught me, as well as what I've picked up since then. Then my mind wanders to the child itself. What will it look like? Who will it take after more? Will it be a boy or a girl? Just... Oh, I get so nervous, though I know I shouldn't be. All the same, I shouldn't even be here to record this, I have to get back to the little tree now.

Trouble in Paradise I was having such a lovely nap, too... I woke up due to some commotion nearby, and it turns out some green Aeri git who has it out for Aitumn came in. He didn't even know he was here I don't think, until he recognized him, so Aitumn went to meet him. He must've saw that the brute would cause problems, so he tried to take it as far from the tree as possible. It took him a few minutes, but the idiot finally made the connection that the fruit was Aitumn's, which wasn't good. He barreled straight past Aitumn like he wasn't even there, though he didn't seem to either notice me or think I'd do much about it.
Ahahaha, moron!
I surprised him, managed to graze my horn across his shoulder, and that certainly put him off. He seems more the type to bluff than fight, so he was at a loss of what to do. Tried circling the tree to get at the fruit better, but by then Aitumn had joined me by the tree, and we told him off. He didn't seem too keen to leave yet, so I threatened him and before he could decide if there was any truth in my threats I made a bee-line for him, and he bolted. I managed to catch up to him and gave him a sharp bite in the flank though, which he really wasn't expecting, so he took to the air instead, the dolt. I still can't believe how much his intelligence sucks.
After he left I could tell Aitumn was a bit shaken from being barreled into by such a giant, so I made him lay down. We talked and teased for a few minutes before I decided he needed to sleep, so he did.
The fruit keeps getting bigger every day, though I can feel it drain less and less energy from me with each passing day. I'm not sure if that's a bad sign or if it's a good sign, signaling that it's almost ready to hatch and isn't growing as much anymore, but I'm still worried. What if that brute comes back? What if he tries to attack Aitumn or the fruit when I'm not there? I'm determined to stay by the tree now, I shouldn't even be here recording this.. I just hope that our child doesn't run into the big green oaf by itself after it's born...

"Oh ugger" It was fairly late out when a skeleton-clad black Aeri wandered by with a basket between his teeth. As you can imagine, I was rather hesitant about Aeris after that last encounter, but from the basket he held I figured it was safe to assume he had a tree of his own.
Turns out his name is Lucius, and he had wandered by looking for Aitumn. I told him of his good luck, and that he would probably find him near Ryuten. He also has a half-breed tree with his mate, a Bae mare dubbed Lydia, and from his words they're both very happy about the match. Turns out their fruit wasn't planned, either, so at least Aitumn and I aren't the only ones.
We had a lovely talk about children, instincts, and evolution, but then I got the hint that he was itching to get going, so I said he could leave if he felt so inclined, and he did. After all, getting food for his mate is more important than standing around talking to someone else.

Who Are You Again? - Pt. 2 -
He hatched! Finally, finally, the little bundle of energy we've been protecting for the longest time has hatched. He is the most beautiful little colt I've ever seen, and I couldn't be happier. He's pure white like my mother (which sorely confused Aitumn, poor guy), though he inherited feathered wings with bay tips from his sire. Me? He got a gold horn and hooves from me. He reminds me a bit of my mother because of his snowy coat, but he has all but pushed her out of my mind for the time being.
It seems Aitumn has grown more and more open and playful since our meeting; he never used to talk much, but then again neither did I. It seems we've both grown a touch closer since then, maybe more. Already we've taught our boy the game of tag, which he doesn't fully understand but loves to play all the same. Tucker is perfect, beautiful, adorable, everything I could have hoped for and much, much more. I never thought I'd feel this way when we first arrived here, but the feeling is unmistakable. Little Tucker has brought me so much joy and pride, I can't find all the words to describe the feeling.
