The sun hung lazily in the center of the sky, not a cloud in sight to cover it or hinder its rays of light from hitting the beaches of Quirne. The snowy colt grinned as he played along the beach and in the water, prancing and running and jumping. With a squeal, he ran away from the oncoming water as fast as he could, until it had reached as far as it could, so the golden-horned crossbreed turned around with a grin and chased it back, then continued on like that for a while.

In the many weeks they'd been at the ocean, Tucker had grown quite a bit. He was still a colt, however, but had improved upon his vocabulary and speed, as well as how to walk and run in sand. None of this crossed his mind, though; he was simply living a wonderful life, playing with his parents and grandmother on the beach, and playing with the water.

The gilded mare watched her son playing from several yards away or more, depending on whether he was chasing or running from the water. Her emerald eyes were focused on Tucker, although every muscle remained alert. Ears were perked and swiveling slowly, catching any foreign sound. Aitumn had seemed more nervous, more on edge lately, and she had three guesses as to why.

Zak, Zaknafein, and the green drekhallah.

She snorted a bit as her bright green eyes flitted to the side at a strange sound - but it was nothing, again. She shifted her gaze back to the snowy colt who was still playing in the water, immensely relieved and thankful that he wasn't affected by Zak at all, despite the close calls they'd had in Shrilal. If the green brute did, however, do anything negative to Tucker, well... He'd pay dearly for it at least three times over. She was glad that her snowy dam was only a few paces away, watching from the cave for the time being.

The stallion's earlier recklessness, the streak he had found to be his addicting out to the swarm of questions and doubts that swirled his mind about the past, was begining to resurface once more. He didn't know why, or what, or even when it had begun, but since the sun's arrival in the sky's of Urin Aitumn had felt the tension in his body rise. Nervousness? He supposed it could be seen as such, tension rising and surely visable under his hide, the alertness of his ears, even the way he held his head on its high arch. He was wary, prepared, and wasn't going to allow himself to be caught off guard by the green terror any more. A glance to the side and he first spotted Tucker playing near the ocean's shore, which set him at ease slightly. It was good their son didn't seem to be nervous or shy because of the previous encounter with Zak, as it would have surely hurt Aitumn to know their wonderful colt's personality was hiding under layers of the protection that was cautiousness. He didn't want that for Tucker, not a lifestyle of being afraid. Never be afraid of living, he would have told him, but he figured that advice should come later, when the colt was old enough to realize its meaning.

As it was, the blood bay Jala flicked his attention back over to Cressida, as the pair were quite a distance from him, however not so much to be out of sight nor difficult to reach in case of emergency. Aitumn was patroling, staying to the high dunes so he would be able to catch the first sight of Zak and not be surprised if the Aeri choose to hide himself amongst the dips of the sand. Back to Cressida though, he hadn't out right told her of the knowledge he held about the brute being spotting near the ocean, as he was sure she was able to tell by his own body language and demeanor what was going on. However, his biggest reason doing so was the thought of Tucker overhearing such a thing. He didn't their son to start asking questions he didn't have an answer for, nor did he want Tucker to be worried over the matter.

A moment longer, with the stallion's dull gaze lingering in the direction of Cressida and his ears swiveling from side to side as if to catch any and every sound that may approach them. Nothing though, he heard nothing as of yet. Despite that fact, there was still the strong urge to return to the mare's company right at this moment, he was unsure if he had caught the wafting scent of the green brute, but supposed that's what may have prompted him to the thought.

So, with ears still swiveling in alertness, yet with the arch in his neck relaxing slightly with ease so as not to startle anyone, the blood bay flicked his hocks and was moving at a smooth trot in no time. That's what his body needed, wasn't it? Movement, a way to ease out the tension in his muscles as they bunched and begged to be set free for the sake of just doing so. A wild buck, a heavy rear, or a sporatic sprint to nowhere seemed to be their desire. Yet it wasn't Aitumn's adjective to do so. Smoothly, quickly, and with little trouble at all with his new found persion in the sands as he learned to drift his weight from hoof to hoof without letting the sinking bother him to much, he trotted to be nearer to Cress. Even in the small movements of the Jala stallion, it was easy to see the rippling of tension underneath his sleek, blood bay hide. Easy, and not hard to miss. He was prepared.

The snowy colt ignored both parents as he pranced and splashed in the ocean, spraying droplets of the liquid onto his legs and belly. He squealed in delight, wriggling his short tail. He wasn't sure why, but ute and riruy were acting weird today, so they weren't much fun. Rhea peered out from the cave for a few moments before retreating back inside, probably to rearrange some shells that Tucker had found.

Cressida's green eyes flitted to the blood bay as he began trotting over, and her mind bolted into a flurry of questions. Why was he coming over? Did something happen? Did he see Zak? Judging from his calm gait, he just wanted to talk or something -- even though it was easy to tell how tense he was. It was because of Zak, she was sure; but was the green brute in Quirne, or had Aitumn seen him by the cliffs? It irked her a bit that the blood bay had told her next to nothing about what was happening, she had as much right as he to know what was going on. Perhaps he had a good reason for not telling her? Tucker, probably, but why would he refrain from telling her something because of Tucker? She pushed the thought aside for the moment as she turned a bit, offering the stallion a small smile. "What's with the tension today?" It was as serious as it was playful, as she really wanted to know why there was so much tension; it was really getting to her, and she didn't want it to affect Tucker.

The stallion's hollow gaze had been on Cressida as he started, however it shifted towards Tucker every once in awhile until he had reached his destination, coming to a full hault in near the golden mare. Indeed he had something to tell her, something of the information he had learned not too long ago, a day or so, he couldn't tell, as he had slept greedily one of those nights in order to keep himself sane enough to forbid unending questions from his mind. Those had been unneeded in the first place, and it had given him nothing but delimna in his indecision of the issue with Zak.

Cress' question question got his full attention as both ears pricked, as if in surprise, despite him knowing full well he should have seen it coming. Yes, he knew he should have. He wasn't sure when the green brute would approach them, he could begin to guess, and yet his was already wary enough. A glance over his shoulder to spy Tucker, and perhaps an unsettled adjustment of his feathered wings and Aitumn craned his neck inward as if to mask his voice. He still didn't want Tucker to hear, but he wouldn't outright lie when it was brought to attention. However he couldn't bring himself to be playful despite Cressida's voice.

"I have an aquantence living on the beach who says he had seen Zak not too long ago near where he stays. I haven't seen him for myself, but I can't think of a reason for him to lie about seeing him." He was sure to keep his voice low, an ear flicking uncertainly toward Tucker.

She closed her eyes after the blood bay had spoken, turning a few things over in her mind. So, she was correct. It was Zak that posed a problem, and not any other nequus or whatever. It still bothered her that he hadn't told her until now, but she couldn't bring herself to be upset at the hollow-eyed Jala. He didn't deserve it in the first place, and second it wasn't as if she hadn't any clue at all as to what was going on. There really was only one thing that could bother Aitumn, and that was Zak.

But still... "Why didn't you tell me before?" She couldn't help but ask, opening her emerald eyes and fixing them on him. It wasn't an accusatory tone, or even hurt; she simply wanted to know. He certainly had the opportunity, of course, but the way he kept looking furtively toward their son and how his ear kept swiveling towards the colt told it all.

Even if Tucker had heard his sire, he wouldn't have cared. Zak was just a name, and not one the colt had attached to anything. To him, Zak was still 'the big scary green thing' and he would remain so until he learned to call him anything else that was more appropriate.

His bright chocolate eyes suddenly flitted to a crab that had emerged from the sand, and the golden-horned crossbreed couldn't help but stare and grin at it. He'd only seen a couple of these before, and they were such fun! With an energetic air, the pale colt pranced towards the brown-shelled thing, pawing at it gently with a hoof. The crustacean snapped its claws angrily and turned to the side before scuttling off quickly. Tucker whinnied in excitement and amusement as he perked his ears forward, trotting after it eagerly. How did they walk like that?

In the moment when the golden mare closed her eyes he could have felt his heart stop for but a fraction of a second, before it leaped into his throat. He could have caught his breath and choked on it for all he knew and all he feared that had been done. And he could have done what Zak intended on doing. Had his words harmed her? The stallion was a loner by nature, distant in conversations, and dodged most encounters; he wasn't as inept or strongly suited to the play of words in conversation or how something may be taken in a totally obscured way. Normally he was cautious, careful, and hardly ever allowed himself to talk of his own experiances or beliefs. That's how he survived, not by being a master at conversation, but the reading of another's body language. And right now, it seemed to him as if he may have done some harm to the golden Reya he had come to know as family through the whole ordeal. That to Aitumn, was rather imporant, as he did not have knowledge of any previous family in his past, and believed it to be an important matter not to be tossed around lightly.

Her question, though one that could have worded with bitterness or even malice, drew him from his thoughts quickly, catching on the tone of voice she used. It was good she didn't sound hurt, but often voice lied and were not, to Aitumn, as an important factor as one's own tongue with the body. Her eyes opened though, and he watched them carefully with his own dull orbs that seemed to mock his take on life. "I didn't want the off chance of Tucker overhearing us to occur. If he started asking questions about Zak, I don't think I'd be able to answer them. And even then, if there's the chance he does remember him, I don't want to bring him up and cause worry." Simple as that. His loss of memory had never hindered him before this point, and he would prefer to keep it that way.

It may have been a bit wrong for him to keep it from Cress, but he had hardly found the time where it would have been suitable to talk about it with Tucker around. Now, quite possibly, was still a bit of a gamble in the prospect, but there was a formality that stuck to Aitumn as if imprinted from long ago. Never lie to a lover. Never harm her out of anger, nor sorrow, nor even for revenge. These were things that came to mind when he thought about it, about Cressida and how she was his family, if not offically than emotionally for the stallion. Aitumn was not an executive in the relationship, and it was imprinted onto him that he shouldn't act as such.

She bobbed her head in agreement, offering the bay stallion a smile. Yes, of course; she knew it was because of Tucker, and it was always good to get confirmation of such facts. She turned her gaze to the young colt, making sure he was still fairly close and not about to run off, and satisfied that he wasn't, she focused on her partner once more. At least Tucker wasn't close enough to hear them talking about Zak; her heart would probably break if her snowy child was somehow affected negatively by Zak, but thankfully he seemed fine. Yes, good.

"Yes, I understand," she said with a nod and a smile, flicking her muscular tails in anticipation. If only she could gallop, jump, anything! She could hardly stand all the pent-up energy. So, best to ask the million-elppa question. "Is he coming here, do you know? What will happen if he does?" Oh, she knew what would happen. She'd kick his sorry arse from here to one moon and back again, then kick his sorry arse to the other moon and back, then maybe to the sun. Gods knew he deserved it, the big green drekhallah.

Tension never did any good for anyone, as Aitumn knew full well the need to do something with one's body. A wild series of twisting bucks, a reckless sprint onto unknown terrain where you're certain to fall, even the leaping over things that were surely much to high to attempt without the usage of one's wings. But that was such for almost any reckless creature, and stunts Aitumn himself had done on a whim of the fathomed heart and soul. Back when he use to travel alone, he'd go simply because his body told him it was time to move on and his heart because it was restless. Now though when he got this feeling, this time there was no urge to move on to a new terrain to feed his inept desire for beautiful terrain or willing competition, but rather the antcipation of a life's balance. His. Tucker's. Cressida's. Rhea's. And even Zak's hung in the balance he was sure.

It was the golden Reya's question that had him craning his neck so his muzzle was close to hers, a light smile playing upon his lips. "Surely he's coming here, as I have no intention on allowing him to catch us unsuspecting again. When he comes we'll get him. He won't pluck a hair from Tucker's mane if you have anything to do about it, am I correct?" It was good they were on the same page, and so it was easier for the blood bay to lighten up a bit, if only for the slightness of it all.

The green brute, the crimson-eyed Aeri, commonly known as Zak, indeed walked the sands of Quirne with only one thing on his mind. He had seen Aitumn, that pompus, selfish, devilish Jala that still mocked him and his plight. Yes, mockery. How could he not know about the past and still fight as if there was purpose? Oh, but there was purpose wasn't there? That little crossbreed, and the nag. That was purpose enough he supposed. Least to say, the mentality of the swirl-hided Aeri was far from what it had been in encounters past. He knew Aitumn was here, he had been foiled in his revenge twice already, and it was making it a great deal obsessive, impulsive, and all the more irratible. How dare the Gods deny him his vengence thus far! How dare they! Give him Aitumn then snap it up in a cruel joke. Just like they had given him a loving family and good life... and snatched that up all thanks to the blood bay sonofanag! Was he unworthy of such revenge? Is that was the Gods were attempting to tell him?

Needless to say, Zaknafein was not in a good mental state as he walked the dunes of Quirne, attempting to find his way along the shoreline to any sign of the blood bay; the murderer.

The crab continued to scuttle along the sands, heading up a small dune and disappearing behind it. Tucker flicked his short tail and pranced after it, being careful on the shifting sands. The hill, however small it was, still caused the colt to slip a bit, but he quickly regained his balance and hopped over it. Studying the ground swiftly, he quickly caught sight of the brown scuttling thing and trotted after it gleefully. They walked so funny!

She couldn't help but chuckle a bit at that, nudging his muzzle with hers. "Good. And of course not, and I suppose you'll be covering the rest of him if I'm just protecting his mane?" She teased, knowing full well what he meant. The tension was suffocating, and the gilded mare needed any chance she could to lighten the mood. She smiled again, flicking an ear. "So--"

"Where's Tucker?" The snowy mare asked from inside the cave, looking at both of them. She'd scanned the stretch of beach the colt was playing on before, but he wasn't there anymore. He very well could be off to the side, she supposed; she was still mostly inside the cave, after all.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 03, 2008 2:01 pm

"Of course! What other way could it be?" the stallion responded with as much good nature as he could muster given the situation. After all, were they not in this together? Did he not deny himself the logic of leaving the family of Reya in order to draw Zak away from them? He did, for it wouldn't have been worth it to lose the trust of Cress, and quite possibly deny Tucker his only father. The blood bay's sanity had been tested during this ordeal, his morals and ideal standings as well, and he'd like to think he'd done well enough with keeping them up. For whatever morals a Nequus like him could have, as the thought of murder still loomed over his heart and his head. Had he? If so, why? These were questions he could not answer for himself, and thusly the Jala had been tried in many aspects of his mentality.

Despite this it was good to be with the golden Reya, he could at least try to relax as they stood there, nudging her muzzle back but not quite indulging himself into a game of teasing. They needed to stay alert, they needed- oh... drek. As if in a personal scolding to himself Aitumn's head jerked upwards and towards Rhea briefly as she mentioned Tucker. Quickly his gaze shifted to the stretch of beach he had previously saw the colt playing at, and indeed the colt was not there. "Couldn't have gone far", the blood bay mouthed as his seriousness returned, for the situation demanded it, already he was moving off at a brisk trot to comb the area previously occupied by the feather winged foal. Damn himself for not paying attention, and damn himself for letting up on the constant search of the sands for the green brute.

Walking along the shore, the slight tips of the cool waves touching and dancing around his large hooves, Zaknafein made his way very slowly from place to place. The beach was new terrain for him, and he didn't quite like it, for it was nothing like his valley home in D'ob. Nothing at all! That p***k Aitumn, picking a hiding spot in the sands. It disgusted Zak more than anything, that his enemy may have already gotten the best of him due to such a silly thing as the ground he walked on. No matter though, it would not deter nor defer his intentions and quite possibly he could get around it if he was just careful with how and where he placed his feet. Maybe, if he could even figure something like that out.

Feeling the cool sea breeze against his bare, thick neck, the Aeri lifted his muzzle to inhale deeply. It had a nice feel to it, kinda, but it was nothing like D'ob, and its strangeness made him wary of the area around him. Crimson eyes scanned the horizons as he happened to spot a bit of white not far from the crest of a hill. His luck couldn't possibly be that good, but there was the evidence right in front of his eyes. He'd remember that colt for the rest of his days. White, brown-tipped feather wings, golden horn. The forbidden spawn of Aitumn, and an unworthy crossbreed at that! Silence was never Zak's strong suit, but it seemed the sand did have one advantage... it hardly made a sound as he picked up his pace to intercept the white creature.

As he got closer he could see the foal's body had filled out some, and he was a bit bigger, but that was hardly anything to the 18 hand monster of an Aeri. No matter how big that drekhallah got, Tucker would still be a fly upon the large Nequus' hide; capable of being squashed.

The crab continued to scuttle across the shifting sands, and Tucker was quit content to follow it. He was too far from Zak to notice him, and indeed if he had, he wouldn't have paid the greenish-paleish blur any mind at such a distance, especially with such an interesting brown-shelled creature to follow. He merely grinned and followed it around an outcropping of rocks at an energetic, high-stepping trot.

The gilded mare's heart skipped a beat as her snowy dam mentioned her son, and she glanced around quickly as Aitumn had. At any other time, she wouldn't have thought all that much of his wanderings, but with Zak looming nearby, it was terrible. "No, of course not," she agreed mildly, trotting swiftly towards the golden-horned colt had been. The waves washed languidly over her golden hooves as she looked across both stretches of beach, and she happened to look at the outcropping just before Tucker pranced around it with his nose near the ground. That was at least a good sign, at least; he was following another crab or something, and that was all. If he was running, then she'd be a bit more worried.

"Over there," she said after she'd sprung into a swift trot towards where she'd last spotted the snowy colt. Yes, he was fine, Zak wasn't near him. They'd know if he was.

Rhea trotted out of the cave after Aitumn and Cress had turned to search, and her sapphire eyes flitted all over the beach. She hadn't seen him, but one ear swiveled as she heard her daughter's second comment. It put her at ease somewhat, and the gilded mare's slow pace - if indeed, one could call a swift trot slow - eased her mind further. If Tucker was in trouble, Cress would be running. The snowy mare had half a mind to return to the cave and move a few more shells, but she stayed put; she'd return to her idle task once Tucker was back at the cave, safe and sound.

The blood bay perked his ears at Cress as she called out, feeling a bit of a relief as he spotted her trotting over. She didn't seem paniced, so Aitumn didn't quite think there was urgency. However, he couldn't shake the feeling he had gotten before, nor could he ignore the tension that still governed most of his body. Despite the unurgent pace of Cressida, and even Rhea, Aitumn found himself loping quickly after the golden mare, ears pricked in alertness and dull eyes scanning the area. It bothered him there were dunes that scatter his sight, and left some parts of the beach undetectable by his gaze.

The distance, though great in the aspect of it, was little when he had his sights on the white wretch of a nequus. He'd be doing the world a favor, ridding it of a disgusting crossbreed, while exacting his vengence on the blood bay Jala. If he couldn't get Aitumn, if he didn't succeed in that deed, than at the very least he could pluck the happiness away from him through the death of his colt. It was sensible, reasonable, and perhaps the plan the Gods had intended for him to do all along. After all, his attempts on Aitumn himself had been foiled, but the white foal, the unworthy crossing of two breeds, was still untested. It was easy to see how Zak had jumped to such a conclusion, how the small creature just played and continued not to lift his nose from the sands, it was blessing indeed that the green brute hadn't been spotted yet. In his antcipation, and perhaps with a feeling of the divine justice that was about to be his, the Aeri picked his hooves up from the sands to continue at a rocking lope, hardly caring for where he placed his strides as he stumbled slightly forward.

However, his ears caught the voice of the golden wretch that he doubted he'd forget in his lifetime, and instantly his shoulder twitched at the rememberence of her curved horn. She was close? He had gotten the distance relatively closed between him and the white foal, and it aggitated him that his justice might be stolen away... again. It was as if a treat had dangled in front him, as he lay starving, and as he got up to get it with his last ounce of strength it had been taken away from him. It snapped his balance, and fear grew in him, the fear of having his vengence ripped away from him again. A stumbling flick of his hind hooves and he was now barreling in the direction of Tucker, ears laid back and muzzle snaked out with bared teeth. He wasn't losing it this time! Course, with such a gait to the large nequus, he was sure to make some sort of commotion when it came to his desperate sprint, stumbling along the way.

Tucker still had his nose close to the crab, until at the last moment it reached up a thick pincer and snapped at his tender muzzle and scuttled underneath a pile of rocks. The snowy colt jerked his head upwards just in time to avoid getting an awfully painful experience, and he turned his head as he heard his dam's voice. There were the sound of hooves though; two sets farther away, a trot and a lope which he recognized quite easily, but one was much closer and it sounded faster, heavier, more forced. He quickly scanned the area with his chocolate eyes, only to freeze wide-eyed as he saw the big green thing headed straight for him.

"Ute! Riruy!!" He shouted fearfully as he reared, ears pinned to his skull, and the snowy colt was off as fast as his thin legs could carry him back down the beach towards their cave. He did as ute had told him once during a game of tag: If you don't want to get caught, don't run in a straight line. Surely the green thing would get him if he ran straight, but he might be so big that he wouldn't be able to turn as easily as the slender colt could. With a determined snort, the snowy colt bolted off on a tangent toward the water, feathered wings pinned to his sides to allow him to run faster, like he'd seen riruy do sometimes. If he could do this, if he could run in zig-zag patterns, maybe then the green thing wouldn't get him, because he knew that the scary green aeri would surely be able to outrun him.

The gilded mare became a bit unnerved at Aitumn's lope, but figured he was just more nervous than she was. She turned her head as he pulled nearer and opened her mouth to say some sort of calming phrase when her ears perked at the sudden panicked shout, emerald eyes wide. Then she was off, bolting as fast as she could towards where she'd last seen Tucker. Except, he was off to the side quite a ways off, heading towards the water, and not anywhere near the outcrop anymore. Up ahead, she could've sworn she saw a sickening flash of green.

Wary was the word for Aitumn, the feeling of something being up caused the tension in his muscles to increase and bunch, which perhaps made him more stiff in his movements then he'd been in any part of his life that he could remember. That is, until he heard the shout, the fearful call of his beloved son, that sent a flare of his spine unlike any other. There was no question as to what it was that caused such a thing to come from their lively, adventurous colt, and brought a fury and a pang to Aitumn's heart that seemed to explode into realization. The green Aeri caused this fear, a thing he had hoped to keep from Tucker during the ordeal. "TUCKER!" The call came from Aitumn, but to the blood bay it was an unfamilar voice, an echo of what he had known himself to be. Deep, unwarranted, and carried past the dunes as if the silence of the beach itself had been awoken and startled. It was a call to the white colt, unfearful and daunting, with the only intention of letting him know that Riruy was here, he was coming, and coming unfearfully to protect and defend. It was, after all, Aitumn's nature to face his challengers head-on. Zaknafein was such a challenger.

The very second he had heard such fear in their son's voice Aitumn's tension released itself in the form of a fierce sprint, spraying the sand out from under his hooves. Aitumn, in all his life, was a quick, agile sonofagun with the devout habit of throwing himself into reckless speeds. Such a thing had never been more true in how much of his life he could remember as now. There was no need for Aitumn to zig-zag, as his intention was to get to Zak as quickly as possibly, and for that he needed nothing more than the raw speed his rippling muscles provided easily and without warrant or much restriction. Yes the sands hindered him slightly, but the blood bay ate up the distance like it was nothing at all, not having a sheer clue as to where Cressida was at the moment. Ahead of him? Beside him? Behind him? As long as she was coming there was no problem, as his focus was on the green brute, to whom he now heard the hoofbeats.

There was a dune coming up, and over it Aitumn would be able to see the stretch of beach he knew Tucker and now Zaknafein would be on. One, two easy strides uphill and Aitumn gave a powerful push from his muscled hindlegs, unfurling his wings and arching his neck and back into a gliding lunge over the dune; dull, hollow eyes locked on the green Aeri who had made his final mistake. "Never bring Tucker into this!" He wasn't fool enough to deny the situation between himself and Zaknafein, but the involvement of Tucker threw the sleek Jala into a ferel fierceness.

Dammit! Little p***k crossblood called out for help, that would definatly alert the golden wretch, as well as the blood bay murderer if he was around. However, Tucker was correct. The sheer size and mass of Zaknafein made it very difficult for the Aeri to keep up and/or catch the snowy colt, as his hooves slipped along the sands. It made him all the more desperate, "Stop moving!" he even called out in frustration, as if the colt would heed his call. More hoofbeats now, over the other side of the dunes, and he knew his time was quickly running out. A final slip of his round hooves and Zaknafein decided to take a chance, win or lose, reaching his muzzle out with open jaws in hopes of snapping harshly onto the colt's rump, hopefully to snatch him and keep him from running. However, as that was being done the sheer closeness of another voice, of Aitumn, had him sneering. He was too close, his crimson eyes could see the unfurling of brown over the last dune. The golden wretch was soon to follow.

As she heard the call for both parents, Rhea sprinted after Cress and Aitumn. She didn't know who this Zak was, but she figured he was the reason why Tucker was yelling for help. Either way, she galloped as fast as she could after her daughter.

Even though the gilded mare was going faster than she'd gone before, Aitumn still pulled up beside her and sailed past. Still, she pushed herself as hard as she could and sped up, right behind the blood bay. She figured it was better that way, as Zak was pissed at Aitumn, although she wasn't sure what that had to do with who got there first. As long as Tucker wasn't harmed, that's all that mattered at the moment. After Aitumn's example, the gilded mare stretched out her wings and sailed over the dune as well, emerald eyes locking onto the pair almost immediately.

The snowy colt continued to gallop as fast as he could towards the water when he heard his father's voice, feeling a bit relieved at it, but knowing he could not stop where he was. He didn't have time to look for his sire over the dune, didn't have time to hope that he'd be saved before the green thing got him, and indeed he could feel how close the aeri was. He cast a swift glance behind him and was startled to see how close Zak really was, with mouth open and teeth bared. He snorted and pinned his ears back again, and swiftly flicked his tail upwards in hopes of hitting the large stallion on the nose or something.

At that point he'd reached the firmer, damp sand, and while he hoped Zak was at least a tiny bit distracted from his short tail, he wheeled around to the side and bolted off again in a half-circle before he decided to do a brave or foolish thing. He loped swiftly over to the green thing's barrel, being sure to avoid going near his neck for fear of being bitten, and leaned his head over. He had a sharp horn like ute did, he knew, and he'd learned that it was to be used for things like this. With a determined snort and, still loping as fast as he could, he attempted to drag his golden horn across the aeri's side before dashing off the way he'd run from. He wasn't sure if he'd gotten him or not, but either way he knew it would be hard for the thing to do a full turn and try to get him.
