The dance rumored to have originated from Bon Odori dance movements, has emerged from it's Japanese birthplace, and spread all around the world, getting kids from as far away as Brazil, into the groove. The songs used are typically Eurobeat numbers like this one, and the type of music, usually changes the kind of dancing done(TechPara being done to Hyper Techno, and ToraPara performed to trance music). What I want to know is, what do ya'll think of the ParaPara frenzy? And does anyone here ParaPara?

I think the new wave of gyaru (perhaps spurred on by the GalCir drama last year?) are still doing Para Para, but I didn't really see it when I was there. I saw some girls doing it in a train station once.
I like para para, and I can do about two dances from memory. Mostly, I don't have time for it. It's pretty good exercise, though, like any dance. Also, the more people tell me it's "stupid" the more I want to assert that I don't care what they think. whee
And, as a Eurobeat snob, I wouldn't really call the video you linked "typical." The anime remixes are kind of offshoots, since the original stuff is mostly in English and from Italy. I just think that the ridiculous lyrics of the English songs add to the charm. Plus, those girls look so uninterested in what they're doing. xd
PS: There are some really well-done dances from the Brazilians on YouTube. They tend to be even sharper than many of the professional dancers, and they choose fun songs. I'd look them up if you haven't seen them, (which you likely have, but others may not have.) keyword: paraparabrazil

The 'DDR' type game looks ridiculous. :XP: There is a Para Para Paradise machine that this one arcade imported from Japan that I used to go to...and it was like all pink and you had to stand under it while lights flashed, and you had to move your hands all sorts of ways. I personally dont' like parapara that much... gonk

I love ParaPara! I bought a Yoko Ishida ParaPara CD, and I've been hooked ever since. It's so much fun, even though at first it looks kinda stupid.

I remember playing Para Para a few years back. I loved that game next to DDR. Though, I never thought that it originated from the odori dance though. But I'm still fond of that game despite the fact that I don't have the time to play it that often.

Para Para confused ...... hmmm....... exclaim oh I Know what you are talking about. I saw Gakuto-sama dances to the Para Para version of the Mickey Mouse song once. It was funny. The Kinki Kids were doing it too. I liked it but I don't know if I would actually try it. *One lonely night when I'm be myself and no one is watching maybe wink but i don't know*

OMG Para Para is SO COOL! I enjoy watching it, but I have the coordination of a retarded chicken so I don't participate. Also, being of the Loli frame of mind, I don't dance unless it's cute, so yeah.
I tried Bon Odori @ a college festival though.

love para para :3 heart
I prefer to buy the dvds with models on, usually gazen parapara dvds. Last one I got was D-1 Matsuri. Mostly I love Rumi Ringo, plus models are thinner than most other paralists so it's er thinspiration I guess.
