Outskirts of the Skinner Camp

The Skinner Mining Company camp is surrouned by the fruits of their labor; for a good distance in any direction, the logging camp is surrounded by a forest of stumps and cut trees. Tracks from large machines have carved ruts in the sun-dried earth over the more commonly used routes.

The camp is positioned near a high precipice in the mountains, the way that the rock face is formed there is ample room for a decent sized camp to nestle between the protective walls of stone; though no buildings have been made too near the cliff face - a precaution against landslides and falling rock. Around the majority of the camp a tall wall of cut logs is being errected, currently it only covers the east side of the camp, but a small portion of the western wall has been completed already.

Guards with rifles are stationed both atop the wall and around the camp, each with a handheld radio used to contact the men inside.

Mooo looked over the map quizzically--he had been thrown into the thick of things the second he'd stepped off the bus with some of the other mercenaries and had wound up at the edge of the camp through a combination of following a group of people he didn't know and figuring that it would be a good idea to get a look at the complete area he'd be working in.

The site that greeted Mooo stunned the hell out of him--he'd grown up in a country home with a grove of trees nearby. Yeah, he'd seen stumps before as his old man had taken down a few trees for firewood and whatnot, but to see a completely levelled forest was a new sight to him. Oh well--this was the corporate world. They did things for their own reasons.

Mooo folded the map, then his arms, tilting his head as he glanced over at his companions--some were the basic thugs, others seemed much, much more unassuming. Oh well--they were all in this for the money, more or less, so he'd get to meet 'em soon enough. Time to punch in.

"Fuel depot, all that fuel out there with no one really out there that sucker is going to end up burning down so we don't want it to fall."

Coming out of the camp Quin saw another man, slowing down he yelled for him to get in back. Warm bodies were always good in battle and with the looks of these two they would be warm for a long long time.

"Good 'nough," Shou leaned back a little in his seat, gripping the 416's stock in his left and the top edge of the jeep (arm out the window holding the roof) with his right. He aimed to set himself in the vehicle that he might have a firm hold in the chance that they stop suddenly while he wasn't wearing a seatbelt and still keep that beautiful piece of steel in hand.

Basically he wasn't doing anything, but he sure looked koul.

Still just looking around (he could make it sound official by saying that he was surveying the outskirts), Mooo craned his neck around as he heard another man yelling for him to get back inside. Nodding and raising his hand to show that he'd heard the man, Mooo started jogging back, hearing the jarring crackle of his radio coming to life.

Indubitably, in the Barracks,
"Mooo! You reach the outskirts yet? Now, I know you're a mighty strong boy, but if you need some help out there, big ol' Jem'll come and spank those enemies for you. Just holler, ya read me?"

Holding his thumb on the Send button, Mooo replied, "Yeah, I got a good look-see, but one of the others is tellin' me to get back inside, so I'm gonna do that. I'm gonna be at the Fuel Depot, so if you see any explosions, just remember that it wasn't my fault--over," he finished with a chuckle, tucking the radio and map back into his pocket as he reached the Fuel Depot.

Well that's another one for the fires of war. Giving a small laugh as Quin gunned the engine once more they were on their way. To the depot they had to cross a field first, but it shouldn't take long. What with their speed and all.

If there was one thing that was bad about ATV's, it was probably the fact that jeeps were faster, a fact that Hein was beginning to hate...a lot...with passion. Growling low, he kicked the sides and revved the engine once more as he began to follow the jeep in the distance.

The massive truck rumbled through the gates, a steady plod that seemed to ignore any obstacle or it's cargo. Jacob was unfolding a map, and trying to figure out exactly where they were going.

He had to at least look in charge. A mercenary had to be more valuable than the driver, who spoke up, "What're we going to do once we reach tha depot?"

The truck rolled towards the beyond, and Jacob's mind switched to defensive battlements and bayonets.

One of the mercenaries that had arrived with Mooo's group was a large man with obvious cybernetic panel lines along his olympian physique. He had a large plastic Standing beside him was a pretty and athletic looking israeli woman who was dressed entirely inappropriately for the location. While not the latest in fashion, they were still expensively-designed clothing that would likely get easily ruined in the environment.

The two headed towards the Barracks to check in.

Merry and her twelve thugs in jeeps and on bikes roared away from the barracks, intent on getting toward the dam, her assigned objective.

The armed phalanx rode away, leaving a cloud of dust in their wake. They headed directly into the clear-cut land to the south of the Skinner camp.

Another dirt bike whizzed out of the gates, towards the open warfare taking place in the field of stumps.

Shortly after, on foot, a few dozen more men charged out.

Their armaments consisted from knives and chains to pistols and shotguns. They were hardly the best suited for military combat, but they'd certainly put a hurting on someone if they couldn't defend themselves.

The outskirts of the camp. A place where people kept guard and hopefully Quin would find a wench at some point within. Waving to the night guard he was recognised as one of the ones that had gone out earlier.

"Hey guys, know where I can find a whore for the night?"

The men exchanged looks and shrugged before the one on the left narrowed his eyes.

"Try behind the barracks, but keep it on the low. Be bad for a good thing to dissapear."

Nodding in thanks he gave them a little something for their troubles. It wasn't much, but half a day's pay is extra money.

"One of you got a radio I can use? Wouldn't be in this damn mess if I had one."

This time it was the one on the right, he handed Quin a radio and asked just what had happened to the dam.

"I'll tell you what. A crazy bugger stabbed it with a sword and cleaved the damn thing in half. Killed all the people on top 'cept me and that's because he was too busy destroying everything."

They fell quiet at that. No one would like the idea of a lone man destroying such a collasal of engineering work. It would take time for them to except it and many of them wouldn't, not untill they saw that monster. That is if their brains could even rationlise that such a person existed before they were killed.

Waving them off he continued deeper into the camp. Heading for the Barracks.
