Dead Woods

The Dead Woods are for the most part alive, but doomed. The most healthy trees are marked with red Xs, a sign that those are to be cut first when the loggers come through. The rest will go soon after.

The river begins in the Dead Woods and runs through them until it emerges near the lake and the Fuel Depot... or at least it would if the Dam hadn't been built. Now it is simply a dry riverbed, an easy path through the dense trees. The forest around the river is so used to having a constant supply of water that, without it, the plants have dried up and the trees are withering and dying.

At the head of the river is a shallow pool full of jagged rocks; all that remains of what had once been a waterfall from the cliffs above. There are rough paths that can be followed up the steep and rocky hillside in order to reach the base of the dam, but be careful not to fall.

Due to the destruction of the dam, much of the Dead Woods has been torn up by the rushing floodwaters. While the majority of the water has already flowed through, there is still almost a foot of water sitting stagnant in the lower sitting areas... turning the forest into a swamp.

The stench of decay permiated everything as the group walk on rotting leaves and mushrooms. Rivan shuddered with disgust.

[From: Fuel depot]
The huge excavation dump-truck, twenty-feet high and thirty or so long, blasted through the rough edge of the woods explosively, massive engine and wheels making it easy to access the riverbed over dead shrubs. Once within, it was a rough ride... but manageable. They moved quickly, with the twenty-four riders in tow.

Jacob groaned when he saw the winding path ahead. No way the truck could ever make it up that.
"Alright...Out we go..."

Yes, the group moved even faster through these woods. They made sure to keep a good distance from the riverbed- they'd detect anyone moving along this obvious pathway long before they were detected by anyone else. Stryphe made sure to give this plenty of attention.

Certainly, anyone driving around would give themselves away long before having any hope of finding the three man guerilla group.

"half out!" Sam bellowed, her voice reaching into the back of the truck. "You..." She turned to the dirver. "Drive this thing as close as you can get to the dam bottom. " She belllowed again, Watch for anything! Shoot first, ask later."

The truck followed up the dry riverbed, so they wouldn't have to get rid of it. It could still come in handy. Sam was also still on lookout with her rifle, looking for anything.

The driver, radioed in the information, and waited for instructions. Even Sam had to smile when she heard the instructions. "All out!" She barked through to the back." She then leaned over to the driver, I want you to drive this up as far as you can, and ram it into anything that looks like it's not supposed to be there. Make it go splat, k?" She smiled and patted his shoulder, before jumping out herself, grabbing the can of fuel...just in case.
((And so...onto the bottom of the dam))

Rivan caught the sound of trucks struggling over trees and brush far to the south. By the sound of it, it didn't seem they were headed toward the group, but to be sure, Rivan did a quick mental scan.

"No, non of them know of us, or are coming this way."

Rivan sighed deeply and continued his hike.

As Hakan entered the Dead Woods, he gave a look at his companions, and then made his way up into the trees. It wasn't long before he was hidden in the foilage, and even his own teammates wouldn't be able to tell where he was, as he moved from tree to tree.

A grin crosses his face, as he headed on his own towards the Fuel Depot, through the trees. Staying hidden, of course. It might take him a little longer going from branch to branch and staying hidden, but it'd be worth it, in the end.

The group followed the direction of the riverbed that separated them and the noisy miners- probably heading to reinforce the dam.

Stryphe didn't move as stealthily as Hakan, but he did his best- and it was good enough for him to go undetected from this side of the river with plenty of dead trees in between him and the opposition. It wouldn't be long before they'd hit the depot.

((To the depot.))

Suddenly the rook was surrounded by marked trees.

It never noticed though, it was too busy powering through.

Sey clutched onto Eint as it barreled through the woods, holding onto the White Mage tightly with his glowing arms.

"Some of the Shades and the Villagers were speaking of a Dam that the Miners had made. Some of the Shades had spoken about the tactical advantage the river would cause, since people trying to forge it would have to do it at certain points we'd know about. It's the Dam we want to destroy - Come on Eint!" Sey yelled all this to Sunstrike and Flare as she passed them in the arms of her Guardian.

The driver was constantly looking around him, when he saw the 'Rook', which the narrator hopes to go wasn't actually a 'Rook'. The dirt flew off as the guy reveded the engine, hoping he was going to get a bonus for this and sped up, as fast as he could. going to ram the damned thing for all he was worth. Mack truck vs...huge piece of chess....Let's see how it'd go.

There was a few simmalar things between a Rook and an actual Rook. For one the thing was build like a castle, and secondly it liked going straight. So as the driver sped up so did the rook. Head on colision it looked like.

Not likely.

The Rook's run lead into a leap, something it's powerful legs allowed it to do. With a crunching sound it landed on the bed of the truck, and began moving again. A second leap, this time onto the rock wall.

And it began to climb.

Sey's eyes widened as she saw a massive shade barreling through the woods - and the rumble of a, Sweet Light! A TRUCK?!

"Sunstrike! Flare!"
Turning to look back at them, Sey urged Eint to run faster as she focused on the Rook.

"Falis! Protect those seeking Peace and Redemption! I beg you as your humble servant, Protect Him!" A flash of light would appear around the Rook and a Luminescent Shield formed, encasing the charging Shade in a protective blanket. If the truck connected, the Shade would be fine.

Truck keeps barrelling ahead and crashes into trees and go boom, per GM's request.
