There is a common English word that is nine letters long. Each time you remove a letter from it, it still remains an English word - from nine letters right down to a single letter. What is the original word, and what are the words that it becomes after removing one letter at a time?
Edit: there are 8 other words that can be made from the original word.
I'll post the answer in 2 weeks time.

Silence is the thing that can be killed with a single word.
And the two coins that make up 30 cents are a quarter and a nickel. One of them isn't a nickel, the other is.
