The end of the year is always a busy time, and this year Destiny City is no different! Thankfully, the city seems to have things under control--for the most part. You can't always guarantee a peaceful Winter Holiday, but at least things will be interesting! Roleplay Opportunities to earn raffle tickets will be open from now until ~6 PM EST on Sunday, January 5th, but players can use roleplays started as early as December 1st towards their ticket and prize claims. The raffle will be rolled after a ticket list is compiled and winners will have 72 hours to contact the shop mule, The Space Cauldron, with their preference list. Anyone who does not respond within 72 hours will forfeit their slot. Mini-Games and other prize opportunities will end at 11:59 PST PST on January 5th. Information about the requirements to claim a prize, as well as a list of prizes, can be found below!

Rules and Information All players are eligible to participate in the Winter Holiday Event and can earn Tickets for our Raffle, can win Individual Participation Prizes, and can play to complete our Winter Bingo Board. Players who are over Character Cap cannot win new powered art in the raffle, but they can win Alternate Civilian outfits; this civilian art can be used for existing characters or new characters. Players who are on cooldown can still win new art; prizes won in the raffle do not go on any character cooldown.
Prompts will take place around Destiny City and participation is completely optional! Players will not miss out on meta opportunities by skipping this event. Participation is entirely optional, however it is the only way to earn event related prizes!
Up to five raffle tickets can be earned for writing 500 words in any roleplay or solo; players do not need to use event prompts but can earn a ticket for any roleplay or solo started as of December 1st, and that has at least 500 words as of 6PM EST Sunday, January 5th.
Characters can participate as powered or civilian unless otherwise stated; these prompts are free to play with. You may choose to use the prompt as inspiration for a roleplay; it does not need to follow the prompt exactly but it must be clearly inspired by or related to it in some way!
If you are a new player who is interested in joining, please remember that you can get your first civilian character for free! Information can be found here! If you need help setting up a profile, you can PM The Space Cauldron and we'll be able to work with you!
Roleplay opportunities will only be open from now until ~6 PM EST on Sunday, January 5th. At that point in time, the raffle list will be finalized and we will begin rolling. Players will have 72 hours to submit prize preferences, and winners will be announced at the 72 hour mark or as soon as all winners have sent in their preference list.
Mini-Games and Special RP Prompts will have rules unique to the game; please see those threads for their specific information!
All other shop rules apply during this event. Have fun!

Ticket Opportunities and RP Prompts
Ticket Opportunities
Tickets can be earned from any roleplay or solo started through Sunday, December 1st until 6PM EST Sunday, January 5th, when the raffle is anticipated to be rolled. Roleplays or solos do not need to be finished but players must write at least 500 words to earn a ticket. Players do not need to use event themed prompts, but the shop has provided a few for inspiration, including some refreshed legacy prompts and some new ones!
Players can earn up to five tickets for the raffle. If you want to write for a prompt for requirements, or just for fun, that’s fine! To claim a ticket, you will need to fill out the following code and post it in this thread! Please do not edit old posts to add new tickets; make a new post. Tickets may be missed if you edit old posts. The ticket list will be updated at the end of each day so players can check that their tickets are there, but if you edit an old post after the list was compiled for the day then it will be missed. I AM CLAIMING A TICKET Link to thread: [link to the thread you are claiming for; if you are responding to a prompt, make sure you indicate which prompt you are responding to either in this form or the thread!] PromptsAll prompt responses must be posted in the Mini-Event subforum and can be written as a solo, a regular, or a battle (if applicable!). These should be labelled [Event-S], [Event-R], or [Event-B]. If you roleplay a disposable, these will not count towards any growth requirements for them, but if you are roleplaying with someone who has a disposable, it can still count for growth for your official character. To be eligible for any prizes, you must write at least five hundred words per roleplay. You should include the prompt you are using in the first post of the RP or Solo. The roleplay does not have to be finished to count towards a prize (unless otherwise stated) but it will need to be finished before it can be used for growth requirements. While these events are written so that you only need a civilian to participate, you can play a powered character! In addition to a few new prompts for this year, we are recycling some prompts from previous years so characters who didn't get to participate before can experience them now! Please remember--prompts are meant to be inspirations for your roleplays. You do not have to follow them completely, but the roleplay or solo should be obviously inspired by or related to the prompt you are using. Legacy Prompts:Quote: Cryogenic Crisis (1) : A strange phenomenon has overtaken the flora of Destiny City. Most prevalent in large trees, but occurring also in saplings, bushes, and any wooded plant, the color seems to be completely draining and the plants are becoming oddly crystalline. Leaves and bark especially almost seem to be turning to ice, and observant passersby might notice that the trees seem to be crystalizing. They are cold to the touch and even seem to melt under heat. The increased weight has made it dangerous to walk beneath any of these trees; branches also snap and fall, and even leaves and small twigs can become dangerous projectiles. Scientists have said there is a pollutant in the water causing a strange chemical reaction, but there’s still something suspicious about it. Destiny City has employed some specialists to treat the afflicted trees, and some already seem to be in various stages of recovery–but if you’re out and about, chances are that you’ll still find a few of these arborous anomalies. Quote: Snowbunnies (2) : Winter seems to bring out the cutest of all rodents; this isn’t the first time that small, white rabbits have infested Destiny City. They’re small, rarely larger than a guinea pig, and have large eyes and wiggling noses. They are always pure white and seem to show up whenever there’s snow. They aren't menacing or evil, they're just everywhere. They seem strangely domesticated; they are sweet, curious, and friendly creatures that will eat anything you give them. They always seem cold to the touch, and when they shake, little snowflakes sprinkle off of them. While they seem to be social creatures who seem to appreciate anything warm and will cuddle up to steal body heat, they are too skittish and fast to be kept for pets. They can show up just about anywhere, either alone or--often--in pairs. They tend to wander off on their own without any trouble, but if you surprise them or try to catch or hurt them, they may bite. Their little teeth are enough to break skin, but after one bite they run away. The bite itself isn’t bad, but the effects are a bit unpleasant: for roughly two days after the bite, the injury is cold and the victim will feel random, cold, shooting pains. Their core body temperature will drop and they will often be sent into random fits of shivering. No medicine seems to help, and no amount of blankets or hot baths can soothe the chill. You're just going to have to deal with it and hope it gets better… Most experiences with the bunnies are perfectly pleasant, you just have to worry about them burrowing. There are holes peppering Destiny City, and with the fresh fallen snow it can be impossible to tell where they are hiding. The holes range from small holes to several feet deep, so can be a minor inconvenience to a potential hazard. On the bright side, sometimes you wind up covered in bunnies looking for warmth from their sudden guest. On the other hand, there are a rising number of trips to the hospital for twists and sprains. The bunnies always leave with the snow, so best to enjoy them--or avoid them--for as long as you can. Quote: Frozen Time (3) : Midnight is a magical time of night; parties, dancing, kisses--there are a number of rituals celebrated in the winter nights. Every night has a midnight, but this one is special. There is an old church and bell tower on the quiet outskirts of town, near a beautiful forest that has been decorated with lights to celebrate the season. Maybe you are alone, maybe you are with friends, or maybe you’re at a party celebrating one of the many events--whatever the case, small, delicate snowflakes have been falling lightly for the past hour. And then--suddenly--they stop. The clock strikes midnight and the bell echoes a low, metallic chime that feels like it can be heard for miles. By the second chime, you realize that nothing else is moving. Snowflakes are suspended in the air and all living creatures--plants, animals, and people alike--are completely frozen. The clock chimes twelve times and the world is still frozen. Suddenly, there’s no way to tell how much time has passed--but nothing moves. Maybe it feels like a moment, maybe it feels like an hour. You can try to leave the area but you can never go far enough that the church is out of sight. In an instant, time seems to snap back into motion. To everyone else, it feels like no time has passed. To you, you know. The church seems eerie and foreboding and if you return you feel uncomfortable, as though you have broken something and are unwelcome. If roleplaying with a partner, multiple characters can remain unfrozen as the world around them freezes! Quote: Snow Fairies (4) : On a cold winter night, when the moon is nearly full and bright in the sky, you hear laughter. At first, you can't place it, but then you feel little pokes and prods, tugs on your hair, your clothes. Sometimes you think you see something out of the corner of your eye--a small, icy body. Sometimes you hear wings flapping in the night. As long as you are out in the cold, you feel eyes on you and you find yourself the target of small mischief from what seems to be icy little fairies, though they move too fast for you to see or grab. They never speak, only laugh. When you go inside, or venture anywhere with too much light or heat, they seem to disappear and do not bother you again. Quote: Sweet Treats (5) : There’s no shortage of holiday themed popup shops and specials at your local places, and after a long day there’s nothing better than a nice treat for yourself. Maybe you decided to try something new, maybe it was a gift, maybe you got one of the coupons in the mail to try the place out–however you wound up with this drink, you’re in for a good time. No matter what your preferences are, the drink is delicious. Hot, cold, sweet, bitter–there’s a version of it for everyone. But, the flavor isn’t what makes the drink so special–it’s how good it makes you feel. There’s no alcohol in it, but drinking it can leave someone feeling tipsy, warm, and in a general good mood. Inhibitions aren’t lowered and there’s no negative repercussions for having the drink; it might make children more hyper, but the drink just has the ability to put someone in a pleasant mood. Quote: Mysterious Carolers (6) : Caroling has been a tradition for years, so it’s not really unusual when you hear a soft chorus from outside. What is unusual is that it’s three in the morning, and the moment they start singing you feel a chill in the air. Maybe it’s a holiday song, maybe it’s not, but whatever it is it’s a song you know before--from this life? From another?--and something about this version makes you go cold. If you move to the window, you will find no carolers, but the song is loud enough that you know you should be able to see them. They sing one song, and then there is silence. An eerie chill lingers, and your dreams are haunted by strange voices. You’ll probably never be able to hear that song again without feeling unnerved. New Prompts:Quote: Climb High and Ride Far (7) : In the middle of a metropolis, there aren’t many opportunities to get out and appreciate a nice snowfall. Sure, maybe you can look out of your window and appreciate the beauty of nature, but when was the last time you got to do something fun, like go sledding? Maybe never! This year, Destiny City has gone out of their way to set up the perfect hill for sledding–sixty feet tall, four hundred feet long, in a recently landscaped area of land close to the heart of the city. Vendors have set up stalls with snacks and artisan goods, and you can bring your own sled, innertube, skis or snowboard–or borrow, courtesy of the city, if you don’t have one already. Whether there’s been recent snow or not, DCU has some artificial, environmentally friendly artificial snow to keep the slopes fresh. You might not find an opportunity like this without heading elsewhere in the city, so why not take advantage of some fresh, free Winter fun? Quote: Fire Opal ( 8 ) : On a cold winter night, there’s nothing nicer than burning a nice log in the fire. Looking like any average piece of lumber, the neatly chopped log you selected has no clear indication that there’s something special about it–until the fire gets to it. A typical fire should be red and orange and yellow, and yet this one circles through all colors of the rainbow. It smells fragrant and pleasant, and there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with it–it just burns in beautiful, vibrant colors. As the wood burns, opalescent cracks appear through it, casting a shimmering light enhanced by the flames. By the end of it, only rainbow embers remain, sparkling like dark opals, and even they eventually lose their color and crumble away. Quote: Sounds of the Season (9) : Seasonal songs play constantly this time of the year, and between old classics and new hits, there’s always something for everyone on the quest for Holiday cheer. One song, more than all the rest, is hitting hard. It’s catchy and festive and even though you’ve heard it a hundred times, it’s still exciting whenever it comes on again. Something about this song fills you with such joy and merriment that it’s almost impossible to resist the urge to spontaneously dance or sing along with it. There’s something magical about it; it’s an instant mood lifter and can make even the chilliest winter days feel a little warmer. Quote: Pinecone Projectile (10) : A strange anomaly has befallen Destiny City. Ordinarily, a falling pine cone would hardly be worth noticing; there are plenty of them littering the city on a daily basis. However, recently some of these pine cones are causing a bit of noise. Scientists are blaming some bacteria in the trees natural sap as being responsible, but some pine cones are falling to the ground and making loud crackling, popping sounds–or worse, exploding upon contact. As if the sound of small explosives aren’t enough, some reports even claim to have witnessed sparks and small fires. You’d better be careful when walking around any areas with trees–and definitely don’t start throwing these just to see what happens! Quote: The Real Cinnamon Challenge (11) : In a city this size, a little smog is inevitable–no matter how hard the local scientists are working to produce clean air for the many citizens. A thick, brown fog has recently been known to roll in. It would be easy to brush this off as standard pollution–except for the overwhelming smell of cinnamon. The odor is potent enough to be immediately recognizable, and worse than that, it hits you like a wave of cinnamon, too. If you inhale, you will almost immediately find that your mouth feels dry, and your lungs are quick to follow. The smoke burns your eyes and breathing becomes difficult. Just being out in the cinnamon smog can cause coughing, vomiting, or other irritation. If you thought the cinnamon brooms were bad, wait until you catch a whiff of this. It’s probably best to just stay inside and spare yourself the worst of it. Quote: The Least Traveled Path (12) : In addition to the beautiful seasonal displays, the local botanical garden has set up a beautiful winter maze. Dense, lopsided fir trees that couldn’t be sold for holiday decor have been utilized to create the walls. The ability to disappear in the maze is impressive; the trees are so dense that it’s impossible to see through them, and if you try to push through them you’ll only wind up scratching or cutting yourself. You’re never really too far from the entrance or exit, and you can hear the voices of other people exploring the maze, or the celebrations at the festively decorated pavilion, but the deeper you get, the further away from all of those things you feel. For a moment, it feels like you’ve wandered into some alternate universe; the voices disappear and you feel alone. You can’t hear anyone–and they can’t hear you. You can’t see anything over the tall maze walls, and no matter where you go, you can’t seem to find your way out. Everything starts to feel cold and distant–and then suddenly all color, all smells, all sounds return. You still feel a little out of place but it’s nothing you can’t shake off. If you could just find your way out of here, first. Quote: Mirror in the Sky (13) : This time of year, the air is unusually clear and crisp. Maybe that’s why you’ve noticed something a little unusual in the sky. At first glance, it appears to be normal clouds–light, fluffy, scattering slowly in the wind, but something keeps catching your eye, like the sunlight is reflecting of a traveling plane–only, nothing’s there. Just the clouds. And they can’t be that reflective, right? Wrong. After a moment of random lights flashing out of the corner of your eye, you finally see it–the clouds themselves look like mirrors, reflecting the light of the sun right back down at you. The clouds are moving back and forth, like the tide going in and out. There’s probably some scientific explanation for why the clouds look like an ocean in the sky but why take the time to look it up when you could just appreciate how beautiful it is? It is especially lovely if you can manage to catch it as the sun is going down. Just don’t stare directly into it, you wouldn’t want to hurt your eyes. But then again, maybe if you look hard enough you’ll see something everyone else is missing… Quote: Cardinal Companion (14) : In the dismal whites and blues and greys of winter, the bright red splash of a cardinal is a welcome difference. It’s not uncommon to see birds out and about, and it’s easy to spot these especially after a fresh snow. Wild birds typically mind their own business and don’t really care about you–except, this one does. An unusually curious cardinal finds you the subject of interest in its day, and oddly enough–it feels familiar to you. You can’t explain it, but the moment your eyes land on it, it feels like coming face to face with someone dear to you. The cardinal isn’t afraid of you and feels comfortable enough to approach you, or maybe even land on you. Perhaps it’s even brought you some small gift. The more time you spend with it, the more you pick up on its unique habits, which seem to have an uncanny resemblance to someone you’ve lost. Sometimes the cardinal even smells of them, or has similar traits. The cardinal doesn’t ever stay for long but when it leaves there is an undeniable feeling that someone very important to you has paid you a visit. Quote: Snow…Angels? (15) : After a fresh snowfall, is there anything better than laying down in the snow and making your own mark? Snow angels are simple and easy. Except, for some reason, every time you try to make one it turns into some horrible monster. No matter how many you attempt, or how correctly you do it, by the time you get up there is only the silhouette of a horrifying creature lying where you just were. Sometimes it hardly even looks human. Quote: Snowy Showdown (16) : There’s something magical about fresh fallen snow–completely undisturbed and untouched by the rest of the world. It should be relaxing and peaceful–a sign that no one has been around and you’re perfectly safe. Except, the best predators lie in wait, completely invisible to their prey. What do you do when a patch of snow starts clumping together and taking shape right before your eyes? When it all comes together, it looks like a person, only there are no features, just a snowy white form. Maybe there wouldn’t have been an issue if you hadn’t seen it, but it’s too late. In frantic, panicked movements, it lunges at you with icy fists. It feels like being pelted with snowballs, but each hit lowers your core body temperature–rapidly. The creature is highly susceptible to heat and will melt if exposed to it; if you hit it, snow splatters everywhere. It may attempt to reform, but eventually it loses strength. You might not want to stick around to see if it just needs a little more time. If the creature manages to knock you unconscious, you may wake up covered in snow and with a bad cold. You may be more aware of strange, snowy figures that seem to be standing around in odd places; who knows where these things are hiding? Note: This strange snow monster is not a youma but can be used as a battle requirement for a character. It can only be used as a battle if there are two powered characters involved; you cannot write a solo and count this as a battle, and your character must be powered to meet battle requirements. You can use the prompt for as many characters as you like and it will count as a battle requirement, however if you repeat the prompt with the same character, only the first time will be usable as a battle.

For more information on purchasing IC RP Items, please see this post! All IC RP Items can also be found here. Before the end of the event, the IC RP Item thread will be updated to include all new RP Items released in this event! Quote: Snowflake Shaker Keychain - a small keychain half the size of your palm. It is a clear acrylic with a pretty snowflake border and small acrylic snowflake charms inside. It can be found in Destiny City, or on Homeworlds/Wonders, Mirrorspace, and the Dark Kingdom, and may be slightly more stylized depending on such. When the user holds the keychain up to their eye and shakes, the area in front of them and visible through the keychain will begin to snow. This can cover a 50’x50’ area and will snow for one hour regardless of the natural temperature. During this point in time, the snow can fall up to three inches. When the hour ends, the area will immediately return to its natural state and the snow will melt. The magic will only work once but the keychain can be kept as a memento. Quote: Woodland Wreath - a beautiful wreath crown made of varying twigs, flowers, leaves, and berries. It can be found in Destiny City, or on Homeworlds/Wonders, Mirrorspace, and the Dark Kingdom, and may be slightly more stylized depending on where it was acquired. When worn atop the head, the user will find that all wildlife in the surrounding area will become enamored and friendly to them. Any animal will be inclined to approach and will behave in a docile manner. Animals that might ordinarily be hostile towards the user or other animals will become gentle. This does not influence the behavior of Mauvians, summons, or youma, and may not work in events without approval. It can work on animals found on Homeworlds or Wonders. The magic will only work once and will last for up to an hour. The items used to make the wreath will never wither and will become instantly preserved once the magic ends; it can be kept as a memento. Purchasing Limited Edition ItemsPlayers can also purchase limited edition IC RP Items that have been released in previous events from now through January 5th! For more information on purchasing IC RP Items, please see this post! While you cannot claim any prizes that were given out as top rollers or in special limited circumstances, you can purchase any IC RP Item that has been previously released!

Individual Participation RewardsSometimes luck isn’t on anyone’s side; this prize rewards participation without any competitive nature! When a player completes five roleplays or solos that reach 500 words, they can claim one Growth Item or one IC RP item from our regular pool of one time use IC Items, from our current Limited Edition IC RP Item Pool, or any item from a previous Limited Edition IC RP Item Pool (with the exception of any items that were given out as special/exclusive rewards in certain RPs). You cannot claim an IC RP Item or any Item that was winnable in a player run event, however you have access to any IC RP Item given out in a similar staff run event. When a player completes ten roleplays or solos that reach 500 words, they will have the option to claim one permanent accessory or enhancement. If they do not want either of those, they can instead claim one Growth Item/one time use IC RP Item! When a player completes fifteen roleplays or solos that reach 500 words, they can claim one Crown Token or one Cosmic Companion. There are no prizes for doing more than fifteen roleplays. Any roleplays or solos started during the event's opening and close can be counted towards Individual Participation Prize rewards! You do not need to do event prompts to earn tickets. RPs do not have to be finished before the event ends, but we will be keeping our eyes on roleplays to make sure they are moving forward; we want to reward players for their activity, but if roleplays are being started and only played to word count without actually finishing, this will negatively impact how we choose to release events and rewards to the shop. Please try to finish all of the roleplays you start! To claim these rewards (growth items, one time use items or permanent accessories) you will need to use the following form and post in this thread: I would like to turn in (#) roleplays for a reward! link Trading for: (What are you claiming? If you are claiming for an RP Item but don't know which one yet, just say 'IC RP Item/Enhancement/Permanent RP Item' ; you can PM the mule to claim your item if you need more time)

Please also remember to edit your claim into your Growth Item Log or your IC RP Item Log log! You cannot gift this item to anyone else! This is for you, and you alone! You will have up until 11:59 PM (PST) on Sunday, January 5th to claim for Individual Participation Prizes! Roleplays must be started between now and then but. They do not need to be finished to count towards Individual Participation Prizes, but they must have at least 500 words posted for you to claim them. Any roleplay started until the deadline can be used to earn Individual Participation Prizes; they do not have to be based on Event prompts.
