A lone, sentient entity that approached omniscient and omnipotent. The First Power created the Celestials and the Aspirants to help them govern all of creation. The Aspirants wanted everything to stay exactly as the First Power intended, long after the First Power faded from existence. The Celestials believed that the Universe should continue to grow, expand, and create new life. Due to their diverging views, the Celestials and Aspirants went to war with one another. This War of Creation sparked the Mutliverse as well as the different Dimensions inside of each Universe.
After having won the war, the Celestials realized that their ranks had been depleted. There was only a couple of them left. So they started to seed planets with energy that would form into new Celestials over time. They also helped to cultivate environments that were most likely to produce other Sentient beings which were intended to help them protect the Universes (and Dimensions). The energy from the life cycle would also help to feed into the Celestial growing inside of each seeded planet's core.
In tampering with the planets they seeded, The Celestials also laid the genetic blueprints for mutants and mutates alike. As they traveled, they noticed that some species around the Universes were more destructive than others. If certain species were left by themselves, they often killed one another as well as their planet before moving to a next one. This killed the Celestial growing inside of the planet before they were ready to emerge. So to combat this, the Celestials created creatures which would later be known as Deviants.
Deviants protected the Mutliverse and the dimensions inside of each one until they realized the horror of their task. They turned against the Celestials and pruned Sentience just enough to ensure that the seeded Celestial never rise and destroy the planet. When the Celestials realized this they created the Immortals in order to combat them...after all, a planet needed to be overloaded with Sentient beings for a new Celestial to rise from the ashes of the planet.

Some with powers so extreme that they became a danger to themselves and others. Some even developed powers strong enough to create their own empires. The later often were turned against by their own people and done away with. Either way, these humans with powers would later be what is referred to as Mutants.
Approximentally 4,000 years ago, the Kree and Skrull began an arduous war. For a long time it would seem like the Skrull, with their ability to shape shift and infiltrate any species, were winning. The tide turned when a group of Kree discovered inhabits from a planet orbiting a sun in the Milkyway Galaxy - Earth. They found that humans had a genetic makeup that made them very versatile. They were able to infuse Kree dna and blood in their system with limited negative results. Once the genetic modifications occurred and they were exposed to a mutagen known as Terragenisis, the hybrids became Inhumans.
These inhumans developed powers beyond what the Kree had seen before. The Kree also made a general with which to control the inhumans. This General took on the name Hive. After a long period of being forced to war for the Kree, Hive led the inhumans in a revolt against them. In order to save face, the Kree were forced to abandon the inhumans and leave the Milkyway Galaxy. Hive and the Inhumans settled peacefully back on planet Earth for a while; over time, as other species came to Earth, the inhumans began to see the bloodlust and power hungry nature of Hive. They worked together to banish him to the planet Maveth using Kree technology. Then they founded isolated civilizations such as Afterlife and faded into obscurity.
By large, the Inhumans took no future part in Earth's civilizations. Some of them did leave the Inhuman settlements and integrated into other human civilizations, passing down their Kree DNA in an extremely dormant form. They carried with them the knowledge of their parents but overtime it became skewed and obscure. This led to cults of humans worshipping Kree technology such as the different Obelisks and Diviners. As they wanted to be left alone, the Inhuman did not came out of their sanctuaries to reclaim any of the technology. Nor did they correct the cults that began to worship one of the original Inhumans such as the cult that would later be known as Hydra.
As the Inhumans settled back into life on Earth, other beings of powers started to take interest in the Earth. For example the Asgardians entrusted a powerful weapons to a trusted group of humans upon seeing the potential in human kind - infinity stones. Over time these infinity stones, such as the mind stone and the space stone, have been imbedded in human inventions and have helped humans keep their planet safe. Unfortunately it also had the consequence of sparking many power struggles and problems of their own.
tab tab tab tab tab tab π π π£ π π tab π π π£ π€ ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββAs humans developed more complex and scientifically advanced cultures around the world, they continued to search for ways to improve. This search for improvement was one of the major issues which sparked World War II. Hydra had integrated itself as a research and science division of the Nazi regime. Abraham Erskine, a Hydra scientist, created a serum that was meant to enhance and restructure the human genome to take it to the panicle of human capabilities. Johann Schmidt injected himself with the serum and underwent the treatments before Erskine believed it to be ready. As a result, Johann Schmidt mutated into the Red Skull; he received physical enhancements but at a cost. His drive for perfection lead Erskine into escaping to America and abandoning Hydra and the Nazi regime. He continued his research to perfect the serum in order to combat the evils he saw happening around him before he fled.
As Erskine worked on his serum, there were other agents of Hydra working under the Nazi regime that were pushing their own agenda. Klaus Schmidt, for example, was at Auschwitz and pushing for the development of mutants. He found a couple of young mutants in the camps. Erik Lehnsherr was his greatest success. By January 27, 1945, Klaus Schmidt had to abandon his efforts. In the years of the war, Erskine had indeed perfected his serum. And he used it on a boy from Brooklyn by the name of Steve Rogers. He and his team of Howling Commanders partnered up with two people that was said to be almost as tough as the super soldier himself - James Howlett and Victor Creed. Together they rescued the Jewish at the camp and forced Klaus Schmidt to flee.
Steve Rogers under the mantel of Captain America put an end to many Hydra bases at this time. His last act during World War II lead to him defeating Johann Schmidt and burying the Tesseract in the ocean with the both of them. This selfless action lead the S.S.R, more specifically Peggy Carter, into forming S.H.I.E.L.D. The Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division was meant to guard humanity against threats that they didn't understand like Captain America had with Hydra and the Tesseract. Unfortunately, Hydra hadn't been finished off with the death of one of their leaders and the fall of the Nazis. They simply embedded themselves into S.H.I.E.L.D and the World Council and continued to bide their time.
Before they completely fell, however, a scientist by the name of Dr. Werner Reinhardt had many Chinese Prisoners sent to Austria. He put them under extreme experimentation and forced them to touch an artifact that he called the Obelisk. It killed everyone who touched it except for one woman that the others had been trying to protect - Jiaying. Before he could find out why their base was raided by the S.S.R (which was still forming into S.H.I.E.L.D).

The idea of a super soldier program inspired many other regimes to try and recreate it's success. One early Russian programs actually came close; the Winter Soldier program. One of the participants had been an unwilling American soldier by the name of Bucky Barnes that the Soviets had rescued from the snow. He, along with other soldiers, were experimented on and forced to take ethically dubious missions before being put into a cryo-sleep. And even though the United States Government liked to consider itself morally superior to Hydra as well as the Soviet Union, they were not immune from trying to recreate the success of Captain America. They started the Weapon Program which experimented both on normal civilians as well as any mutant they could get their hands on. Another program, under Brian Banner, began to look into Gamma radiation as a key to create more super soldiers.
Other super power issues came to the world stage in 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. In order to combat the rising power of the Hellfire Club, Agent Moira McTagger, underneath the American Government, formed the first Mutant Division. This movement brought together Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr. Together they found a bunch of mutants to take on Klaus Schmidt. In the fight, the existence of Mutants was revealed to the world.Erik Lensherr took on the mantel of Magneto and leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants after he killed Klaus Schmidt. Xavier went on to separate himself from the American Government and form the X-men. It wasn't until the following year that Magneto would once more make headlines as he took the fall for the assassination of JFK. What most people weren't aware was the fact that Magneto had been trying to stop the assassination as JFK was a fellow mutant. He had been unsuccessful as there had been two shooters - the successful one had been none other than the Winter Soldier Bucky Barnes.
Magneto and his Brotherhood of Mutants were hunted down. Most of them were killed in various experiments while the leader, Magneto, was imprisoned underneath the Pentagon. While he was imprisoned, a company called Trask continued to develop weapons to hunt down and face the Mutant Threat as it became known. By the end of the Korean DMZ conflict, Trask had started to finalize the development of Sentinels. His sentinels were put to the test in 1973 when a newly freed Magneto targeted the US government in fear that history was repeating itself. Luckily, due to the interference of the newly re-formed X-men, he was prevented from making the situation worse and Trask's sentinel program was shut down.
That was the extent of the happy ending, though. Due to the events, Stryker was able to attain James Howlett and forcible put him through the Weapon Program. Howlett became the most successful agent as was dubbed Weapon X. The Crisis also sparked another round of countries continuing the super power arms race. Hank Pym started playing with what he called the Pym Particle. Meanwhile Howard Stark and Anton Vanko, under US military funding, created the Arch Reactor. The Soviet Union had started a new program in addition to their Winter Soldiers called Blackwidow; instead of injecting soldiers with the serum they created, they injected little girls and trained them to be deadly spies and assassins.
These were the sort of things that S.H.I.E.L.D was formed to guard against but as Hydra had been pulling the strings behind the shadows, these programs were left to flourish. This also explained how, in 1988, Dr. Reinhard was liberated from prison and allowed to continue his previous experiments. With the help of Hydra, Reinhard was able to track down Jiaying and continued his experiments on her - effectively restoring his own youth. He wasn't the only ghost World War II that reemerged around this time. S.H.I.E.L.D had actually found the Tesseract and, along with a scientist by the name of Lawson (Mar Vel in disguise) was trying to create an engine so powerful that it could sustain itself indefinitely. She had an ulterior motive and that was to take a group of Skrull that were sick of the war to a planet that they could make their home, free of the Kree. Unfortunately her experiments were put to a stop by the Kree. And in doing so they destroyed the warp core, infusing a pilot by the name of Carol Danvers with celestial energy to create the being that would later be known as Captain Marvel.
tab tab tab tab tab tab π π π tab πΎ π π π π π tab πΈ π π ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββThe fall of the Soviet Union in the 1990's marked the start of the golden age of heroes. The Winter Soldier program had been seemingly shut down. As had the Blackwidow program - which allowed one of them by the name of Natalia Romanov to join S.H.I.E.L.D. As she entered into the program, Hank Pym was pulling out. He had discovered that S.H.I.E.L.D had been trying to replicate his technology even after he had exposed all of the dangers it represented. As S.H.I.E.L.D went back and forth over what to do with scientists leaving their ranks, Carol Danvers returned to Earth as she chased the Skrull there. Along with her came a small battalion of Kree. The situation was handled by her and two brave S.H.I.E.L.D agents - Fury and Coulson.
As these events unfolded the X-men, underneath Charles Xavier, had made peace with the United States Government. They had even begun to help on missions that no ordinary human could undertake - earning some good will for mutants around the world. The X-men actually became known as heroes. Especially after they partnered with Magneto to stop a bunch of radicals from 'wiping clean' the face of the world with a bunch of nuclear warheads that they had launched into the atmosphere. Needless to say this earned a lot of good will from many different countries and mutants experienced a decade of peace; unlike the last half century.
This era of peace continued despite the fact that there was plenty happening as the millennia turned. Tony Stark had already made a name for himself in the scientific world as the Merchant of Death. His brilliance made him famous but his partying ways made him hard to get alone for a serious discussion. It was because of this that Hansen and Killian had gone to one of his parties in order to talk to him about the Extremist Program - the latest Super Soldier Serum incarnation. Though he hadn't known what he'd been a part of at the time, Tony Stark finished an equation they were working on. And sadly, Killian and Hansen weren't the only busy scientists that were continuing to strive for bettering humanity. In 2005, Bruce Banner (like his father) continued researching Gamma radiation. His research lead him to having to mutate into the Hulk in order to avoid dying.
Four years later, Stark had made such a large name for himself that an Islamic Terrorist Group kidnapped him to forge weapons for them. While captured and injured he had to recreate the Arc Reactor in a miniaturized form. He escaped and continued on to making the first Ironman suit. It wasn't long until Ivan Vanko came along in 2012 to prove that Tony's technology did not make him untouchable. The director of S.H.I.E.L.D actually stepped in to help Tony Stark stay alive as well as recruit him to something called the Avenger's Initiative. Along with turning down the offer, Tony had to find a new solution for the Arc Reactor keeping him alive. He ended up fabricating a new element in order to do that.
Meanwhile in the southwest of the United states, as Tony faced off with Vanko, the Asgardian known as Thor had to learn a lesson in humility. He brought a bunch of problems with him. However, he proved not to be the worst problem the world had to face. In Rio de Janario, Bruce Banner had to face Blonsky who had been made into the Abomination under the direction of General Ross. Thankfully for everyone's sake, Bruce Banner came out on top in that fight.
In 2012 during the wake of Puente Antiguo, Fury holds a Massive S.H.I.E.L.D meeting where he announces an agency-wide re-focusing towards extraterrestrial defenses. At this same time a plane containing Captain America is discovered. After his discovering, Dr. Erik Selvig began work with the Tesseract with project PEGASUS. A year of peace passed before the next big disaster hit in 2013. Loki came with the T'chari in tow. His actions actually have the opposite affect by binding the Avengers together. Together they were able to stop the invasion. This wouldn't be the last invasion of the decade. Not even a year later in 2014, Thor stopped a species from another realm from invading. While this was happen, Coulson (who was previously thought to have died) was undergoing an extremely controversial experiment. He was brought back to life with the TAHITI project - a project that was meant to bring back fallen Avengers. This revival would have unforeseeable consequences as those who took part started to go insane with the need to draw what looked to be alien writing. Which was why the project was supposed to have been shut down but Nick reinstated it just for Coulson.
tab tab tab tab tab tab π π π π π£ π π π₯ πͺ tab π π π tab π₯ π π tab π½ π π π ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββAll of the problems in the past started to pile up very quickly despite the many groups trying to ensure the safety of the World. It was during the snowstorm of events in 2015 that Steve Rogers was reunited with Bucky Barnes and that Hydra was exposed as being part of S.H.I.E.L.D. As S.H.I.E.L.D fell, Coulson and his team had to struggle with the changes while still trying to defend the world. The other issue that they had to deal with was that they finally solved the mystery of the TAHITI project. Not only that but shortly after they discovered the whole concept of In humans as well as a small earth settlement made up of nothing but those with activated Kree DNA. Soon enough a good portion of the continental North America was affected by Terrogenisis in 2016; creating more Inhumans and groups to experiment on them as well as natural born humans.
World leaders met to discuss the problem of the mutants, mutates and inhumans. What they didn't understand was that groups like the Brotherhood, X-men, Hydra, and SHIELD actually helped to reduce the troubles. Without them history could have been much bleaker. All they saw was that people with powers seemed to be abusing them. Magneto also felt the hostility coming from those in power and decided to act upon it in late 2018. He built a machine to trigger dormant X-genes in individuals and he planned to use it on the world conference. Due to the X-men's interventions he failed. What didn't fail was a group of scientists' attempt to delve into another dimension, at least not entirely. They succeeded and in doing so, five people turned into Mutates because of the energy. After dealing with one of their own the remaining explorers took on the title of the Fantastic Four.
It was perhaps situations like these that fueled Tony Stark's anxiety. As the X-men took care of Magneto, Stark was battling with his own inner demons. Eventually his inner demons took the form of Ultron in early 2019 and the entire Avengers assembly was required to bring him down. In this skirmish a new entity named Vision was born.
Emboldened by the increasing anxiety in the United States, Stryker finally attacked the X-mansion in 2020. He kidnapped multiple students as he tried to figure out a way to 'cure' the world of mutation. In the end he figured that he could use Xavier's mind to wipe out anyone with superhuman powers - mutant, mutate, and inhuman alike. This attempt to wipe out many people all at once was thwarted with the X-men who had the help of Magneto. Unfortunately the damage was done as people realized how effective mutant powers could be. During this time of realization, Scott Lang took over the mantle of Antman.
Barely months after the events at Sokavia and Alcalide lake, the United States tried to pass a long requiring all superhumans to register. This caused a division in the Avengers which lead to them fighting one another. They recruited many other people to help them but in the end no one was the winner. Not only did it cause strife with the Avengers but the Registration act that would be imposed by the Sokavian accords caused the Brotherhood to rise up once more. Time and time again the Brotherhood struck back against the areas the government set up for registration. Even the X-men and other superhero groups couldn't deter them. It wasn't just Magneto that was outraged with what had been planned. Many mutants and mutates took up arms against the government that wanted to register and regulate their daily lives.
What people didn't know was that a research organization had finally found a way to suppress the mutant gene. The only issue was that it didn't seem to affect mutants that had already expressed their X-gene the same way as it did those who had yet to gain their powers. For those who had activated their X-gene the most it did was weaken it; if they were able give low doses to children who were not yet born, or those who did not yet express the X-gene at the time they'd started the regiment, they had a 65% chance of the x-gene remaining dormant. And for those that were expressed they were much weaker than those that were born before them. For those who had already expressed their X-gene it lowered the chance of the x-gene being passed on as well as lowered the power of the abilities compared to those who were not on the regiment. With all of this data the unnamed team decided to put this into the public water supply all over the world. And eventually the chemical compounds got into almost all water supplies - including in the arctic and the atmosphere.
Then there was a week at the end of September without attacks in 2022. It was almost like the world held it's breath. During this week, key figures from all over the world went missing. Captain America was gone, Tony Stark had vanished...all of the noted figures of the Avengers disappeared without a trace. Not only them but the Fantastic Four and the X-men as well as head figures from the Brotherhood had also disappeared. After the week searches for the missing heroes began. Every investigation lead to a dead end. No one could find a trace of them. Shortly after they were declared missing, superpower crime shot through the roof. Without those groups to keep them in check, the people with nefarious intentions had their time to shine. It was a year of blood and pain as agencies tried to keep up with the influx of crime.
New and old groups came back. One such group was the Weapon program that trained soldiers how to deal with mutants. Another was Trask industries which re-branded itself to create the Sentinel Service. They are like the FBI in jurisdiction except that a lot of their work falls under the Patriot act laid down after 9/11 as well as the Sokavian accords. What that means is that the moment anyone exhibiting superhuman powers damages public property, they are charged with a felony. If they hurt anyone in doing so it's an almost guaranteed life sentence.
What the world didn't realize was that the week the heroes went missing, it was the last week that any new mutant had been born. In other words the last mutant would have been born September 30th, 2022. It also means that for fifteen years the world has not seen the heroes of the Golden Age. For fifteen years the drugs have piled up in peoples' systems; creating mutants with lesser powers instead of the renown mutants of the Golden Age. No new Mutates have been created since then. No new Inhumans have undergone terragenesis. The world still has trouble dealing with the ones that are alive today...but what they don't yet realize is that superhumans were a line of defense that they took for granted. Now that the line of defense has been weakened there's no telling what can happen.
And now the year is 2037 2038.

That does not mean that I will expect monster sized posts out of everyone - though that may happen from time to time. I do ask that you give a minimum of twelve complete sentences per post. I also ask that you have three basic things in them aside from your writing - a picture of your character, their name, and a general location.
I will not be stringent on how often you need to post. In fact, I will be more than happy with one post a week. What I like to see more is loyalty. Stick with us and we'll stick by you...that's the mentality I like. Of course, you may get poked every once in a while for a post if you haven't but I understand that life isn't always at your leisure.

It is important that it's used as this will be the place where notices and updates will be placed. You do not need to participate in the voice options if you are not comfortable with that.

You will be permitted to play multiple characters when you can prove that they can handle the amount. You are allowed to have canon characters as long as they would make sense with this universe. Please keep in mind that most cannon characters have powers which would need to be scaled down to fit this setting.
As for powers, all OCs are allowed to have one power. There will not be secondary powers as of now. If you have a very broad power like Telekinesis or something like that, have them with more narrowed down techniques. For every technique or ability you should try to have one weakness or flaw. To prevent overlap of abilities, please review powers already taken prior to applying.
We're using real images as face claims. Pick one that you think represents your character. Make sure that it hasn't already been used by another character (unless that's a plot point). You can check the faces here.
