Kala set out in the little boat he had fashioned for himself, it was a bit..round, so it moved slowly through the water as he paddled but he could get out to the outter reef areas a bit easier this way without having to swim the whole thing. He liked to wander off by himself, his family was always busy, the girls tended to like to hang out together and then there was him. He could take or leave the family time, depending on if he had gotten enough family time in the week preceeding. He knew he confused them, but well, he was a guy and there were just like a lot of girls in his family. His Dads were quite busy providing and caring for their brood so they didn't have all that much spare time, thus he went out by himself occassionaly and to his mind they were all good adventures. Some more dramatic than others though. This time seemed to be going rather well, with only a few uninterested snaptrotters cruising by him, he waved the paddle at any who got a bit too curious. Some of them were small, thus not really a problem, what he had to watch out for were the bigger territorial bulls. They could be an acutal problem if they got their mouth on his boat, one shake and he would be in the drink weather he wanted to be or not. But they were beautiful and he was pretty sure that one day he would catch and tame one for himself, but he would start at a reasonable size not the big bruisers that cruised the main reefs for food. They were best left to actual professionals and even then with extreme caution. He took a deep breath and just took in his beautiful surroundings. He liked to take time out of his day to just appreciate nature and life and all of the good things in the world. His world was bright and sunny with sandy beaches and tropical trees, but from the descriptions of his parents not everywhere in tendaji looked like this. He wasn't sure he wanted to go to some of the places that reportedly had quite vicious weather, he thought that a proper storm rolling off the sea was exciting enough thank you very much. The wind was fresh and full of the scent of flowers in bloom. It was truly spectacular and all he had ever really known. Maybe he should have brought a sibling with him. Company wasn't always bad after all. Someone to talk to would be nice on occasion. But not today! Today was all for thought and adventure, exploration and introspection. What did he want to do with his life? He was inexplicably getting a bit older all the time. Unfortunately that meant he had to both chance and learn, adapt or die. Time slipped by on the wind and he would not be left by the wayside to wonder what had happened to his life. 506

It was well past time for him to get out and adventure further than just down the beach. He was meant for bigger and better things to be doing than be collecting shells from his own beach. Though that was fun. There must be so much treasure out there just waiting for him to find it! Wouldn't it be grand to pirate some pirates and get some real good loot. More loot less guilt! It sounded like a fair deal to him. Rule the high seas from the tossing deck of a deadly , fast ship. It was a most romantic notion. One couldn't blame him tough, he was surrounded by girls besides his Father, and his sister's mate Aki. He would be forgiven his boyish thoughts. He feet took him slightly inland for a change. The clouds overhead gathered closely with dark faces, frowning down at him, warning him that a good and thorough soaking was more than imminant. He dove into the bowl of a large tree when the first drops were about to hit. He lined the inside with the dryish moss like his sister had taught him to do and he was relatively comfy as the pounding of the rain outside his log intensified. Thunder rolled over head and he held his clothing close as it actually had gotten quite chilly. He dragged out his woolen blanket and wrapped it cozily around himself, sighing in relief as the heat actually stayed close to his body for a change. His Dad had been right about bringing a blanket everywhere, even in sunny Matori. It certainly wasn't sunny right now. That was for sure. The sky was opening up and it was a steady loud insistant downpour that pounded the palm forest floor. Good show that water did not pour into his hidey hole in the giant tree. He now had all the time in the world to think and he did. He thought about what his sisters and other family members would be doing right now. Usually when it rained like this his parents would make the whole house fowl noodle soup in order to stave off any enterprising cold or flu intent on their somewhat outdoorsy children. They were pretty smart and this wasn't their first brood of kids so they knew some tricks. Nothing prepared you for triplets though. It could be pure chaos in the house with so many young and exuberant voices. Someone was always getting into something, like he had just gotten himself into, the only difference was that he was having fun, besides he had packed snacks for just such an occassion. He cracked into his bag and pulled out some dried apple, a small block of cheese and a few pieces of wax wrapped bread, still fresh from the oven at home. It was surprising how fresh it was really. He made himself a feast right there in the bowl of the tree and it was that night that he lost his heart and soul to the wild places, to the rainsong and to the very primordial spirit of the mother land herself. Though he did miss the fowl noodle soup. Perhaps he would have to learn to do that on the campfire on a not so rainy night. Thunder peeled out right overhead and his heart couldn't help but beat louder in response to a basic fear of loud angry noises. If anything the storm was getting fiercer and part of him was wide awake. However part of him had just fed well and was lulled by the low pressure system breaking overhead. He fell asleep content and safe in the hollow bole of the huge tree. It felt like he was reborn when he awoke. That had been the best camp night. It was still raining but as his parents hadn't come stomping out he knew they knew he was safe. Nothing would prevent those two from finding any of their kids whenever they so chose. No matter how hard he hid, they always found him. But this time I think they understood that he was testing his wings. A little young, and a little knuckleheaded which was why he was staying within the boundary of their large property. He knew that a nearby family had lost a youngling to a kidnapping, it was a family that his parent's were familar with but as of yet he had not met any of them. Which was apparently becoming more and more dificult as this family was expanding at a rather swift and alarming rate added to the constant adopting of people outside of their bloodline, no doubt his Father's said that they would have their own town soon enough with the alarming rate of expansion. They still had a ways to go but from what he heard it wasn't all that far off. He didn't also want to get kidnapped so he was playing it cautious as his parents expected of him. No doubt a scout had seen him all snug as a bug and went, head shaking back in the house. Either that or they had forgotten about him between all of the girl drama. They wouldn't for long though, it was usually when he was quiet that he was up to the biggest nonsense. The pure pleasure of being the only son in a large family full to bursting with all of the girls. Course they all had different personalities and for the most part they meshed well but as in every family there were arguments and fierce sometimes savage competition depending on the young adolescent mood swings that came with growing up. It was almost never quiet unless most of the house was outside. Not like here, with just the rain to sooth him, it was a peaceful lullaby and as he was extremely comfortable still he yawned and rolled over and promptly went back to bed. His quiet snores where punctuated by the ever present raindrops and thunder rolled across the sky.

There was one path that he had read about that seemed to capture his heart. It was a type of summoner that could eventually summon a tentacle to do their bidding. There had been quite a few scary looking runes to accompany the practice but all he needed to do was memorize it, easy enough. He was attracted to the feel of the magic, deep, neither good nor bad, just like the sea, though sailors might have something else to say on the matter. This was quite a feared class for them. Some ships considered anyone with this chosen career to be bad luck and they absolutely refuse to let anyone with such capabilities on board. If you were allowed on no one dared anger you for fear of swift and brutal retribution. He of course would only use his power when he needed. There were quite a few pirates in these waters. Perhaps once he was trained, he would take more of an avid interest in their antics. It would be good practice and do the community good. He was sure he would need to find a teacher but that shouldn't be too hard in coastal places. It would be easier to utilize that sort of magic if you were by the sea already. He would start with that but for now he felt secure with the choice he had finally made. He would never be defenseless at sea. He loved it too much to leave it for too long anyway. The ea mystified and thrilled him. It called him constantly to come see to come feel it. Just take a dip in it, its excellence. There was just as much wildlife diversity below the waves as above them, and he enjoyed being underwater long term. There were some really beautiful places that it took a lot of swimming to get to most of which his family had shown him over the years, be it his sister Akea, the oldest or his parents, Keiko and Ikaika, who had managed to blend two cultures quite neatly and raise a huge family of their own. He loved them all. Each had their own fantastic talents and passions. He was excited to find out what their others were and what they had chosen to do. They all had such colorful personalities. He was happy that he was a part of His family. Though he was starting to feel the need to wander away from his home waters to explore to adventure. It might be a bit hard on him and his family but he felt quite limited on his growth if he continued to stay close to home. He had to go out and discover himself only then do you think he could properly grow as a person he couldn't keep getting distracted, and home was plenty distracting with how much family it had in it. Perhaps one day he would find a friend to adventure with but for the first little bit he wanted to go at it solo. It would be lonely but it might also be peaceful if he was lucky on the trail. Anything could happen but it seldom did and much regular travel was at best boring if sometimes quite pretty, at least. In any case. He wasn't ready to get lost but he was brushing up on his self sufficiency skills that their parents had tried to instill on them from a very get go.
Of course he understood why they had been doing that now. Otherwise littleness things might needlessly struggle and as good parents they were doing their best to better their children's situation from what theirs had been. Neither of them had had the best childhoods but neither had let it hold them back from their dreams and gods and after kids and a happy life later, he thought they had managed that. Now he wanted to find happy life for himself. But first he had to learn what he wanted. There were just so many options out there. He didn't know that he wanted to travel though. There was way too much out there for him to see cold places, warm places, place of trees as far as the eye can see. He didn't much care where he figured he would just simply pick a direction one day and go when he wanted to change locations. His parents were after all, had come all the way to Matori and promptly after cursory initial inspection they had settled there promptly. He could see why he would be back one day to Matori was his home that could change but he didn't currently think it would. Though it might be gone for a year he would come back and visit so his family wouldn't send out a hunting party for his vagrant self. They would too and they might rouse a whole village to help. He shook his head at the thought that would be really embarrassing in his estimation. The whole village out looking for a story young carcass he would probably be eating at an inn when Akea or Kaiko found him most likely half full of food to he would never live that down if it happened his forehead. Your thought gave him a headache. He didn't like awkward attention in crowds all he didn't mind attention if it was on purpose, though, so long as he was able to prepare the magic path he had selected just seemed to fit him. That was that plus summoner sounded really cool. The key it could do magic he wanted to as well. It was interesting coming from two mobile parents though. Geico was capable of small minor things not enough to say he was magically inclined in any way. Their kid sure seemed full of it so far. Magic was just so cool, though had come with its own rules its own currency. One got better with practice so he had heard from the other magic wielders. It was far beyond him at the moment but he was excited to learn more about it. He walked into the sea and dipped a hand in concentrating with all of his might a fish may have come closer but it could also have just been that hit. It thought it had food was awfully friendly or who knew that type of thing would come with time. He decided to stop worrying about the future now that he had a goal to pursue he needn't worry too hard if he just kept doggedly going after his goal. And when he achieved that he would make himself another goal. Making time of course for friends and fun. Life was too short to be serious all the time. The water felt very good holding him up and refreshing him at the same time. i Yes, he had been foolish and had started to feel irritatingly dry. He felt like life was being poured swiftly back into him though through every pore. The best feeling ever he would who was back in his element like the rest of his family who preferred saltwater or at least no one had complained about it. And he knew of he rolled over and lounged in the water blowing Bubbles, bubbles contentedly an old game but a good one. He paddled around looking at the intriguing water scenery, colorful fish and corals, sea urchins and skates. Just going happily about their fishing little lives was good to see so much wildlife that was imbalanced in the place where everything fought to be he would do his best to find balance within his life to help support his future magic studies was just so very good. He would be a mage and do whatever it was that mages of his style did he thought if he was going to spend any time at sea that it would be a great and handy skill. Why fight your own battles
. When a monster could do it for you preferably other wordly squid like octopus type of animal, he couldn't yet find all that much information on those creatures yet, but there were always other libraries to check even if it was a bit more difficult to get to the further away ones. He would put a lot of effort into it and gain knowledge. Then he would put the practice in. It was that simple. One just had to work for it. He was going to enjoy his life he would make sure that you only get one and it was he was really going to live his Keller let nature suit suit with him. He let the waves gently lap away at all of his cares and worries. This usually worked quite well whenever he had a lot on his mind. On land he was fair game but in the middle of water he belonged. Kala lay on his back and watch the sky fat clouds floating on by drifting gently in the wind. That was how he wanted to drift. He wanted to be free and float alone. Ever he needed to be low he could go inland If he had wanted to. He was always wondering what was around the next point, the next Peninsula the next beach. All were a chance to discover something else cool. He liked the uncommon and unusual perhaps he should have been a treasure hunter. His older sister sort of did it on the side perhaps he would join her one day on a quest for some cool item or another. Perhaps an ancient chalice or intricate bowl used in whatever ceremony the golden gems was also always good. New Capital to help find more exhibitions found more expert the expeditions he thought that would be a good idea he would have to pitch it to her later she was mom now hard to believe it that might make her less eager to treasure hunt with him for a bit. 1674

Kala walked along beaches that bordered his family's land on the Matori coast. They were a little ways away from the beast ranch and the small village that supported with its trade. It was a large facility. They were friends of his parents, Kala had never had too much to do with them. He had been off adventuring and other lands are busy being a homebody. There was a well to do bookstore the market a very small and cozy and run by an elderly Matorian couple. It was a pretty neat place and he wanted to explore it properly. He bought a night at the end. His room was a bit small but comfortable. There were only four rooms total available. gala had gotten the beach themed room complete with an actual metal anchor which hung. He hung his clothes on and seashell decor with ocean themed art blue walls complete with white trim. The word that came to mind was Marina. It was cute. uncomfortable, not bad. He looked at the handwritten paper menu, good penmanship and food descriptions.
The stew and bread certainly looked tempting, he would probably order that for dinner. He heard the comforting bark of the ends guard radically that helped protect them at night. He would save any bones he got for the beast. The thought made him smile. He liked animals, perhaps you would get one one of these days. It was important at times like this to take time for yourself. Ever the slave to his stomach he ventured out with the image of cured meat in his mind. His stomach had rumbled in agreement. He smoked and very good humor. Of course he was usually in good humor. That always been a bit of an adventure and a bit of a joy in his personality. If you were born with such a calm and sunny, endearing outlook on life, he hoped it would serve him better than those with the personality of a citrus. This was not his first or his last adventure. He had always carried the travel bug and it was only getting worse the older he got but first he wanted to honor this beautiful place so close to his home. He scribbled away about it, and how it made him feel for his travel diary. Perhaps he would write a review for this small local paper. Now that would be a fun project.
He liked the pure creative freedom he had brought with him a book reading was so much fun and so good for the mind. He definitely enjoyed it as a pastime though even if he tried to read a little book his dad had found for him he couldn't seem to get into it, or be able to sit still for long enough to absorb more than a page before he gave up entirely. This was just so much stuff to do in a small village that he was simply too excited to sit there and read. There was plenty of candle light for that later onward. He would go and suss out the best village secrets. He was sure there'd be a few good secrets to the bookstore he knew about already he would go in there with fresh eyes. That should serve new the same effect. The door chimed as he walked into the bookstore, maybe he would find out about a new book to read. That could be the problem. New reading material was always a good thing for reading motivation. He settled in roving shelves and enjoying himself. There was something so magical and calming about bookstores. He wasn't the only one who thought so the store did brisk business with the Matorian coastal and towns people. What was paradise without books after all, he was quite enjoying his explorations. He had found a solid prospect and took the hard covered leather book over to the counter where the nice lightning lady rang him through. He paid for his prize and wondered about in search of food.
Of course, again, he was still growing. He wanted to catch up to his dads and he had a lot of growing to do. They were both so very tall. He hoped he got to be that tall. In fact, the tallest he was, after all, the only male seeming, it made sense at least to him. He took a stroll about the town. If this point he honestly just followed his nose to where the best food was served. It turned out to be a street vendor cart with rice and sweet meats that ended up calling to him. The source smelled so good. After the meal came out of the pan, a little extra honey was added. He was all but salivating by the time he found somewhere to sit Oh gods. Oh yum. He stuffed his face and he otherwise enjoyed himself. Today was a good day. It was so good to have a day that just to do what he wanted self care and all that he supposed after food he noticed a sign sort of off to the side a bit that wound up something that was between hill and mountain. It looked like there might be a bathhouse up there could be fun. He was supposed to be relaxing. A day at the spa should be relaxing right? Besides the path looked interesting and windy full of bushes and wildflowers slightly cobbled with pebbles. It looked about as relaxing as the bathhouse would probably be the air smelled of blooming flowers the bathhouse sported the building made with a distinct flared corner roof rose up out of the gardens a comforting vista and fountain with this fish statue burbled happily out front colorful Menk had been brought from Jauhar to give color and character to the network of ponds that threaded through the gardens. The fish could travel between the ponds using the intricately tied tiled canals. It was actually quite a stunning sight steam rose from the heart of the buildings whoever had designed this place had put a lot of their heart and soul into the matter. He grinned and knocked on the darkly painted, intricately carved door it took a bit of time but the door was open to reveal a short woman of such mixed ancestry that he could guess a few of the tribes that contained but not all of them. Hello, welcome to the sod Fox and in Spa the bathhouse up the hill with the best views and complimentary warm water. All of this sounded good to him though he did smirk a bit at the place name. He had known that it also hosted people overnight or may have stayed up there and said, Thank you answered. "One for the best please." he forked over the required coin and he was invited in. There was no one else in the changing rooms he was able to take his time he felt a degree of relaxation already. This place today was magical he would have to come back. He exited the changing room and was given a fluffy blue towel with large green spots. It was thick high quality cotton call him impressed he held on to said towel like a lifeline. He wondered exactly how many kahis have this spot in ever hosted, though they were slowly starting to spread into tin dodgy like his parents had so long ago. He emerged into the bathing area steam rose off of large pools.
They varied in size some were smaller and some were larger. Some were smooth, and some had irregular but smooth edges rounder I gave up he chose one of the longer pools. There were a few families and a few people in pairs are singular like himself. He nods the other gentleman that also occupied his pool. The water as he strode in was warm and comfortable to be in. He slowly lowered the rest of himself into the water. There were convenient ledges underwater at the edge of the pond so that he could perch there as the water got to work on his muscles. He sighed involuntary when the heat hit his shoulders and got him to relax. Now this was relaxation. He leaned back and rested his arms openly on the ledge of the pool. He closed his eyes for a moment and just took it all in. This was a great place and affordable to he would probably pay double what he had to enjoy the perks of the hot spring. Even after all that walking he felt relaxed and rejuvenated he could feel energy pouring into him from the water. Muscles unknotted and warmth and life entered through every pour. This was a place he would most definitely have to come back to. He would have to tell Akea about it too she and Aki could at least come here on a date if they wanted too. 1506

It was the middle of the night a warm wind blew in the window bring with it the heavy perfume of Kaiko's huge night blooming flowers and the quiet sounds of midnight the air still an empty of birdsong. By all accounts, it was a peaceful and serene moment Kala's eyes snapped open. Why had he woken had he perhaps been experiencing a nightmare? Usually that was a lot of woke him at night. But he could have grown no dreams or feelings of an ease. He rolled his eyes and rolled onto his back staring up at the curved, rounded that stealing of his room. He just liked interruptions to his sleep and a house full of females he needed his beauty rest, or they would try to fix the bags under his eyes. He maintained that no one could see through cucumbers and he suspected that they did little to improve the dark mask under his eyes. Pure snake oil he was sure. He said he had been good he had gone to bed on time and hadn't drink too much water prior to going to bed. He had fallen asleep alright, but alas, his eyes were open now for some inexplicable reason. Kala tapped his fingers on his blanket at a bins hands on by his father Ikaika who had been unable to forage for a while due to great storms one season. Ikaika had gotten him to pick the fabric for the blanket. Each of them had one now all were well loved by their specific family member. There were even some for Aki and their kids. He rubbed the soft fabric it was as ever a tactile pleasure, but not even the special blankie sleeping magic was working on him now, nor did rubbing his feet together, or sticking one out from under the blanket, sleeping upside down on the bed or counting aldabuck.
Nothing was making him drift off at the moment. There was nothing more frustrating than insomnia. Oh, well, it was nothing for it, but to just try and get up now. He would find something to do until his mind settle down enough for him to sleep. He was careful not to wake the others. He thought to himself that it wouldn't be long now until he moved out. He loved this place. But there were just so many people in it. He needed out to start fresh, build his own place and discover what the rest of the world had to offer a young ambitious male nightclub the world and he exited out the door and headed down the well beaten path to the beach around the garden and pass the scrub brush finally arriving at the beach itself. Here near his true element, he felt better. He sat down on the stand to stare out at the waves raised lazily rolling by the occasional splashes of fish were the only things that broke the gentle silence of the night. N
octurnal crabs scuttled closer to pinch enquiringly the stranger in their midst. All he had to do with wiggle his feet to and frow, and they went about off on their little crabby lives about their little crabby business. The moon was just coming up over the horizon. He wondered which half of him was obsessed with the dark, perhaps both Moakai and Menehune. It was odd that his parents had found each other and fall in love to make their particular mix of both races. Both the Moakai and the Menehune tribes were very set in their ways and traditions, and were the least likely to intermix with others outside their respective races. And yet here he was living proof that their love was true when was still going strong. Their bond like that at the moon and sky was something beautiful and then marble. He got up from his seat on the now cool sand and began to wander the beach looking for shells. They seem to glow in comparison to the dark sand and stood out like little beacons of hope you picked out a particularly fine one and rubbed a smooth interior of the shell where the creature had once been its own being its own at sat shells grew with the shellfish and he had never quite been able to find out how he's supposed it might be like nail or bone.
The concept just seemed weird to him. The Broad Beach spread it's dark involved before him and he kept himself alert for the silver eyeshine of snaptrotter on the beach or in the shallows. Tame critters were one thing but he did not relish running into one of them in the dark. Especially a wild born. He had no source of light and his size would help him but little with those teeth. Kala pocketed the shell and kept moving despite the thrill of mild fear no doubt his parents would have given him heck for this very reason. Despite all of that he found his feet drawn to the water itself. Water was his hope home home he was tied to this place by bloodline, by ancestry, by soul. The sea called him and he waded in until he could rest the flats of his palms on the gently lapping water. Like he was touching a wild beast, only then did the angst he had felt all night in his soul ease. So that had been the answer simply not enough interaction with the water itself the gods would be ashamed of him. He smiled at the thought and part of the water a bit No matter he was connecting with it now. He was teetering on the cusp of the greatest change in his life. The journey to follow would certainly not be easy, but parts of it at least promised to be fun. He had always possessed a wandering spirit and he wondered where that might take him and with who. Too many questions that none of which did he know the answer to he was sure his parents had gone through similar things and more in their time. At times. He forgot how old they really were, old enough to have two sets of kids. They were not extremely advanced in their careers but raising children had been their biggest priority for a long time. He hoped that they were still able to achieve their dreams if they hadn't already.
The ocean seemed to wash his cares away, leaving him calm and refreshed except for eyes that were burning insistently for sleep. He felt heavier on land without the support of the water around him but he still felt better than he had before his midnight stroll. He wondered if his sisters were also occasionally plagued with insomnia or if they consistently had good nights of sound fleet. Thankfully, this didn't happen too often, or he would constantly feel tired and in need of sleep. He slowly and steadily patted his way back to the house. He was one of those people who abhorred short shoes and saw every opportunity to remain connected to the land under his feet. His parents had in fact teased him about shoes before to no avail. He still refused to wear them unless they were going to market where there might actually be glass, someone might have dropped something and it shattered by accident, perhaps or done. There was always the chance of that at market due to the brisk trade and beasts of all kinds. He found himself reluctant to leave this moment as the night air was crisp and inviting the earth under his feet cool and welcoming and his mind blissfully at peace.
This had been the feeling he'd been trying to achieve all night the balance between mind and spirit at peace. No more did he shrink away from his own thoughts about negative things. Now he lived in the moment for the moment and he felt like he had finally learned something from that. Pursue what made you feel right even if others may not understand the ocean as ever was a steed steadfast teacher of her rules. Water took the shape of its container, sure, but it also eroded its surroundings over time step by step to what it wanted. And that was an agent of change. And if the sea was really angry, that change could come quite alarmingly fast. That was what he would do with his life slowly over time, he would shape it to his liking, even when big change was not possible immediately. Small change when added together would make even bigger changes. It was time to let go of the past let go of who he had been to make way for the bigger better saltier, happier version of himself. Tonight he had planted the seed what might his myriad of thoughts and dreams bloom into tomorrow? Only time could really tell but one thing was for sure his feelings of anxiety and somewhat unexplainable dread had changed into calm and steady feeling of hope that would only grow. He made it back to the house safe and sound. 1539
