Hikawa Shrine is a Japanese Shinto Shrine in Azuba-Juban District, Minato Ward, in Akasaka, Japan. It's design is based on traditional Japanese architecture, most likely from the Feudal Era. The shrine sells merchandises, like amulets and fortunes to visitors. Rei Hino and her grandfather live and work at the shrine.

"Hey... Sailor Mars? This... might seem a bit strange to ask but... would you... mind if I stayed with you... for a bit? I... don't think Star Healer and Maker could really understand how I'm feeling--- I mean I'm sure they do but... they are my siblings... and getting advice from them isn't really the same as getting it from someone else, someone who knows both myself and Usagi."
Sailor Mars had gathered for some time now that things would change. Visions she had seen, didn't always explain in depth who she saw or what was to be expected in the days, weeks and months to come. Only that at some point in time, every day events that was considered normal day by day. That each of them all took for granted would change drastically. Judging by what Seiya just said, she believed that day had come.
She had already told Star Fighter that she could stay with her as long as needed. Her home, the Hikawa Shrine had become a haven. Not just to her grandfather and herself. As well as for her friends and for those who traveled to the shrine who were in need of peace, harmony and tranquility.
At some point, Sailor Mars and Star Fighter had de-transformed into their civilian attire, so that they could blend in with the locals. The walk back to the shrine was quiet. Luckily for them, the rainstorm had not caught up to where they were at. The objects that fell from the sky were cherry blossom petals that rained down around them along the sidewalk.
Breaking the silence that had been shared mutually between the two of them, "Hey Seiya?" Waiting a moment before continuing as they the two of them turned the corner to ascend the steps leading up towards the Hikawa Shrine. "What would you like for dinner? Is there anything in particular that you would like for me to fix?" Rei asked, "I thought that you may want to use the hot springs to relax and unwind from the day. And when you are done, you would have a hot meal waiting for you in the dining room." Smiling sweetly as she turned to face Seiya. She knew that a friendly smile might help, although it would not fix everything.
"Of course you can stay with me." Sailor Mars said, the thought of being alone was a good idea however Star Fighter knew deep she could use the company. "You can stay as long as you need. I won't turn down a friend who needs a haven to rest at." Star Fighter gave her a smile and answered in return. "Thank you, Sailor Mars. I can get my things on the way back to mine... and I'll meet you back at the Shrine later."
Now being past 12pm, Star Fighter was able to get back to her apartment and change back to her civilian self again. Seiya slipped on his guitar case, adjusting the back. He knew he had to practice for the concert otherwise he knew he wouldn't hear the end of it from his other bandmates. Tugging on his suitcase, it rolled out the door and Seiya shut the door behind him, locking up. He wrote a note to Taiki and Yaten which read;
It was a vague message, and Seiya could have texted them but he didn't want to hear from anyone, so a note was a slow way for any sort of communication. Seiya placed all his bag's inside his car and drove to Rei's shrine. As he arrived, Seiya got out and took his luggage case which had wheels, and then his guitar case placing it on his back again. Arriving up the stairs, Rei greeted him, which he smiled and returned a bow before he answered Rei's question.
"Hey Seiya?" "Yes, Rei?" he answered while removing the guitar case from his back. "What would you like for dinner? Is there anything in particular that you would like for me to fix?" Rei asked, "I thought that you may want to use the hot springs to relax and unwind from the day. And when you are done, you would have a hot meal waiting for you in the dining room." Seiya darted his eyes away from Rei for a moment, blushing a little as he answered "I uh... didn't bring any swimsuit stuff... but that's okay. I'll be fine." pausing, he then answered her next question.
"I had something to eat before I came here, I'm not really hungry, I think just with everything happening I have lost my appetite." his royal blue eyes stared at Rei through his shades. "I brought my guitar with me, I still have to practice for the concert... it's not like we have been doing much of that lately. I hope you don't mind some noise and singing... you might even get a sneak preview~"
The idol half-joked, but he was serious when he said they haven't been practicing, Seiya felt bad for his other bandmates but was unknown to him Yaten already was preoccupied pursuingsomeone else too. "Where do you want me to put all this... luggage?" he asked, it looked as if he had packed for a few nights. Before Rei could answer him, Seiya's cell phone went off but had a familiar ringtone to it. "Gomen, Rei." excusing himself as he answered. "Hello?" There was a pause as he was listening to the voice, then Seiya answered back a few times between pauses as he was answering the voice's questions, his tone was different from how he would normally speak. "Yes......I know.....yes........No, they aren't with me right now........I'm not sure......... Alright......... Yes........Yes....... Right.........Five songs, we might be able to do a few more but I'll have to ask Taiki and Yaten.............Yeah I guess......... Alright, got it. Thanks. Bye." *Click.* Seiya hung up, sighing then looked at Rei. "Sorry, that was my manager. Anyways where were we?-- That's right... Haha I feel like I packed almost a whole week! Pretty sure you would get sick of me by then!" Seiya smiled, and his business-like ambiance left almost straight away from his phone call. Feeling like he had lots on his mind, he showed no signs of anything that bothered him currently, giving Rei a heart-felt smile after his comment.

A hard, downpour of white rain was falling outside as Rei emerged from the meditation dojo looking upwards at the sky. Lightning flashed from above, as the lights hidden behind the clouds forked across the sky. There were a few bright flashes that she watched intensely from the shelter of the shrine. Brilliant flashes of light flickered between opaque images in her mind. Causing Rei to revisit the recent battlefield of that new senshi calling upon the power of thunder and lightning. The moment the bolt of lightning snaked its way down to the girl's hand and body. All Rei could see was Makoto Kino, standing in the exact place of the new senshi.
The last time she had seen Makoto as Sailor Jupiter was when they battled last. Which felt like a lifetime ago. Recalling Sailor Jupiter's chant, 'Jupiter my guardian planet, bring forth the storm, summon the clouds and bring down the thunder! SUPREME THUNDER!!'
Another clap of thunder rumbled across the courtyard as a flash of light blinded Rei where she stood under the protection of the covered walkway. The static feeling that hung in the air, foretold that Sailor Jupiter was there. Causing Rei to call out to her, "MAKOTO!!" But her voice was silenced by the loud roaring thunder from above and all around. In that flash of blinding light, she saw a shadow form of Sailor Jupiter staring back at her which caused her to gasp in surprise. A flood of memories washed over her in an instant, merging the image of Makoto with the new Sailor Senshi Nova. Rei's breath was hanging on by a fleeting, quickened moment, as the images flashed away as if she had been all along in a dream state....but wide awake and alert to her surroundings.
The coldness of the wind mixed in with the rain, caused Rei to shiver as she backed away from the under hang of the roof line. Not realizing she had been gripping onto her transformation wand intensely feeling the warmth radiate within her grasp. What just happened? Why am I being shown this? Is this premonition of things to come? Or what has already occurred?
The bluntness of the storm was passing over by now. The sound of rain pelting along the surface of the stone walkways, along the surface water of the coy ponds before her were soothing and hypnotic. The Japanese garden before her, appeared to have recovered from the wild storm that had made its appearance. That was.. so strange..
Rei was somewhere else when she noticed movement from not too far off from where she stood. Recognizing the shape of the person who was on approach, the rain was only dropping a few droplets of rain here and there. Lucky for them they had missed the blunt force of the storm. Calling out to the person she recognized, "Hey Seiya?"
"Yes, Rei?" Hearing Seiya response, Rei realized he had brought his guitar case and a wheeled luggage being drawn at his side. "What would you like for dinner? Is there anything in particular that you would like for me to fix? I thought that you may want to use the hot springs to relax and unwind from the day. And when you are done, you would have a hot meal waiting for you in the dining room."
Watching Seiya's reaction of looking away with a slight blush before responding was cute suffice to say. "I uh... didn't bring any swimsuit stuff... but that's okay. I'll be fine." He seemed to fidget, where he stood. "I had something to eat before I came here, I'm not really hungry, I think just with everything happening I have lost my appetite."
"Fair enough, I can understand that." The wind shifted just slightly causing one of the chimes from above to jingle. Rei felt still like an image in a painting staring over at Seiya in silence. Not knowing just how long she stood there frozen to her thoughts, as the sound of the chime appeared to be the only thing heard until she realized how Seiya was looking at her, from behind the tinted shades. It was almost as if she could feel his soul looking inside.
Her mouth parted as if to say something, finding that her words were hushed momentarily as Seiya beat her to the punch by speaking up. "I brought my guitar with me, I still have to practice for the concert... it's not like we have been doing much of that lately. I hope you don't mind some noise and singing... you might even get a sneak preview~"
"I... that's, that's fine Seiya." Realizing she had been staring, she could tell by how he spoke to her he was genuinely being serious and funny at the same time. Perhaps he did so to lighten the mood. It was obvious she was distracted and welcomed Seiya's distraction. "Where do you want me to put all this... luggage?"
"Oh! I will help you with your luggage and show you to your---" Moving towards where Seiya stood, and offer to take up his rolling suitcase. Rei started to say something else, however, she was unable to do so due to Seiya's phone ringing. "Gomen, Rei." Biting her lower lip, she nodded her head. Watching Seiya turn around to take what appeared to be a business call.
"Hello? Yes......I know.....yes........No, they aren't with me right now........I'm not sure......... Alright......... Yes........Yes....... Right.........Five songs, we might be able to do a few more but I'll have to ask Taiki and Yaten.............Yeah I guess......... Alright, got it. Thanks. Bye."
Rei was straightening out the sleeve of her shrine maiden attire, when she heard Seiya's phone click shut. "Sorry, that was my manager. Anyways where were we?-- That's right... Haha I feel like I packed almost a whole week! Pretty sure you would get sick of me by then!"
Smiling sweetly at Seiya, "As I told you earlier, you can stay as long as you need. You won't bother anyone. Definitely not me." Gesturing with her hand about the property, "Grandfather and I have a regimen that we follow day to day. And we have learned to adjust when guests visit and stay for a while. We usually will not interfere with those who stay here. Other than to let our guests know when breakfast, lunch and dinner is served. And if you need anything, to leave a note in the kitchen and I will do everything that I can to please you and your needs." Stated professionally. Even though what was said could be taken other ways, it is however not ever taken in that manner.
"And yes, I know that you have a concert coming up. If you'd like, I would love to join you. Perhaps even help you write some music, sing a few verses and or play on the piano while you strum your strings on your guitar, Seiya." Winking at him as she moved to escort Seiya and his luggage to his room, leading him down a long corridor. Stopping at the door leading to Seiya's room, "Please allow me to escort you to your room. There is fresh linens already on the bed, a set of towels are on the bedside table. Across the hall from where your room is located is the guest bath. Whenever you need a set of new towels or for your bedding to be changed, just let me know."
Standing at the entrance to the guest room, she gestured off down the hallway. "If you continue on down this hallway it will lead you outside, past the coy ponds, to a vacant room. Once inside, you will find the piano off to a corner of the room along with several other instruments. On the opposite side of the room is a meditation area. If I am not found there, I will be somewhere on the grounds or at school during the week." Pausing momentarily, "I am certain that you are quite tired from all that's gone on. Judging by your expression, you probably would like to take a moment to unwind and rest." Rei didn't want to intrude on Seiya's alone time. Knowing that he might be tired, or perhaps he would like to talk for a bit. Or would like to practice some music. She was uncertain as to what Seiya would like to do. She was willing to give him space if he needed it. Gesturing over in the opposite direction. "We passed my room on the way down to where we are now, if you need anything, Seiya."
"You're lucky, you know?" Looking up at him, since Seiya was taller than her. "You just missed the bruntness of passing, powerful storm earlier. It came out of nowhere. Almost as if it were summoned." Realizing how that sounded, she waved it off with a light laugh. "Yea... that probably was not the best choice of words to use. Especially with everything that occurred not too long ago."
Noticing Rei seemed... distracted, her choice of words gave that away. While Rei was talking, Seiya completely blanked out what she was saying to him, not because she was boring him but because she seemed to be on autopilot as she spoke to him, not being in the right headspace. As they got to his room, both his guitar was placed against the nearest wall and the suitcase sat in front of it. "If you continue on down this hallway it will lead you outside, past the coy ponds, to a vacant room. Once inside, you will find the piano off to a corner of the room along with several other instruments. On the opposite side of the room is a meditation area. If I am not found there, I will be somewhere on the grounds or at school during the week. .......I am certain that you are quite tired from all that's gone on. Judging by your expression, you probably would like to take a moment to unwind and rest. ..........We passed my room on the way down to where we are now, if you need anything, Seiya."
Turning to face Rei, he already took note earlier she wasn't her usual happy self. Then her comment struck as weird, Rei's hint was enough Seiya could put two and two together. It was a nice change not thinking about Usagi, but focused on how Rei was feeling too. Knowing her and the other missing senshi are close, Kira's appearance wasn't easily forgotten when it came to Rei, reminding her of one of her best friends - Makoto Kino.
"You just missed the bluntness of passing, powerful storm earlier. It came out of nowhere. Almost as if it were summoned. ....Yea... that probably was not the best choice of words to use. Especially with everything that occurred not too long ago."
Staring at the shrine maiden, Seiya had done enough observing and openly spoke to her. "I drove through that downpour...Rei... you don't need to pretend, not to me. You can talk to me, I'll listen, let it out. That girl... she reminds you of Makoto, doesn't she? I know you and Makoto are close friends, so I think you should try and talk to that girl, maybe you'll get some answers." gently picking up both of Rei's hands and then gave Rei a reassuring smile, he added "I think Yaten is doing his own investigating, maybe you can ask him if he has any leads on that girl. I'll come with you, we can do this together. You're not alone, Rei. We will find Makoto, I promise." Once the idol promised this, he knew he really trulywanted to go through with this, and planned to ask about the new Senshi at the meeting, for Rei's sake he wanted to find this girl too, and talk to her, hoping for an answer that Rei would be happy with. The Shrine Maidens' feelings meant the universe to Seiya. Letting go of one of Rei's hands momentarily, Seiya took out his phone from his pocket again, he wanted to be proactive for Rei's sake, and show he cared too.
"I saw you followed that girl after the battle, Healer. Any update on this mystery Senshi? Did you get a chance to talk to her?"
Hitting send, he put back his phone in his jacket pocket and took back Rei's hand again, giving her a heartfelt smile.
As he was holding both her hands for what seemed like ten seconds, he gave them a light reassuring squeeze before letting them go slowly while changing the subject to a lighter topic. "So... you like singing?" he smiled at her and continued to talk. "I'd love some help, you know maybe you could be my backup sing--" stopping in his tracks, the idol had an idea. "Actually Rei, I think you can help me with the concert, and be part of it. Whaddya say?" Getting closer to Rei, nudging her, trying to get a smile out of the shrine maiden. Seiya was dead serious though and forgot Rei liked singing, Usagi had told the idol previously about Rei and the memories of that conversation came back to him. "...Now that I think about it...I remember ages ago Odango told me you performed for your school, and did other performances around the city. I think if you were serious about this, you should open with me... at the concert. No pressure though... I mean we have five days to learn something together..."
Seiya didn't want Rei to feel like she was obligated, but this was a good opportunity for the two to put all the bad events aside and focus on something together. "Yaten and Taiki will be pissed I'm changing the concert plans last minute... but oh well, I can deal with them later." he thought, shrugging it off as it was a problem for later, planning to spring it on them at the meeting tonight.

"I drove through that downpour...Rei... you don't need to pretend, not to me. You can talk to me, I'll listen, let it out. That girl... she reminds you of Makoto, doesn't she? I know you and Makoto are close friends, so I think you should try and talk to that girl, maybe you'll get some answers."
Blinking a couple of times as she heard Seiya's response. I must have rambled on and sounded like an idiot. No... not an idiot, someone who desperately needs contact with another humanbeing that's not grandfather. Rei's purple eyes looked up towards Seiya then, actually making legit eye contact with him. Was it obvious, that I.. Unable to finish her thoughts when she felt Seiya take up her hands. That voice that had been talking started to to scream like a school girl who had the biggest crush ever in her thoughts. Oh My Gosh!! Oh My Gosh!! Seiya is holding my hands!! Never-gonna-wash-my-hands-ever-again!! Eeeeeeyah-yah-yah!! Usagi is gonna be super jelly when she finds out!! Eeee-hahahahaha!!
Rei didn't dare act that way in front of Seiya. Her mind did all the girlish screaming inside, enough for ANY FAN GIRL!
"I-I'm so worried about Makoto and the others." Feeling the mask she always has on display: strong-willed and bad-a** tough girl was starting to crack. As her feelings started to seep through. Feelings that she always kept bottled up from everyone. "I haven't been able to locate them... let alone sense them for quite sometime. I tried to tell..." Her eyes drifted downwards as her shoulders slumped in her posture. Rei's demeanor shifted somewhat, she looked sad and angry at the same time.
Usagi. . . but I don't think she really listened at the time. Thought I was. . . Rei struggled with her emotions then, she was angry NOT at Seiya. Angry at the fact when she said something was wrong in not being able to locate the others and she was ignored. When all was deemed a lost cause, the Three Lights appeared. Everyone was excited and thrilled that they had returned. What caused the Three Lights to return? Did something happen here to trigger their return? Did something happen to Princess Kakyuu? No one had heard from them since the battle with Galaxia. It's been years, right? Give or take three years had passed and radio silence between the Three Lights and no word from any of them and suddenly they're back? To top that off... Chibiusa made a sudden return and it's more than obvious that something happened in the future. Usually they receive word that Chibiusa's coming for a visit and this time they didn't receive such a message. Not to mention on top of Chibiusa's return, a new and unknown Sailor Senshi arrived and appears to have similar abilities like Makoto.
Did anyone else not think that the events leading up to what happened recently were suspicious? The appearance of a new bad guy and fiends of evil. Was everything connected? Trying to sort events out hurt her head. Rei's hands felt cold to the touch as the unanswered questions roamed around in her thoughts.
The warmness of Seiya's hands holding her own made her lift her gaze to meet up with him. "I think Yaten is doing his own investigating, maybe you can ask him if he has any leads on that girl. I'll come with you, we can do this together. You're not alone, Rei. We will find Makoto, I promise." Rei's expression softened, "Seiya. ." Watching one of Seiya's hands let go of her own to send a text message on his phone. Moments later his hand returned to her own. Feeling a slight blush appear along her cheeks. To actually have someone care about her and her feelings. This .. this was unknown to her. Sure her friends care about her but this was ... this felt... different than usual.
Seiya didn't tease her like Usagi would. Usagi would act all serious and sincere when Rei would share something personal to her best friend. Then in return, to knock off the seriousness, Usagi would slap her back in laughter as if whatever was discussed was a joke. Not that Usagi did that all the time. She just felt like, Usagi didn't really think about real feelings and her playful reactions. Rei was not innocent by any means. And knew that on occasion seemed to be mean back at Usagi in her own version of a playful demeanor. Rei had a love and hate friend relationship with Usagi. This was apparent to everyone. Even with all the jokes, playful silliness and meanness to one another. Usagi and Rei LOVE one another. Just... NOT IN the way she felt just then.
Rei felt as though she was in unknown territory then with Seiya. Unsure really on how to approach him. It was true, she had a school-girl-crush on Seiya like any of the fans out there. But this was different. Rei also knew that she would NEVER cross the line of who Seiya truly loved. Rei wasn't going to be labeled a heart breaker. Not realizing that someone she knew dearly had just taken up that mantle.
"You're not alone, Rei."
"I'm alone more than you realize." Rei's lips parted in surprise that she actually said that out loud and to Seiya of all people. Her eyes widened slightly, as she looked flustered and uncertain with how to address the situation. "I'm sorry... that sounded mean.. I shouldn't have said that. Here you're trying to make me feel better and I'm ..". . . taking up your time. Purposely not finishing the sentence she had started. Seiya must have sensed something as he changed the topic.
"So... you like singing?" A light could be seen in her eyes at the mentioning of singing. Providing a nodding of her head. "Yes, singing is a passion of mine. I sing when I'm..."Alone. When I think no one can hear me. Trying to change how she sounded, as she tried to smile a bit more.
"I feel alive... when I sing. Singing makes me feel lighter than air." Reaching up to catch a tear drop that started to fall. A light laugh escaped as she wiped it away with her fingertips. "Singing... sets me free."
"I'd love some help, you know maybe you could be my backup sing--"
Rei's eyes widened further when she heard Seiya say, maybe she could be his backup singer. He didn't finish what he was saying right away but just the thought of being a backup singer on stage with Seiya just made her heart melt! To be on stage! To have a chance to sing and with someone everyone knew! This sounded so surreal, like a dream! She had to pinch herself and make sure what she was hearing was real!
"Actually Rei, I think you can help me with the concert, and be part of it. Whaddya say?"
Whatever sadness she had creep up to the surface were bottled up again, as the screaming-school-girl-giddiness escaped with a pop!! "REALLY!?!" Cupping her mouth with both of her hands knowing she more than likely squealed her response to Seiya then. Embarrassed somewhat. But more along the lines of bubbly-happiness then!
"...Now that I think about it...I remember ages ago Odango told me you performed for your school, and did other performances around the city. I think if you were serious about this, you should open with me... at the concert. No pressure though... I mean we have five days to learn something together..."
"Oh my gosh! I-I-I... I would love to open with you on the stage! I just . . .wow...WOW!" Pinches herself, yep this is real!"I'm so surprised that I ... I am shocked beyond words and grateful at the same time that you would ask me Seiya. And yes, I have performed at school and about the city.. but nothing like this. I would be honored to sing with you. I am humbled that you would ask me. In five days.. I'm pretty sure that we could put our heads together, and could write something out to sing!" I wonder if Seiya realizes just how thrilled I am at hearing his request?? I feel like I should be running around the room in excitement and yet there is a part of me that is saying, to remain calm and can that excitement.
"I'm alone more than you realize. I'm sorry... that sounded mean.. I shouldn't have said that. Here you're trying to make me feel better and I'm .." Those words cut deep, hearing the pain and sadness in her voice hurt even Seiya to hear this coming from Rei and how she really felt.
Before Seiya moved on to the next topic, he place both hands on her shoulders briefly as he faintly smiled, then slipped his arms around her waist, pulling her into a frontal hug. "Don't be sorry. You're not alone anymore..." he whispered. Knowing this wasn't going to fix the problem, he knew there was an empty void in her heart, but right now, Seiya tried to fill it as much as he could.
The hug lasted for maybe more than it should of, but the worry was displayed across Seiya's face, Rei not being able to see the expression he had while they were in a tight embrace as he thought "I just hope that... I'm good enough... for now..." He wasn’t really paying any attention to how long the hug actually lasted, but he came back to reality, letting go of Rei and taking a step back to look at her.
Continuing on from their conversation, Seiya had asked Rei if she liked singing, and that it set her free, this was exactly the answer Seiya had when someone asked him. Not because he liked singing, but because of the songs he had sung, Seiya always poured his heart into, and emotion that it didn't feel like singing. When he suggested she help out with the concert, it was like a flick of a switch, Rei came to life, and for that, he was happy to see her smiling.
"Oh my gosh! I-I-I... I would love to open with you on the stage! I just . . .wow...WOW! I'm so surprised that I ... I am shocked beyond words and grateful at the same time that you would ask me Seiya. And yes, I have performed at school and in the city.. but nothing like this. I would be honored to sing with you. I am humbled that you would ask me. In five days... I'm pretty sure that we could put our heads together, and could write something out to sing!"
He took a moment of surprise and then started to laugh a little, looking back at Rei he answered "I'm sorry--that reaction was pretty cute, and so worth it, Rei. I'm glad you said yes, we would be honored to have such talent join us on stage. What are you in the mood for? Something slow? Something with a bit of beat to it? A ballad maybe? What do you want, Rei?" putting the spotlight on her, literally speaking.
Pausing, he went to pick up his guitar while waiting for an answer then added "Let's go into the main room." knowing they would be able to sit and talk more openly there, rather than being in his room where she may feel boxed in with him. Using his other hand, he took her hand gently and guided Rei into the living room, where there were cushions to sit down on.
Seiya sat down, and unzipped his guitar case, taking the large instrument and resting it on his lap for a moment before placing his shades on the table in front of him, along with his phone from his pocket and lastly his Star Change. Putting all his attention back to Rei again, his hands moved to hold the guitar and didn't play anything yet as the idol then asked "Do you have any samples or music you have written? Can you show me what you have previously composed?" Knowing how this must of sound, the idol knew he may have asked Rei such a big thing, showing an Idol their own music must be slightly nerve-racking. Rei might even think he could judge her based on that, but Seiya was not like that at all, and he was genuinely asking to get a feel for the person he would be performing with, trying to get inside her head as a way of getting to know Rei on another level, one that not many could understand.

Seiya surely looks serious suddenly. Wondering what he was doing as he moved closer to her and placed his hands on top of her shoulders and smiled faintly at her. Rei fell quiet as she watched Seiya curiously. The moment Seiya slipped his arms around her waist, pulling her into a frontal hug and whispered, "Don't be sorry. You're not alone anymore..."
Rei's expression was one of surprise, as her breath ceased. Purple eyes widened in reaction to being hugged, Rei might have felt stiff when Seiya hugged her. Seiya feels... warm. And this hug... I.... Rei was not accustomed to having someone just hug her out of the blue. It only took a moment until her body relaxed into the hug she was receiving. Focusing in on what he said, how he said it caused tears to form and spill down along her cheeks. Such emotion, could be heard by what Seiya said. There was... hesitation on Rei's behalf before she allowed herself to hug Seiya in return. She just didn't want the person who loves and adores Seiya to walk in and see what they were doing. She did not want to be the one to cause an issue with her best friend.
She was speechless in response to how Seiya helped fill a void that she had shared. Not knowing that he was going to act on that. Not realizing how long they had held one another. Rei chewed lightly along her lower lip, as she slowly withdrew her arms settling them down along her sides only to notice that Seiya did the same almost at the same time. Which caused a quiet smile to emerge.
"I.. thank you Seiya. I didn't realize how much I needed that. You didn't have to do that, nevertheless, I still appreciate what you did for me." Rei appeared better from the hug. Smiling back at him in a grateful manner in return.
"I'm sorry--that reaction was pretty cute, and so worth it, Rei. I'm glad you said yes, we would be honored to have such talent join us on stage. What are you in the mood for? Something slow? Something with a bit of beat to it? A ballad maybe? What do you want, Rei?"
Rei was so caught up in their moment that she had almost forgotten that they were in Seiya's room. Pulling herself down from the clouds to ground herself once more, "What do I want?"
Watching and feeling Seiya's hand lace and entwine in and along her own leading her away from the guest bedroom. "Let's go into the main room." Seiya could lead her to the end of the earth and she'd follow him, without hesitation. To the main room was good enough for the time being. Allowing Seiya to lead, as she followed closely behind. When he released her hand, she almost couldn't hold back the pure-fan-girl-crush-scream-excitement. Rei managed though. Clasping one hand in another before her as thought about what Seiya had asked. "We would be honored to have such talent join us on stage. What are you in the mood for? Something slow? Something with a bit of beat to it? A ballad maybe? What do you want, Rei?" Somewhere in the depths of her thoughts, the sounds of a zipper case being opened along with something solid being placed along the tabletop drew Rei out of her trance.
"Do you have any samples or music you have written? Can you show me what you have previously composed?"
A blank expression was present, before she turned to cast her gaze over at Seiya who awaited a response. "I do have several samples of music written, and I always appreciate someone who likes to critique work done. As well as provide suggestions to improve anything within the composition." Still thinking on his words, she felt like he was asking her what she wanted to do. Not what they could do. Her lips pursed somewhat moving along to her thoughts, "Give me a moment please and I will retrieve the pieces I have made. I would appreciate your feedback, if you don't mind." Rei was so excited that it was hard to keep that part of her wanting to explode in excitement in reigns for the time being. She wasn't gone for long, as she returned with a leather bound folder, that was filled with several musical sheets of music Rei had worked on. Unzipping the folder open she placed it down along the table before them. "You suggested a ballad, Seiya." Lifting her gaze from the music sheets that were laid bare for Seiya's eyes. "Did you have something in mind? Something in the works? Or ... perhaps you and I could compose something together?" Moving to take a seat nearby where Seiya was seated but not wanting to overcrowd him since he did have out his guitar.
Seiya didn't take much notice of how Rei reacted when he hugged her, it wasn't something he would usually go out of his way to do either. From his point of view, Rei needed that hug probably more than she realised, but the idol wanted to make sure she knew he was there for her as actions spoke louder than words in this case.
"I do have several samples of music written, and I always appreciate someone who likes to critique work done. As well as provide suggestions to improve anything within the composition. Give me a moment please and I will retrieve the pieces I have made. I would appreciate your feedback, if you don't mind."
Giving a nod, and a smile in return, Seiya watched Rei exit the room, once she had left the smile on his face disappeared and a worried expression was displayed instead.
"Rei... you’re really putting on a brave face, even for me but I can see right through you. I know this isn't easy... but I promise we'll get your friends back." he thought to himself, gripping the guitar handle tightly, twisting his wrist around it in frustration while his gaze shifted to the Star Change that rested on the small table in front of him then to his mobile cell phone, wondering if Star Healer had seen his text message yet. Hearing her footsteps return, his grip and posture changed to relaxed, and the smile appeared again as she entered the room holding a leather-bound folder. "Welcome back."
"You suggested a ballad, Seiya. Did you have something in mind? Something in the works? Or ... perhaps you and I could compose something together?"
"Well... I've never done a ballad before...but I think we can both come up with something if we put our minds to it, besides it shouldn't be too hard for two singers, right?" Seiya ended his sentence and smiled at Rei. Pausing, the smile faded away. Moving his guitar away from Rei, he leaned forward momentarily taking the sheets of music Rei had written, and leaned back.
"I'll have a quick read over what you have currently, and we can work from there."
The gentle expression changed as he concentrated, he didn't mean for it to be silent in the room, but in his mind, he was reading it as if it was something a teacher would read from a student’s test papers - or so the feeling of what it could feel to Rei at the time. A few minutes had passed by, stiffing up his back he took a moment to gather his thoughts before turning to face Rei. "...You know... I don't understand why you're not already an idol-- besides looking after the Shrine and you're Grandpa... have you thought about maybe looking into that further?" he questioned, and then continued. "There is so much emotion in this... maybe instead of doing a duet with me... you could try doing a solo." Seiya held his serious expression for a few moments before breaking a smile and chuckling. "I'm teasing, I wouldn't throw you in the deep end like that... unless you want me to. But in all seriousness... how about you let me play for you, and you could sing to start with, once I get a feel for your voice I can chime in and try to compliment your voice with mine--- only if that's okay with you though?" Treading carefully, Seiya didn't want to put her on the spot too much, but knew he had to push a little bit as being on stage in a large crowd of people and being here with him were two different things. At the same time, he was testing her to see how she would react, out of his own curiosity.

"Welcome back."
Hearing Seiya tell her welcome back, caused Rei to pause momentarily.
"Well... I've never done a ballad before...but I think we can both come up with something if we put our minds to it, besides it shouldn't be too hard for two singers, right?"
"Right, it shouldn't be too hard." She agreed with Seiya's comment. "I'll have a quick read over what you have currently, and we can work from there." Falling quiet, she waited patiently for him to read over her work. Even though she didn't know which piece of music he was reading, Rei was hearing musical notes playing in the background in her mind. That thought process was severed when she noticed Seiya stir in his seated position and turned to face her. "...You know... I don't understand why you're not already an idol-- besides looking after the Shrine and you're Grandpa... have you thought about maybe looking into that further?"
Rei's shoulders tightened slightly not before falling lax. "I have." She looked defeated as she provided an explanation, "I've been told that I am not good enough. That I need more voice lessons. That my style is no style that the industry is looking for. Funny, considering how my classmates think otherwise." Noticing how she sounded, she lifted her tones to a more happy, confident tone. "As you can see, after having record studios tell me that I'm not good enough, I have not quit. I keep writing and singing at local events every opportunity I get."
"There is so much emotion in this... maybe instead of doing a duet with me... you could try doing a solo." Rei blinked a couple of time as she allowed him the floor to speak. Was he serious? Or pulling her leg?"I'm teasing, I wouldn't throw you in the deep end like that... unless you want me to. But in all seriousness... how about you let me play for you, and you could sing to start with, once I get a feel for your voice I can chime in and try to compliment your voice with mine--- only if that's okay with you though?"
Rei stood silent, '.....you could sing to start with, once I get a feel for your voice I can chime in and try to compliment your voice with mine.' Providing a nod of her head acknowledging what Seiya had said. "Fair enough." Realization settled in as Rei figured that was a cue to start singing. "Sing and play.." Said mostly to herself as Rei turned from Seiya as if locked in a trance and moved over towards the piano. Resting her hand down along the smooth surface of the piano rim. Since Seiya had said he needed to get a feel of her voice, she thought about a song that Seiya could feel. The first song could be too slow, for what he's probably accustomed to hearing to start with. A song too slow? Possibly? Maybe? Rei thought to herself, before a memory appeared in her mind as she recalled the concert that the Three Starlights had last as they all sang, Search For Your Love. Just that memory made Rei smile, nodding to herself to provide an invitation that anything is possible. At least the song she had in mind would help provide an understanding as to what her voice could do.
Most of the time, Rei could just sing on a whim. But at this precise moment? She needed to hear a note, to start. Tracing the outline of the piano before turning to take a seat before the keyboard, her fingertips hovered in a feathery touch above the ivory and ebony keys. Closing her eyes, Rei's fingertips began to stroke the keys before her by memory as the piano came to life. Playing just the instrumental portion first before grasping the pace she played in order to start singing. Piano music only - I should have known Once she had set the pace she would be playing and singing, she took a breath and in sync with the piano music Rei began to sing.
"I've been told that I am not good enough. That I need more voice lessons. That my style is no style that the industry is looking for. Funny, considering how my classmates think otherwise. As you can see, after having record studios tell me that I'm not good enough, I have not quit. I keep writing and singing at local events every opportunity I get."
Hearing this statement made Seiya go quiet, reminding him of when he asked that to Usagi. He adverted his eyes away from Rei, replaying that painful moment in his life once more.
Seiya didn't bring up anything just yet, seeing Rei had somewhat recovered from telling her story, to then playing on the piano. Watching her, Seiya narrowed his eyes and thought about speaking his mind when she had finished, being a witness to how good enough she is, even more good enough than she realized. Finally halfway through her singing and playing piano, The idol closed his eyes and just used his guitar softly, not wanting to use it to overpower her voice or the music she played. The song she sang was sad, just like any of the Three Light's music they sang previously, it truly was sad, and hearing pain from her voice hurt Seiya in a way no one else would really be able to understand through music.
When Rei had gently finished singing her last tune, Seiya lifted his fingers of the strings slowly and paused for a moment as he counted in his mind the seconds that went by before speaking, letting the moment fade away as he placed the guitar down to the side of him.
"...Rei..." His voice broke the silence in the room as he opened his eyes.
"You are good enough"
Keeping his gaze on the Shrine Maiden, he continued to speak. "You don't need vocal lessons, you need a better manager, someone who can guide you, someone who can understand you...and lead you in the right direction."
Pushing himself up, Seiya walked over to the side of Rei's seat. "If singing is something you truly want and have always dreamed of doing... I'll be that person that guides you. I'll be your manager." placing his left hand on her shoulder.
Finally breaking a smile "As I said, you're more than good enough to me. I promise you that." he said, placing his right hand on his chest as a promise.
Thinking for a moment, Seiya rethought something he had said prior but spoke out loud instead "Hearing you sing just makes me want to listen to you all day, even though I said it as a joke.. the more I think about it, the more I just want you to sing instead of us and I'll just play the guitar for you." Unsure how Rei would feel about that, Seiya would still be on stage with her, but would rather have her have that spotlight instead of them both. "But that's completely up to you, this is yourmoment after all." Not looking at the time, Seiya was unaware of how long it has actually been, and time seemed to go faster when Seiya was doing anything music related.

When the last note was played and the sound of music faded, Rei's eyelids fluttered shut as she bowed her head and sighed. The silence in the room, made her wonder if she picked the wrong piece to play for Seiya. Chewing softly against her lower lip, it was apparent she said something to herself as she provided a short nodding of her head. Telling herself to sit up more upright, not slouch, to stay strong and sit straight along the piano bench; that was before hearing Seiya take a breath and say her name, breaking the silence that lingered in the air.
"...Rei..."
Rei held her breath, as she re-opened her eyes and turned to face Seiya who was speaking to her then.
"You are good enough"
An emotional waterfall of joy could be seen along the surface of Rei's violet eyes as they became moist. A small quiver could be seen along her lips, as she listened to Seiya.
"You don't need vocal lessons, you need a better manager, someone who can guide you, someone who can understand you...and lead you in the right direction."
Watching him rise from where he had been seated and cross the room to where she sat. "If singing is something you truly want and have always dreamed of doing... I'll be that person that guides you. I'll be your manager."
Tears of joy, dropped heavily down her cheeks as she gazed up at him. Crying softly to herself inside. To hear, to actually hear someone finally say that she was good enough! All the trials she had been through, all of the record studios and people in the music industry telling her that she was not good enough. That she needed more voice lessons. That her style wasn't the music that the industry was interested in. No matter how many times she was turned away, rejected, the support of her friends and family helped her get through it all. She did not allow those who rejected her talents beat her down to where she would quit. Rei kept staying strong, fighting to keep her goal alive, by hoping and praying that one day, someone out there would see that she was worth giving a chance.
The moment Seiya's hand touched her shoulder, Seiya would see the girl who always put up a strong front crumble before him. Rei wasn't a person to show her feelings, especially crying. The tears kept coming, as she reached up to brush and wipe them away.
"As I said, you're more than good enough to me. I promise you that."
Rei wasn't boo-hooing, they were tears of joy, happiness. She cracked a smile as she took a breath that sounded like a hushed form of laughter. So grateful that, Seiya was honest with her.
"Hearing you sing just makes me want to listen to you all day, even though I said it as a joke.. the more I think about it, the more I just want you to sing instead of us and I'll just play the guitar for you."
Running her hand across her features to wash away the flood of tears, Rei appeared to settle down some and regain her over joyed composure.
"But that's completely up to you, this is yourmoment after all."
Cleaning up her face with both of her hands, letting them glide up into her hair that she pulled back into a makeshift, loose ponytail. Rei had heard Seiya and was taking everything to heart. Sitting there quietly, her,.... everything was moving faster than the speed of light in that moment. Not realizing that time had completely moved forwards at a faster pace. The two musicians had been enjoying their time with one another that time just slipped by.
Something glowing at her side caught Rei's eye. The light was pulsing in a slow steady beat. Pulled out of Cloud 9, to become grounded, Rei realized that the pulsing light she saw was radiating from her communicator watch. There was movement on property, other than Seiya and herself. The meeting... Was it that time already?
Shifting her gaze, looking up and over at Seiya, Rei's expression was sweet and adoring. Genuine. Smiling at Seiya as she finally replied, "Thank you, Seiya for listening to me play. And thank you for being honest and supportive, not just as a musician, as a true friend. Everything you said, means the world to me. As much as you are saying it's my moment, Seiya, I would still like to have the pleasure to sing with you on stage. And know that I am honored that you can lead me in the right direction and I am humbled that you will be the person that guides me."
Not trying to change the intimate music topic they were on just then, raising up her wrist as she lightly touched the surface of her communicator. "Not trying to change the subject by any means, but we are about to have guests. And by the look of the dots gathering closer to our location, it appears that everyone is arriving in a timely manner for the meeting, Seiya." Rei would not forget this time she spent with Seiya. Seiya became Rei's rock, someone she could speak to, knowing that he would listen and be there for her. To support her. This wasn't just a one way road. Rei was there for Seiya, through the thick and thin of things in life. She was certain that Seiya was aware of this.
An unmarked car pulled up along the curb of a tourist spot, located at the far end of the Hikawa Shrine. A figure hidden from tinted windows, soon exited the car not long after the vehicle had parked. Once the rideshare fare was paid, the car departed. Leaving the lone, tall female individual, to blend in and mingle among a large crowd of tourists. Dressed in civilian attire, Setsuna Meiou, stood taller than most of the women within the vicinity. It was a nice change to be out of uniform, for a time, something to relish even if that time was limited.
Raising her left arm up to block what rays of light shone through the growing gray clouds, Setsuna had a feeling that at sundown the rain would start once more. Also using that moment, to blend in with her scenery, as she observed those around her. Scouting the horizon with her line of sight, she could already tell that the crowd of people were starting to thin out due to the time of day. Sighing quietly, she moved from her position and began to walk in the general direction of the Hikawa Shrine.
As Setsuna began her ascent up the stone steps leading to the shrine, she had to stop for a moment to stand in awe at the rows of handmade Japanese wind chimes hanging from above on a wooden arbor. It wasn't just a couple but rows of them. Which made her realize it must be around the time of the wind chime festival, to help ring in the New Lunar Year. While listening to the chimes, she realized that this is the Year of the Rabbit. She was certain that Usagi would be pleased knowing that.
The gentle jingling of glass chimes hanging from above, caused Setsuna's mind to drift. The chimes' music soon shifted to the sound of whispers of familiar and unfamiliar voices around her. "I... never thought I would meet another Planetary Senshi." "...thank you! you came to our aid and distracted the youma from the alleyway away from us, but... you risked your life doing that..." "She might have saved you, but we know nothing about her!""How do you know about Princess Pluto and why are you here?""Sailor Neptune, just give her a minute. I'm Sailor Star Fighter. You were incredible back there." "You may have defeated one of my youmas now, but once we get the legendary crystals and talismans, you are finished!" That last, raspy voice pulled Setsuna out of her thoughts abruptly. Gasping somewhat as it took a moment for her to realize just where she was.
Something wet fell down along her face, causing Setsuna to reach up and feel what it was. Moving her hand out before her, she noticed that the surface of her skin was wet from droplets of rain. It was a light rain starting to fall from the sky.
The warm sensation of droplets of rain landing along her face, felt nice. She knew that at some point it would only be a matter of time for the rain to really come down. Taking a breath, straightening her shoulders back, Setsuna ascended the stone steps leading towards the entry of the shrine. Tourists had finally cleared out, due to the presence of the rain on approach. The front door was open, which caused her to pause slightly. Glancing down at her watch, she noticed that she was there much earlier than asked to arrive at. It was better to be early versus late. Once she crossed the threshold barrier, she removed her shoes and stepped into a set of slippers that were being provided. They were a long row of slippers of different colors. Just noticing this, brought a small smile to the surface. Drying off her hair, she moved across the foyer out towards the sound of conversation. "Hello?" Not realizing that her voice would carry.
As she rounded the corner, she came into contact with both Seiya Kou and Rei Hino, "Greetings." Smiling pleasantly towards the two people she was addressing, "It's good to know that I am not the first to arrive." Taking a moment to observe how Seiya and Rei were seated, she could tell that they had been here for quite some time. "Forgive my interruption, I hope I did not intrude on anything of personal importance."

Seiya kept watching her and patted her shoulder a few times out of comfort. Knowing how hard it is to prove yourself to someone, Seiya knew that feeling all too well. "Thank you, Seiya for listening to me play.
"Anytime, I'm here for you." Taking his hand off her shoulder as he noticed his watch also started to blink.
"Not trying to change the subject by any means, but we are about to have guests. And by the look of the dots gathering closer to our location, it appears that everyone is arriving in a timely manner for the meeting, Seiya."
"Oh, you're right. That went fast." Smiling, he turned back around and walked over to his guitar, placing it back in its case and zipping it up, then leaned it against the wall out of the way. Seeing something in the corner of his eye, there was a tall figure who approached the foyer.
"Hello?"
Seiya stood back up and stared at Setsuna, it took him a few seconds to realize who it was until she spoke again. "Greetings. It's good to know that I am not the first to arrive." The alarming expression Seiya had faded away and he returned a smile.
"Forgive my interruption, I hope I did not intrude on anything of personal importance."
"No, you didn't. We were just finishing up for now, right Rei?" flashing Rei a smile before setting his eyes back on Setsuna. "It's been awhile since we last saw you, I didn't recognize you for a few seconds. Did you come alone?" he asked, stepping aside for Setsuna to enter the room they were in. What Seiya really meant to say was 'Where are the others?' referring to the rest of the Outer Senshi, but then again the same could be said about Yaten and Taiki.
"This meeting will be interesting... I wonder if Odango will come..." he thought to himself, feeling a little bit nervous. "...Meiou-san, what have you been up to? What are your thoughts about everything that has happened?" wanting to get an Outer Senshi's perspective, knowing he wouldn't get much of one with Haruka.

Parking outside the Shrine, Haruka pulled on the hand brake and then got out of the car. She looked at the Shrine then at her watch "We are a little early but others have arrived...let's go." she said, looking at Hotaru and then Michiru. Leading herself around to where Michiru got out, Haruka carefully took her arm and linked it around hers as she then began to lead up the stairs.
Seiya had just asked Setsuna about her thoughts with everything going on, and Setsuna was able to give a reply, when multiple footsteps were heard, Haruka opened the slider door to the Shrine and saw Setsuna first, before looking at Seiya giving her usual glare at him before looking at Rei.
"It seems Setsuna bet us this time." she joked, then continued. "I'm glad we aren't the last ones here... I know who would be though." she muttered, but in a joking manner referring to Usagi. Haruka pulled out her phone, only to notice she had a missed call from Mamoru. "Oh? A missed call?" she thought to herself, placing the phone up to her ear to listen to the message.
"I'm sorry, that I missed... missed your phone call. I am certain that you've been told that, Usako and I... Chibiusa... Chibiusa is with me and we are on our way to the Hikawa Shrine. We will be there in less than ten minutes. There's much to be discussed and time is of the essence. See you soon."
His voice at times broke, hearing he was struggling to say some words. The pain in his voice made Haruka feel sad, as she gazed at Seiya who had been watching the expression Haruka made. Lifting the phone off her ear, the racer's eyes shifted to Rei. "Mamoru... and Chibiusa, they're on their way over." This was a brave move to make for the two, and talking about their separation to the group would be the hardest thing to do, but it was better to get it over and done with - by ripping the bandage off.
Looking down, Seiya thought to himself "I didn't think they wanted to come... and I don't know if Odango will even be here. This meeting is going to get really tense..."Looking back at Haruka, she didn't look too happy.
Changing the subject, Haruka folded her arms and began to speak. "So... we just dropped Kira back home, she lives at Makoto's place. We didn't get much of a chance to really talk to her about anything Senshi related. It seemed like she was dodging those questions." "So what did she say?" Seiya questioned, at least the topic wasn't about Usagi or Mamoru that Haruka was able to give him a straight answer rather than a snide remark. Looking back at Seiya, she answered "Kira found out that we performed with the Three Lights, and showed us the album of that, and one of the Three Lights. You could say she is a fan, Hotaru mentioned you specifically to her, and Kira asked what you were like as a person. I didn't bother to give my opinion of you."
"I don't really care what you think, Tenoh." Seiya answered, both of them seemed to glare at each other, creating tension in the room already.
Looking away from Seiya, Haruka put her attention back on Setsuna. "Don't you think it's strange that the same day Kira arrives... there is an increase in youmas. Doesn't that remind you of something?"
