Makeshift barricades of all sorts have been blocking off routes to the most interesting-looking places, and this one is no exception: it has rendered useless the sole passageway through a 7-story high wall wrapped around a tall spire, at the end of a long road dotted with colorless trees. From your current vantage, you can make out a crack in the wall that extends out of view to the left. Quote: This thread is meant for a smaller group of 1-3. To proceed, you must find a way to the other side of the wall, and you may use any abilities at your disposal to do so (with the knowledge that any ability you use will not recharge in future RPs for this event). I will reply within 24 hours, or when 3 characters have joined the thread, whichever comes first.
For your convenience, here is the post header code.

MOOD: Curious and impulsive. ACTION: Approaching the crack, trying to see through itStay together had been the order, in theory. They were good at following orders, but there was also so much to see and explore and understand and maybe assist their own knowledge and maybe help their people all thrive that they just wanted to look around. If this place that was a myth was not actually a myth-- Who knew what could be found? If the Astrayans were half as powerful as the myths claimed, this could be the ticket, as those of Earth would say. That was perhaps how they found themselves standing in front of this barricade, wondering if there was a way around it. What was it obscuring? And why was it being obscured? They made a few curious noises under their breath as they moved towards the visible crack in the wall. Was it deep enough where they could see through it?

MURIKABUSHI Dark Mirror Court, Senshi of Hunger (Basic)MOOD: Tired but inquisitive and cautiously hopeful. ACTION: Meeting another alien? Maybe?? Once upon a time, Reiki’s Ojiisan introduced his young, twin grandsons to Star Trek, and in Reiki’s opinion, this made a huge difference in the course his life had wound up taking. Maybe not quite so much with the magical girl stuff—even if the genre had been more solidified of known to Westerners during production of the original series, The Next Generation, or Deep Space 9, it really didn’t fit so well with the overall vibe of Star Trek—but certainly in other ways.
Other ways that could overlap with the magical girl stuff, apparently. First, there’d been Daphne. After her had come Fang. Now, there seemed to be plenty of other senshi like them running around in this place—whatever this place was—but also different alien people. The one with no starseed, probably, but……far more interesting were the really tall, pastel ones in the light, vaguely purple uniforms. Reiki didn’t know what to make of them, yet. They didn’t seem to be senshi, not with any faction, and that……sure was curious. Now that his initial crankiness about being in this situation at all was dying down, it felt unfair to unilaterally decide they were all stupid for not immediately springing into action.
Doing that had wound up bringing him to Logos, and that……sure had turned out, hadn’t out.
Whoever had put up all the barricades around this place, though—they were pretty stupid, Reiki felt comfortable in deciding. Not that he had a plan for getting over or around them, or even twelve percent of an idea, but unlike Cersei, who could be effectively kept out of Obaasan’s office with a little plastic gate, Reiki did not appreciate these barriers telling him where he could or couldn’t go. Not least when the wall they were blocking seemed to go somewhere interesting.
………The vaguely purple-uniformed alien peering through the barricade’s crack seemed to think so, too. But…now that they were away from the others in their group, and Reiki wasn’t dealing with a tiny, angry woman having a tantrum or a robot with a tambourine, maybe…? Maybe he could go meet this alien operative and learn more about what their deal was?
He approached cautiously, more so he didn’t risk spooking them, and when he got closer, he said, “Hey… Seeing anything interesting on the other side? Or…I don’t know. You can’t magically discern the weakest point of attack on this barricade, can you?”

Erytheia Knight of Cosmos
MOOD: I’m gonna find a way! Or… maybe not… ACTION: Approaching the barricade.Erytheia was determined to find Kurma or a way off this world or some answers… something, anything! What was Astraya, really? A myth? The world they were on currently? A place that had the mysterious ability to call people here from… seemingly wherever? Erytheia wanted answers, but he kept hitting barriers to having even the slightly knowledge of what any of this meant — both figuratively and literally. Now the knight of Cosmos stood in front of a literal wall. He sighed. Once again, he was not alone, but at least this time, there was no party music. “Do you know what’s behind that barricade?”He questioned the two that seemed to be trying to look beyond the wall. ✪

The barricade material is incredibly heavy and sturdy, and highly unlikely to be movable even with the combined strength of the Vanguardian, Dark Mirror Senshi, and Knight present. All of its pieces are placed with the precision of someone who knows what Astraya's latest guests are capable of and has used that knowledge to ensure it can't be broken apart. There is a smeared, red fingerprint at one end of a long piece near the bottom of the barricade, which is reflecting some starlight in a curious manner onto the ground. There is just slightly more than a foot of space between the ground and this bottom piece. Following the crack along the wall leads to a hole a couple feet off the ground, big enough for a raccoon to fit through. It appears to be a dead end at first, but then the shadow covering it leaves, providing a view of the base stones for an elegantly-designed spire. They're studded with a constellation-like motif of dark dots, and above them it's possible to make out the barest edge of some kind of reflective surface.

Erytheia Knight of Cosmos
MOOD: Constellation-like, you say? Well, I am a knight of Cosmos. Star motifs are our thing. ACTION: Looking at the spire through the wall.At first, the two energy signatures blended together making him think there was a Deep Space senshi about. But he was mistaken. As he got a good look at his two new companions, he knew one was a senshi of the Dark Mirror and the other was a member of the Vanguard. While they may have had different motives than the knight of Cosmos had, both factions had been of help to him in the past. Still, he hoped he hadn’t come off as too friendly. He didn’t want to scare anyone off. The over-friendlyness of the robots before had left him feeling strangely on edge. “All I can see is a star-like pattern on what might be part of a spire.” He said, a bit unsure of exactly what he was viewing from such a small crack. “I have a way to get over the wall, but I would only be able to take one person at a time.”✪

MURIKABUSHI Dark Mirror Court, Senshi of Hunger (Basic)MOOD: Still cautiously hopeful about working together? ACTION: Chatting and noticing the smudged fingerprint. Hearing someone else coming, Murikabushi initially tensed up—which wasn’t fair of him, probably? Aside from the robots and the Bargain Bin Coriolanus Snow who’d dragged them all here, pretty much no one seemed enthused about this situation. Getting tense about other people showing up felt rude, especially when, like Amsvartnir and Ida had both said (and like Reiki had tried but apparently failed to say), all of them were in this boat together.
So—deep breaths. Best option, to start with. Not taking care to breathe deeply would just make his brain fall into a panic spiral in some desperate bid to avoid the alleged death staring it in the face. As he looked away from the alien detective, to the newcomer—one of Duckling’s fellow Cosmos Knights, from the look of all that pastel rainbow on their outfit—Murikabushi tried his best to keep his facial expression open, gentle, and polite. Smiling would’ve felt slightly better, but under the circumstances, it also felt too much like lying.
“Haven’t the slightest idea how to get there, I’m afraid,” he said as he stood up a bit straighter (though not to his full height; his neck still didn’t feel great from having to handle the massive height difference between himself and Logos, or himself and the tambourine robot, or from Logos yanking him around by the pretty ribbon collar). “This is the sort of situation where all my immediate ideas just aren’t feasible.… Y’know, like, ‘Set phasers to stun and pull the triggers, because that usually does a clean job when the Enterprise crew needs to get rid of a barricade.’”
Alas, Reiki had no phasers, no way of setting anything to stun, and no devilishly good-looking Vulcans to make him blush like an idiot, forget how to speak coherently, and probably fall down a flight of stairs. All he had instead were fists and feet and pointy elbows that truly didn’t feel like they could win a fight against this barricade, and magic that he couldn’t throw around right now. Aside from its obvious lack of utility in the moment, he didn’t want to unleash what it could do to anyone here. Yeah, he only knew for sure what it would do to Kerberos, and aside from Amsvartnir, Reiki didn’t feel like he knew enough about anyone else here to guess how his magic could affect them. Perfectly sufficient reason not to risk doing that to anyone, especially with tensions running high as it was.
Briefly, he hesitated with what he felt inclined to say.… Briefly, he thought about Logos having her little tantrum and acting like everyone outside the Dark Mirror Court would use some kind of nightmarish, Wizard of Earthsea, True Name magic to curse them and their families into oblivion.… But, on the other hand, “Sailor Murikabushi, Senshi of Hunger” still hadn’t stopped feeling like someone else’s name, someone else’s beautiful ball gown that Reiki couldn’t properly tailor until it fit him (and some of his attempts at trying only served to make the ill-suitedness so much more apparent).
Even if True Name magic were A Thing, he wouldn’t put himself at risk by saying, “Sailor Murikabushi, by the way.… Not sure of our new friend’s name down here, or of what they’ve seen? But…nice to meet both of you, anyway.”
The part of him twisting in some degree of guilt over the tiff with Logos made Reiki itch to offer a more formal, proper introduction.… Something like he would’ve done in Kyoto, with all the nuance, subtlety, and increased capacity for self-expression that Nihongo provided with its vast ocean of pronouns alone.… Before he could start making things Weird, though, a glimmer of something caught his eye, down on the barricade, not very far from the ground. Crouching to get a better look at it, he frowned.
“Not that I disagree with wanting to get over the barricade, or that I’m not willing to trust your idea,” he said, “but smudged, red fingerprints generally mean that splitting up wouldn’t be the best idea that any of us ever had.” Not least when this smudged, red fingerprint reflected the starlight so strangely.… Reiki had no idea what to make of it, but…still. One more thing about this place that just felt…off.

Lysvi Velencian Cadet
MOOD: Happy for help ACTION: Wishing they were mauvian sized--Lysvi found that they were quite suddenly no longer alone. Looked like they weren't the only person that got curious... The dark mirror? Was that it? Got greeted with a wave, the same for the knight -- "Think we were just trying to figure out the what's behind this part, honestly..." A way to get over the wall sounded very appealing. As Lysvi looked, they wanted to know more. And in order to achieve that, they looked down at both of their new companions, slid by them, and made themselves as flat as possible on the ground to try and get a good look through the hole. Damn. There was no way they were getting through that. "I'm Lysvi! Nice to meet you both." That was the standard Earth English friendly greeting between those that were unfamiliar... "I do have a phaser of sorts, I think. My gun is designed fairly similarly to what you humans call phasers." They knit their brows. Was that useful here? "Something is reflecting light beyond there, I just can't tell what. I would love to get a better look, but Muri," nicknames were an earth sign of friendliness, too, "is correct in that separating further seems unwise, considering the blood." Not that it had stopped them from coming over here-- They lifted a hand to wiggle the portion of the wall above the crack, frowning when it had very little give. "I think it may be difficult for me to attempt to break this with my," they paused, "phaser, though I could attempt. I understand that I am of height though, so bringing me over the barricade may be difficult."

Assessing the area again, you make note of the following: There is a hole in the wall too small for a humanoid, but big enough for a raccoon to get through. Some kind of reflective surface is built into the base of the spire. A part of the barricade facing the ground is reflecting light onto the ground. There's just enough space to crawl under it and get a closer look, though it looks like an uncomfortably tight squeeze. Quote: It is possible for one of the characters present to use a faction-specific ability to bypass the barricade. There is also at least one more way in that no one here can access, but I'm open to adding in or swapping out a character with the correct ability. If you wish to attempt Erytheia's alternative approach, you may proceed with that as well.

MURIKABUSHI Dark Mirror Court, Senshi of Hunger (Basic)MOOD: Inquisitive and eager to try something. ACTION: Inspecting the reflective surfaces and trying to explain himself. ……Oh, Lysvi had a phaser, did they? That caught Reiki’s attention even more than hearing them jump right to calling him “Muri,” despite seeming more adept with speaking than Fang. (That was worthy of some interest, but really, his senshi name was kind of a mouthful, and……hey, it was significantly better than his ex’s father constantly trying to call him Rei, as if Reiki—which was already a shortened version of his full personal name—just had far too many syllables, all two of them.)
The phaser, however, was mostly interesting for personal reasons. If Lysvi didn’t think that their phaser could be of much use at the moment, then there wasn’t really any reason to nag them about it. Besides, Reiki didn’t know if there weren’t rules or anything in Lysvi’s culture about not showing off your weapons to people you just met? Better not to risk being accidentally offensive, or acting too familiar without being given permission—especially not when that would also waste time better spent on investigating things, like Lysvi seemed to be doing.
At their mention of reflected light, though, Reiki took another look at the spot where he’d found the smudged fingerprint.… There was something else reflecting light nearby, it seemed. Not the same starlight as the fingerprint, but if Reiki crouched down low enough—“Hey, Cosmos Knight? What is your idea for getting over? Because we might not need to split up after all.”
The notion Reiki had was better explained if he sat up a bit, though, so he could look at Lysvi and the Cosmos Knight more properly. “Senshi in my Court have this ability, Mirrorwalking? It’s…I mean, it does exactly what it says on the tin, y’know? We walk. Through mirrors. And come out through different mirrors. Mind you, I’ve never tried it outside of Destiny City before? But if I can get a look at whatever Lysvi saw that was reflecting light on the other side of the barricade? There’s a reflective surface down here too, and I should be able to walk from here to there. So, you two could then go over with the two-person-only method, and we could reconvene on the other side without really splitting up.”

Lysvi Velencian Cadet
MOOD: Intrigued ACTION: Eager to see what Muri's trying! Why was the dark mirror senshi taking such a close look at what they had seen? Did he figure out a way to get over there? They had hoped so; their curiosity was spiking more and more the longer this took! At this point, Lysvi just wanted to know what guy had to get protected so badly that someone actually bled out on the ground for it... Or maybe somebody had already snuck back there, that could also be why there was blood on the ground, especially in front of this Mauvian-sized hole here... They glanced up to the dark mirror in interest when he suggested they didn't have to separate at all. They guessed it made sense that people of the dark mirror could just go through mirrors. They did not expect it, but it was exactly what it said: "on the tin." Wait, did that mean the Negaverse was just fully after named after that space? Was every Chaos faction just named after their spaces? They guessed they were only two, it wasn't like there were more that Lysvi could locate to test the hypothesis... "Huh, I'd like to watch you do that, that sounds really cool! Cosmos Knight, will you be able to get me over there? I think according to Earthan American height systems I am six-foot-eight, so I understand if I am a little bit tall for you. For Velencians, I am a fairly normal height, but I understand that six-foot-eight is very tall for a human." They came to their feet and brushed themselves off. "If you are capable, I am ready."

Erytheia Knight of Cosmos
MOOD: Happy to be of assistance. ACTION: Ready for the plan.“I have a way over the wall.”But what did he mean by ‘over’? He certainly couldn’t climb it or even jump that high even with his increased abilities to do so as a knight. Erytheia held on to the golden bird cage on his hip. It was separate from the bow in his hand so it must have been something different than his own weapon or Lysvi’s. A bit of golden magic streams flowed from his hand to the vessel… … and a rather large crane-like bird appeared next to him. “This is P’rue — our way over the wall.”The birds with the cream-colored feathers and the starlit eyes cooed at the mention of her name. “And I’m Erytheia.”So, the senshi could Mirrorwalk. He had only ever heard of the ability — never actually seen it before. It sounded like the perfect way to get to the other side, much more efficient than flying over it on his summon. “If you can Mirrorwalk, I can handle getting myself over.”He turned to the Velencian and then to P’rue. “Your height shouldn’t be a problem. It’s going to be a bumpy ride, though. P’rue can only fly for a few moments with more than one person.”✪

It was a very tight squeeze underneath the barricade piece that caught the eye, but Murikabushi indeed discovered a mirror on the underside big enough to enter. After a disorienting flip back upright, and a couple of careful steps, he was on the other side of the barricade, looking at the other side of the wall from the spire's base. It was an elegantly-carved structure, and quite taller than the wall itself. The easiest thing to spot from ground level was the array of dots that climbed up the spire - while the ones seen through the hole in the wall earlier were empty, some much higher off the ground glittered with some kind of amber gemstone inlay. Erytheia and Lysvi, meanwhile, would see a familiar sight the second the Knight's summons made it over the wall. === Kurma Guide to the Cosmos
MOOD: Stressed ACTION: Addressing the groupKurma was floating about fifteen feet above the ground, with his attention on the spire until some unwanted company showed up. Upon seeing the visitors arrive, first through the mirror and next over the wall, he sighed, shrugged, and looked down at the three with a disappointed expression. "Didn't I ask you not to go wandering around here?" he asked. "I mean, I knew most of you were gonna do it anyway, but I figured at least the folks on Cosmo's side would humor me." The jovial lilt of his tone was present, but hollow and dry, and strained, and he made a point to give Erytheia a disapproving look. No snack cakes were on offer this time.

MURIKABUSHI Dark Mirror Court, Senshi of Hunger (Basic)MOOD: Briefly disoriented, mostly annoyed. ACTION: Probably digging himself a hole, as usual. Coming out the mirror on this rock was……an experience, if mostly because Reiki usually only went into or out of them while perfectly vertical. No time to reel from having his head all messed up, though. Deep breaths, shake it out like Tay-Tay, then regroup with Lysvi and the Cosmos Knight, and get back to work on figuring out what the deal was behind the wall.
……Or at least that was the plan, and it should’ve been a solid one. But it seemed their host/kidnapper had decided to join them. “Yeah, yeah, I’m real happy for you, Jeff. Or I’m sorry that that happened.” With a huff, Murikabushi crossed his arms and frowned up at this………whatever he was, who allegedly had no…… “Hey, since we’ve got your attention anyway, a b***h wants to know: was Sailor Loud-Mouth from the Negaverse telling the truth about your chronic starseed deficiency?”

Lysvi Velencian Cadet
MOOD: That was cool!! ACTION: Wondering what Kurma is doing, aloudAs it turned out, Erytheia--or his summons, anyway--was quite capable of lifting them, and they got to enjoy a very brief but very thrilling ride of their life over the barrier. Giggles escape their lips, maybe this was why all the humans seem to like the thing they called amusement park so much. Did they not have this thing called a roller coaster? Lysvi now wanted to try one, immediately, especially one of the ones that left their feet dangling so they could kick them around as their body was thrown around beyond their control. And Murikabushi just emerging out of a surface like that was super cool, Lysvi was very interested in how that worked and how chaos had granted the ability to do such a thing-- Oh, hey, it was that guy. That told them it was dangerous. And apparently did not possess a starseed. Which, considering everything else, was a very fair question to start with. "You did say that, yes, but then you immediately left. And one of your Venusian knights tried to start a fight with us Velencians, and it got broken up by other members of Order, but then robots invited us to a party." Lysvi's brows knit. It had been an interesting couple of hours. "What are you doing?" They paused. They should probably add his name. "Jeff?"
