Perry Westerman
If you want an interview, you got it.

Name: Dr. Perry G. Westerman

Nicknames: He’s “Doc Wes” to some students, and has no real preference for what everyone else calls him.

Age: 37 48

Birthday: September 27, 1973

Sign: Libra

Blood Type: B+

Fav. Food: Perry's a big fan of pizza, barbecue, fast food, and other such things that are explicitly American and probably bad for you -- on the flip side, he's just as big a fan of authentic south-of-the-border flavors.

Hated Food: Escargot. Yes, he has tried it, yes it is as gross as you think it is. He’s also pretty sick of Italian food after a lifetime of growing up on it, and only indulges it when he’s visiting family.

Place of Work: Doc Wes teaches biology and ecology classes at Meadowview. Before this, he was researching animal behavior in South America.

Hobbies:
Teaching - As far as bio teachers go, Perry is fairly standard on the surface: loves cephalopods, always shows people that picture of the genetically modified glow-in-the-dark tobacco plant, has Gary Larson comics taped all over the door to his office. The stereotype ends there, though, as he re-entered the teaching fold straight out of several years of fieldwork abroad. He has been out in the wilderness and seen up-close and personal examples of everything he is talking about. He has been stung by jellyfish and taken joyrides on Galapagos tortoises and eaten more varieties of animal than the average person has even heard of, and photographs of these experiences make their way into his lecture Powerpoint slides whenever he can wrestle the program into working. The skulls he has displayed around the classroom are from his own collection. In other words, he has some appeal as a teacher due to more or less being Meadowview's personal Steve Irwin, sans interjections of the word "Crikey."

Field Tripping - This is a bit of a subset to the above, except for the fact that he doesn't feel the need for an academic reason to go outside. Perry will arrange the occasional field trip for weekends and Spring Break and so on if there's enough student interest for them, and the basic idea behind them most often involves camping out by a lake, catching random things and talking about them. He can’t get enough of the outdoors and showing how awesome the outdoors is to other people.

Buy One Get One Free - Buy One Get One Free is a large motorboat that Perry got for his sixteenth birthday instead of a car, and it since grew to be his most prized possession. When the weather gets nice enough (read: when it is at least 40 degrees Farenheit outside) it's not uncommon for him to take it out for a spin on one of Destiny City's lakes when free time permits. Sometimes he goes fishing. Sometimes he doesn’t feel like he needs a good reason to just go out for a ride on the water once in a while. He loves his boat. He also enjoys company on his boat, and normally won't say no to people who invite themselves along.

Meditation - A recently developed hobby in this life, but something he nowadays does as if it were a habit he was born with. Perry tries to get a in good session of calm and mental clarity every day. Normally he does so in the sanctity of his own home to minimize the risk of being interrupted or distracted, but on nicer days he’ll occasionally take his contemplations outside.

Gemstone: Sapphire

Virtues:

Mellow - Still waters run deep. Perry's general calmness seems to run up from the bottommost layers of his psyche. Highly resilient, and a smooth sailor to boot, he can let sleeping dogs lie and slip into and out of a variety of scenarios without it seeming jarring or out of place. When he is happy, it’s in a way that is approachable and welcoming, and when he is upset, he tries to keep any collateral damage to a minimum. He preaches and practices a go-with-the-flow attitude towards living. Some things cannot be changed, other things were never meant to be, and for nearly all things he is perfectly content with taking them as they come.

Familial - Perry’s first instinct upon meeting someone new is to treat them like they’re already his friend. Unless you make a particularly terrible first impression on him, he is going to start out amicable and respectful and let any judgments come later. He is a textbook extrovert who thrives on good company, and believes that every second spent on hostility would have been better used on hospitality. For any students who want to stop by his office, he always a box of doughnuts and a couple bucks to spare for the nearby vending machine. When he is at home, his door is open to anyone in the neighborhood who wants to stop by for any reason. He’ll offer a smile, listen to your problems and help you out in any way he can, just like he would his own family.

Spirited - Getting your hands dirty isn't a deterrent, it's a bonus. Taking the road less travelled is going to make all the difference. Perry has had the fortune of travelling many interesting paths in his life, and he is nowhere near done exploring what the world has to offer. He wants his entire life to be as much of an adventure as he can possibly make it, so he is nearly always in the mood for whatever you want to do, especially if it’s something new. It doesn’t matter if he sucks at it. He is going to enjoy trying and look forward to the story he’ll get to tell about it later. A single life is far too short a time to be able to do it all, but he sure as hell is going to try!

Genuine - What you see is what you get. Perry likes to keep things as simple as possible, and as such he almost never has anything to hide. Lying’s just a waste of time for him. So is dancing precariously around a conversation. He’s straightforward and honest with his words and his actions, for better or for worse, whether he’s giving compliments, critique, a Christmas gift or condolences.

Flaws:

Cryptic - As both a teacher and his more mystical alter ego, Perry puts a lot of value in students arriving at their own answers to whatever questions they may have -- or, sometimes, he is simply not the best at explaining things in layman’s terms. Whichever the case may be, he is not someone to approach if you’re looking for a straight or simple answer. At his best, he’ll provide a response that leaves sought information just out of reach, and at his worst, he may leave you more confused than you were when you first approached him. He has a propensity for speaking in riddles that shows up even in normal conversation with his peers.

Detached - Doc Wes is a mellow sort largely because he’s able to keep his perspective on the big picture. This isn’t entirely a matter of him being able to disregard the details, though, because a lot of the time the small stuff is absent from his awareness altogether. He has a poor memory for names, faces, dates, and other such things that many other people find important. This can make him sort of callous towards problems those around him might be handing, because he has a difficult time seeing why people become so invested in objects or situations that always run the risk of breaking or going sour. It also makes him forgetful unless he takes the time and effort to write all those little details down somewhere.

Careless - Approaching life with a sense of adventure and freedom seems like it would be a good quality to have, but sometimes it is not. Sometimes it’s hard for Perry to sit still or stay focused on any one thing. He is prone to aimless rambling in words and actions both, and distracting him is a remarkably easy feat to pull off. Schedules, routines and organization stick to him as well as uncooked pasta sticks to a wall. He completes tasks as they cross his mind, not as they come up on a checklist. Though he always insists he gets things done, he certainly isn’t punctual about it most of the time. Some call him irresponsible. He calls those people impatient.

Dense - Perry is one of those types prone to mistakenly thinking that if he’s having a good time, it means so is everyone else. He has almost no social peripheral vision. A lot of subtle cues fly straight over his radar. He's a pretty calm guy most of the time, but part of the reason why is because his psychological hide is just so thick it's almost impossible to get an idea across to him by dropping hints about it. If someone around him is upset, nervous, or irritated at him, chances are he won’t even notice unless they’re making a show of it. Instead of flashing signs at him, it's a better course of action to beat him over the head with them.

Physical Description:
Eyes: They're a bit of an alarmingly light, subdued brownish-gray color, something in the range of birch bark or papyrus, heavy-lidded.

Hair: Very dark crowfeather green-black, has a strong sheen to it and is immaculately straight. He has a smooth hairline, and short sideburns. For the few years since he arrived at Meadowview he has consistently forgotten to cut his hair, instead keeping it tied in a loose and messy ponytail that now reaches well past his shoulder blades.

Face: More or less shaped like a gardener's trowel or a bullet, very long and smooth with a sharp, narrow jaw. His complexion is very lightly olive-toned.

Body: 5'11", with a streamlined sort of build and notably long legs. Perry's outdoorsman ways really show in his physique: he is notably solid and sturdy, if a bit lean. He has two noticeable scars on his person: one is the remnants of a jellyfish sting on his left leg. The other runs deep across his chest, and looks like claw marks from some sort of huge animal.

Fashion: His attire typically teeters on the boundary of business casual -- he's an avid wearer of plaid shirts and khakis, has an addiction to leather hiking shoes he can't seem to break even though the terrain around Meadowview isn't that much of a challenge to navigate, and it's also not uncommon to see him sporting one of his half a dozen fishing hats. He's also typically seen both at work and elsewhere wearing a hemp necklace, but admits there's no exciting story behind it: he got it from a souvenir shop in Australia when he was in high school.

On occasion he does his fair share of T-shirt wearing, many of which depict slightly esoteric science jokes (he says his own name is an esoteric science joke but no one ever gets that one), and belt buckles with colorful beetles in them.

Kurma

User Image

Kurma is a strange being. There are some rumors that he is an attendant to Cosmos, and his actions in the past have demonstrated alignment with the cause of Order. He helped the senshi reconnect to their homeworlds years ago, and has offered them spiritual guidance. Since returning to Earth following a search in Deep Space with an unknown purpose, it's started to become apparent he's hiding something.

ABILITIES:

  • Stat Boosts
His strength and speed remain the same when powered up, while his damage resistance increases enough to survive explosions and intense heavy impacts. Poor guy's a sandbag.

  • Star Buoy
This mysterious item is compatible enough with senshi phones, Mauvian communicators and upgraded signet rings for basic communications. He can operate it telepathically to exchange text messages, make calls, and share stellar or topographical map images with pinpointed locations.

  • Levitation
He floats by habit, and can fly twice as fast as he can run.

  • Long Memory
He remembers all of his past incarnations. Since he's traveled extensively throughout all of them, he can easily locate and identify most celestial bodies. However, he has not been everywhere, and in the grand scheme of things his knowledge of the cosmos is still quite limited. The current era is his first time in the Sol system, and he generally doesn't know anything of significance about the Silver Millenium.

  • Teleportation
Kurma can, in theory, freely move to and from any location in Earth or space he has been to or has coordinates for. He can also take any number of passengers, and even move large objects. However, this all takes energy he has in unreliable supply, so he usually can't offer his full power spontaneously. In some situations he would have to store energy in advance. Transcendent Senshi and Knights with the energy-giving perk can use it to offer him some extra power.

There are many places in the cosmos Kurma does not have access to, and he obliges boundaries set by representatives of places where he is not welcome. He can be impacted by magic or technology that impacts teleportation in Negaverse agents, Mauvians, etc.
