Name: Ziya Nicknames: Stage: 2 - Beast Charmer Race: Ice (1/2) /Shifter (1/2) Parents: Zyphire & Sylvirah Siblings: Yngvara, Revnudóttir "Revna" & Silfurvængur "Silfi" The twins: Rhidian & Rhiannon Status: Single 3 Base Traits: Confident, Kind, Playful Personality: Ziya is a very confident and charismatic spirit who is afraid of no one. He loves playing around the village and admittedly has been a bit spoiled because of his family's love though he does understand how to take care of others and the importance of pulling his weight thanks to his mother's influence. Despite his playful nature and constant teasing the boy has a kind heart and will try to help anyone in need, especially his family. As he grows older the charmer will continue on with his playful personality, bonding more with animals while also enjoying the company of earthlings as he cannot seem to exist without some form of socialization. History : The eldest child of Sylvirah and Zyphire. Ziya has been raised in Zena with his younger sister learning to be a hunter while occasionally staying with his relatives towards the south. His father tended to leave during the winter months and sometimes Ziya would go with him though mostly he's been raised by his mother and her people. Now he is learning the path of the beast charmer so that he can help take care of any animals, training familiars and mounts for the riders in his village. Currently: Living in Zena Interesting Tidbits! -Good at mimicking others -Struggles with colors, partially colorblind. -Good at spinning stories, crafting and making all sorts of stews -Looks almost exactly like his older cousin Talisia, much to Zyphire's amusement.

♦ Beast Tamer ♦
“Animals really like you.”
Ziya scowled at the herd of roati that waded after him in the heavy snow. Even though they were supposed to be so much more comfortable in the stables, the creatures had decided to tag along with him when he went to clear a path from his house to the stables. Little bleats here and there kept Ziya aware of their location as he continued shoveling, sweat pouring down his back despite the bitter cold in the air. Now that the blizzard had calmed down and the sun was finally back in the gray sky, the beams somewhat flickering through puffs of white clouds that were floating back into place as if they had no idea of the storm, it was a fine time to try to get a path made throughout their little village so that everyone could get to what they needed. Fortunately for Ziya his family was on the outskirts in a stone cottage that his father had helped to repair when he was a baby, the structure bigger than most of the huts and cabins that others had set up over the initial years of the village before starting to build their own stone homes as time passed and the villagers settled more into the new area. While the villagers had their own little area a bit north of his family home that meant hopefully that he was not the only one digging a path so that he could run into others coming from the village shortly. How he had gotten stuck on roati duty the boy did not know but the fuzzy things seemed to stick to him just like the paraks at his own house that enjoyed following him around. His father liked to think that he had their cousin’s touch for interacting with animals but that seemed so against being a hunter like his family.
“Why not? Animals can be predators as well and we take what we need from the land, nothing more and nothing less.” So it was just encouraging the circle of life that was only natural in the world and not over protecting every living creature. Tamers could live that way as his own village had proven in the past with their few tamers. Ziya pursed his lips at the thought before taking a glance back towards the roati. After all what type of hunter would he make for the Ild’vann tribe if he was spending so much time coddling animals? When he was younger he loved playing with the smaller animals throughout the village, a parak or two often trailing behind him as his father’s familiar often brought along others including her own kits whenever she decided to have a few spring flings. There were also the roati, raptrix pups and chiavi chicks that stuck to him like sap whenever he was wandering about the village as a child. It was truly rare to not see him with at least some sort of creature tagging along. Ziya could remember the first time he had visited the animal sanctuary with his father as well. As a child that had been an amazing adventure but now as an older teen it almost made him sheepish to think about how easily he had fallen into caring for so many different animals. It had been a bit embarrassing at first since others teased him a lot for caring for animals like Talisia. What? So he looked like his cousin and acted like her as well? It didn’t mean he was her clone! Well, apparently not completely since a lot of the family liked to tease that he was Talisia possessed by Zyphire and Kian both. A nasty combo indeed. Ziya huffed as he shoved another mound of snow along the path, his breath misting in the early morning air. “Yeah, yeah.” He quipped as glanced towards the roati. “I’m a sucker for you guys. I like cute things, okay?” Just like how he liked cute girls from Matori too apparently. Or rather attracted them? Ziya chuckled and kicked more snow in place, his boots digging into the powdery stuff. Thankfully it hadn’t melted yet so there was less ice to worry about and rather just all of the powder….all two and a half feet of it. He had seen worse so even though his body yelled at him now for shoveling so much so quickly the teen knew it was for the best so that he didn’t have to deal with the ice when it came. They had some extra salt taken from nearby saltlicks and sand in storage that he could mix together to try to keep the path from getting too slick over the next few days. The elders claimed that the skies were calling for more snow over the next week and Ziya did not want to take the risk of having an even worse situation to deal with. They usually saved salt for preserving meat and cooking but thankfully his father had gotten extra this year before disappearing for the winter season once more. The mixture would do good though he would have to make certain the roati were locked up in the stables or in their enclosure by that point so that they weren’t spending their whole day licking the path he made.
“So back to not being able to get away from you guys.” Ziya mused once more as he finally managed to make his way to the stables, his shoulder ramming against the door as he pushed it open for the roati to flood into the area. “Maybe I should study under my cousin.” The last few weeks had made him truly think on things and while his sister had a knack for archery this jack of all trades truly didn’t know what he wanted to do. At one point he thought about becoming a merchant but that seemed so…boring? Well there were perks to traveling and he was rather good at bargaining whenever he was making deals in the city or nearby villages but at the same time it felt like a waste to focus on that when he had some damn good fighting skills. Why not focus on a craft and use that to his advantage? His people were hunters and a lot of hunters relied upon their mounts which needed training….maybe a beast tamer was not such a horrible idea. There had not been many in the village over the years and the last apprentice under the old tamer had died in the horrible raid that had happened before his birth. There was no one to take his place and their people relied heavily on the relationships formed between the riders and their chiavi and raptrix.
“Being a beast tamer does not mean I will coddle you guys forever.” He warned as he opened up a few of the stalls and made certain there was fresh hay in each for the roati who were cuddling up together in the warmth. A few low chirps of chiavi nesting within the stables caught his attention too and the teen chuckled. “Okay, well I’ll try to be fair.” He managed as he reached up to scritch one of the younger chiavi under the neck, the feathers still a mix of fluff since they hadn’t fully molted into their adult set yet. “A bit of coddling here and there.”
Ziya found himself whistling though as he went about the chores, the weight of the snow slowly melting from his leathers as he set about cleaning the stables and making certain all of the creatures inside were taken care of and fed. Extra grain, some frozen meat and water were placed in several stalls since many of the animals here were either defenseless like the roati or too young for hunting on their own like the chiavi chick and the two raptrix pups that were curled against each other. They were thankfully well trained else Ziya would have worried about leaving his roati retinue in the stables with them. The closed gates to the stalls also helped ease his worries as he made certain to secure everyone while allowing the older chiavi out to fly. They would come back in their own time and make nests either at their owner’s homes or in the rafters of the larger stables, the loft area above open just enough for the chiavi to fly in and out.
“My job here is done.” Ziya detached a young roati from his side and set it down gently in one of the stalls near its mother. “Take care, liten en. I’ll come back to check on you in the evening.” For now he would have to walk around the village and make certain everyone else was taken care of before resting a bit more. As much as he loved taking naps the teen knew that the village came first and he would also need to talk to a certain old tamer as it was. Even though he could study under his cousin the chance to travel south would not come for a few more weeks and so until then Ziya would learn all that he could under the ole timer.
