CONCEPT CONTEST: Rehoming Lieutenant Feldspar

Vella C Raptor has returned Lieutenant Feldspar to the shop to be rehomed. To rehome this character, the shop will be hosting a concept contest to fit him with an invested player who will keep him in play. This concept contest is open to anyone, but all entries must abide by the rules. Please read the full post below before working on an entry!

Contest Information

    Feldspar's existence in the shop is being completely retconned; the only roleplays that exist of this character that can be located are powered roleplays. Because the civilian has familial ties to another character in the shop, the existing civilian, Jayden Martin, will continue to exist. However, with no powered RPs, his art is being repurposed to be used towards a new character.

    This new Feldspar can be won through a concept contest, with a completely new civilian identity and backstory! This concept contest coincides with General King Axinite's quest to reach out to any Agents who have been missing or who have not met quota in some time. Axinite's reports indicate that Lieutenant Feldspar went missing somewhere in the Rift within the past three months. The ORP will conclude with the Agents locating Feldspar after the contest winner is selected. You do not need to participate in the ORP to be eligible to enter this contest.

    This contest will be open for two weeks. Contest entries do not require a full profile to be completed, but they do need to outline the character’s civilian name, hobbies, virtues and flaws, and any information that would be relevant to establishing them as a character in regards to their backstory (such as friends or family). Unlike previous concept contests, it’s not the profile that will determine the winner as much as it is the story behind why Lieutenant Feldspar is in the Rift. Players must write at least one paragraph to detail a compelling backstory or reason for why Feldspar has been trapped, crystalized, in the Rift.

    There are a few major rules to keep in mind when designing this backstory:

    • New characters are usually only allowed to be awakened up to two weeks prior to coming into play. This character can be up to three months old, however would have become trapped within the first two weeks of powering up. While trapped, he will be encased in a crystal and frozen in stasis.
    • No one can teleport in or out of the Rift.
    • As a Lieutenant, he would not be able to bond with a Personal Youma
    • A new agent would have been discouraged from entering the Rift, as youma are very dangerous and do not obey the rules of command. An unescorted Agent, especially a new one, would have been an easy target.
    • You may reference your own NPC characters as need be, and may include disposables in your backstory. You can reference PC characters as well, as long as you have player permission to do so.
    • A youma will be guarding the crystal when Feldspar is found and it will need to be defeated in the battle ORP; if you want to incorporate this in some way to your backstory, you may!

    Please PM The Space Cauldron with the following form before 11:59 PST on Sunday, March 7th. Moderator Staff and GMs will vote, and the winner will be announced within 72 hours. Each player can only submit one concept, so please only send your best one in!

You should go into as much detail as necessary to create a compelling story, and you should follow all of the previously listed rules. Please feel free to be creative! Winning Procedures

    When the winning entry is selected, the player will have two weeks to get the completed quest up for stamping. The character must be stamped before they can be ICly played; when Feldspar is recovered in the ORP, he will be unconscious. You can play him waking up as soon as you receive a stamp.

    If the winning player is unable to post a completed quest for a stamp within two weeks, they forfeit their win and Feldspar will go to another player, so please keep an eye on deadlines for this! Please also make sure you save the art and host it on your own accounts.

    The first stage of art was done by Natsube; Natsube is not responsible for growing this character and should not be contacted for future stages. The winning player will be able to grow on templates when the character reaches growth requirements at no cost to them; this is considered a contest win so second and third stage growths are free. However, it is important to note that the winning player must keep Feldspar in the Negaverse until he has at least General requirements. Feldspar cannot be purified under any circumstances otherwise, and it is heavily encouraged by the shop to only enter this concept contest if you intend to keep him in the Negaverse permanently. We will always work with struggling players and will not punish anyone who finds themselves headed towards purification after he hits all growth requirements, but entering this concept is acknowledging that OOCly purification is impossible until then. Lieutenant Feldspar cannot be rehomed to another player but he can be surrendered back to the shop.

Rehoming Other Characters

    If a player has any powered characters they would like to rehome to the shop to be released in similar style events, the shop will compensate the player with one Crown Token per character.. We realize that this payment doesn’t compare to the price of a new character, but previously there was no compensation for rehoming a character. If any player finds they have no muse or are stuck with a character they no longer have any desire to play, please let us know and we can work to get them back into play. Congratulations to EchosSweet! Lieutenant Feldspar is now yours! You will need to complete a full profile for him and post him for stamping in the Acquired Character thread!

We had several wonderful entries and regret that we had only one character to rehome for this contest. We would like to strongly encourage anyone who entered this competition and is attached to their character profile and plot to please keep it in mind; the staff is willing to work with anyone who wants to quest for a new character using those character profiles and slightly modified backstories. All of the entries we received were incredibly creative and well thought out, and we would like to award all of our entries a runners-up prize: one free, non-arted civilian character!

The character does not have to be the character profile you entered with; if you are interested in claiming a non-arted civilian character, you will still need to post them for stamping in the Acquired Character thread! When posting, please just indicate that the character was acquired through this Concept Contest! If you want to use your elements of your submitted background story at some point after acquiring the powered side of the character, please PM the shop mule and we will work with you on approval! You will only have until 3/31 to post your character for approval in the Acquired Character Stamping thread; after that point in time, the character will be forfeit.

All contest wins have no cooldown; these are special characters!
