Takes place right after Weapons Class, as a demonstration of Aura Hand to Hand Combat.

Class had ended for all of the other students, all but one Miss Auburn. She was to stay and participate in a special assignment while Geremald gave others permission to stay and watch to learn about it. He cracked his knuckles and rolled his shoulders as he stared her down. "Your lesson is to fight me in hand to hand combat. If you fear you may hurt me then don't. I've had much worse experiences fighting hand to hand than what you could dish out." He told her coldly while he took a deep breath and brought his left foot back, he placed his left hand high up behind his head while his right foot stepped forward. while his right hand moved before him. He turned his left foot, so it was perpendicular to his right foot as it remaind foward. His right hand had the back facing to her, his fingers towards him as he exhaled slowly. "If you cannot beat me, I will personally fail you in this class." He forwarned her, as a small light blue shield was erected around them, trapping the both of them upon the stage for their fight. 'She has show me what she has to offer for this school... if she can't, she will be deemed unworthy of her huntress lisence.' He thought to himself while waiting for her to assume her stance. Even if she did try to get the jump, he was prepared to evade her attack and re-assume his stance.
Auburn wasn't really thrilled about having to stay after and, as it turned out, to essentially perform. The elderly man apparently wanted her to fight him in hand to hand. This was not a good idea. And made even worse as they were closed into the fighting area. He spouted off self-confidences that he could take whatever she threw at him and telling her she'd fail if she couldn't beat him. Internally, she was already having to fight back the urge to unleash herself. It felt too much like the fighting pit already for her liking. She tried to stay calm though and kept a passive expression on her face as she eyed the old man.
"Not sure what the point of these classes are at this point seeing as I keep getting failed for bullshit reasons. Last time, it was because I didn't flinch as some ******** idiot with a big gun opened fire in the class. Now, if I don't beat an old man who seems certain he can't lose, I'll be failed. Thought the idea of this place was to train hunters, not ritualistically fail them so they can never graduate."She was no fool. He might seem old and frail, but, he'd damn near caved the skulls of half the damn class earlier. And he obviously had some form of proper training. She did not. But, she had learned to keep herself alive and hadn't suffered a loss prior to her escape. Her odds weren't particularly good, but, she had far more experience than she felt normal for her age. Unlike him, she had no actual stance, she simply stood there, watching him. She was certain that, in this case, starting off defensively would be her best option. She left her arms at the ready, muscles tensed in anticipation as she fought the urge to rush him and unleash all hell on him.

Geremald simply watched her as she began to speak about how she failed to see the point of classes and getting failed for bs reasons. He twitched his moustache as he stared her down before he slowly took two steps, closing the distance as he seemed to keep his defenses up, prepared if she were to try and attack. "The point of these classes is to see the excellence the students who applied have to offer. Insolence in the face of people who want to see you at your best only serves to show that you have nothing to offer this school and the world. A huntress and huntsman cannot just kill grimm at their own leisure, they have to follow due process to avoid being seen as criminal threats that put others in harms way." He told her calmly but as soon as he was 5 feet, his arms having moved during his walk to keep a defensive stance, his body tensed as he held his right hand up, clenched as a fist. "This class was to make sure that your weapons, both ones you don't use often and your current weapons, are to be kept in good conditions otherwise they break... just. Like. The Body!" He shouted before he thrusts his right hand, closing the final distance in an instant. If she didn't dodge, or catch his fist, he would send her back into the hardlight wall. If she did dodge or catch his fist, he'd follow up with a smooth transition into a sidestep to her sides and an attempt to trip her up and using the same fist to drive her down onto her back. She'd have to dodge his attack twice to avoid following into some hard damage as he spoke. "I grew up on the streets learning the way of hand to hand combat. You mock someone's upbringing you better be ready to back up your own!"
Auburn cocked her brow at his retort."Yes, walking into the class and firing on students and then singling out one person of a class and setting them a task you are confident is impossible is wanting to see your students at their best. And we wouldn't want to confuse the civil mindless souless creatures that attack without remorse for monsters."She kept her focus up the entire time as he neared her.. Finally, he lunged, shouting. She was ready though and batted his hand to the side, pivoting with him. Feeling rather than seeing his leg move to trip her, she quickly lifted her leg and adjusted her stance. His strength seemed to be in controlling the movement of the battle.
When he brought up how he grew up, her eyes darkened a bit."Good for you old man. You had freedom. That's more than I can claim. Don't lecture me on hardship. You grew up on the streets, I grew up in a dark cell sleeping in my own waste and blood. Whipped and tortured, barely fed, and forced to fight for my life daily. Even forced to kill anyone I grew close to. I had to endure losing children I never asked to have. You are not so special. I don't have much to offer the world, you're right. All I know is death and fighting. Not many options in terms of work for someone like me. But, I'm making the effort. I am choosing to go with the option that means I can actually contribute in some way before I die rather than sink to being some brute preying on others."She suddenly shot forward at him without warning, staring him down as she swung. Her eyes were bloodshot, the irises glowing light blue. Just as suddenly as she rushed him though, she fought back to control herself, pulling her punch. "Dammit...please...lower the barrier at least. I'm starting to feel caged and it's hard to hold back. I'll finish the lesson if needed, but, I'm not worried about how hard I hit. I'm worried about being able to stop hitting."

Geremald felt her parrying his hand as he noticed how strong and calloused her hands felt. He listened to her as she spoke before he responded once more. "I never said the task is impossible. If I single you out to see if you can best me, I believe you can accomplish this task." He told her while his sweep missed from her moving the leg, which he had anticipated before he returned back to his fighting stance while he listened to her and how she was brought up. "Bah, freedom? I had to fight for my family for us to survive long enough for me to live. You grew up with someone else to care for you, even in a harsh environment. I lived off the streets, you lived in a hell cage, which one of us had a better roof over their head? All I knew was violence before I escaped that life, you're choosing to embrace it by joining something like this!" He retorted as to him, she was tunnel-visioned on following such a narrow future when she lunged at him. He stepped towards her, his left hand moving up as his left forearm and wrist pushed her punch to the side as she was failing to control her strength. "If you feel you can't control it, then I will make you learn to do so with proper martial arts." He told her within the small time frame as he was in the process of throwing a palm towards her abdomen. There was so little space, so little time to evade as she indeed lacked the control to do what was needed. She would have to block with aura as his right hand was coated in his own, protecting it as he was striking with his upper strength. If she failed to block then the initial hit would hurt much worse before sending her flying back into the hard light barrier. If she somehow dodged the attack, he'd transition into a reverse roundhouse kick aimed at the back of her knees, depending as to which side she evaded too. If she jumped back, he'd follow quickly with his left hand towards her abdomen just as his right hand tried to do. 'A caged dog needs to fight, but learn self control. That's what I did, and that is what I will help you do.' He told himself mentally as she seemed so 0-100% rather than being able to control it.
Auburn didn't care that he seemed to think she had the better of it. He was wrong. It'd take days to fully express just what utter hell she'd lived through, so, there really was no point in continuing the topic, He did say something that caught her off guard though. He actually thought she was capable? She wasn't really used to much of anything aside from disdain and cruelty so, she wasn't quite sure how to process that. He went on to say he'd force her to learn to control herself with martial arts. As he did so, his palm slammed into her, though, where it hit turned bloody red and glowed slightly before dimming back down as her Aura responded to catch the blow. At the same time, her head surged forward, as if to headbutt him as her left arm swung up to try to hit him in the abdomen. Her right hand was waiting to grab him should he manage to evade both attacks. If any hit, unless he had a way to nullify the momentum entirely, he'd be flung into the wall behind him. If it happened with the throw, Auburn would rush him again the moment she let go. She had no clue how to just activate her Aura primitively, but, her experience in the pit left her with a fast reflexive response with her Aura that was second nature to her by now.

Geremald felt her aura catching as he pulled back on the hit, to avoid sending her flying yet. But he watched her lurch her head forward as he thrusts his head forward to her head, his aura activating on conscious thought while he looked down, having prevented her head from gaining much momentum he had nullified her ability to cause serious harm especially with his aura. Her fighting style was primitive, and with his training, easy to predict and null as his aura covered head blocked her headbutt rather well, standing his ground. But as she used her left arm, he shifted his right, using the elbow to knock her punch off course and having her miss his body entirely. He slipped underneath her now open left arm, his right leg swinging in an arc around and then towards the back of her left leg. He was faster than he seemed to be as he was attempting to buckle her onto a knee and use his right hand to slam her face into the wooden ground. She would have to be faster to evade his swift and fluid movements and since he hasn't used his semblance, would it be fair for her to use her own? If she failed to evade him, he'd drive her face down and hold her there with his right foot holding her leg down, his hand holding her head down, and his left leg primed incase she tried anything with her left arm. Since he evaded her right side, he had no worry for her right hand as his method was straightforward, skill over brawn.
Auburn didn't expect him to headbutt her in turn to cancel hers out before deflecting her punch, but, she didn't let it affect her as she pivoted once more with him. He hadn't bothered to defend against her attempt to grab him, simply stepping further away. She made to grab his arm even as he tried to connect with her knee. If she managed to grab him, it'd be worth taking the blow to the back of her knee, It wouldn't be the first time someone had managed it, but, it'd be a first in a very long time if he managed to force her further towards the ground. If he managed to somehow dodge the grab and she wound up on her knee, she'd push back against his attempt to force her down and reach for the hand holding her head instead. If she grabbed it, she'd rip him off his feet and slam him into the ground. She was barely there anymore, fighting on instinct and struggling to remain in control as her body acted on it's own as if she were in a fight to the death.

Since Geremald had side-stepped her right hand, he could see her hand reaching out for him as he knocked her down onto a knee. His eyes narrowed before he kicked off of her leg, evading her as he performed a backflip and landed on his right foot. He entered a new stance, his left leg raised and poised as his left hand was held before him, clenched in a fist. His right hand held up high with the palm facing the sky, his agility outclassed hers, even by minor moments, her movements were untrained and he was skilled in many styles. "I can sense your intent alone, your body is tense and the veins are apparent. You need to calm yourself and go with the flow of the world." He instructed her, his speed was higher than hers, his endurance not so high due to age, and his strength was outclassed by the muscles he had felt in just her calves. Yet, the one place she needed to be tought in was what he excelled in, Control and Skilled Discipline. "Deep breath in, and exhale." He ordered her while waiting for her to make a move, if she attacked with her arms, he'd counter with a swift thrust kick to launch her backwards. If she used her legs, he'd have to resort to blocking with his aura for his entire body considering he was on one leg. His mind was racing as to what he could prepare next for her predictable brutish style.
She was getting irritated by his strike and run method. He was fast, that was certain. She'd need her semblance to match his speed. But, that was the only physical advantage he had. Prolonged fights were nothing new to her and even back to back fights. He was old and she doubted he'd actually fought with any regularity in a very long time. She had the staying power in this as well as the strength. And her damaged nerves and acclimation to pain meant it'd be hard for him to land a hit that would actually do much to her. She vaguely heard him as he told her she needed to relax. Her intent? That was not so cut and dry. She was still there, trying to control herself while every fiber in her being screamed to break him into as many pieces as she could.
She got up and spun around to face him, charging forward. Somewhere in the back of her mind, a voice crept forward though, sparked by what he was saying. The only voice of concern she remembered. Just before she reached him, already prepping to throw a punch, she followed through prematurely, hitting the ground, her momentum causing her to flip, her leg coming down to hit him in the shoulder from above. At the same time, she tried to grab the leg he was standing on in a hold with her free arm. If he evaded, she'd be left open for a moment, but, she was confident she could take whatever hit the old man might counter with.

Geremald watched as she performed a forward flip, launching her leg out to strike his shoulder with a flip kick rather than a low sweep. He was a bit surprised but he raised his aura up and brought his right arm down to block the hit with his right forearm, the wood creaking under him. His leg was firm, remaining standing as he looked down and saw her free hand before he spoke. "You underestimate my strength." He told her calmly and as he had intended with his left leg, he thrusts forward with it, fast and furiously had right at the lower back that connected to her pelvis. She had little odds of grabbing his leg in time to even trade with grabbing his standing leg. If she wanted to avoid being sent flying considering she had no solid grip on the smooth surface of wood on stage, she'd have to drop the attempt and get away.
Auburn took the blow to her back, her aura coming up in time to dampen it. Not that it was needed. Even without the aura defense, she wouldn't have felt any pain from it. The kick flipped her back upright as she flew back a bit, though, she seemed to not suffer much for it. She was back in control for now, but, the primal survival side of her was struggling to rise again. Taking a moment, she shrugged off the uniform jacket and started to remove the shirt and tie.
"And you dp the same. If you're going to be laying into my back, Let me get rid of these. A scar might reopen and I'm tired of trashing shirts because of blood."When she had it off, she tossed both into the corner and looked back at the teacher. She took up a defensive position. If she was going to end this, she'd need her speed boost and she needed to wait a little longer to use it. She did not advance on him for the time being. T this point, she was certain she could either end it quickly with her semblance, or simply outlast his endurance.

Geremald shook his head as he took a deep breath and exhaled, having landed the kick, he watched her land before he soon raised his left foot and stomped down. His left hand moved to be before him, the pinkie and ring finger curled with his index and middle fingers curled with his thumb poised, like a dragon's claw. His right hand clenched as a fist and held to his side while his right foot slipped behind him. He closed his eyes as he heard her words and spoke. "I underestimate no one. I can tell how strong you are, you are just unable to channel it without losing your senses." He told her, having figured her out throughout their short state before he soon opened his eyes. "If you cannot control it, then you will be right before.... you have no chance to beat me." He told her sternly as his eyes narrowed, he remained standing, patience and discipline keeping him sturdy while he awaits her. His eyes watching her uncultured stance as his way of combat was skill and application over brute strength.
Auburn frowned as he continued to lecture her, though, she almost laughed as he brought up her saying she had no chance against him."I said you thought it was not possible for me to win. You might have me in speed and style, but I have more staying power than you. If you expect me to just up and get a new style in the span of a single fight, then you're being foolish and this is no fair judgement on my capabilities. So, if I'm right about anything, then it's the teachers having a habit of failing students for the ******** of it. Even when my Aura's down, I am not that easy to down. I wouldn't be here otherwise. I'd be a rotted corpse in some pile if it were that easy."
She rolled her neck, vertebrae popping loudly and rolled her shoulders to loosen up."So far, I've been trying to fight you fairly. But, if you insist I really make the effort old man, then fine."She closed the distance between them, leading with a left hook for the ribs, though, she intended it as a feint and would change out last second with a swipe at his face. However, it wasn't a punch. Her hand was cupped in a claw-like shape. She'd go for the eyes, but, be ready to grab his arm if he tried to block or deflect it. If successful, she'd start slamming him around, doubtful he could force her grip to slip. She'd give it a moment and aim for his right pit as well with the left hand she'd feinted with. If he tried to maneuver around her again, she'd make sure to keep up with it and try a blow below the belt and a sweep with her leg, if either connected, she'd try to grab him. If he lunged back, she simply charge ahead to meet him. She needed to be close now to prepare to ambush him with her enhanced speed, so, she kept the onslaught up, always closing the distance and trying to keep him on the defensive, being wary of any further attempts at the back of her knee or to her legs in general.
