「PERSONALITY」
Curious and frequently eager to experience more of the world, Boulder is always pushing at his limits. He has incredibly low self-esteem thanks to his parents, but instead of wallowing in it he attempts to try and prove his worth. This can manifest in a sudden need to prove he's useful to a wolf around him, or working at a job until he's worn down and raw. On top of that, he just simply wants to know things -- how certain things feel and what something may look like. Due to this, Boulder knows a little about everything! He also... gets hurt a lot due to shoving his nose where it does not belong.
Boulder is fairly timid. He seeks comfort in other wolves and loves making connections, but in the back of his mind he's always analyzing everything he does and figuring out the flaw in it. He struggles being honest to himself. Often, he'll lie about how he is feeling to attempt to keep others happy. That's all that really matters to him; friends being happy. He needs time to open up and truly bond with another wolf. Once that happens, however, he may actually be honest about his situation and feelings time to time.
He is small, despite his name. This is a sore point and he makes it known by the grimace on his face when other wolves exclaim in surprise. He hates being small. He wishes he actually lived up to his name, but he's also trying to learn to accept himself as who he is. It's a long struggle and a road he'll be on for awhile. In the meantime, Boulder finds beauty in just about anyone. Everyone has something special about them and he'll happily let wolves around him know how unique they are.
Surprisingly, Boulder does have a strength to him fueled by his emotions. He can become incredibly and desperately hostile to protect his loved ones. In a battle he'd be one of the first to throw himself in-front of his loved ones, regardless of the fact he probably will get ruined in the process. He does have a high pain tolerance and decent stamina, though, so he works as a good decoy.
Lastly, Boulder loves family. Due to how horrible his parents are, he views family as those you chose to have in your life. His pack is family. Invisible Shade is family. Close friends are family. He also wants a million kids, although he's yet to really seek that out. ________________________________
「FEARS」
█ || His Parents ⋯ Specifically, his father, who quite literally threw him out of the family. █ || Snakes ⋯ They move weirdly, okay?! ________________________________
「LIKES」
█ || Making Friends ⋯ No, seriously, befriend this boy. █ || Racing ⋯ He's a quick boy and enjoys running through nature. Especially competitively. █ || Heat ⋯ It's comforting, honestly. He enjoys summer the most. █ || Swimming ⋯ He's not particularly good at it, but that is besides the point. █ || Cuddling ⋯ Very physically affectionate, he'll cuddle with anyone. ________________________________
「DISLIKES」
█ || His Size ⋯ It's hard to accept what his parents couldn't. █ || Thieves ⋯ Taking what doesn't belong to you and what others worked hard to get is just wrong. █ || Most Vegetables ⋯ Yes, he's one of those. He's a wolf! He refuses to eat "rabbit food".

「BIOGRAPHY」
█ || Puppy ⋯ His parents hadn't planned for him, but they weren't mad, either. In fact, when his litter was born (three girls, one boy) they were absolutely delighted by him. He was a big, round, and healthy puppy. Promising, even. He would grow to be big like his father, they believed. So he was named Boulder in honor of that excitement.
Except, he never lived up to the expectations. Instead, he grew slower than his siblings, becoming a small and frail-spoken wolf. During this time he met Invisible Shade, who was a puppy born at the same time he was by a neighboring family his parents were close to. While his father sneered at him he often found comfort in Shade. The two were best of friends. Shade was the only reason he had a happy childhood.
His mother began to ignore him and his father would often mock the small puppy. He never understood why his size mattered, but clearly it did. This began to grow a self-hatred in him he would spend a long time trying to shake. ________________________________
█ || Adult ⋯ Quite literally barely an adult, Boulder began to notice his father grow more aggressive towards him. He withdrew from Shade and stopped visiting him. Instead, he tried to appease his father. He was doing something wrong, somehow, and Boulder wanted to find a way to fix whatever it was he was doing. Unfortunately, when he asked his father one day what it was that Boulder had exactly done, he was physically flung. Shade, worried, had arrived at the family grounds at that exact moment, witnessing the encounter.
Boulder's father chased him from the den. Shade immediately brought Boulder to his family, where Shade's parents offered Boulder a home, but his agreement was a lie. Boulder was done being a burden. In the dead of night he snuck out, fully intending to begin a journey alone. Shade, though, knew his friend would do such a thing and followed after. When he revealed himself he told Boulder he would come with; wherever Boulder went was home. Shade didn't want to see his friend leave forever. Boulder felt his heart flutter when he accepted.
So they began traveling together, seeking somewhere they could call home. During their travels Boulder began to realize his feelings were....strange for Shade. Glances became just a bit longer and the two would shuffle nervously at times. Unfortunately, traveling meant they had little time to explore these feelings. So they didn't.
When they were nothing but weary bones and close to giving up they met Permafrost; a pregnant she-wolf who greeted them when they stumbled upon Hornfels Hollow land. She was welcoming and invited them into the pack to meet her Alpha. The two, happy to have found somewhere kind and welcoming, already knew their decision by the time it was asked if they'd want to stay.
They were safe at last, and safety finally forced Boulder to begin looking into the feelings he was trying to ignore. Now that there wasn't anything really to distract him he had nowhere to hide, and his growing feelings for Invisible Shade strengthened. Boulder probably would have never said anything, so it was a good thing Shade eventually ended up confessing to Boulder.
It seemed without question they'd become lifemates.
Boulder now had a home, a mate, and friends. He began to finally allow himself to dream. Children were a topic Shade and Boulder had countless times, and both agreed they wanted them. They'd just need to find surrogates first.
