Althea walked along the edge of the water fountain in the heart of the town square. Her hands were buried deep in her pockets as she watched her feet move one in front of the other like a trapeze performer walking on a thin rope. Her form was not that elegant, she seemed like an amateur at best, she had done quite a few laps around the fountain by now for no particular reason. Her movements were so careful and slow that few birds decide to take advantage of the ever so still witch and nest in her pillow cotton candy hair. Though the little feathered intruders were quickly chased away but her purple tarantula companion Fuzzy who moved effortlessly to the top of her head and stood watch over his silly witch friend who was none the wiser of his great deed, “Sleeeep, sleep, sleeeep.” She softly muttered under her breath, the water in the fountain began to shift in the opposite direction, the small bubbles that floated on the surface clustered together and began to take strange shapes while she muttered an odd melody to herself, “Don’t lie too close to the edge of the bed~” She whispered the song a tad off key, she was more concerned about her balance then the song she mindlessly sung.

The bubbles on the surface of the water formed into a crescent moon that morphed into a creepy wolf, “Or a little grey wolf will come~” Her expression appeared serious the more she advanced as if entranced with something that seemed random and unimportant. After she gave Lloyd the best campus tour, she could offer the bell had rang, classes had begun and the two had to part ways. The witch was a little bumped they could not interact longer but knew they would meet again- the campus was not that big after all. After the two had split ways the witch found herself exploring more of the school and began to venture much further until she found herself where she currently was. In the city making circles around the water fountain, “And grab you by the flank-” Her singing ceased as her tongue slowly poked out from the corner of mouth. She stopped in mid-step, her body grew stiff when her body startled to wobble while struggling to keep her balance, “oooooh…. oooohh… no,no,nooooo~ ” She wobbled some more. She lightly bit down on her lower lip. Her lavender eyes grew just a bit wider as her body began to tilt a little more to one side. The water returned to its proper flow, the bubbles quickly dispersed and silently pop away when her strange song stopped.

She carefully withdrew her left hand from her pocket to help balance herself out. She held in her breath as the anxious wobbling gradually ended. A smile formed on her lips when order had been restored but her focus quickly strayed when a purple light emanated from the palm of her hand. She tore her gaze from her feet to glance at her glowing left hand. She wiggled her fingers in the air with a smile. The distraction lasted long enough for her hair shift its weight against her to tip the battle with gravity against her, “Aw, fudgenuts” She cursed under her breath as she fell towards the fountain. Luckily for her she had a natural gift for defying gravity, she started to hover over the water just before she had her second big splash of the day. She floated away from the water with a grin on her face; Well, 40 laps were good, not record good, but good enough. She lightly shrugged.

She held her glowing hand out in front of her face, her lite light illuminated her face. A series of symbols rippled over the surface of her skin. She bent her index finger over to lightly tap against the center of her glowing palm. The light zipped up her arm and transferred to her left ear. The glow left a warm tingling sensation in its path and warmed the inside of her ear as if a doctor was shining Ear scope into her ear. She kept quiet for a moment before her face lit up with joy, “Biiiiitch, I know you did that on purpose! That peeping girl Tootie there with you?” Althea crossed her arms as she floated down back down to plant her feet on the dry ground, “Like I said, all seeing powers is not worth having a creepy bird demon eating my eyeball and-“ She stopped as if interrupted and began to slowly pace back and forward with her gazed aimed towards the sky while she listened to whatever words the light feed into her ear. ” Well, Hmm- Crap, yeah that is a good point… I could use it to peep on some seriously hot booties- NO, it doesn’t have x-ray vision, I want to see the bare a**, if it comes with that then, maybe- No, no. My mom would flip and that bird demon thing is a no go, they aren’t even house trained, that’s one cleaning job I won’t do, the smell is impossible to get rid of!” Althea shook her hand in front of her face with a grossed out look on her face from just imagining the smell.

People nearby who overheard her speak appeared oddly conscious about letting the odd witch see their rears, but she was too occupied with her call to notice their discomfort. Not that she would care, there was nothing too eye catching in the crowd, though there were a few star items that caught the witch’s star struck eyes, “Anything happen while I’ve been away? Your little brother any better?” Althea casually smiled as she sat down on the edge of the water fountain. She listened very intently to whatever the person at the other end of the call had said, she closed her eyes for a moment as she tried to imagine her friend sitting beside her saying those very words in person. She knew long distance was a drag but never realized it would be this hard. Her expression changed a few times depending on what she heard, and let out a tickled laugh as well, “Just ask Aunty Fee and she’ll make another remedy for his swamp fever- and…Yeah, School life here isn’t so bad, the professors are cool so far and the students can be a blast, had a while party the other night-OH, and I met this guy with a cute butt who loves pineapple, like A LOT- Right!? I was envious of his stomach too; he could probably beat Fergus at that eating contest. - Ugh, Yes,yes, yes, yes, I’m not going to goof off too much. Thanks MOM” The witch blew out a loud raspberry from her lips. While she carried on the call, she caught the interest of a few more bird who were shooed away by her diligent friend Fuzzy.

Althea stood back up and tapped her ear with her index finger. The light left her ear and hovered in the form of an orb in front of her. The sight of the glowing orb excited her. The ball then began to spin around her before it burst and expanded its size into a human figure that stood before her. The light was not mimicking her, no it was an entirely different person with no fascial features and just a tad shorter than her. The young witch burst out in delighted laughter, “Alright, I needed this!” She shouted as she raised her hands high up into the air, the glowing figure did the same, and the two step forward and clapped their hands together, and thus began the strange dance of friendship. Althea and the figure twirled, side stepped, it was lively like a k pop dance routine, though some moves were a little strange. Whenever she spun, if people has not given her space while she spoke so loudly during her call, her large mass of curly pink and purple hair moved the people away like strong winds pushes away clouds. The people stood far enough away but found it hard to look away at the display of magic and joy the young witch emanated with the glowing figure.

With a cheeky grin on her face the two turned their backs to each other and wrapped out the dance with a good ol’ booty bump. The two faced each other again, the witch gently waved her hand goodbye, “Nothing makes a friendship sweeter than a special handshake, talk to you later, miss you like crazy!” She nodded as the light returned to the palm of her hand, forming into a glowing heart shape before the light faded away. Althea lowered her hand with a long sigh, the enchanted call made her just a little more homesick, but also, “WOOOWEEEE! I wanna so some stupid s**t!” She excitedly shouted off the top of her lungs. Clearly unaware of the special she made of herself, a crowd of people had formed to watch the strange dance she performed with the glowing light. When one of the people clapped at her, the suddenly snapped back to reality she looked at the people with a bit of a red face and a small wave of her hand; City folk are kinda weird…. She thought while her friend Fuzzy crawled down onto her shoulder, she looked over to him with a confused look on her face. The tarantula merely shook his head, but figured it was no surprised because the witch had drawn attention no matter where she was for her odd behavior.

After she escaped the cheering crowd the witch walked about the town square to enjoy some sight-seeing. She also had a few laughs people watching as well. She grinned as she watched a child struggle on whether or not to eat a large booger they excavated from their nose. The witch softly chuckled when the child thought it would be wise to innocently wipe the nose nugget onto a teen’s jacket before their parents noticed. The poor booger victim was more occupied with making out with their partner. She suddenly came to a halt when she stepped into a larger shadow the cloaked her from the warm sun. She curiously looked up to see a tall statue beside her. She stepped closer to examine the tall figure. A strong brutish man dressed like a knight from forever ago, she gave the dramatic flowing cape a nod of approval. The witch squinted her eyes as she tried to focus more on his expression. So serious, she wondered if his guy every cracked a smile for a joke, or was he just like the statue and crumble with a change of expression?

Hmmm, reminds me of… The witch stood up straight, and puffed out her chest with a serious look on her face to mimic the statue, “Althea Lightroot! Stop turning your sister into a squirrel! She keeps stashing all our good trail mix in the trees while she sleeps!” Althea wagged her finger at the statue, but she quickly broke her serious act with laughter, “Ha, yeah, Just like mom,- Maybe he’s a long lost relative-” She stopped as she suddenly walked behind the statue to observe other ‘details’. She slowly shook her head in disappointment with just a mere chance of the rear view, “Hmmm, Nope, this is not the Lightroot bottom….” She sighed though she was a little relieved to know her Mother’s seriousness was not a family trait; all those strange family memories would likely never exist if that were the case.

While she looked at the statue, her little purple friend that was perched on her shoulder had been silently eyeing the top of the statue. Before the witch could continue sight-seeing, Fuzzy leapt off her shoulder without warning onto the statue and quickly crawled toward the top. Althea raised an eyebrow as she watched him move at an impressive speed, “Um, buddy? Whatcha doin-” As soon as he reached the statue’s serious face, the mischievous tarantula quickly went to work . She watched with wide eyes as Fuzzy weaved his spider silk into wide ribbon that stretched all the way down to the ground and attached the long webbing to the statue’s face that dangled like a beard. She put her hand over her face in attempts to conceal her laughter with inflated cheeks, ”Pffff! FUZZY!” She delated her cheeks with a chuckle as tears began to pool in her eyes from her on going laughter. Fuzzy stood on the statue’s nose and wiggled his abdomen in humorous delight.

Althea smiled as she watched his craft caterpillar eyebrows, dangling nose hairs, and eyepatch and other silly features on the poor statue, “F-fuzzy…St…Stop! I can’t breathe!” Althea laughed as she held her sides that felt as though they were burst open an release a swarm of bees, “Yo-you are so b-bad!” She wheezed with tears rolling down her face. When she managed to catch her breath, she wiped her tears away with a smile, “You know, I bet he wouldn’t be so grumpy with a new outfit-” Althea was then interrupted by loud ‘Ahem’. She jumped in surprise and quickly spun around to be face to face with a real-life grumpy face of a public security guard. The man glared at the witch with his arms tightly crossed, his metal badge twinkled in her face. The man looked at the web vandalism and back down at her with an accusing gaze. She nervously cleared her throat while she twiddled her fingers behind her back.

She knew that face well; she was quite the troublemaker at home. The witch took a deep breath before she step forward to defend herself, “Hey, it wasn’t me! Do I look like spider woman?! It was Fuz-” Althea pointed up towards the statue expecting to see her purple friend but the eight-legged vandal was no were to be seen; That little… She tightly pressed her lips together as she looked back to the security guard who looked at the odd witch with disbelief, “Look, my friend did it- he’s a purple tarantula and he had the bright idea to do it-Well, I guess I should have been a better friend by not encouraging him but well- have you ever tried to convince a tarantula not to do something?! It’s not easy, tarantulas are VEEEERRRRYYY stubborn! So you see, it’s all a big-” She stopped her nervous yammering when he noticed the man was not going to change his mind, and while the guard had his eyes on the girl, Fuzzy slowly crept down the statue and hopped back into her hair where it was safe from angry security guard who might want to squish him.

Althea glanced off to the side as she tried to think of a way to escape, only a silly idea came to mind but it was an idea she was willing to try, “Ummmmmmmmm…..OH! WHAT’S THA-” Althea suddenly shouted as she attempted to point behind the grumpy security guard to distract him, but accidently managed to slug him across the face when she swung her hand forward. She turned pale as white chalk when she felt her knuckles come into contained with the man’s greasy unshaved face. She heard a faint chipping sound when his jaw shifted from the blow. Her accidental attack made the man stumble back and fall into a bright blue flower bush. Eyes wide while blue flower petal rose up into the air. She dropped her hand down to her side, her hand still tightly ball up with a warm buzzing sensation on her knuckles, “Oh, s**t….” She mumbled, as she stood up on her tippy toes to check if the man was alright, his arms and legs dangled out of the bush. She took a step forward and tapped his leg with the tip of her foot. There was no responsive movement, she leaned in until she heard a sighing groan from the bush. That alone erased the tension in her body, her shoulders slumped down with a sigh of relief. She pulled a few band aids and a heart sticker from her coat and sprinkled them over the bush, “Feel better-Welp, BYE!” She grimaced before she pivoted on her feet and took off like a bat out of hell out of the town square; Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid!

                                          [exit]
