There were ten artifacts of great power that were made to help balance the powers that be. These items were called The Orb of Baast, the Forlorn Hope, the Shadow Sword, Paradox's Pearl, Dimension Dagger, Ring of the Spirit, Death's Pendulum, Fan of the Inferno, Sword of Vitality, and Bow of the Cosmos. These items were used by Spirit World to take control of the other worlds so that a certain balance could be maintained. Once the great wars started to be settled around five hundred years ago, these ten items were locked up in Spirit World's deepest vault.
_𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮...
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
Three and a half years ago, three of the artifacts were stolen. The thieves stole the Shadow Sword, Orb of Baast, and Forlorn Hope. These bandits were brought to justice one way or another by Yusuke Urameshi, Prince Koenma's Spirit Detective of the time. The other artifacts lay dormant in the vault until very recently. In the torment caused by the Great Coup of Spirit World, the leader of the Choas Bringers was able to influence some of the more bitter SDF of Spirit World to get into the vault. They retrieved the items and distributed them in the Human World.
Certain humans found these ancient artifacts. These objects have a bit of sentience, some a lot more than others. They want to be used and want to be near one another. Once their energy signatures started to show up on Spirit World's radar, Prince Koenma was notified. Horrified about the potential destruction that could be wrought on the worlds, Koenma called in one of his last resorts - Yusuke. However since the records of the objects were missing there wasn't much information that Koenma could give to Yusuke to help him find all of the objects before something bad happened. What he could tell them was what they were, that the holders of the objects would naturally come together in a relatively close proximity to each other once they started to use the objects, and that the human holders were in great danger because the more they used the object the tighter the bond between their soul and the artifact would become.
As Yusuke and his friends went in search of the items, Koenma launched a full scale investigation of the theft. He found some of the old SDF...but the strangest thing was that all of their memories of the actual event were fuzzy at best. Something other than treason was at work and that only instilled more fear in the young ruler.
_𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙨
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
 Paradox's Pearls are held within a hair pin. The Pearl of the Past allow you to see the history of an object or person within the user's mind's eye. The small Pearl of the Present lets the user slow down what is going on around them so that they can react faster than otherwise possible. And the Pearl of the Future let's the user see a possible future that their choice will bring about. The pearls store energy and when that energy is released, it allows the user to travel through time with general disastrous results. Thankfully the one who uses the Paradox Pearls become a fixed point in time and are otherwise not affected directly by changes to the timeline so long as they retain the item.
 Dimensional Dagger allows the holder to create holes in the dimension that they're in. These tears can be used like portals between all worlds. It can also be used to travel great distances within the same world. The back end of the dagger can seal the holes up behind the user. As they get stronger together, the greater distance that can be traveled and the faster a rip can be made or closed.
 The Fan of the Inferno looks like a harmless folding, metallic hand fan. When you look closer, however, you will see ghost flames looking back at you from within the metal. It can control any sort of heat which includes taking heat away from any area. The fan can also produce any type of flame as well as manipulate the flames that are produced by the fan. As the fan and the wielder get stronger together, the flames of the fan will be able to burn things that normal flames could not.
 Death's Pendulum is something that directly helped spirit world gain control in the early days. While in possession of this pendulum, the user can not only see ghosts despite their previous abilities but they can control them within a certain radius. As the user gets stronger and bonds with the pendulum they will even be able to imbue their own energy into the subjugated ghosts. This creates ghosts which can physically damage things in the living world. Eventually they will even be able to summon a spirit from wherever it is and either subjectate it or place it back in a functional body. With enough energy transference the user may even be able to reanimate dead corpses though they will retain any damage they would have had prior to reanimation. The stronger the user gets, the more spirits and corpses they can control at any one time.
 Sword of Vitality is an artifact which is one of those that comes with more sentience than others. There is an spirit possessing this sword to help guide the user of it for better for for worse. The sword itself is not affected by any conditions such a rust. Nor can it ever be broken. While in possession of the sword, the user will have increased physical stats such as strength, speed, and durability for example. They will also be able to heal from wounds at a much more rapid pace so long as they have spirit energy left.
 Bow of the Cosmos is a bow has a quiver which is filled with as many arrows as the current user can maintain with their spirit energy. Each arrow can be charged with all different types of natural elements - earth, fire, water, wind, lightning - as well as spirit energy. When fired from the bow, any projectile will follow the intended coarse of the arrow. As time goes on the user will be able to control the arrows fired while they are in mid air, their affects get stronger, the range of the arrows increase, and the amount of arrows able to be fired at any given time increases.
 Ring of the Spirits is a ring which covers from the base of the finger, all the way past the fingernail. It has the power to concentrate spirit energy into the form of any weapon that matches with the user's current style. As the user and weapon grow in power, the it can take the shape of other weapons or tools as the user needs. The stronger it gets, the quicker it can change and the larger the weapon it can become.

This is a literate roleplay. That does not mean that we will expect monster sized posts out of everyone. We just ask that you give a enough for other's to react to as well as respond to those characters around yours. For the posts themselves, we ask that you have three basic things in them aside from your writing - a picture of your character, the character's name, and a rough location for your character.

Our goal is to write together. Characters that would not work with another person, seek people out, or be recruited tend to be the ones isolated. Just keep that thought in mind while you make your character.

E Class- Normal humans, spiritually aware humans, abnormally potent humans, and the weakest of demons have. Lower E classes represent humans, while mid to upper E classes are the rest of the prior listed. This is the level where characters like Kuwabara was at, at the start of the series.Original Characters that are new to the concept of Demon World, Human World, and Spirit world will start here.
D Class- Only spiritually aware humans, and weak demons possess this class. The strongest psychics without training are this class. The lowest end of this is where Yusuke was at, at the start of the series. Original Characters that are experienced with the three worlds can start here.
C Class- Other than extremely rare cases, the only humans that can reach this class endure rigorous training along with their spiritual awareness. This is the level that Yusuke and Kuwabara were at, at the end of Genkai's Tournament. Original Characters who have had a few years of training can start here.
B Class- Other than Genkai and Toguro, each human that has reached this class underwent a spiritual metamorphosis, profound emotional turbulence, or had powers of this level from the start. This class is presumably the second largest class, when demons and humans enter it, an extremely overwhelming situation is required to push them further. Abilities truly begin to become impressive and exhilarating in this class. This is where Yusuke, Hiei, Kuwabara and the human form of Kurama were at during the Dark Tournament. Original Characters have been caped at B rank to start with unless it's already been discussed.
A Class - The only humans who have reached this class went through an overwhelming trauma, and leveled into this class to deal with it. Demons with this power do not reside in the Human or Spirit World. They are only of Demon World, and are either born with this power, or have acquired it through immense training. This is the second smallest class. Demons with this rank are typically far more intelligent than average humans as they would be centuries old. This is the level that Youko Kurama was at through most of the series and where characters like Hiei and the human form of Kurama stopped at. This is off limits to Original Characters at the start of the roleplay unless otherwise discussed.
S Class- This class is remarkably harder to reach than other classes, however, though the powers of A class were already so high, they are nothing compared to this rank. S class warriors are viewed as deities of destruction, and A classes are fodder to S classes. Characters like Yomi, Makuro, and Yusuke by the end of the series are in this class. This is off limits to Original Characters at the start of the roleplay unless they are the main villain.
