OOC INFOSome strange things have been happening around Destiny City recently, but that's to be expected. Only, some of them seem to be tied together... Quote: You’re an irritable, angry, aching mess by the time Halloween nears around the corner. The excitement of the approaching holiday is lost to you, as the lack of sleep and growing sores all over your body take focus….that is, until you notice a strange, odd glow in your possession. The business card that had come with the strange pumpkin has begun to glow and you feel yourself prompted to pull it out - you may have sworn you threw it away, you may have thought you had misplaced it but suddenly it’s there and a thin, gold line from the end of the store’s name begins to glide across the paper, directing you to the back of the card. As you watch with a mixture of curiosity and dread, the gold line begins to draw a pattern. It doesn’t take long for you to recognize what it’s drawing -- a map. But a map to where, exactly? You find yourself pulled in the direction the map leads, card clutched tightly in your hand…. DISPOSABLE INFORMATIONIf you are a new member of the shop and do not have a character in the shop, you can still participate in this event! Please fill out the following form and put it in a spoiler in your first post! Character’s name: Age: Appearance: Personality Traits: (list 2-4 virtues and an equal number of flaws; these can be one word descriptions of each trait and do not need explanation)

Your disposables will not need to die at the end of this, and if you choose to quest for them at some point in the future you can!
If you have any questions, please ask in the MQ&A or PM the mule!

The card leads you to the store in question, the same one you’d noticed before on the outskirts of the shopping district. As twilight has passed and the sun has set, the large letters of the sign Perniciousa are finally lit up, burning an ominous, fiery color. Below it, an equally concerning sign stating Grand Opening hangs underneath; you’re not sure how exactly the sign is being suspended but the door below the signage is open, the front of the store illuminated with what appears to be candle light and only candle light. Others are filing in to the building and the ominous aura that surrounds the location only grows stronger as the number of guests grow larger. You step inside and find yourself walking down a path guided by candles; clearly someone went to a great amount of trouble to set up this “grand” opening and the number of people in front and behind you has you being pushed towards the staircase leading to the basement, whether or not you want to end up there. Once downstairs, the only thing lighting the room is a strange, runic pattern on the floor. Its pattern is indiscernible as to the origin but the large circle on the old, creaky wooden floor seems to beckon everyone to stand around it, compelling you to move away if you were to stand atop any of its glowing lines. What on Earth could any of this mean? As you and the others gather in the large, eerie basement, the glowing cards illuminating in everyone’s hands suddenly catch fire. Keeping hold of it will result in singed fingertips, so you drop the card and watch as the community of flickers light up the wooden floorboard. The glowing rune laps up the fire, igniting the symbol. Heat rises and smoke begins to swirl - the door to the basement slams shut and a burst of wind ( where could it have come from?) collects the smoke, wiping the fire out. A low, gravelly hiss echoes through the room as you are left in the darkness and smoke. Quote: This event is for civilians only! You will not be able to power up at any point during this ORP!
If you have had your character involved in any of the specially marked 'Event Prompts', they all tie into this event! If you have not written for any of these prompts but want to participate in this event, you can! You can either backdate your character responding to the prompts or handwave that they happened!

Some aspects were definately abnormal. Jessie tried avoiding scratching the itches when she realized it lead to a sore, but she did own a cat, and always got strange scratches from the hazards of it, resulting in small, easily hidden sores that honestly made her stomach want to turn. Except she was prtetty much always hungry -- meat especially. This was far less abnormal. Sure, she was downing raw beef at times, but that wasn't as repulsive in her mind as say, raw pork or chicken, and dried meats were definately an acceptable compromise. So hey! Coping! No, oh no, it was the irritability people feared. Jessie was not normally a pleasant sort with others, but it had gotten bad enough syhe had tried to snap someone's wrist and really didn't try returning to the bar. In fact, she planned to find a new one, because not worth the risk was a good reason. The only reason she assumed things were fine before the physical signs... Well... That was from the nightmares. Sure, she was barely sleeping, but the nightmares werte memories she didn't want to relive, horrors she didn't detail to anyone, not even Owen. The only ones familiar or knew worse were her parents, and the woman was ruminating on if she could knock herself out, nightmares be damned, when the glow happened. Such an odd thing, that she did indeed fetch the card with the pumpkin, blinking at it changing. "...Huh." And, without questioning why, she began following the map, sliding into her pickup for it's Last Hurrah before the planned destruction of the abomination against her ego to follow the map. It was oidd- was it maguic like her and Owen? Was this a Very-- She parked, spying throngs of unpowered people, and frowned, staring at the sign. Really? A store?!What the ******** you assholes, are these Death Pumpkins or what the holy hell?!" Jessie snarled. NOW she was furious, moving to join the throngs moving to enter. Her gait was agitated, hostile, and above all... She looked ready, willing, and prepared to punch someone. Niceynice was over. Somebody was jerking her chain, while her poor dear mother was laid up with pnumonia in the thrice-damned hospital, letting the population suffer an abnormal condition? THERE WAS A WHIRLWIND TO REAP. SHE WAS GOING TO BE SUCH-- And then she eyed the candles. Oh, she was still angry, but the candles were an unsettling touch, leading her to the basement where she frowned, looking around. "Is thius a store, or the front for some ********' cult?" She asked, finally, sneering. "Because I'm not up to some kind of culty bullshiut tonight." Quote: Jessie's open if anyone minds a cranky sadomasochist who might chew people out.

Seren was exhausted, sick of feeling sick, and just about ready to call it quits on life, practically. The urge to never get out of bed again was strong, but at the same time, what good would it do her? She was not able to SLEEP anymore, it felt like, so why bother being in bed? She hated the sores, the constant itching, the greenish pallor, and the way her hair fell out if she scratched her scalp had her in a near tizzy of panic. That was her hair, the part of her that made her feel beautiful, and it took her so much work and she spent so much on it, too! To loose it might break something inside of her. She sighed, and began to move, when a glowing light caught her eyes. She blinked, looking around... And spotted her cute little ceramic Jack o'Lantern on her window. IT wasn't glowing, but the glow seemed to be coming from... halfway under it, and halfway next to it. She frowned deeply and walked over, wondering what the hell was going on. She stared down at it... And saw the business card that had come with it. "Didn't I throw you out...? And how in the hell are you glowing?" Her tone was irritable. And then the line at the end of the name of the business moved. "WHAT. THE. ********." She tried to convince herself to get rid of it, but the part of her that was morbidly fascinated by this insisted on turning it over in the direction the line had moved. And watching it make a map. "No. No way in hell am I going where a crazy map that suddenly, magically, appeared on a business card leads! No!" She was panicking, because instead of doing what she had decided, she found herself putting on her shoes, grabbing her purse, and GOING. She walked and walked, exhausted but unable to do much about it. When she ended up at the store, she glowered at it. This was all suspicious, and terrifying, and she wished Nate were here, and maybe some of her friends. But no, as far as she knew, no one she knew was here. And now she was basically being pushed inside, because... others were here. This place was creepy, with the candle lined path to the basement... And the ********' circle that looked like a cult's ritual site. "I just want to go home... Go home and SLEEP..." She whispered, trying not to cry. And then the door slammed, and a tear definitely escaped the terrified girl's eyes. Quote: Seren's open for RP. She's pretty vulnerable and freaked out right now. Rough treatment will have her either crumpling or trying to get away from the other person.

Kaileen looked down at the business card that she had received. It was a strange looking card. She woke up and found it on her bedroom dresser table. At first she thought that one of her brothers were playing some kind of weird prank or something but they claim to no not know what she was talking about.
In the back of the card was a map. A map that Kaileen was compred to follow. She stood outside of the shop. It has an grand opening sign. Not really a big deal or nothing new. There seemed to be a lot of new store opening up in Destiny City.
Kaileen stepped inside and looked around. There were candles everywhere. She found herself being pushed toward the basement.
"What in the world?"
Kaileen didn't know what to expect. She looked back at the card. It couldn't be a costume party because it never said anything of the sort. And no one else in the house/attic were in any costume of any sort.
Maybe it was one of those haunted houses that people like to put together. One of those scare houses.
Kaileen looked around ok sure she could get with with. She just didn't like someone jumping out at her.

Xanthus Growled into his palm in exhausted annoyance as he dragged a hand down his face as though he could aggressively wipe away the gluey, scratchy feeling of too little sleep and too much... too much something something pumpkin zombie bullshit. The last few nights had been -miserable-, and he was about ready to feed someone the decorative, smiling pumpkin that, god help him, he was starting to suspect was more of that special, Destiny City flavored Trouble, and god help him... if the negaverse was behind them he was going to gift wrap them and mail them to Ca... ... No he wasn't that far yet. Give it another night or two of not sleeping and carnivorous diet and he might be ready to hand people to an organ ripping warmonger and his make believe army, but he wasn't -quite- there yet. He was determined not to be there yet. He didn't like FEELING like this regardless, and wasn't sure what exactly it was. It didn't feel like having had his energy drained, not the 'normal' way anyway, it was more .... He didn't know. But emotionally he hadn't felt this constantly -angry- since he'd been Realgar, and he was determined to see it out one way or another before he did something that neither Xanthus Goldman or Kairatos couldn't take back. All that -without- the creepy rash or whatever that didn't seem to be going away, which at least didn't seem to have been passed to the cats but was it's own special hell. "....So what do you think, hon?" He asked, on another long, tired exhale as he tried to get a handle on the deliciously angry fantasy that involved slugging the next person that bumped into him in the kidneys. GOD he just wanted to -sleep-. Maybe after finding whoever was behind this shitty ghost hunting show s**t and shoving their head in a b.... .... bowl of candy corn. Yeah. Candy corn. Normally he'd have appreciated the set up, the candles, the hissing, the slamming doors... but he was tired, confused, and trying to decide if the ominous feeling was real and he should be prepared to throw actual punches, or if he just needed a nap. ---- Tarik Rashid sort of had to appreciate the person who was loudly complaining that this had better not be some sort of cult... not that he'd have been shouting that himself. Too undignified. Not enough coffee. Not that he wasn't used to long hours and grueling schedules, but between performance schedules, agent work (ugh), and then the sleep and the problem skin (which he was afraid to even consider putting concealer and had better clear up before he had to be on stage no matter how many appointments he had to make... this took the absolute cake. He'd almost wondered if this was some sort of odd joke from one of the higher ranked officers (He refused to call them 'superiors' if he could possibly avoid it...) with the curious little appearing map and the candles and this rather brilliantly executed little display. It would be nice if they could figure out how to capture some of the effect from the candles for a stage preformance, but he couldn't quite put a finger on how it worked for being exhausted. Wires and electric candles he supposed, those were... more realistic these days and less likely to cause an accident.... The slam of the door made him jump, which did, admittedly, make him feel more awake, albeit in a 'run like a small primal ancestral creature' sort of way. That same small primitive part of his brain suggested that small dark spaces would make an excellent spot to curl up and catch a few winks while he waited to find out of there were knife wielding hood wearing movie styled serial killers waiting in the wings. Get tired enough and you almost stopped carrying about that too, save for an fatigued, fed up feeling at the pure inconvenience of potentially being murdered. Who cared anyway, he'd already had his -soul- manhandled. How much worse could it be? Mass murdering cultists could at -least- be nice and give them a cup of coffee first, poisoned or otherwise. He'd even worn his best Halloween socks for the occasion, with tiny little pumpkins and bats. Not that you could see much of them under the cuffs of his comparatively immaculate suit. Exhaustion and magical Hogwarts style maps were not an excuse to dress poorly. NovaCracker 'Rik says 'mood' (Mentioned)

Alphonse was feeling more than a little sleep-deprived when the business card’s gilded lettering started to shine and weave before his eyes and, at first, he rightly thought he had been seeing things again. Ever since picking up that package that had mysteriously showed up on his dorm doorstep, he had barely gotten any sleep whatsoever. What little sleep he had managed to get over the past few nights had been filled with strange nightmares. Hadn’t the young man thrown the package away and the card that came with it too? Alphonse didn’t know what compelled him to followed the golden map on the back of the card so perhaps it was lack of sleep and its effect on his reasoning. All he knew was that it had led him to a shop that had never been there before. An oddly lit sign read Perniciousa. Whatever it was, tonight was the place’s grand opening. But why had the map only just appeared on the card now? As Alphonse flipped the little card back and forth in his hands, he wondered if he should enter. One thing was certain and that was that he wouldn’t be getting any sleep tonight no matter what he did. With one last curious glance at the card with the gold lettering, he threw it aside once more and, not certain it would not mysteriously find its way back to him, entered the candle lit shop. ✪

He’d have punched things, but he was too tired, and too sore and itchy to do that. At least when he was in uniform he could hide most of the sores. But, he couldn’t spend all of his time in uniform, at least, he kept telling himself that.
It was the glow that sparked him into further movement. Eyes narrowing he fumbled through his pockets till he pulled it out. Hadn’t he gotten rid of this thing? He hadn’t been that interested in the shop, the only reason he’d held onto the pumpkin was because he didn’t want accused of not doing anything for halloween, and now, this damn card was drawing… a map.
His jaw worked, and he closed his eyes taking in as deep a breath as he could stand before exhaling slowly.
At least he wasn’t the only one who was here, he wasn’t sure if that was interesting or frustrating. The fact this was on a larger scale and he didn’t immediately recognize any of the other faces, didn’t mean a great deal. He’d been gone for 5 something years. But strange things? that was just another day in the history of Destiny City.

Erich JägerErich didn't celebrate Halloween in the first place, so to be even more irritable during it without having to deal with just the "celebration" around the Holiday, well he was about as po'ed as one could be. Especially with so little sleep like he had been experience.
But just as he had been about to throw the pumpkin away, the business card that he had put on his fridge had started to glow, and eventually some sort of map was displayed on it. Erich was too tired to argue, and wanted to just end all of this, so he followed where the map was indicating. Or at least he started following it. He hoped that it would lead to someone that he could punch in the face. Repeatedly. Preferably while he was powered up and had the compass with him.
Eventually it led him to the store, and he didn't pay attention to anyone else who was going inside of it. He only knew that he was glad that it said "Grand Opening" on it, which meant that he might be able to punch someone in the face. Preferably the one in-charge. He followed the rest to the basement, his tired brain not putting up a fight against following the others and eventually he could see a glowing rune and sighed. "I wish this was just a video game. I'm expecting something to pop out any moment right now..." He muttered to himself and crossed his arms, trying to find a wall to lean against so that he could see what was happening.((Erich is open for interaction!))

Paris Gallo
“Someone needs to wipe this city off the face of the Earth,” Paris grumbled.
She didn’t mean it. Not really. (Okay, maybe she meant it a little.) Destiny City was her home. She’d lived here her entire life. It had to be worth saving. Most of the time, anyway. If it wasn’t, what the hell had she been doing these last… however many years? Eight? God, had it really been eight years? Where did all that time go? She was too young to have committed eight years of her life to the BS that often occurred in this city.
Yet there she was, at some weird shop because of some other weird object that was probably magical or contaminated with some dark force or whatever. Totally normal for Destiny City. She still remembered that Snowglobe incident back in 2010. What an awful night that was.
Honestly, she should have known better than to keep something she got in the mail with no explanation and no return address. She even looked this place up online and didn’t find anything. What kind of idiot was she that she still kept the pumpkin and the business card after that? Something was obviously going on. She didn’t usually have trouble sleeping, at least not like she had recently. Then there was all the itchiness and the scratching, and the sores up and down her arms and legs from the scratching. At least she managed not to scratch her scalp too much. She’d be miserable if she lost too much of her hair.
Worse, though, was that she’d been snapping at her kids and her husband. Those poor, innocent babies and her sweet, sweet Pooh Bear. That was just… not who she was. Sure, she was a b***h as a Senshi, but that was different. Almost everyone was a b***h as a Senshi. She was generally a sweet person otherwise.
“Seriously, whatever’s hissing needs to come out so I can kick its a**,” she said, hating the dark and the smoke and everything about the situation.Quote: Paris is open for interaction. I’m going to try to keep up, but I’ve got two kids to take care of and some figure skating to watch this weekend, so I can’t promise I won’t be slow. I also can’t promise I won’t flake out at some point. That’s life these days.

Rhiannon Beaumont
Veterinary school had been taking up most of her time in the past several months. Last couple years really. It had been a while she she had to deal with anything magical, but powering up also lead to a sense of dread. As much as she wanted to see that person, she knew he wouldn’t show up and she would be disappointed. And then she would worry that he might have been injured or killed, and that would lead to restless nights and irritated days.
In fact, she’d been more irritable than usual lately but not just about the elusive Dark Mirror Senshi. She blamed the sores on poison ivy that she must have had transferred to her from the animals she cared for, and the lack of sleep was just a bout of insomnia. Or at least that was what she’d hoped. Things seemed to click into place when she noticed the glowing card. She knew she should have ignored it, but somehow she ended up outside.
She tucked her hands under her arms, wishing she’d put on more than just a plush vest. As a senshi she barely noticed the cold, but as a normal civilian, the temperature had dropped faster than she’d realized. She’d dropped the card as soon as it caught fire, and when the door slammed shut and an irritated voice growled out threats, she realized she wasn’t in a room full of just strangers.
“Paris,” she said quietly as she stepped to where she’d heard the voice, reaching out to touch her cousin’s arm.

There was something magical stupid about this business card. The whole store was creepy. They were probably keeping youma down in the basement and were going to feed all the people who went in there to them.
Okay, the potential youma being in the basement was kind of cool, and would obviously have to be let out, but he wasn’t really wanting to see anyone get eaten.
Which was why Peter, annoyed from lack of sleep and against his better judgement, followed everyone down to the creepy basement. No youma immediately appeared, which was both disappointing and a relief. Maybe this was just some kind of elaborate Halloween hoax?
“Now is the part where some dude in a mask comes out with an unbladed chainsaw to scare us,” Peter said out loud, hands shoved into his coat pockets. He should have just powered up and gone looking for youma instead of letting his curiosity get the better of him.
Then again… Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back!

As the smoke forms, you feel your anger and irritation beginning to seep out of you. It’s as if the smoke is feeding off of your negative emotions - in fact, that’s exactly what it’s doing. The smoke began to take the form of a strange, ghastly creature. It swirled in an oozing, toxic fashion, twisting into something horrendous and terrifying. It towered above the heads of all those below it. It's face looked like a skull, with only the barest hints of rotten flesh clinging to it. It had the tattered mane of a once proud lion, and the body of something almost horse like. It's legs were like that of an eagle, with sharp talons on all four limbs, and it shifted positions as it formed--it could stand on two legs, or four. Its tail was long and spiraling, with barbs and spikes, and it twitched irritably behind it. With every drain of emotional energy the smoke absorbs, the creature becomes more and more tangible. Soon, the smoke has cleared altogether and the beast that stands before you leers with wide, gaping maw, created from all of the negative emotion that has been running rampant in the city for the past week. It observed the group below it with joltingly red eyes. For a moment, it stood on two legs, and then it dropped to four. Closer to the ground, to them, it watched. And then, it roared. The noise was so loud, so abysmal, it could immediately disorient. The effects lingered for only a few seconds to those furthest away, but to those unfortunate enough to be close to it, the noise all but deafened and dizzied them. Escape was no longer an option, so that really only leaves one choice. If you want to survive, you're going to have to defeat this monster.Quote: With something of this size, this nature, there's only so much you can do especially as a civilian...trying to attack it with only your bare hands would likely only lead to catastrophe. Thankfully, the room seems to yield a few options...Do you: Search the room for a weapon and try to attack up front? - Searching the room, you locate a few bits of stray debris, most notably a two and a half foot long metal bar. It is a bit heavy, but not more so than a sturdy baseball bat. A few of these are scattered around the room and are great to deal physical damage, but the downside is that you're probably going to have to get real close to whack this thing... and do you really want to deal with those talons?
Search the room and locate the shelves of strange, bottled liquids that can be thrown from a distance? - A wall of glass bottles, of all shapes and designs, lines the whole back wall. The liquid inside these bottles comes in all colors, and some bottles are more full than others. You can throw these from a distance, but you have no idea what these liquids are...or what they can do. Maybe they'll hurt the monster--or, maybe they'll help it. It's a risk, but at least you can take solace in the fact that it might get some glass shards stuck in it in the process.
Search the room and locate the loose, dangling wires that hang from the ceiling? - The room is dark, but you can clearly make out a few wires , easily an inch thick in some places, and up to three inches thick in others, that dangle haphazardly from the ceiling. It looks as though they might have been electrical, but the ends have been severed and there is no charge. If you tug on these, the ceiling seems to break away a bit. Pulling on enough of these might collapse the roof on top of the creature and make an opening to escape through--but you also risk collapsing it on yourself, as well. Is it worth the risk?
You will have ~24 hours to respond to this prompt before the next plot prompt is posted and, while you can only choose one option, you can continue to RP amongst yourselves after selecting your option. Attacking anything but the creature will not yield any results; there is still no escaping.
When making your decision, please red bold which option you are choosing in your post, and remember that your character cannot power up! And remember...once you make your decision, the creature may set its eyes on you...
[If the monster responds to your attack directly, you will be quoted, so keep your eyes peeled for that between now and the next prompt!]
Players are still free to enter the event, even if they missed the first prompts! You simply need to handwave that your character arrived with the group. You do not need to have actually completed any of the event prompts leading up to this event, but your character does need to have ICly obtained a card and should have handwaved the side effects if they are here. Alternatively, your character may have arrived with someone who had a card with the map, but at least someone in your party will have needed the card given out in the first prompt to gain entrance to the event. If you have any questions, please feel free to post in the MQ&A or PM the mule!

Toby had been having an off week.
Sleep had not been coming to him, and for a while, he was afraid he was turning into a frog somehow. He was looking a bit green, he thought, which is very...froggy.
But then the sores and things came up, and...
...Honestly, the weird card suddenly glowing out a map for him was almost a relief. Now he had a destination to shout his annoyance and anger at this whole mess at. Stupid pumpkin. Why was it so pretty? How dare it?
Kind of forgot to smash it as he left to follow that map.
Soon enough, the destination arrived (or something), and he found his way in, with other grouchy, sickly-looking people. Normally very cheery and ready to talk to everybody, Toby found he didn't really want to talk with anybody...not yet, anyway.
Still. He found himself swept up into the throng, and down in the basement. Gazing at the runes and such, he muttered, "Woah, spooky..." before snorting in annoyed derision at it.
Of course, the derision evaporated with a lot of other feelings, and he found himself gazing at a big, angry monster. "Uh-oh..."
In a snap decision, Toby decided to dash to some shelves, where he grabbed a likely looking dark potion bottle, and lobbed it as best he could toward the..ghost thing's head.
"Bad doggy!" he shouted. "No eating people!" Okay, so it didn't really look like a dog. But he wasn't rested well enough to come up with better things to shout at giant, angry, scary-looking maybe-Youmas.

Mathias had prepared for a LOT of things when he had followed the map on the card a ritual circle and, then, a sudden monster was not one of them. The sores and the aches and the nightmares and the anger he could deal with - the anger and aggression had served him well in the nights he couldn't sleep and had gone out looking for things to vent his frustrations on instead. But a monster - a literal DEMON of a thing, that shook him from his normally well adjusted center and made him grit his teeth. He began to look around for something that he could effectively hammer on the creature with.Getting up close and personal with that thing didn't phase him nearly as much as the ritualistic nature of this whole ordeal did. So he began to mutter under his breath. "Hail Mary full of Grace," he prayed frantically. "The Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen."Sirene Naiads Imara's husband be SHOOK.
