A maze made out of Haybales. A good place to sneak away for some privacy, or to test your navigational skills with friends.

        "A witty saying proves nothing"

I am here: A dead-end in the maze
With: No one

As Gabriel walked away from the carnival games, there was a war of emotions taking place in his chest. Anger and shame were the major armies, swirling around and wrecking havoc everywhere they touched. The girl's voice kept echoing in his head, "If I'm ever 'replaced' by anybody, it's because I wasn't good enough. I'd be happy that there was someone in the position who earned it. Maybe you should learn that too." She was almost right, in a sense. Gabriel's father's lessons came to his head, however, reminding him that when someone could do magic, they didn't have to work as hard as you.

Deeper down, however, a third army waged its own tiny war. Guilt. Gabriel was confused at the emotion, unsure what he had to be guilty about. Causing the creature to cry? It wasn't human, its feelings didn't matter. Gabriel's subconscious told him a different story, however, replaying the image of its orchid eyes filled with tears over and over again. Gabriel let out a sigh of frustration, running his hands through his hair. He pulled out a cigarette and lighter from his pockets, lighting it up and taking a deep drag, letting the smoke fill his lungs for a moment before exhaling. He knew that they were terrible for him, but the rush of the nicotine helped calm him down.

He smoked his cigarette as he and the Brads walked, ignoring their conversation and playing through in his head the altercation. The girl's words had cut deep, and while part of him wanted to dismiss it out of hand, he knew he shouldn't. If he ever wanted to grow as a person, as a knight, he had to listen to other people's view points, even if he didn't agree with them. He let out another sigh, finishing the last drag of his cigarette and crushing it under his shoe. He looked up for the first time since they had begun on their journey, realizing that his friends had led him to the hay maze. "Race through the maze?" Bradinton asked the group.
"Oh, you're so on," Gabriel said with a grin. A race was probably the best way to get his mind off of things.

And so the Brads took off, scattering to all edges of the hay maze. Gabriel took the first possible right, Chad following after him. Chad then took the next right, causing Gabriel to be by himself. He took the left, and then the mandatory right, took the next right, and then the next left. As he rounded the right hand corner, however, he discovered his mistake--it was a dead end. That didn't mean the race was lost, however--it just meant for now, he had to turn around.

Run! Faster than the wind
xxxxxAim! Farther than the skies

As she was able to wrap her head around his name. a subtle smile emerged on Kiaku's face. His tail swaying as he withheld his happiness over the small matter, he nodded. "Yep! I'm Kiaku," He told her as he tried to recall their exact position in relation to where his grandfather was. Calculating the distance and direction within his head, the boy began to clearly count out the numbers that were being factored into this with his fingers. His tongue sticking out from the side of his mouth as he was a bit lost in thought, it was obvious to anyone who passed by them that he wasn't all too there at the moment.

Unable to register everything that was going on around him as his brain put in the effort to figure out where his grandpa was waiting, the boy's tail began to droop. Unaware that his fellow hatchling was up to something, he began to scratch at the side of his spiky head. Turning to face Tana, he was greeted by her pounce. Finding himself on his back, his head lightly hit the ground. Barely feeling it, he was face to face with her. Unable to understand what she told him, his eyes grew wide as she pressed her forehead against his. Making a mad dash away from him, the boy was quick to jump back up. Noticing that a certain jingling noise was gone, he felt his side. She took grandpa's coin bag!

Giving chase after the girl, the boy didn't waste any time. His feet bouncing off the ground upon contact, his movements were almost like the wind its self as he tried to keep up. Moving from side to side each time he got a bit too close to someone, the boy was having a bit more fun with this than he wanted to admit with it. His tail swaying with each step, he ever slowly began to grin as he saw her jump onto a nearby stall. Turning his body, he forced himself to come to a skidding halt. Reaching the point where she jumped, he was quick to speed past the students who were near the stand, before very quickly climbing onto the very same booth she had to the owner's dismay and very obvious complaining.

Watching as she began to hop from booth to booth, he stepped back and immediately started to do the same. Feeling a rush as he found himself briefly soaring in the air with each jump, he tried to hold back an excited laugh. He was on a mission right now! He couldn't just be enjoying this like it was a game, right? It definitely felt like one to him though! "Tana, come back!" He called out as he found himself getting closer to that maze made from hay that was being set up rather recently. Unfortunately, she jumped into the maze before he could actually catch up. This was where things would shift into a much more interesting sport...

[Exit Vendors]

[Enter Hay Bale Maze]

Making a quick dash across the last roof, he jumped into the air in the last second. Unsure of what was in the maze, he was quick to curl up mid-jump. Performing a somersault in the air, he couldn't actually see what was in the maze where he was entering. Hitting the top section of the maze, he uncurled impulsively before kicking off of it. Hitting the lower part of the maze's parallel wall, he kicked off of that side as well before landing on his feet. Dusting his clothes off, he remained stationary before something hit him like a ton of bricks. It was this gross scent that was coming from just a few feet away. Turning his head towards the scent, he found the source of the disgusting smell.

To the side of him was a much taller black haired man, who was dressed rather nicely. Remaining quiet for a second, he realized the man was accidentally cornered within the maze thanks to him showing up. "Mister, have you seen a blue haired girl go by?" He didn't hesitate to ask, his childish nature kicking in. He was taught that people for the most part were willing to help one another, so he didn't think that this guy would be any bit mean. Sure, he smelled really bad, but that didn't mean he was a bad person. He just must've skipped taking a bath for a couple of days, then rolled in a campfire or something. "She'd be about...my height? I think...Oh! But she has a tail like me! And she has my grandpa's coin bag!" He went onto explain further, hoping that narrowed down the search. Having not seen most of the people attending the school yet, he had almost no idea what the normal appearances were. He had to try his best to make it easier for this guy to remember.

I have a lot I still need to accomplish. This is nothing.

I am here: maze
I am with: dragon girl
I feel: a little out of it, on edge

Lieu had been having some fun at the festival, but enjoying the activities alone got old rather quickly. She’d gotten her fill of food, not that she even needed to each much with the sun still out. The carnival games were . . . not super challenging. Lieu held a stuffed griffin by the paw as she wandered into the other areas of the festival. She eventually ended up at that hay maze. She frowned as she beheld it. She could easily fly over and solve it from above. But that was less . . . fun? Lieu did not need to triumph over her fellow students. She just . . . needed to enjoy herself. A foreign concept, sure, but one she’d been eager to try out once her Empress told her she’d be leaving for this country.

Lieu was about to enter the maze via its normal entrance when a kid went flying by, diving into the maze from some above. Not too long later, a young boy ran in as well, jumping over the walls rather than use the entrance. Was . . . breaking the rules of the maze that much more fun? Limiting oneself to add to the challenge made it more fun, but she supposed cheating might be appealing to younger kids. Speaking of them . . .

It took Lieu a moment to realize that they’d both been dragons. Or well, she’d noticed it right off the bat. But it’d taken her a moment to remember that that was supposed to be unusual in Aeston. Perhaps she could investigate? Her Empress had asked her to keep an eye out for anything usual while she was here. Lieu wasn’t sure that those kids counted, but it wasn’t like she had anything better to do. She would, take the normal entrance though. And track them down. It was an excuse to enter the maze, and an added challenge to make things more fun. Plus, it wasn’t like she couldn’t fly after them if they got out before she found them. Or even just track them down later. They'd both looked kinda young, especially the boy, but it was hard to imagine they'd be at the festival if they weren't staying at the school. Or at least in Silverkeep.

Her mind made up, Lieu headed into the maze. The branching paths were . . . a little intimidating actually. She knew it was supposed to be fun, but she felt pressured to choose the correct path. Lieu did her best to not think and just pick a path. Her grip tightened on the griffin somewhat as she tried to remember that she was supposed to be enjoying herself while investigating those kids. Flashes of some of the “assignments” her father had sent her on came to her as she made her way around corners and down narrow paths at an increasing pace. She was panting heavily and clutching her head when she stumbled into the same part of the maze as the dragon girl. [”You . . .”] Right, what was she doing again? [”Where are you from?”] The girl didn’t smell like her home. Lieu was curious. Not in her best state of mind, she didn't think to speak in Aestonian, and asked her question in her native language, Drapponian.

Tana
Dragon child

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The hatchling swiftly landed on her hands and feet on the dirty floor. She kept still as stone for a moment as she listened carefully for her friend. She raised her head, when she heard his voice at last. She wore a grin from ear to ear and her body giddily shook. Her game was a success! Now she had to make it last. Her gaze quickly scanned her surroundings. Dried golden plants stacked in large squares on top of one another formed tall hallways. So flammable. She moved quietly, low to the ground to make as little noise as possible. Not even the coins in the pouch made a sound. She was so excited that her hair began to give a faint glow.

She had been so focused on her friend’s whereabouts that she wa oblivious to the stranger that approached. Tana froze upon hearing an unfamilar voice, but the language was what startled her the most. Her eyes drifted over to the girl who was the source of the sound. The bag of coins fell from her mouth as her jaw startled to drop down. The coins let out a crisp chime upon impact, yet the hatchling was too entranced to notice. Tana could not recall the last time she heard another speak her native tongue. Grant spoke to her, but those who don’t have the proper vocal cords can only mimic the words, and butcher the sound. When the girl spoke the words were as clear as a song. Though some of the words seemed different from her version of the language as was able to understand enough to know what the girl was saying.

The hatchling cautiously moved closer to the girl and examined her scent. It was different like the kiaku’s scent, and very different from the dragons in her tribe. She looked up to the girl with wide curious crimson eyes, [“Y-y-you can-…you speak…you’re-”] Tana paused as warm joyous feeling began to softened her expresion. So entranced at the language the hatchling took a moment to process what she really said, [“I’m from…-?!...Ah…”] The hatchling became oddly confused. She remembered bits and pieces of her homeland, but nothing concrete to point out on a map. Even if she knew more the hatchling never learned where exactly her home was on the globe. She had never thought of leaving her home. Nor did anyone else in her tribe, [“I don’t’ know, I’m not from here-My friend, he told me to stay here at “school”. He said it is safe for me here...”] She honestly replied with no hesitation. She had no reason to lie. She winced softly as she felt an odd pain strike her mind; she pressed her hand on her head till the pain subsided. This often happened whenever she tried to recall parts of her past that were hazy.

The hatchling suddenly snapped to action when she remembered she was in the middle of a game with her new friend. A quick recovery, [“Ah, the game!”] She looked back to the coin bag on the ground behind her, and quickly scurried over to retrieve it from the cold ground. She looked back to the girl with a beaming gaze as she scooped the coin bag up with her hands. Her tail wagged when the coins jingled in the pouch,[“ We can’t talk so loud or else my friend will find us!”] She said with a childish smile as she spoke softly and moved closer to the girl with an excited giggle, [“Oh, my name is Tana!”] She said with a smile as she remembered to introduce herself.

I have a lot I still need to accomplish. This is nothing.

I am here: maze
I am with: Tana
I feel: uncomfortable, claustrophobic

Lieu noticed immediately that she’d startled the girl. She backed away slightly, not sure how to make herself look less intimidating. She was kind of a mess at the moment. The girl moved closer though, curiosity shining in her eyes. Lieu remained still as the girl sniffed at her a bit, before eventually speaking. She knew Drapponian. Though . . . her dialect was kind of weird. Not enough where they couldn’t understand each other, though.

Curiosity settling her nerves somewhat, Lieu listened to her talk, going from surprise that someone else was speaking her language, to confusion over where she was from. Apparently she was at the school due to its safety. She pressed a hand to her head as she tried to remember. Lieu was a little concerned for her, but decided pressing for details might not be the best move here. She knew painful memories well enough. Lieu smiled at the girl as she responded, [“I’m here for a similar reason, actually. Aeston isn’t all that dangerous, compared to my home.”] Right, home. Lieu did her best not to let her thoughts linger there. Talking with this girl was helping distract her a little, but navigating this maze still but her on edge.

The girl was playing some sort of game apparently. Hide and seek, it seemed. Her friend, probably the dragon boy she’d seen, was trying to find her. Though, something wasn’t quite adding up here. She showed a bag of coins when she mentioned the game. Was she hiding money from the boy as part of the game? While she was thinking that one over, the girl introduced herself as Tana. Keeping her voice somewhat low due to the girl’s request, she responded, [“Nice to meet you Tana. My name is Lieu. Is that money you have part of the game? Is it yours, or does it belong to your friend?”] She’d seemed surprised to hear someone speaking Drapponian. There might have been some sort of misunderstanding here. Lieu was just hoping it belonged to one of them and they hadn’t stolen it from someone else.

As for playing along with the game further than keeping her voice down, [“Also, I’m sorry but I don’t have an interest in this game. The maze . . . makes me kind of uncomfortable.”] With her conversation to focus on, Lieu had calmed down a little, but if she switched her focus to trying to hide in the maze, she didn’t think she’d have a good time. She was mildly tempted to just jump the wall like the boy had done, but she didn’t to give Tana’s position away. Despite her lack of interest in the game, she didn’t want to ruin it for Tana.

        "A witty saying proves nothing"

I am here: Hay Bale Maze
With: Kiaku

Gabriel had started to turn around to find another route out of the maze when he saw a small figure do an amazing feat of acrobatics into the maze. Gabriel was amazed for a moment at the athleticism of the person before he saw the green tail sprouting from their back. Of course, an inhuman showing off, he scoffed in his head, pivoting on his heel to turn away from the creature. Only, that way was a dead end. Gabriel had no choice but to interact with the lizard. Clenching his teeth, Gabriel turned back around and the little lizard asked him a question: had he seen a blue haired girl?

A...child? Gabriel blinked. The lizard's voice was high pitched, but not in the same way the flower bug's was. He was looking at a child...whatever it was. Dragon, perhaps? Gabriel remained silent as the child continued to explain his friend, that she was similar in height and also had a tail. Inwardly, Gabriel groaned. Of course there would be another lizard somewhere in the maze. And this young one wanted him to help find it.

He was about to tell the creature to buzz off when an image of two pairs of eyes flashed in his head: orchid ones, full of tears, and blue ones full of righteous fury. He looked down at the lizard in front of him and sighed. If it really was a dragon, it wasn't something he wanted to make an enemy of. Gabriel had heard stories of dragons from his father--that they were incredible forces of nature, and making an enemy out of one could result in death. So instead, Gabriel adopted the air of cold indifference than outright hate.
"I haven't seen a blue haired girl. Now, can you move please?" he responded, giving the lizard an intense gaze he hoped would display the idea that if it didn't move, Gabriel would move it.

Tana
Dragon child

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For a moment Tana had thought the girl had escaped from a similar place that she had been held captive in only until the girl had mentioned it was her own home that she escaped from. The hatchling seemed quiet as she tried to think back. Though she could not remember much of her home, she did not think her home was a bad place. She missed the seasons and her family. From what she could remember it was a very tranquil place. Her gaze grew wide when she learned the name of this land, [“This land is called Aeston?....”] She said as she looked up toward the sky, and wondered how far her home was from Aeston. She looked back to the girl with more questions lingering behind her eyes. She wondered what kind of terrible thing could make the girl’s home dangerous, [ “Is your tribe ok?”] Tana asked as she looked up with a concerned expression on her little face. She was a little curious to know if there were other tribes too and what type of dragon tribes inhabited in these lands.

She happily wagged her tail when the introduction went so smoothly compared to the painfully slow introduction with her friend Kiaku, [“Nice to meet you too, Lieu!”] Tana looked down to the bag in her hands when Lieu mentioned and she learned a new word too, [“Money?...No,It’s him; I’m going to give it back. I wanted to play a game with him,-but he doesn’t speak our language. So this was the only way to start the game. It is odd; he does not know our language. He smells like us, but he’s different. Well, you smell different too…”] Tana did not think to add that the difference she mentioned was that they were not the same type of dragon or nothing like the dragons in her tribe. She curiously sniffed the air, wondering if her nose would detect the scent of other dragons, but there were too many unfamiliar smells lurking for her to sifter anything out. Though the thought of being surrounded by some many unfamiliar dragons was a little unsettling.

The Hatchling frowned when Lieu said she would not join the game, yet a little confused when she said the maze made her uncomfortable. Maze, another new word,[“Maze is uncomfortable?”] The hatchling examined her surroundings; her inquisitive crimson gaze scaled the walls. She wondered if this maze was a bad place to make a dragon feel uncomfortable, [“I-is this place bad?”] Tana said with a light growl, and a ribbon of smoke slithering from her lips. She could not understand why such a flimsy place could be to bad but she was ready to burn the whole place to the ground.

His elder finally turning to him, Kiaku stood firm. Both feet planted in the ground, his eyes shimmered with youthful optimism. Unable to pick up the awkwardness in the air, he awaited the stinky man's response with an other worldy patience that no normal child would display to his elders. Course, he was the one who had asked the question at hand, so he needed to be smart about it.

By the time he finally got an answer, the man seemed rather blunt and somewhat upset. His answer was dissatisfactory, but the way he answered did come off as off. Perhaps something was wrong? Looking at him for a solid minute, he didn't budge as his brain tried to come up with a possibility. His emerald green eyes looking into the elder's, his tail slowly began to sway.

It was then that something hit him! A possibility that was so obvious that he didn't even consider. It explained everything! The terrible smell, his unpleasant look, and made way too much sense for it not to be it. Wearing a proud smile, he nodded. "I get it now! You need to use the dunny! Is that right, Mister?" He asked, trying to confirm that he was indeed right. Course, being unaware of the hostility in his heart, it was somewhat a natural assumption for a child not used to the idea.

Lieu blinked, staring blankly at the girl for a moment. Did she not know where she was? [“Uh, yes. Well, we’re in the city of Silverkeep specifically, but this country is called Aeston.”] She was tempted to name the academy as well, but didn’t want to assume that the girl knew nothing at all. It might come off as a bit condescending.

Her next question caught Lieu off guard a little as well. Her tribe? The word tribe made her think of the solar dragons, though she supposed the nobility of Fengbao was more along the lines of what she meant. [“Uh,”] How did she explain? She didn’t want to get into all the gritty details, but it was kind of a complicated answer. She supposed she could oversimplify though. She was just a kid. Hopefully any answer would be fine. [“I’m uh, not in good standing with my tribe at the moment. They are fine though.”] That was leaving out a lot, but that was probably for the best.

Lieu smiled as she noticed Tana’s tail wagging happily. Finding someone she could talk to must have been a huge relief for her. It turned into a bit of a frown as Tana explained the game. She had stolen that poor boy’s money. [“Ah, maybe we should find him and give it back then. I speak Aestonian fairly well. I wouldn’t mind interpreting for you.”] Er, maybe that was a bit much to offer. Though, she would feel kind of bad leaving Tana by herself without anyone who spoke Drapponian. Hanging out with her wouldn’t be too bad. [“I’m sure he’ll be willing to play once he knows what’s going on.”]

As for smells, Lieu’s nose wasn’t too impressive compared to some of the other types of dragon. [“Oh, I wouldn’t know. My nose probably isn’t as good as yours. I’m a solar dragon, by the way.”] Her nose and ears weren’t anything special, but her eyesight and the other senses her powers granted her made up for it. She could sense a couple of faint electrical signatures around her, but it wasn’t really enough to pinpoint anyone’s location.

Lieu smiled reassuringly as Tana began worrying about the maze being a bad place. She supposed that was a careless comment? [“Ah no, I’m just . . . not good with small places like this.”] The smoke coming out of her mouth was a little concerning. Was she that on edge already? Lieu added, [“If you’re having fun in here, then it is a good place.”]

I am here: Hay bale maze
With: Kiaku

Gabriel was surprised at the amount of patience the young lizard seemed to have while waiting for him to answer. It was obviously buzzing with energy, its eyes lit up and shining. When Gabriel gave it his answer, that he didn't know where its blue haired friend was, it simply sat there for a moment, staring at him. Gabriel's brow furrowed, and he nearly took a step back, growing unsettled. Was the lizard thinking of eating him? Gabriel was about to make a break for it when the lizard spoke. Gabriel's eyes narrowed, his head tilted, and his lips pursed.

"What?" Gabriel managed to get out, his hostility forgotten in his confusion. "What the ******** is a dunny?" he clarified, staring at the lizard as though it had escaped from the insane asylum. Gabriel wracked through the phrase in his head, trying to figure out what the creature could be asking. Was it asking if Gabriel needed to use the bathroom? And if it thought that, why hadn't it moved out of Gabriel's way?

Shaking the thoughts from his mind, Gabriel decided that he was going to make good on his earlier, unsaid threat. He took a step forward to the lizard, gently shoving it aside.
"Out of the way, kid. I have better things to do than listen to you spout nonsense," he growled, acutely aware of the time he had lost talking to the creature.

Blissfully unaware of the worry of predation the man was experiencing, the boy wore a somewhat excited look on his face. His tail swaying back and forth, it was obvious to anyone who knew about reptile or bird behaviors as to why he could think this. However, his reaction didn't exactly please the boy. There was a word thrown into the mix he didn't recognize, but he at least could tell that he was growing irritated. Yeah, he definitely had a big load he needed to drop, huh?

As the man began to storm off, he looked down as his hand as he got ready to push him away. This was the first mistake he had made. Before the hand could connect, he grabbed onto the man's wrist with one hand. The other hand placed on his forearm, he impulsively turned away from the larger adult and lifted him over his shoulder. Releasing his hold on him, his eyes grew wide as he watched the man go flying into the dead end of hay bales.

Freezing upon realizing what he did, his tail drooped and hit the dirt floor. Approaching him, he was slow and hesitant. "I'm sorry Mister. Are you okay?" He asked innocently, before his brain registered the worst possible outcome. Tensing up at the thought, he looked him over before letting the foolish question out. "You didn't poop yourself, did you?" He asked, his concern obvious as he pinched his nose. This guy smelled really bad, so that must've been the case.

The hatchling listened carefully to her words, she was happy to learn new things, [“City Silverkeep….Country Aeston…”] Tana softly repeated the words under her breath as if she were marking the words in her mind as if she were about to take a quiz. The hatchling lived on an island, there were no cities. Tana never new the names of the places they visit, she was too on edge to really absorb new information or Grant was just too busy to tell her, [“There is so much I want to know….will this ‘school’ really teach me more?”] Tana curiously asked with a small flick of the end of her tail.

The hatchling released a small gasp as she unconsciously tightened her grip on the coin bag when Lieu spoke about her tribe. Such a terrible thing to happen! The glow in her hair dimmed with the alarming news. She might have misunderstood Lieu’s words into something more serious then she said truly said. The thought of being banished made her stomach turn,[ “Y-you weren’t banished, right? Can you see your family?!”] The hatchling asked in a soft concerned voice as if Lieu had told her a spooky ghost story. The hatchling was nowhere near her home, yet she was sure when she finally got there she would be welcomed with love by her family.

The Hatchling struggled a moment with words she was not familiar with, her gaze sparkled with awe,[“A ‘solar’ dragon? I’ve never heard of those. Can 'solar' dragons live on the sun? I only know about or been around fire dragons…”] Tana said as she did her best to repeat the new words properly. She wondered what kind of dragon Kiaku was. She also wondered if the adults in her tribe knew there were other types of dragons.

Tana looked to the bag in her hands again, she loosened her grasp on the pouch after the small shook. A few of the coins inside may have been bent out of shape with her grasp. She would bend them back if it was a problem, but she did not consider the shape of shiny metal all that important. Yet the hatchling failed to realize her tactic was stealing and wrong. Her tail gave a slight wag when Lieu said she would help her communicate with her new friend. She had so many questions and wanted to thank him for the food- and tell him it’s not polite to touch her tail without asking, [“Wow, thank you so much! Yeah, lets find him!”] Tana happily smiled, excited to find her friend and learn more about him or what other games they could play.

[“Oh, ok”] Tana was a little relived to know the maze was not a bad place. Yet she was surprised to meet a claustrophobic dragon, she had never heard of such a thing. [“He’s…”] Tana paused as she sniffed the air, before she quickly turned like an arrow on a compass, [“This way!”] She said with a smile as she aimed herself in the right direction. The hatchling remained on two legs, more comfortable on her neck when speaking with those who walked on two legs.

I have a lot I still need to accomplish. This is nothing.

I am here:

Lieu smiled a little as Tana tried to remember what she’d been told about where they were. She seemed to understand pretty well, so Lieu wasn’t sure why she hadn’t known up until this point. She seemed pretty interested in learning, even asking about the school. Ah, so she did know that word. [”Yes. That is the whole purpose of school, actually. It is a place for learning new things.”] Tana didn’t seem like the type who’d enjoy homework, but she’d definitely be able to learn a lot here.

Lieu frowned a little as Tana grew even more worried over the answer she’d given her. She wasn’t banished, of course, but there really wasn’t an easy way to put it. She didn’t want to lie, either. She answered, [”Ah, I guess I didn’t phrase that correctly. It is my tribe that is not in good standing with me. I left of my own volition, and I will return when I am strong enough to lead them myself.”] Well, Lieu hadn’t quite decided on that yet. But she would accept any and all challenges to her birthright before making her choice. Er, adoptionright? She wondered if it was too much information to be sharing, but at the same time, she didn't want Tana pitying her.

Lieu frowned a little when Tana mentioned she’d never heard of the solar dragons, and only had been around fire dragons. [”Solar dragons maintain the barrier of storms around Tianti Yaolan. We don’t live on the sun, but we do absorb sunlight and use it as energy. Ah, I should add that the solar dragons are not my tribe. I live in Fēngbào, and was adopted by the Lord of Storms.”] Lieu casually threw around the names and places of her home country, assuming that Tana must have been from there if she spoke the language. Lieu was assuming she just didn't remember exactly where. Maybe she could jog her memory, [”Are you from Huǒshān?”] It was pretty warm over there with the volcano and whatnot. Lieu was pretty sure there were some fire dragons around those parts.

Ah, offering her translation services had been the right choice after all. Tana seemed really excited. Lieu couldn’t help but smile at her reaction. With that, and learning that the maze wasn’t a bad place after all, she was quick to began searching him out. Lieu was tempted to hop the maze walls, but Tana was acting like she knew where she was going. Lieu followed her, keeping her eyes skyward. While the hay walls were narrow, there was nothing keeping her from the sky. Well, social convention maybe. Transforming into her dragon form in a crowded area was impolite. But well, it was still a comforting thought.

        "A witty saying proves nothing"

I am here: Hay Bale Maze
With: Kiaku

Before Gabriel's hand even made contact with the little lizard's chest, he felt pressure on his wrist. Confused, Gabriel started to turn his head as a second pressure was felt on his elbow. What...? Gabriel thought as the lizard lifted him up and flung him over its shoulder. He flew through the air and landed with a hard thud exactly where he had just come from. He lay on the floor for a minute, winded and amazed. He was a good two feet taller than the small lizard, yet it had managed to throw him over its shoulder. It had to have been incredibly strong to do that, especially at such a young age. Gabriel shuddered to think of how much power the monster would have as it grew older.

Gabriel was about to sit up when he noticed the lizard's face looming over him. Pensive, it asked if he was okay. Gabriel's vision flashed red for a moment, anger filling the place where shock had been a moment before. It was only made worse by the creature asking if he had pooped himself, holding its nose.
"What is with you and defecation?!" Gabriel yelled at the lizard, his cool thoroughly lost. He wrenched himself off the ground, dusted off his clothes, and arranged his hair. I am not in the mood to deal with this bullshit, Gabriel thought, reaching into his pocket and taking out another cigarette.

Gabriel lit the cigarette, took a deep drag, and felt the calming wave of nicotine overcome him. He savored the feeling for a moment, his eyes shut tight. When he opened them again, his logic returned. They were in a hay bale maze. Hay was extremely flammable, and he had just lit something on fire inside it.
"Ah, what a waste," he grumbled, taking one last drag of the cigarette before smashing it under his heel. He then turned back to the lizard, desperate to make one more polite attempt at making it go away. "Can you please get out of my way. I'm trying to win a race against my friends and you're making me lose time," he grumbled. Hopefully the lizard child understood the concept of a race, and that would make it let him leave. If not, Gabriel was going to start knocking over hay bales.
