Personality |
- Her personality is quite similar to a wild puppy; she's very loving around those who show her kindness as well as making friends. The quickest way to be her friend is to give her some food. She loves to learn, and try new things. And just like a puppy she is loyal, sweet, and always hungry. She also relies heavily upon animal instincts and will not hesitate to attack if provoked. She cannot speak English, she is partly fluent in dragonic dialect, but she is willing to learn to speak English.
History |
Tana or also known as subject 718 by the scientists that experimented on the little dragon cannot recall much of her past. Most of her memories were damaged by the various tests that the scientists put her through and she had no grasp of time that had past while she was inside the facility. She was able to spend a good seven years of a somewhat peaceful life in her dragon tribe with her parents. Those seven years seems like a brief moment compared to the countless long days she spent in the labs. Tana was born in a tribe of fire dragons that stuck to old traditions.
Her tribe preferred to live apart from the outside world; their whereabouts are even unknown to the dragon nation, as they prefer to keep true to old traditions that would have been long forgotten in today’s world. There also seemed to be a mild hatred for the royal dragon family that Tana never quite understood. Tana’s close family consists of her mother, father and older brother. She only remembers the land she lived on was a large island that was veiled by all four seasons in certain areas of the island all year around. The area her tribe resided between the spring and summer zones. She lived in a very sunny area with lots of active volcanoes beside a small oasis. There was a small human village that also resided at outskirts of their turf that dragons protected so that they can have some contact with the outside world. Currently, She thinks little of her homelands or family; she hardly remembers what her folks look like and thinks ever lesser of all the bad that has happened to her at the lab facility.
Tana and her brother were both brought into this world at the same time, sleeping within their cozy shells, the two eggs nestles close in a warm nest seeking nurturing visits from their parents as they waited for the day when they were ready to hatch. Though her brother hatched before her, and Tana remained developing in her egg for quite some time. It was not uncommon, but the dragons in Tana’s tribe had unusual egg life spans, they are unsure themselves as to why it is that way. Some of the elders believed that the eggs hatch when they feel they are needed, or something miraculous like that, but there was no proof.
Some nights when her mother was not around to guard the nest, Tana’s brother who excitedly waited for his sibling to hatch watched the nest, talking and sharing his warmth- though he would not last throughout the night and fall asleep on his guard duties. Thought little Tana never felt alone, there was always another watching and talking to her. Some might think of them as stars, but a few of those twinkling lights in the sky where more then just shining lights, sentient creatures that keep infants or those that were not born company throughout the night. They found great joy in conversing with all developing creatures no matter how strange the conversation; they grew to know the beings they spoke so much better then the creatures themselves or even close friends and family. Of course once the creatures were born they almost always had no recollection of talking to some being in the sky. There was one star that spoke to Tana often; it would visit many other creatures, though it took a liking to Tana’s chats, her loving personality, and hearing about her dreams.
Though one night, when her brother had fallen asleep, a sleazy egg predator slinked into the nest. A lizard like pest known well to that region, called Baldontsk normally preys on smaller eggs, but a dragon’s eggs were a more desired rare treat. Tana’s unprotected egg was too hard to ignore. With black scaled body, emerald serpent gaze and two sharp poisonous blue fangs it crept onto the egg. The star took notice to the situation as it heard Tana’s cries for help. The Baldontsk drove its blue fangs into the egg, striking repeatedly before piercing through the tough shell and injected poison inside. The star grew anxious as it simply listened to Tana’s voice grow quiet as the poison took over. The star mustered all the strength it had, manifesting a portion of its energy in a tangible humanoid form inside the nest and the lizard instinctively scurried away, but the poison still remained. The star could not stand to listen to Tana’s voice disappear as it already began to grow so faint. It chose to use the energy that gave it form and speech to extend her life. Neutralizing the poison and sealed the punctured shell with its searing hot star fire, leaving a blue mark on her shell. The star now watches over her, night and day with no words to reach her but feels all that she does through an unbreakable bound.
The moment Tana hatched from her egg, she received nothing but warmth and love from her parents. Having a hatchling is a big deal in the tribe, due to the limited territory and food source, the dragons could not breed as they pleased and wait their turns in a long list to keep the ecosystem in balance. Though, One day she changed to her human form for the first time in front of her mother. She received a horrified look due to the fact Tana's hair was mostly blue, an unpleasant side effect from the Baldontsk’s blue venom. It happened quite often. There is a saddening tradition in the tribe that hatchlings born with mostly blue hair would live out their lives as sacred priestess in the fire temple near their home. With no contact with their loved ones. The Elders believed they were closer to the deity. They were called Dragon Child.
Her mother did not have the heart to give Tana away, she forbid her from taking human form within the tribe and to show no one. Tana did as she was told though she was picked on by other hatchling for not being about to change form, considered weak though Tana was always willing to prove them wrong in a test of strength. The only time she was allowed to change form was when she accompanied her mother to the human village to give resources and trade to keep a healthy relationship between the two strong and so the humans would keep the existence of the dragon tribe a secret. Tana enjoyed playing with the human children, as they were much kinder then the hatchlings back home, but they were also too delicate for her to have any real fun with.
The items the dragons gave the human's had attracted the attention to unwanted outsiders, the lab facility interest especially. One night, Tana accidentally showed her human from to her father and brother. Her Father also gave her a horrified expression, and her brother seemed pleased. Though unlike her mother, Tana's father was willing to give them his precious child. He had to, it would have been an insult to all the other dragons that had to give away their precious hatchlings. It is a bad omen to keep a Dragon Child from the temple, and tainted their purity. The had to be sacrificed Her brother called for their mother while her father attacked when she resisted in defense.
Her father bore his teeth into her sides, her mother saved Tana in time. Weak, confused, and terrified she watched her parents fight over the hatchling's life. In her attempts to retreat to safety Tana's father broke from the battle and attacked Tana once again. With his massive talons cutting her back with a grave wound, and before he could deal the finishing blow, her mother countered, losing her right eye in the process as Tana began to lose consciousness and fell into a river that flowed away from the tribe. She witnessed what she believes to be the end of her parents as she drifted down stream where she was discovered by researchers from the labs. She awoke in a strange place with unfamiliar scents and faces. The scientists took her for research purposes, to advance weapons and medicine; or make a name for themselves.
The lab faculty existence was kept secret from public eye and only a handful of actually knew of its existence. The public would probably revolt if they learned about the horrible tests they did within the facility. While Tana remained inside faculties she was allowed to practice her fire abilities for the scientist to examine and though she secretly wanted to hone her skills to escape. Since the scientist never educated her she could only communicate through body language and changing the color of either the smoke or fire from her that come out from her mouth. She never dared to speak in her native tongue around them either. Tana had made many attempts to break out on her own but each attempt failed; the scientists would always have something stronger and meaner waiting to stop her. They also preferred that she remain in human form so they punished her greatly for trying to transform and even worse for escaping. So Tana behaved herself until she saw her next chance to escape. Tana began to grow a small fear of transforming as well; they were not shy to inflict great pain on the hatchling.
One day, a boy named Grans who proclaimed he was her childhood friend broke into the lab and rescued Tana. She had no recollection of ever meeting him with her hazy memory, though she was still overjoyed that this ‘friend’ came to her rescue. While on the run from the Lab’s skilled asset retrieval seemed close at their heels. The two were on the run for three rigorous weeks, it seemed the lab had lost their trial for the time being and Grans brought her to the school. He figured the she could blend in with the many faces and acquire the proper education she was deprived of. He planned to leave her there until he lost the retrieval unit and knew that the lab was no longer looking for Tana.
Now, Tana is obediently awaiting Grans return and doing her best not to attract attention from the lab. Despite being nervous of her new surroundings she is curious to learn and make new friends as she was promised by her friend if she stayed at the school.
