The Gaia Terms of Service trump anything we say here, and honestly include most of our guidelines. If your posts won’t get you banned from the site, there’s a good chance they won’t get you banned from the RP.
We aren’t big on forcing literacy, but I guess you could call this a semi-lit RP. We really don't want anything less than two paragraphs per post. We'd like to see some effort put into grammar and spelling as well. Third person only for posts, though first person is fine in your profiles if you want. Anyways, let us know what a character thinks and sees. If you’re bored because your character is bored because there’s nothing to do, get creative and make something to do. Don’t waste a post by giving it no content.
On that note, frequency. There’s no real time limit for getting posts out, but ideally we are looking for a comfortable pace where everyone is able to post every couple of days. If you're gonna take more than a week to post, we'll likely skip over you. If we have reason to believe you've died, we will move your profile to a trash subforum. You're welcome to come back, but you can expect to get the boot if you do this more than once. You also need to stay active with all your characters. You don't need to have them all out and interacting at the same time all the time, but if they don't show up now and again, why do you have them? We also have a soft limit of four characters per person, and a hard limit of six, which is higher than we think anyone should go. Until you've shown you can handle six, and until we think it'd be healthy for the rp for one person to have that many characters, expect four to be your limit. Recurring NPCs and such don't count, so long they don't start becoming their own characters.
Pretty post layouts aren’t required, but having the characters name and picture are a must. Speaking of pictures, we're sticking to anime/drawn pictures only. A more realistic style is fine, just as long as it's not an actual picture of a person. Anyways, things like location and who the character is with are nice touches for the layout, but aren’t really required so long as you make those things clear for those reading your post. If you beg Mewlicious Magician or tityanya, they might grace you with a free layout.
The account that created this guild and all of the main posts is a mule account. The real people in charge of this RP are Mewlicious Magician, Kiaburst, niegeno, and tityanya. I know it seems like a lot of people you have to make not hate you, but we're all pretty chill.
Please let us know you've read the rules! Say something silly in the comments, and don’t be afraid to use bad words.
Make sure your character profile is detailed; we want well written and complex characters, and we will ask you to revise if we aren't satisfied! Once your profile is accepted, you can begin posting in the main thread.
Speaking of characters, remember that this RP takes place in its own world, complete with countries and all which is detailed in a later post. Most of the listed locations give you a lot of wiggle room on purpose, so don’t be afraid to get a little creative and make your own village, island, or territory in any of the countries for your character to come from. If you want to make up another country, speak with Mewlicious Magician, though be aware there is only one major continent on the planet. If you want your character to be from Drappon or one of its neighbors, you’ll need to speak with KiaBurst. Also, just as a side note, anyone from a noble Aestonian family is more than likely at least part human.
I shouldn’t have to say it, and I’m sure it’s implied or stated somewhere in the ToS which is our rule #1, but don’t be a jerk, don’t be a bully, and don’t cause drama. In-character fights are fine and encouraged, but we should all strive to get along OOC. If anyone in this RP is getting banned for a reason other than disappearing on us, it is going to be someone breaking this rule.
Another obvious one, but we don’t want overpowered characters, autohitting, metagaming, or anything like that. Some characters aren’t as strong as others, and others are going to have a rock paper scissors relationship. Teachers will tend to be stronger than their students, and seniors will tend to be more skilled than the freshmen. Those not enrolled in the School of Knighthood won't be taking any combat classes, and will fall behind their peers quickly. These power levels aren’t hard and fast rules, but just remember that if it doesn’t make sense, you’re gonna get called out on it.
In the same vein, plotting events out in advance doesn't guarantee anything. We'll try to make anything you guys want to happen happen, but we can't guarantee anything. Plotting is a large part of any organized RP, but when it gets in the way of uninvolved people playing their characters how they want to, the plot cannot take priority. We encourage people talking it out and making a workaround, but if that doesn't work, that's just how the cookie crumbles.
Keep an eye on the front page and the rules. We'll update this stuff as we see fit.
I think I’ve said a lot here, but the most important thing is to have fun. Don’t take anything too seriously, and remember that we’re all friends here to build a story together.
