"Hurry papa! Hurry!" Maeztli giggled as she ran down the road. Her little skirt got tangled between her legs as she moved but it didn't seem to slow her any. The little girl got many odd looks as she passed people by but she never bothered to stop and stare back. She was used to them by now.
Following closely behind her with a huge smile on his face was her father, a tall shifter with a thin build. He kept his eyes on his daughter as she ran but also did his best to make sure no one got run over in the process. "Slow down princess!"
Another giggle sounded as she continued to move and her head shook. "No! It's this way!" Mae was overly excited to know that she had been given permission to look for an animal companion. All she needed now was to find the vendor that sold the beasts so she could find the perfect one. "This way. This way!" She squealed. Another couple of steps and she didn't dodge the leg of someone enough. Instead her shoulder clipped the back of it and she tumbled to the ground with her hands out in front of her to catch herself.

Chalcedony was currently out on a patrol of sorts, walking through the village of Sol, making sure that everything was appearing on the up and up. Due to his past experience that included more wars then he'd like to even think about he found himself drafted to help keep an eye out for the Dretch. He didn't care for the race, knowing full well the dangers they presented after their show of force, and he didn't want them any where near Sol. He only wished he could have summoned all of his children and made them all stay in Sol where he could keep an eye on them. At least Rajani was nearby, and Aysun visited. Now to try to smooth things out with Chandra so he would at least check in as well. His deep thoughts were interrupted as something ran into his leg, something small, and instantly he was turning to see who or what it was. Much to his surprise it wasn't any sort of small animal but instead a little youngling that looked that much smaller compared to Chal himself. Turning around he took a knee so as to appear smaller to her, offered a hand, and asked, "Are you alright, little one? You didn't get hurt in your fall, did you?"

She hit the ground and managed to skin the palms af her hands but she didn't seem to be too phased by it. Instead she blinked and looked up at the one she'd run into. "Mm sorry mister." Her eyes widened slowly as she tilted her head back to look at Chalcedony. Even with him kneeling down he was much taller than her. Maeztli took the hand that was offered but she couldn't stop staring at the man like he was a giant. "Maeztli! Princess are you alright?" Her father reached her about the same time that Chal had knelt down. "Sweetie you know you have to watch where you run." It was then that he turned to the man and offered an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry, she's excited to pick out her first familiar." Even with her dad speaking to the man Mae couldn't help but continue to stare up at him. Eventually her mouth came open and she tried to reach up and touch Chal's face. Was she really seeing him?

Chal gave a smile, glad to hear that she was doing well and hadn't gotten hurt in her fall. The girl took the hand that he offered her but didn't seem to be in a rush to get up or let him go, instead seeming to be starring at him. It was something that caused him to give a little chuckle, amused by the reaction, "It's quite alright. So long as you're okay." Lifting his gaze he found himself face to face with what he'd assume was the girl's father given the way he was acting. Giving the man a smile he said, "It's quite alright. I know how a child can be when it comes to their pets, one of my sons has an army of beasts." Something that made him chuckle at the thought. Aysun was a grown man and he still got childishly excited over new beasts just as this little youngling had gotten. Looking back to the girl with the interesting eyes he asked, "What sort of beast are you thinking of getting?"

Maeztli sucked in a breath and her eyes got even wider, if possible. "He has an army!?" The girl was awestruck by the possibility that someone could have so many companions. She'd never seen an army but she knew they were big. Bigger than a hoard of angry Nondwa! As she was asked what type of animal it was that she was planning on getting she gave the biggest grin, showing off the fact that she was missing her two front teeth. "The biggestest one they have!" Maeztli finally let go of the man's hand so that she could open her eyes wide and emphasize the size that she wanted. She even stood up on her tip toes in an attempt to gain some height for her show and tell.

Giving a chuckle he said, "Yeah, a whole army of various creatures from all over." It was something that worried him when Aysun was younger, not wanting his son getting eaten by his own pets. He was more confident in his skills these days since he was still going, "He's even planning a trip to get a rare bird from Zena soon from what he's told me." Though he wasn't sure he liked the idea of him traveling that far, even if he was planning the trip with others as well as planning on bringing some of his beasts with him. "The biggest one they have?" Something that made him laugh, "Sounds like something my son would say. If you mean the ones here in Jauhar I think the biggest you can get is a radaku. I got a radaku pup myself recently and I can say they are quite loyal." Looking at her father he said, "Good luck." He couldn't help but to wonder if the girl would end up buried in familiars. Something he could only wish the man luck with if it happened.

The little girl's eyes seemed to sparkle with admiration for this son of a giant who had his own army of beasts. Maeztli wanted such a thing too! "Wow!" She turned her head so that she could look at her dad "Can I have an army? Pleeeeease papa?" The girl's dad looked at Chal and chuckled. "I have a feeling I will need that luck." As his daughter asked about having an army he looked down at her and cringed a little. "I don't think your mother can handle that." In fact he was sure she couldn't. "Awwwww.." The little girl pouted a little but gave her attention back to Chalcedony. "Do they have Yaeli beasts here?" This man seemed to know a lot about the animals that she could get so she wanted to know all she could now.

Chalcedony gave a thoughtful sound before he said, "I can't say. There are some merchants that carry exotic beasts but I don't know what they have in stock at any given time. That would be more something my son would know." He thought on it before he said, "I know he has a serpent that comes from Yael... though I think those are beasts that are meant for more experienced trainers." They were big, they liked to squeeze, and he was pretty sure they were venomous. Not something for a child if you asked him... though since she wasn't his child he supposed it would be up to her parents. "A fun one to consider would be a nondwa. Those can cover you with a lot of glitter since they are covered in the stuff." He suggested, wanting to help her father out if he could when it came the girl's first choice of beast.

So the man didn't know if there were any beasts from the land her mother came from. It was a little disappointing but Maeztli didn't seem to show it. However, she did light up even more when he mentioned that his son had a serpent from Yael. "How'd he get it!?" Being told that such a beast was for more experienced trainers she puffed out her little chest. "I'm gonna be a beast tamer!" Her father gave a nervous laugh as he rubbed at the back of his neck. Clearly he was slightly uncomfortable with the idea of his little girl taming beasts that were dangerous. However, the suggestion of a Nondwa caused him to nod. "Oh yes, those are fun." "Glitter!!" Maeztli squealed and giggled before making grabby hands at Chalcedony. "I want one! Lets go lets go!"

"Ohhh, a beast tamer? That is an interesting path to take. My son ended up as a rider himself, well one of my sons. The other is a magic user, while my daughter is off swinging a hammer about." Something that made him chuckle a bit. How different the lot of them were from one another. Giving a smile he looked over at the girl's father, giving him a little thumbs up when the girl showed interest in the extremely harmless and glitter covered nondwa before he turned his attention back to her again as she made grabby motions at him. Giving a smile he said, "I wouldn't want to intrude on your family outing, little one." He wouldn't want to get under foot when the girl's father was likely wanting to bring her to get the pet on his own, as a family bonding sort of thing.

She grabbed hold of the man and tried to pull herself up when she heard that he had a daughter too. "She does!?" It was even more cool knowing that his daughter swung around a big hammer. It made her think about the idea for a moment. "Papa! Can I have a hammer and ride a big big beast!?" The little girl turned to look at her dad then. "Ah.. Maeztli, your mother would kill me if I let you run around with a hammer." The shifter man chuckled and moved forward to stop her from pulling on the other man. "I'm sorry sir, she gets very excited and she's impossibly spoiled by everyone in the family." He tried to explain. "Am not. Talia doesn't spoil me that much." She made the comment about her aunt. Her aunt and her mother were the two that enforced the rules more so than the rest of the family.

Chalcedony gave a bit of a chuckle before he said, "Well, what else are children for other then trying to spoil them? At least when they are of the age when they want to be spoiled." When they got older it became something that was more difficult at times, especially with Chandra. He somehow doubted the boy would accept a lot in the way of spoiling these days, at least from Chal that was. Giving a little smile he said, "Well, hammers are a bit like Yaeli serpents in that one has to be a bit older to get them." He said, hoping to save the man from the whole hammer thing since he'd been the one to bring it up. He'd done well in suggesting the nondwa then ended up instantly messing up via bringing up hammers which the girl seemed to also be interested in. After looking between the two of them he turned to the girl and asked, "Any idea what color nondwa you might want? I hear they come in a rainbow of colors."

"Aww but I want one!" With her dad pulling her away from the other man she no longer seemed to be pulling on him or trying to climb him. Almost instantly she was distracted with the prospect of being able to choose the color of her Nondwa. Giving a gasp she tilted her head back so that she could stare at Chalcedony. "Really!? I want one that matches my hair!" She reached up to touch her short purple hair. In fact almost everything about Maeztli was dark. Her hair, her eyes, her skin, even her crystals. "I like this color." The girl beamed with pride over her purple hair. "I wish my eyes were this color too."

"That would be a rather neat nondwa I bet." He said, giving a smile as the girl turned her attention to the nondwa again. It was good to hear that her attention was back on something that she might actually be able to get while she was little. Well... one never knew what her family might allow but if it was him he'd allow a child her age a nondwa or a small, baby beast, but nothing dangerous. There was enough danger out there he thought to himself. As she mentioned liking the color Chal gave a soft laugh, "It is a good color. A shame that my son isn't around today, I'm sure he could show you right where to get a nondwa that color. Hopefully those in town that sell familiars will have in stock that is the right color." He wasn't really certain though how one went about catching nondwa and taming them, nor was he sure how many of them a salesman might have on hand at any one time. Here was to hoping they would have the 'right' color as far as the little youngling was concerned.
