    [ - Enter Ven/Gin/Jesse to Courtyard - ]

Chuckling lightly, he ran around the side of the fountain. He knew full well that Jesse was faster than him, but he had to at least try to outrun her. His best bet was to out maneuver her. With his ears keen on listening for her footsteps, he heard her vault up onto the fountain, taking the ‘high ground’, so to speak. She was clever, but not clever enough. As she leapt for him, to get him from above, he streaked to the side, narrowly avoiding her.

Chuckling in amusement, he kept going. “Ha! Nice one, Jesse. You almost got me!” He said as he made his way toward some of the benches that lined the far side of the courtyard. The two of them ran around like that for nearly an hour. Jesse tagging him, him chasing after her to corner her and tag her back. It was fun, and the exercise did him some good too.

By the time Ven called out to them, letting them know that the class was over, and they were free to head to lunch, Gin was panting lightly. Hopping up onto the fountain’s ledge in his wolf form, he caught his breath and smirked at Jesse. “That was fun…” Resting his head on his paws, he gave Jesse a grateful look, glad to have her as a friend and a classmate. They weren’t very close, but he was glad that she’d cared enough to indulge him in their little game.

“I have a lunch date with Vivian. I’ll see you next class?” He asked as he hopped off the ledge and turned to look at his classmate. He knew Jesse would be there – she never missed class – but he suspected she’d be glad to know that he’d be happy to see her there regardless. With Jesse’s answer given, he nodded a little. “See you then…”

As Gin passed by Ven on his way to the infirmary, he gave him a little nod and let him know that he’d be home after meeting with Vivian and spending some time with her. Gin wanted to give Ven and Gia some privacy – yes, they loved and worried for him, but they needed their private time too…So he’d take his time and make his way home after at least a few hours of hanging out with his friend.

It had been soo long since she'd had the opportunity to play with another shifter - especially in a game of chase such as this one, she would leap up onto the benches as they approached, hopping between them and sometimes even using Gin as a stepping stone if he was close enough to tag.

Sometimes the Wolf would corner her and if there was a chance, Jesse would dart out between his legs and flit away, but she even if she couldn't escape, she was by no means upset when he tagged her as it meant she could chase him all over again - What a sight it must have been, watching a large wolf being pursued by a little fox and then vice versa, she was having so much fun that the time escaped her and before she knew it their 'lesson' had come to an end.

As Ven called out, Jesse would follow Gin to the fountain, hopping up onto the wall beside him before leaning down to lap up some of the cooling water. "I don't think I've had so much fun in ages" After drinking enough to quench her thirst, the little Fox would turn with a grin, sitting down as the wolf mentioned about his lunch date with Vivian, "Oh? That sounds fun!" she would flash her foxy smile before watching as the male hopped from the wall and glanced back,

"Oh for sure!" nodding, Jesse would wrap her tail around her feet, "Hope you have a good time!" she would wave before looking towards Ven and hopping down, "Thank you for today," the Bear stood like a Giant compared to the little Fennec Fox, but she was by no means afraid, "I had a really great time!" her long tail would swish happily from side to side, then she would bow her head and dart inside before the door closed shut.

Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea? Pushing open the doors, Tala was surprised to see the Courtyard Empty - He wasn't upset by this though - in fact, a smirk tweaked at the corner of his lips and he stepped confidently out into the Courtyard, seeking out the spaces where the sunlight fell, making shadows that were more than capable of becoming malleable creatures.

As a cloud passed overhead, a slight breeze picked up around the male and he closed his eyes, breathing deep, then exhaling slowly before holding his hands out infront of him. After this first stance, he would move them in a motion close to the practice of Tai-Chi, before drawing them close as he turned, drawing a line of black from the shade.

Opening his eyes, he watched as it swirled around, advancing like a flame caught on a trail of oil before rising. As it drew level with his hands, he twisted it into a ball and rolled it across his arms before flattening it out - He'd been working on creating weapons from shadows for some time now and with practice, the Shadowmancer was now able to create a small blade which would hold its shape just long enough to deliver a blow that could even break the skin - it wasn't capable of causing much more than the equivalent of a deep parchment-slice, but it would still hurt!

Molding it without touching the shadow itself, Tala clasped his fingers around the hilt of the blade before using his free hand to draw forward a second shadow - He wasn't too fantastic about maintaining two perfect shades for long and this was clear as the creature that arose had little in the way of a recognisable form, but Tala was improving and as the black beast rose up, the Shadowmancer made a lunge, twisting in his advance before dragging the edge of the dagger across what was perceived to be it's torso.

In reaction to the attack - which seemed to leave a deeper gash as the creature was of the same material - the shade split open wide, reeling backwards before straightening up and appearing to draw itself back together to close the wound... Tala had obviously intended for this to happen and allowed it just long enough to recover before striking again. He knew it was pushing his luck, but as he was in the 'zone' he created a second blade, moving in for a stab and plunging the dagger deep before closing his eyes as he felt something heavier than fog collapse down over him as the shade lost its form and fell down around him.

With the remnants of the shade flowing back towards the shadows from whence they had come, Tala rose up, dusting himself off before drawing a smaller shade forward - He hadn't decided what he wanted to do with this one, but as he pondered over what he could create next, he molded it into a small ball and rolled it between his hands.

With the sphere at an average size, the youth tossed it up into the air, holding it in place with a simple movement of his hands before sending it away and watching as it rebounded off a nearby wall and rolled back towards him. That was an idea!

Summoning forth one of the Shadowbeast - which over years of practice had become almost second nature to conjure - Tala would take a seat at the base of one of the walls, forming the small orb once again before casting it away. He of course had subtle control of the Creature, but it was still fun to watch as it darted off after the bouncing orb, scooping it up into its jaws and skidding to a halt before spinning round to scamper back again.

Like anyone would treat a normal hound, the Shadowmancer would welcome it back with open arms, running his hands across its face and muzzle before creating another Orb which he would launch across the Courtyard and watch as the creature sped off after it once again.

Somewhere in the back of his mind, Tala was certain the Graduation Ceremony must have started about now, he of course should probably have made an attempt to attend, but with so many people packed into one room and of course the chance that after his little trip to the shores of Valor, Gannon may not exactly have neglected to notice he was absent from lessons for a week or so...He didn't want to chance it.

Instead, he watched as the skinny Shadowbeast darted after the Orb enjoying the moment whilst he had it to himself.

[ -Thanya enters the courtyard- ]

Thanya bounds into courtyard and stares in awe at the enormous ornate buildings. She had seen some large interesting structures on her journey through Valor but nothing like this. Compared to her small tree house hut in the jungle she had no idea people could build such things. I mean she had read about it in her books, but it was an entirely different thing seeing these structures in person.

Thanya thrusts her arms up into the air and shouts. "Yay, I'm finally here!" and then remembered she had done a similarly embarrassing thing at the docks and looks around to see if anyone had noticed. Lucky, she had run ahead of Emma once she saw the gates to the academy so she wasn't here to see her embarrassing herself again.

At the sound of footsteps swiftly approaching, Tala's head snapped round, breaking his concentration on the shadowbeast he had conjured which promptly dissipated like a wisp of smoke in the sunlight... As the individual drew nearer, the Shadowmancer realised quickly that he had very little time to escape and scrambled for the nearest shaded corner, drawing up his shadows in the hopes they would hide him from sight before watching as the female bounded into view...

She seemed an interesting soul - perhaps not someone he would approach willingly due to his 'issues' and her excitable nature - but she appeared quite taken aback by the grandeur of the Courtyard itself and he could only feel that perhaps she had never seen such a sight before? Tala had to admit, when he himself had started at the Academy only a year beforehand it had been a fascinating experience - having only really ever seen the Small Village that settled near his home and of course the Guardhouse within which he'd seen the jail walls more than a few times...

It was nice to see a new face, perhaps there would be others arriving too? But friendship was not the first thing on his mind - having used a fair amount of energy practicing his Shadowplay beforehand, Tala's limit of fifteen minutes for maintaining his cover would soon start to wither and fade...and if he intended to hide in the shadows for much longer, he would need to find somewhere well out of sight, or risk detection...

    [ - Enter Emma into Academy Courtyard - ]

Throughout their walk to the Academy, Emma had pointed out the various city buildings that Thanya might be interested in at a later time. They walked through the market, where fresh fruits, fish, and bread were sold, among other things. They then moved through the Artisan District where various specialty shops were locations, such as the tailor and the blacksmith’s.

Each question Thanya posed, Emma answered to the best of her ability. Pointing out various landmarks, she made sure that the girl knew her way around at least a little. She also made sure to warn her about the forest, again. With all the people disappearing lately, it just wasn’t safe…

Upon reaching the gates of the Academy, Thanya became over excited and ran ahead, clearly eager to see the Academy for herself. Following behind, a small smile on her face, Emma laughed lightly as the shifter female exclaimed, yet again, that she had finally made it.

“Here we are, Thanya…the Academy.” Pointing toward one of the larger buildings, she noticed the city guards. “That is the Grand Auditorium. Right now, the graduation ceremony is taking place. There, you can find Gannon Noble, he’s the Head Court Mage for the school. He’ll know where to send you for your room and your lunch.” Emma said with a smile and a wink.

“I need to be heading back to work now, but I have confidence that you’ll find your way now that you’re on the Academy grounds. If you ever want to visit again, come and see me at the Jolly Tavern and Inn in the housing district…I’ll buy you a meal.”

As she turned to walk back out of the gates, she turned back. “Oh, and Thanya…remember what I told you about going into the Forest….it’s not safe…Until we meet again...” That being said, she gave the girl a friendly wave and walked back out of the gates to head back to work.

Thanya's ears drooped again at the mention of not going into the forest. It was like telling a fish it could not go to the sea. Picking fruit high in the canopy, taking a nap on a branch in a warm beam of sun, it was where she felt most comfortable. Actually it was more than that. It was where she felt she belonged. Still Thanya managed to put on a smiling face and wave Emma off. "Okay, thank you for all your help, Emma! I'll definitely stop by your tavern for sure!"

Thanya turned her attention the building Emma had pointed out as being the grand hall--and it did appear quite grand--but she was distracted by the armed guards in front of it. Why would they need that here? Emma did say a graduation ceremony was going on. Would Thanya be interrupting something if she tried to go in now?

In the end she decided against going into the building for now and instead turned her focus to the fountain. She had never seen such an object before. It had such pretty, clear water in it and it was fascinating how it was shooting water out of the top of it, seemingly against gravity. She wondered how it worked. Walking over to the fountain, she cupped some of the water into her hands and drank it. It tasted fine and was actually kind of refreshing after her journey through town, so she cupped some more to drink.

As Thanya was drinking her fill from the fountain, her ears twitched as she caught an odd sound from behind her. She turned but only saw an empty dark corner of the courtyard. How odd. She sniffed the air and detected the scent of another person from that direction, yet she still saw nothing. Confused, she said out loud, "Umm, is someone there? There's no reason to be afraid of little old me. I'm here to enroll in the academy and uh... I could really use some food."

Tala sunk lower in his hiding place as the second female appeared, he still had a good view of the pair, but knew it was better to keep out of sight than to risk being spotted and perhaps questioned as to why he wasn't at the ceremony...

He listened as the pair spoke, pondering where the taller female worked before overhearing the answer. It was when she advised that the female, Thanya? Kept her distance from the forest that he furrowed a brow, he had heard rumours that students had been going missing, but having kept quite the low profile, he hadn't really spoken to anyone who could have revealed anything more than that... In the back of his mind, he was still under the impression they were still keeping the Forest off limits due to the 'large beast' that had been running around... He could hardly believe it had been a year since he'd nearly been mauled by the man who was now a renowned member of the Eoana Guard...but still... His mind slipped back to the Wolf he'd seen back in the Witch's hut and couldn't help but feel Baba may have been involved somehow?

His attention returned to the pair as the taller female took her leave, watching now as the shifter who seemed rather intrigued by the fountain, stooped to drink her fill before turning as something caught her attention - Him.

Tala stiffened, he of course had no more of Baba's charms to mask his scent or muffle his movement and having taken to hiding before analysing the situation, hadn't really considered she might just be able to sniff him out with her heightened senses... This could be a problem... He watched her cautiously as she questioned if someone was there... The Shadowmancer was of course not afraid of her, well, not exactly... but he had convinced himself that getting involved with people or even making new friends was at that time out of the question...

Hearing she was hungry, Tala withheld a sigh - he knew what it was like to be hungry, but really didn't want to chance an encounter - he had no idea when The Witch was going to get in contact again and couldn't risk anyone getting involved...or hurt just for talking to him. Thinking quickly, he glanced up towards the door to the Academy interior, if he could just muster enough energy to send something small in that direction, she might move away...?

Catching prickles of light through the shade he'd created, Tala knew time was fleeing and so made the slightest movement with his hand, breaking a small shadow from the mass cloaking him and sending it at the speed of a small mouse towards the door... If Thanya's eyes caught it and she gave chase - heading inside, he would let out a sigh at her departure before dispelling the cloak and making a hasty exit himself... If she of course failed to spot it, or perhaps didn't feel it worth the chase, Tala knew that he would have to explain himself when his control waned and his shadowcloak faded to reveal his presence...

Out of the corner of her eye Thanya sees the small shadow critter dart from the shadows. She turns to watch it but despite her primal instincts telling her otherwise, she does not give chase. She learned early on in travels, chasing small delicious looking critters in public places was frowned upon by society. With the guards standing vigil at the door she had enough self control to embarrass herself a third time today, so she lets the creature go. Perhaps that critter was what she had heard in the first place. But the smell of human still lingered.

Still perplexed but too hungry to care anymore Thanya gives a sigh and says quietly to herself. "Oh, well...it would have been nice to have someone to talk to. Guess I'm still on my own." Thanya turns away from the shadows and begins to walk away. The grand hall still seemed a bit too intimidating with all those people inside and it didn't smell like there was any food at all, so Thanya decided to follow her nose to find something to eat preferably free. It was not long until she wandered out of the courtyard to places unknown.

Probability || None
Enters with Sylrenya from the Dorms...

                              ╔═══════════════════

Walking through the halls with the pack around his shoulder. Kayl initially received some looks of surprise from the staff and guards in the area. However as the school year was over, most of them conceded that Kayl must have been going home for the summer break, and did think anything further of his departure. Sylrenya's invisibility was in tact once more, so none could see her sitting on his shoulder aside from those with 'the sight'. As he stepped out into the courtyard, Kayl brought a hand up to shield his eyes from the strong sun peaking through the clouds. Taking a deep breath, Kayl continued forward towards the main gates, where Gannon would be waiting for them. As they walked, he noticed that Sylrenya had gone quiet, and seemed to be in her own head. "You must be excited, you've been waiting for this for a long time," Kayl said lightly, breaking the silence as he made his way across the beautiful main courtyard that surrounded the main path from the academy to the main gates. "And nervous," Syl let out as she looked up at Kayl before looking back towards the ground. "To be honest, I'm a bit scared Kayl, I'm not sure what we will find," Sylrenya said as her gaze lowered even lower towards the ground, her wings falling low behind her back. "Will we be able to find my village? I'm not even sure how long I've been gone, so even if we do find them, do you think they'll remember me?" She asked lightly, a small knot in her throat audible in her voice as her eyes teared a little. "How could they possibly forget?" Kayl said while bring a hand up and gently nudging her small cheek with the end of his finger. "This bubbly cute little Fae, always so playful and cheerful, not only will they remember you, but I'm sure they never stopped looking for you and will be abound with joy at your return," Kayl said with a smile as they started to come up on the main gates.

Sylrenya smiled then, letting out a small happy pout as her wings fluttered behind her anxiously. "Smooth talker," She said as she wiped her face and then stood on his shoulders firmly, full of confidence after Kayl's words. "You're right Kayl, I'm adorable, who would forget me!" She said jokingly, trying to push her fears behind her. Already she felt thankful that Kayl was accompanying her. Although she had made many friends in the academy, many friends who cared about her, she had an unspoken connection with Kayl that she couldn't understand. From the moment she saw his teary face in the Grand Library, to when he found her nearly frozen to death in the city during the festival. Kayl was always there for her, and his presence gave her courage. As they reached the main gates, Syl pointed out towards the east side of the gate, "There, looks like he's done some preparations himself," Syl said while noting the horses and additional supplies.

Kayl himself was impressed when they saw him. Kayl knew that Gannon kept up on the comings and goings of the academy, but he hadn't considered Gannon's knowledge of everything happening under his roof. Not only had Gannon brought horses for them to ride in their travels, but one of them was actually Kayl's personal horse, Elynai. When Kayl saw his own horse ready at the gates, he nodded with a smile at Gannon and walked over to Elynai, patting his snout and petting his mane. "Hello old friend," Kayl said before looking to Gannon and bowing to him respectfully. "Good evening sir," Kayl said as he stood straight up again. Sylrenya dove off of Kayl's shoulder then, releasing her invisibility and flying up in front of Gannon. "We made it Gannon, I have brought him like asked. We are ready to go when you are!" Sylrenya said with a light giggle and a large smile on her face, despite the light watery tears that was fading from her eyes.

Gannon tugged on the harnesses keeping his mount’s saddle bags in place. With everthing packed away and ready to go, he felt confident that the trip would be a success. Brageet sat perched on her saddle grip, fluffed up in the afternoon sun, bathing in the heat.

<<’I do hope we find Silme’s village…I have a few leads on where it might be.’>> Despite not knowing Silme for very long, Brageet had a fondness for the fae and had been keeping her eyes and ears open for any signs of her kin. To her credit, she’d checked out the general area that Elijah had pinpointed on his map, a map that was now in Gannon’s possession, and she’d found some promising evidence to suggest that they would be heading to the right area of Eoana Forest.

<<’Me too, Brageet…I have every confidence that we’ll find at least something to boost her spirits.’>> Even if they didn’t find her home, Gannon hoped they at least found some clues to help them along. This was a journey after all – for all they knew, Sylrenya was from a group of fae that lived in another forest, or even another country all together.

Hearing footsteps approaching, Gannon looked up from his task to see Kayl walking toward him. Given the lads attire and the bag on his back, Gannon was pleased to see that his suspicion that Silme would ask him to come along, was correct, hence why Gannon had prepared Kayl’s horse ahead of time.

“Good Evening, Kayl. I’m glad to see that Silme picked you to come along on this journey.” Given Kayl’s training in combat, Gannon felt confident to take the student along. If they ran into trouble, he wouldn’t have to worry too much about his pupil. With his bow and quiver at his back and several large hunting knives on his belt, he too was well equipped for combat if it came to it.

“I took the liberty of packing what we’d need as far as food and camping supplies is concerned. If you’re ready, I’d like to head out immediately. We'll make our way into the forest and get as far as we can by sunset. We'll make camp for the night and head out again at first light. WIth any luck, we'll find something by mid morning tomorrow.” It was later in the day than he’d have liked, but he’d made a promise and it would be fulfilled. Gripping the pommel of the saddle, Gannon mounted up and got himself settled in the saddle, taking care to make sure Brageet was comfortable before he looked to Kayl once more.

“Alright, lets head out.” Taking the reins in hand, Gannon maneuvered his horse toward the gates. Moving at a steady walk, he led the way away from the Academy and toward the forest. Gannon only hoped that whatever dangers lurked within the woods left them in peace, he already had enough to worry about…

[-Thanya enters the courtyard for the new day.-]

Having spent the rest of the previous day going over the academy classrooms with Ven, Thanya once again spent the night sleeping in a tree on campus. She would have to get checked into a dorm sooner or later but she had yet to see Lerato or Gannon since they left. After procuring some grub from the dining hall Thanya had returned to the library to procure some books. As much as she loved being surrounded by all that knowledge she found the building to be much too stuffy so instead took a small collection of tomes to to courtyard to peruse at her pleasure. she figured with nothing else to do she might as well read. It was what most interested her anyways.

Finding a comfortable spot under a tree Thanya began to read her books. However, the warm balmy weather was making her eyelids feel heavy. The last couple nights hadn't been the best sleeping conditions after all. She was a Nocturnal creature at heart so forcing herself to sleep at night also came with some difficulties. She wondered how much longer she would be able to read before succumbing to her sleepiness.

The first time ever sleeping in for Azura had to have felt the weirdest for him. Ever since he finally had summer break, he would look at the sun and sky to see that today was a day like any other. At least, that was what he thought at the time. Heading out of his empty dorm room into the courtyard, he would let off a yawn and wander out before sitting at a bench that was opposite to a tree in which he would find to see a girl with cat like ears slowly fall asleep as she was reading her book. He wondered about her, thinking if she was okay and wasn’t gonna pass out on te floor out in the open. Excuse me, are you okay? You loook like you were gonna pass out. He asked her, as he was bed to her where he trees were.

Thanya looked up at the boy as he approached with her large sleepy looking eyes. She would smile at him warmly. With a yawn she would stretch her limbs and tail before answering. "Oh, no I am fine. The warm weather combined with the sun, it just makes me soo sleepy. And this grass is really comfortable. You're a student here right? My name is Thanya. I'm going to be attending the academy too, once classes start again. I came all the way from Mistun. Were are you from?"
