Keeper's hackles rose, nostrils wide as he took in the scent of blood. It would draw predators—and soon—and it didn't smell of kin. A part of him said to run, but a bigger part said he would run no more.
He shouldered a prickly burst of foliage aside, revealing a baby bird beneath. Its size and coloring marked it for an eagle, but there was a pride in its eyes that was almost kin-like. It neither moved nor cried, and for a moment Keeper stood, matching the fledgling's gaze.

Task 1Slowly, ever so slowly, the bird's eyes slipped shut, its head lowering to rest on the growing red puddle beneath. Keeper interpreted this to mean he was allowed to approach—and nearly lost an eye for the presumption. He backed away, his quick steps sending ripples that seemed to gather up the blood and spread it further. After a moment's contemplation, he snatched a dragonfly from the air and tried again.

Task 2The offering seemed to mollify the bird somewhat, and Keeper took the opportunity to investigate the nature of the injury. It wouldn't do to move it only to have it perish on the way, after all.

5. Something you did sets the animal off immediately, and it lashes out at you surprisingly violently in reaction. Perhaps that's a sign of what went wrong here, though. +1 clue, -3 HP
As soon as Keerper's hoof touched the bird's knee, it flopped off him, kicking with its clawed feet as it did so. 6. Unfortunately, there are parts of the animal's anatomy that you just have to look at, to eliminate all possibilities. The animal doesn't seem pleased, though, and the examination unfortunately produces no results for you this time. -2 HP
Keeper tried to look for another offering, but found none. He'd hoped to appease the bird before trying again, but there wasn't much time. The bird allowed this, especially after he caught another dragonfly on the way, and he nearly sighed with relief. 1. You take a step back, careful not to spook the animal. Stepping away, surprisingly, actually helps you get a better idea of the full situation. +1 clue

Task 3He backed out of the shelter, taking care not to bumble into the prickly bush he'd shoved aside earlier, head craned back to see if a nest was nearby. He reared to get a better view of the branches above, and as he did so he caught sight of a caiman. He pivoted as he fell back down on all fours, too invested in the bird to leave it now. He lunged, snapping close, hoping to intimidate the caiman before it grew physical.

Task 4One caiman was gone, but Keeper knew another could come at any moment. He scooped the chick onto his muzzle, having to dig into the wet mud beneath to do so, and tried to tuck it into the nearest branch. Unfortunately, it was too tall for him, and he circled the tree with a huff. Eventually, he decided he would have to find a better shelter nearby.
19: You find an herb known for its curative properties on your way to your safe spot. You take a break to eat some and recoup. Heal 5 HP.
He found an herb on the way and plucked it carefully. Thankfully, the act caused the chick to claw its way closer to the base of his horns, and it grew easier to walk while keeping the bird balanced.OOC Footnote Current HP: 14 + 5 = 19/30 Current Trust: 17 Section notes: 0 Units Traveled
