Task 6Despite his wounded mouth he was able to communicate the reason for his visit. Thankfully, the buck knew what to do, and supplied him with the materials, as well as some advice. "Try coming from the other side next time," he'd said.
Keeper returned to the tree, glad that the bird had not fallen while he was gone.

He applied the remedy, dodging the bird's flinching kicks with a little more ease. He tucked it back into the branch and went to rest nearby, hidden beneath a bush. Its cries grew louder and louder, and he saw its parents return just before he woke up.

Another day, another night, and Keeper woke to the scent of blood once more. He slid silently to his feet, glancing to both sides to find the source. He soon discovered he needn't have looked at all—it found him instead.
He dodged nimbly as an eaglehound charged, drawing fury from its pain. Its feathered head was in disarray, blood coating its muzzle, and Keeper might have left if it didn't give a sudden cry and fall. It alternated between whimpering and snarling, keeping one eye on Keeper as it struggled to its feet. It barely rose halfway before stumbling again.
Keeper circled, attentive. He'd heard of their loyalty as well as their protective nature, and though it surged against him he knew he had to at least try to help.
