Fel Essence  Gilded Lily
The phrase "gilding the lily" is often used to refer to the foolishness of embellishing something that is already complete, but this time, it seems to have been taken somewhat literally. This particular lily blossom looks as if it has been dipped in liquid gold, and while the thin layer of metal can be scratched away to reveal an average colored flower beneath, closer inspection will show that the metal is not just golden in color, but in fact, gold itself. Given enough time this gold will grow back, the flower somehow generating the precious metal all on its own as it lives.
Cockroach  The cockroaches are an ancient group, dating back at least as far as the Carboniferous period, some 320 million years ago. They are common and hardy insects, and can tolerate a wide range of environments from Arctic cold to tropical heat. Cockroaches have appeared in human culture since classical antiquity. They are popularly depicted as dirty pests, though the great majority of species are inoffensive and live in a wide range of habitats around the world.
Cockroaches are among the hardiest insects. Some species are capable of remaining active for a month without food and are able to survive on limited resources, such as the glue from the back of postage stamps. Some can go without air for 45 minutes.
Cockroaches are social insects; a large number of species are either gregarious or inclined to aggregate, and a slightly smaller number exhibit parental care.

Appearance: Dior comes with bright emerald eyes framed by long eyelashes. Her hair is long and vibrant with a shimmery sheen when it hits the light just right. Her fair skin likewise reflects the tiny gold particles in her skin and is smooth to the touch.
Two long and thin antennas sprout from her head and are as long as her hair. She can rotate them in many directions but they usually point forward, or where gold is.
Dior’s wings are longer than her body and overlap each other. Light reflects with more ease on them. Her ribbon is smooth and fades to ivory.
This frei is usually seen wearing baggy clothes like oversized sweaters, big jackets and even blankets under basic shirts, tube tops and spaghetti strap items. She loves trying on fur coats but dislikes the fact that they weigh her down below her standard 4’5”.
Personality: At first glance Dior may appear to be a prim and proper kind of girl.
It doesn't take long to figure out she doesn't mind getting dirty and staying dirty. She often has to be reminded to take a shower at the end of the day and considers baths an unnecessary evil.
Her room is usually a mess only she knows how to navigate and it’s full of things she hoards. She also isn’t above stealing something that would look “great in her room” and does not understand why it’s wrong, after all she wouldn't mind if you took anything from her room. Sharing is caring.
Dior is a chatty and curious individual. She thrives in being around others and yearns to be "in the know".
She loves getting to know people down to even the most mundane details and often asks questions others may find intrusive or downright nosey.
Dior can be seen scribbling away notes about the people she meets and keeps these thoughts in a special notepad™. Thanks to this she has an easy time with giving gifts, however personal information of others sometimes escape her lips.
Beneath her inquisitive exterior is a gentle and sensitive layer. While she may not display that she is bothered at first if it jostles her enough she will cry it out in her own company.
Dior doesn’t think twice about doing something as petty as egging a house (or someone) as a means of revenge. She tries to put up a strong font and will simply skitter away when overwhelmed.
Food:
[ Lilies ] Dior prefers to chew up the plants nutrients and then spit them out, much like chewing tobacco… she can use her fingertips to feed on the entire lily but prefers the action of chewing.
[ Gold ] From gold leaf to actual gold nuggets, Dior can extract the precious metal from objects by slathering it with her saliva and then slurping the gold right out.
[ Water ] Did you know cockroaches can live for a long time with just water? It’s essential to both her soul and essence but it’s the method with little to no flavor. She can absorb water through her skin.
Powers:
Gilded touch [A] - Gold seeps from her pores to coat her skin. The gold is soft and malleable serving more for 'show' rather than an actual line of defense. She can keep it up for a few (1-3) minutes until she is drained and it starts to peel off. Gold can also flow from under her nails to cover an object. This works best on flowers and will last a long time if the flower is handled with care. When not used on plants the gold will start to flake after a day.
Hardy carapace [P] - Thanks to her soul's nature Dior can take a tumble... or 10. Her wings appear delicate and fragile but they are actually quite sturdy! This trait applies to her skin as well and only her outer layer. While the skin may have a hard time breaking it does not spare her from bruises or broken bones.
Metal detector [P] - Her antennas quiver when there is gold nearby. With them she can map out in her mind an approximate location. She can follow this gut feeling until it gets to the point she knows for sure where the gold is or knows she went the wrong way because the feeling is gone. They are sensitive to touch and will hurt if pulled. Dior can hold gold up to them to tell if gold is fake.
Traits:
[ Skin ] Tiny gold particles make her skin shimmery to the eyes and is smooth to touch. Since it takes a bit to puncture the skin when pressed down it almost resembles plastic.
[ Wings ] Sturdy and hard to break. She can flap them rapidly to gain speed. They make the same buzzing sound a flying cockroach makes.
[ Antennas ] They might look like they could pierce something but they’re like noodles.
[ Saliva ] There are chemicals in her saliva that help break down gold.
Stats:
[ Endurance ] 38 - Possibly the highest amongst Freis. Dior takes a very long time to tire and thanks to her Hardy carapace ability she can take quite the beating! She can fly for long periods of time.
[ Intelligence ] 30 - Not only is she clever, Dior is quite resourceful and makes due with what she has. She is a quick learner.
[ Magic ] 28 - Dior is fairly confident in her magical abilities.
[ Friendliness ] 27 - Usually acceptant of others as long as they give her no reason dislike them. Has no fear of mingling with others and enjoys meeting new people.
[ Humor ] 25 - She'll laugh along for most things but sometime's it's a bit too mean-spirited. Has an immature sense of humour and thinks fart jokes are hilarious.
[ Creativity ] 24 - Dior prefers to decorate something that has already been made rather than doing things from scratch. Coloring books are fine, drawing from reference or memory is not.

Appearance: Rowan's lips are never without a smile and her eyes sport crow's feet. Her wavy hair is of a salt and pepper mix and is usually in a bun or ponytail.
Her soft brown eyes are quick to assure and reinforce the wisdom she carries. She wears glasses, crystal and glass pendants, and many bracelets. Rowan sports a peachy complexion and is usually seen wearing earth or blue tones preferably in loose fabrics.
She is rarely seen without a shawl (even in the middle of Summer) or a purse. She stands at a modest 5'6".
Personality: Warmth and serenity radiate from her. From the minute she wakes up there is a gentle smile on her face. She is the kind to think the best of others, but has a sharp tongue when discipline is needed.
Rowan is kept at peace by knowing she has lived a fulfilling life and wishes to share and pass down her experiences. She offers advice even when it is not asked and considers tea time the perfect solution to any problem.
When she is troubled she seeks refuge in her crystals and those close to her. Rowan is not prone to bottle things inside and knows how to weave her emotions into her spells. This is also something she has teaches people (specially children) when they cannot control their anger.
History: Rowan was born in Barton town on a new moon. Having been raised in a family of witches Rowan comes with old traditions.
Her childhood was spent being homeschooled and mostly in nature. She grew up with a deep appreciation for nature and a strong knowledge of magic.
Rowan is a widow and has three children currently out exploring the world. They visit sometimes. Other relatives include: an older sister, older brother, a younger sister (by 1 year!) and a handful of cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Her family is scattered all over the map but they do keep in touch with each other. Her parents are long gone but they left her and her siblings a modest inheritance.
With that money the eldest sibling opened an occult shop and Rowan followed her example when she turned 20. The Crystal Map is now located in the middle of other Barton Town shops and is enchanted to make it easier for magic users to find (as in those without magic are likely to not give it a second glance).
Those wandering in will find supplies like crystals, incense and candles to aid in their magework. Rowan specializes in enchanting objects (good luck charms, money talismans, sleep aid satchels etc).
She has had several assistants but is now down to one 12 y/o nephew. Already it seems Rhys has no desire to be the next owner, leaving Rowan a bit worried for the future of her project.
It seemed as if the answer to her troubles came in the form of simple piece of paper, advertising someone else's project. |
