Where will your adventure in the carnival take you?
Between the attractions, games, costumes and excitement who knows what might happen!

THE RULES
Before playing please head over to the [ Game Master ] thread to report how many tickets you want to use on the game.
You can enter this game whenever a prompt is open. Each round costs 1 ticket to play.
Each round will consist of 2 to 3 prompts of which you may only reply to one.
Note that you may only play one character for this game.
Depending on your choice there will be different outcomes and consequences. Some choices may require you to roll dice for additional outcomes, for instance.
You may gain points, or nothing, or even be knocked out for a round!
The goal of the game is to have the most points at the end in order to win.
Good luck and have fun!

NEW TO HELL BOUND?
You do not need to own an approved character to play this game. Simply make one up. Please note that made up characters should still fit into our setting and follow basic setting rules. Check out the [ Newbie Guide ] to get started if you're not sure where to begin!
However, if you wish to use them in the ORP, or elsewhere, they MUST be approved first.

ROUND START DATES
Rounds will occur every Tuesday, and Saturday. There is a possibility for random "bonus" rounds, so keep an eye out!

• If you don't have any tickets, remember that you can claim some in the [ Ticket Booth ] each day.

ROUND ONE

Remember: You may only respond to one of the below prompts, thus beginning your unique adventure, so choose wisely! Each round costs one ticket, and you do not need an approved character to participate!

Prompt One

Giddy and delirious from all of the excitement, you take a step back to breath. As you stumble away from the hypnotic lights and sounds, you catch a flash of color, off in the distance. Curious, you turn toward the source, and you see a pair of hounds, standing along the treeline of a forest, smiling coyly. You stare and blink, wondering if what you’re witnessing could possibly be real, or a side effect of the Carnival’s mysticism. Before you can decide, the twins turn tail and disappear into the thicket.

Well, if this is a dream, you aren’t ready to wake from it! Hurriedly, you make your way across the field and into the forest, peering around. There! You see them standing in the middle of a path, in front of a distinct fork. You make eye contact, and for a moment, think that they may allow you to approach...But then they’re darting off again! The silver hound travels down the left path, while the gold hound takes the right.

What will you do?

Prompt Two

Giddy and delirious from all of the excitement, you take a step back to breath. As you stumble away from the hypnotic lights and sounds, you catch a flash of color, off in the distance. Curious, you turn toward the source, and you see a pair of hounds, standing along the treeline of a forest, smiling coyly. You stare and blink, wondering if what you’re witnessing could possibly be real, or a side effect of the Carnival’s mysticism. Before you can decide, the twins turn tail and disappear into the thicket.

Deciding a far more rational response would be to return to the festivities and ignore the potentially phantom hounds attempting to lure you toward danger, you do just that! However, maybe an hour later, you spot them again, standing between two game stations. They’re just...standing there, as if they had always been there, and they’re looking right at you. A quick glance around tells you that no one else seems to have noticed them, which certainly strikes you as odd, and concerning. When you look back at the hounds, they’re separating - one dashes to the right, and the other to the left. You decide, even if they are luring you, you need some answers.

What will you do?

[responding to prompt 1]

After losing at carnival games all morning Dimitri was feeling pretty down on his luck. The carnival was supposed to be a happy place, everyone else seemed to be having a great time. It wasn't just the losing streak that had him down though it was the whole thing. He didn't really want prizes anyways he just thought maybe if people saw him doing really well they might want to talk to him or be friends. As the only child of a single working mom, he spent a lot of time alone.

"If only I had just one friend.....someone that would always want to be with me," he thought.

Then he turned the corner and there they were. Dimitri rubbed his eyes, he was sure he was hallucinating.

"Hounds?! What are they doing here?"

And then they were off like a flash, he was stunned but he refused to let them escape his sight. He shook his head hard, trying to regain his composure and took off running after the pair. They reached a fork and to his dismay the hounds split up and ran down different paths. For a second he wanted to chase them both, and in the confusion lost his balance, falling flat on his face. When he got back to his feet he just started running without thinking and happened to go down the right path, after the golden hound.

Prompt 2

Murphy was a bit hesitant when he saw the hounds off to the edge of the festivities. He had noticed them the first time but didn't pay them too much mind, assuming they belonged to someone else. When it became apparent that they were alone he knew something had to be up. Hounds didn't just appear...they had to be summoned by someone. After hemming and hawing for a few moments they darted off again and he knew they wanted him to follow them.

"Hey...Kasar, let's go follow those guys. Or girls," he amended, never one to (purposefully) offend. His own hound blinked up at him for a moment, his glowing eyes trained on the human.

Hm? But this carnival is so much fun!

"Yeah, but we can come back to it," the young man murmured. Never one to completely brush off an adventure, Kasar shrugged and gave himself a shake.

All right, then. Let's go!

The two set off after the hounds, and after some consideration Murphy decided to follow the paler of the two, assuming it would be easier to keep track of in the dark.

[OOC: Also, quick question...does this count as an RP for a character if they're already approved?]

Prompt 1

Wren scurried through the fairgrounds with an open look of glee upon her young face. She loved carnivals! Looking around at everyone and everything, she couldn't help but stare at the jugglers and acrobats, the fire dancers and sword eaters. It was all breath taking!

"C'mooooon Kaldar! I want to try some of that sticky corn they are selling over there!" she chirped at her hound, who was padding ever so sullenly by her side. He snorted silently and growled his disapproval at it all, but followed along like a grumpy shadow.

As they reached the booth in question, Wren excitedly went about buying her crunchy, sweet corn, hoping that sharing it with her hound might cheer him up a little bit. She knew he was just worried about her safety, but what could possibly be dangerous in a fun place like this!? With a final giggle, she turned from the booth with the bag in hand, about to show it off to her bond when a flash of color caught her eye outside the edge of the booths. Pausing, it took a few moments for the little girl to believe what she was seeing.

It was a pair of the most beautiful hounds she had ever seen! And they were smiling at her!

"K... Kaldar! Look! Look over there... aren't they beautiful... they seem friendly! Maybe I can meet their summoner!" Wren thought to her hound, barely waiting for his response before barreling her way through the crowd and into the field.

Kaldar meanwhile had only a moment to yip in alarm and bound after his ridiculous summoner. "Wren... Wren!" he yelled after her, quickly overtaking and stepping in front of his troublesome girl. "Wren wait. They could be dangerous," he growled simply, attempting to sound as though he wasn't leaving any room for discussion.

The little girl just snorted and ducked under his legs, "Well, that's why you're here then, aren't you? C'mon Kaldar, how often do we get to meet other summoners and hounds?"

Kaldar just shook his head and growled again, but followed after his summoner sullenly. As they reached the forest, he saw them split paths and his eyes narrowed in suspicion, "I don't like this."

This time Wren snorted and hurried after the white one that had gone to the left... she just had to know if there were more of them!

Prompt 1

Saeta was like a kid in a candy store. Carnivals were her favorite. The sights, sounds and smells carried her away from her daily life. At least, that was until she saw something resembling a clown and immediately goose stepped around and off into the opposite direction. That wasn't going to do.

Her movement was so quick, for a moment, she lost sight of her hound. It was a quick, n** to the hand that brought her back. He had been acting off all evening. Call it defensive or just plain ornery. Something around here was not to be trusted.

"Hush. It's a faire. Who's going to hurt someone at a...." she paused as he stared back at her. Saeta's eyes had fixated on something and in turn so did his.

Before them stood two of the most alluring hounds Saeta had ever seen. Without a thought, she needed to get close to them and took off running after them. She could hear her hounds exacerbated cries as he followed in suit. It wasn't until they came to a fork and the two split that Saeta paused.

"I wonder where they came from..." she whispered as if someone else might hear.

Her hound was having none of this. He didn't even need to respond for her to know, that her actions were highly disapproved of.

"Want to go on an adventure?" she turned, with a smile looking down at the hound beside her.

He snorted.

"Excellent! Onward! To adventure!" she yelled as she and her hound turned left towards the silver hound.

ROUND TWO

If you used a ticket to play round one, but didn't get your response completed, we will refund your ticket! This applies to Dizzy_Kat and Rian-chan.
On that note, please do not post unless you are posting a completed response! Placeholders are unnecessary.
If you are playing with an approved character, this game can be used toward RP perks! For it to count, your responses must be at least a few sentences in length, and you must respond to most of the rounds. If you miss more than two rounds, it cannot count!
Unless a prompt invites you to follow a different hound, you must stick with the hound you originally chose to follow in round one!

Round One Points

If you responded to Prompt 1 and followed the silver hound...2pts
If you responded to Prompt 1 and followed the gold hound...3pts
If you responded to Prompt 2 and followed the silver hound...3pts
If you responded to Prompt 2 and followed the gold hound...1pts

(Points are randomly generated. I went a little easy this round, in order to get everyone on the points map. You might not be so lucky next time~)

Forest Prompts

One
You follow your chosen hound down the path for a short time, always just out of reach. The hound adjusts its pace accordingly, purposely keeping itself out of your grasp. Suddenly, the hound pauses to glance back at you, a mischievous glint in its eye, and then without warning, dives into the underbrush to its right! Its a heavy wall of vines and branches, and stands about four feet high. You can't see over it to the other side, and you see no clear way around the thick foliage, and know that looking for a safer route might mean loosing the hound! From its concealed location, the hound yips, inviting you to follow.

Two
You follow your chosen hound down the path for a short time, always just out of reach. The hound adjusts its pace accordingly, purposely keeping itself out of your grasp. You start to notice there's some sort of rocky formation to your right, and if sensing where your attention has wandered to, the hound cuts off to bound up the rocks. After closer inspection, you see that, a little ways up the terrain is the mouth of a cave. It looks awfully dark in there...But the hound is fearless, and after glancing at you with a mischievous glint in its eye, it disappears into the darkness, yipping an invitation to follow.

Carnival Prompts

One
You follow your chosen hound, weaving through the crowd, always just out of reach. The hound adjusts its pace accordingly, purposely keeping itself out of your grasp. You're not sure where it means to take you, but it looks like you're heading toward the back of the Carnival, where a cluster of smaller tents lie. The area seems empty, but still, you feel as though, maybe, you shouldn't be here...Suddenly, the hound pauses to glance back at you, a mischievous glint in its eye, and then without warning, dives into a large and lavishly decorated tent. You hesitate outside to gather your bearings, and read, on the flap, the words "The Mademoiselle". She sounds rather important...Are you sure you should enter this woman's private quarters? From inside, the hound yips an invitation to follow.

Two
You follow your chosen hound, weaving through the crowd, always just out of reach. The hound adjusts its pace accordingly, purposely keeping itself out of your grasp. It seems to be wandering aimlessly, dodging passerby's and whipping its head from side to side. Is it searching for something? Suddenly, the hound pauses to glance at a wide tent, then back at you, a mischievous glint in its eye. Without warning, it dives inside, and when you approach the flap of the tent for closer inspection, you notice the words "Hall of Mirrors". A look inside reveals just that - a maze of mirrors, each one tricking the eye. How are you ever going to find your way through there?! From inside, the hound yips an invitation to follow.

Forest Prompt 2

Gosh, this hound was quick! Murphy jogged to keep up with it, but it was constantly out of reach. Its strange tail bobbed just beyond his grasp were he to try to reach for it. Surely it wanted him to follow it...but where were the going? The path continued to weave and wind, and slowly a rocky outcropping began to grow taller and taller to his right as they progressed. Finally it commanded his attention and, as soon as he held it in his gaze for more than a few seconds, the hound bounded up the craggy collection of boulders to a cave.

Murphy came to a stop, looking up at the hound and the cave as it disappeared inside. "Well...now what?" he asked as Kasar strolled along behind him, finally catching up.

The hound glanced up at the cave and laughed. Well...'laughed'. To Murphy the hound was chuckling, but to anyone else that might have been listening the massive creature would have just been panting.

We follow it, Murphy. Obviously it wants us to.

"But it's dark," the human said, looking at Kasar with a worried expression. The hound rolled his glowing eyes and almost instantly a decently sized fireball appeared over his head.

I realize I don't use my magic often, dear Summoner of mine, but you forget I'm most proficient in fire wielding.

"...well that's helpful," Murphy said, even though he didn't sound too excited. He let out a slow breath, though, and began the climb, the light from the fireball helping him pick his way up to the cave. When they both reached the landing he held out a hand to rest it on Kasar's back.

"Stay close," he said quietly, to which the hound gave a little nod, and together they stepped into the cave.

[Forest Prompt 2]

Dimitri's heart was pounding hard as he chased the hound down the winding forest path. His nose was bleeding a little and he was still dazed after getting turned around at the fork in the path. For a moment his mind wandered to the silver hound, and he wondered where it had gone. But there was no time to think as he was losing sight of the hound he was chasing. They were approaching an outcropping of rock. The golden hound ducked to the side quickly and almost seemed to have disappeared, but once Dimitri turned the corner he could see that it was the entrance to a cave. The hound turned to face him with a wild gleam in it's eyes, and the trotted off into the darkness.

"Does this lead to the underground?! Is that hound asking me to follow it? This can't be really happening...."

He held his breath, shaking with anticipation. This seemed dangerous, not to mention crazy, but he felt so compelled to follow the hound, so onward he went into the cave.

Saeta was quickly regretting her obnoxious decision. This hound was doing nothing but teasing her. Every time she would think victory was at hand, the silver hound would magically be ahead of her still. It was really starting to upset her.

"Hold still I want to touch youuuuu" she panted as her hand hit her side. Saeta often forgot that she was poorly out of shape when she made stupid and thoughtless decisions. Slowing down, she took her eyes off the prize for just a moment, trying to catch her breath as she heard bushes rattle.

Looking up Saeta caught a glimpse of the silver hounds long tail as it quickly slid into the brush.

"I've....got....you..." she inhaled loudly, "Now.." Slowly, she creeped towards the bush, hoping that this was going to be quick and easy. "Just reach in there an pet it..." she whispered to herself. Her hound, still un-amused, sit beside the bush with a highly judgmental look on his face, " Think that's wise?"

"Hush you," she huffed as she got on all fours examining the brush. "I don't have time to look around. NOW OR NEVER! INTO THE RABBIT HOLE!" she yelled at her hound as she began to twist and turn her way into the thick foliage.

ROUND THREE

Starting next week, there will only be two rounds per week, as opposed to the originally decided three. We have come to realize that three per week was a bit too ambitious! And we'd like to give you all more time to respond~ So rounds will now be taking place every Tuesday and Saturday!
Considering only 'Forest' followers are currently active, I will only be expanding upon the prompts that were responded to in the previous round. If you are a newcomer and would like to follow the 'Carnival' path, or started down the Carnival path and would like to continue, let me know and I will accommodate!

Round Two Points

If you followed the hound into the cave...-1pts
If you followed the hound into the underbrush...2pts

Forest Prompts - Cave

One
While it might have seemed dark from the outside, once inside, you find the gave aglow. Granted, you had to travel a ways, but once your eyes adjust and the bioluminescent fungi pop to life, you're able to see hundreds of stalagmite dangling precariously above. Despite the threat, it's actually a wonderful sight. That is, until the hound you've been stalking releases a booming howl, stirring the cave's residents. A flurry of bats explode into action, streaming toward the cave's entrance. The abrupt disturbance risks the stalagmites above! They rattle and crack, and once one falls, the rest follow.

Two
While it might have seemed dark from the outside, once inside, you find the gave aglow. Granted, you had to travel a ways, but once your eyes adjust and the bioluminescent fungi pop to life, you're able to see the nest of bear cubs ahead. They're rumbling and tumbling, practicing their growls and roars. Adorable, right? Sure...until mama bear decides you've ventured too close and emerges from the shadows, snarling and charging!

Forest Prompts - Underbrush

One
You wiggle through the underbrush, brushing aside branches and weeds, dodging ant mounds and hornets nests. Finally, after you're certain your face is sufficiently scratched and bruised, you enter upon a clearing, and find not one hound...but two. Silver and gold have joined anew, and stare at you curiously, smiling coyly. How did they rejoin so quickly?! They wait patiently for you to fully emerge and right yourself, allowing you a moment to adjust. Then, as they have proven to love, they split again, allowing you to choose a different course, should you wish it.

Two
You wiggle through the underbrush, brushing aside branches and weeds, dodging ant mounds and hornets nests. Finally, after you're certain your face is sufficiently scratched and bruised, you enter upon a clearing, and find the hound you had followed is nowhere to be seen. Instead, in its place, is a young buck. It peers across the clearing at you curiously, batting its eyes innocently. It looks quite peaceful, and comfortable in your presence. Maybe it will allow you to approach?
