Name: Murphy Seaton
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Physical Description: Broad shouldered, lightly tanned, and muscled from working his whole life, Murphy is a classic example of the common man. He stands at a decent six feet and one inch, has dark green eyes and messy auburn hair. Freckles dust his nose, cheeks, and shoulders, but are generally only visible when he's been working in the sun without a shirt for a while. His nose, broken when he was young, has a Roman shape to it. His face as a whole is fairly square, and his hands are large and calloused from years of working with them. He generally wears denim pants, heavy boots, and a cotton shirt while he toils away, but when the occasion calls for it, he can clean up very nicely.
Personality: Better with actions than words, Murphy is your classic strong and silent type. Some, quick to judge, might call him slow, since he doesn't speak often and it takes him a while to answer questions. Murphy is actually quite intelligent, though, and prefers to make sure he's saying things properly the first time so as not to waste his time and energy. Loyal to his family and friends, he is a good buddy to have when you're in a tight situation. He's very fond of giving and helping others, asking for very little in return. Selfless and silent, some people try to take advantage of him, but they only attempt once. Murphy isn't afraid to fight for what he believes in, and that includes his own dignity.

He knew he could use magic fairly early, and is most comfortable using the element of water.

History: Murphy grew up in a small house by the sea. His father - a fisherman - taught him and his six siblings the finer points of living life on the ocean. A storm claimed his father and oldest brother when he was merely six, but Murphy never came to blame the sea. He and his siblings, along with their mother, continued the life they had been taught from birth.

Eventually Murphy moved away from home, becoming a shipyard worker at the main port. He made sure to send a portion of his money home, to his family, and what he did save he used to rent a small room by the ships. It was in the port that he heard two people speaking quietly to each other about the bells. Curious, he listened in as he continued to package up a box that was being sent on a ship.

Bells. Tolling bells...he thought it was just from getting knocked in the head when he was little by a wayward plank of wood. But others seemed to hear it too. He began to pay more attention to the sound and finally, one night, he followed the sound to a mysterious tunnel. What he found there changed his life in more ways than one.

Hound's Name: Kasar
Gender: Male
Personality: Kasar is full of energy and loves being in motion. It's hard for him to sit still, and even when he's been asked to patiently wait, his tails can be seen flopping back and forth, or a paw might scratch at the ground. He is keen on making new friends at any opportunity, and could even be a bit overbearing to some. He loves listening to stories or hearing of past adventures of heroism. Despite his generally friendly and outgoing attitude, he is a force to be reckoned with when he is ready to fight. His mindset is you either win, or you go down fighting. Never give an inch, and you will succeed. Kasar's memory is excellent and, while he doesn't hold grudges, he certainly doesn't forget when someone has wronged him or his Summoner. The Hell Hound is also horribly vain: any comment about his appearance, good or bad, will go right to his head and stick with him for days.

As his pelt might suggest, Kasar is most comfortable with the element of fire.

The Summoning: Having realized the bells were not him going crazy, Murphy finally succumbed to following them just a few days after his twenty fifth birthday. The sound led him down into The Tunnels, and eventually to an odd cavern with paintings and carvings of people with huge dogs by their sides. There were also some very unnerving looking creatures that he didn't stare at for too long...they looked like they could move across the walls on their own.

The magic slowly took over Murphy and, before he knew it, he was staring into an oddly shimmering mist that hung before him. He had no idea how it got there, nor how he had a large ladle in his hand and a cauldron at his feet, but the voice that suddenly rang out in his head distracted him from those seemingly unimportant items for the time being.

/I said hello,/ the voice repeated, making Murphy drop the ladle. The voice, while not heard through his ears, still made the air around him hum as if spoken by a giant. It was deep and had an amused quality to it. Murphy found himself replying, to his own surprise, and he communicated with the voice for quite some time. He had the history of the Hell Hounds explained, confirmed that it was not a myth, and discovered he was speaking with one right now.

"I'm honored to be chosen for this," the human finally said after a few silent minutes of contemplation. "But I don't think you'd fit in very well where I currently live. I'd have to move..." Probably to a cottage elsewhere. There were apparently more of these beasts and their Summoners, but he had never seen one at the port before. He was sure it would cause a fuss.

/Then move. Uproot yourself and find a new home, with me./ The voice sounded almost hurt at the thought of being discarded simply because Murphy would have to move, and the man was quick to speak this time, rare for him, but certainly important.

"I shall. If that's what it takes to bring you here, I shall."

/Oh, good! Not to worry,/ the voice added, now consoling. /I'm very good at making friends. Wherever we go, you'll be sure to feel at home. I promise you that!/

The deal was made. Murphy introduced himself to the Hound, who replied with his own name - Kasar. Just a few minutes more and Murphy stood before a tiny dog like creature, Bright, glowing eyes stared up into his own green, and a tiny smile parted the Hell Hound's lips. It gave a very tiny bark - perhaps even a squeak - as Murphy bent down to pick him up.

"Well...this is going to be fun," he murmured quietly to himself, watching as the little creature yawned and fell asleep in his arms, exhausted.
