Welcome to Hell Bound! This guide is mostly a summary of all the other information found throughout the guild and front page, in a more condensed format. For more in-depth informaton we recommend that you read the other threads associated with the shop and pets, as well as the entirety of the front page of the main shop thread. With that said, please read on!

Read Everything
We strongly advise you to at least skim through the following threads:

- Additional Setting Information
- Playable Characters
- The Abyss, Hounds and Demons

These threads will give you the basic information necessary to roleplay a canon character in Canis. They explain what the setting of Canis is like, what the different characters are and their various aspects (what sets them apart), and a bit of the key aspects of The Abyss and Hounds which are the backbone of this shop.

The World
The shop takes place in the fictional country of Canis during the year 3479. Canis is a world much like our own that greatly resembles the the timeframe between 1870-1920. However, long ago, the world went through a technological standstill when demons attacked and threatened the existence of mankind itself. For over 150 years humankind went underground to escape the demons, until eventually a young woman summoned the first hound. The demons were driven back after being at war for over 50 years, and mankind once more began to rebuild.

It has been over 1,000 years since the last Hound has been seen, however. The knowledge has been lost, over the many years, as to how to summon the creatures -- and when the last summoner died in 2422 the secret was lost forever. Except, now, a strange tolling has begun that seems to resonate from deep underground, and only certain individuals seem able to hear it. No one is really sure what it might mean.... and slowly, the Hounds have begun to return.

You can read more about the world of Canis, it's people, magic, summoning, and playable characters in the other threads located within this one.

Characters
Human characters have their own sub-forum, and profiles must be approved before they can be roleplayed. This isn't a complicated or strict process, however -- we just want to make sure you've read the rules and understand the setting.

However, for simple introductory purposes these are the playable characters of Canis.

Normal Humans
These are ordinary people with absolutely no magic ability whatsoever. They will never have magic, or summon a hound. It is important to note, however, that Whysts and Summoners are still considered "human" - they just have specialized abilities.

All humans, whether regular, Whyst or Summoner, generally look the same. That is, they don't have special physical attributes you wouldn't expect to see in people today. No crazy hair or eye colors, or the like.

Whysts
Singular - Whyst
These humans have some small amount of magic and may be able to do simple things with their ability. They will never become Summoners, but they are able to bond with Familiars. Sometimes they may hear the tolling, but it is usually very distant and unclear.

Aelfir
Singular - Aelf
Also known as 'Summoners'. These individuals are usually mistaken as whysts until they are able to summon a Hound of their own. They always hear the tolling, and it is usually quite clear and distinct.

Hounds
These are the huge wolf-shaped spirits of the Abyss that bond to the Aelfir, or their "Summoners". They are as big as a small horse, and have rather powerful magic abilities, as well as great strength due to their size.

Familiars
These are the companions of Summoners and Whysts. They are lesser spirit creatures native to Canis, and are quite a bit more intelligent than normal animals, though not so much as humans or Hounds. Familiars are most useful for their innate ability to enhance their partner's magic ability.
There are currently three species: foxes, parrots and deer.

Magic
Aelfir exclusively have primary aspects in the Elemental Aspects, whereas Whysts exclusively have primary aspects in the Mystic Aspects.
While Aelfir might have some secondary ability in Mystic Aspects the degree of it is extremely limited compared to a Whyst with the same primary aspect. The same goes for Whysts using an Elemental Aspect as a secondary ability.

Whysts and Aelfir can crop up all over the place, from any social background. The event seems to be entirely random, with no hereditary line involved.

Elemental Aspects
Fire, Water, Air, Earth
Mystic Aspects
Healing, Scrying, Hexes & Charms, Hedgecraft

Obtaining Your First Pet
For those newbies who remain very active in the thread getting a first pet should be easy! We will hold frequent small events and there will sometimes be games and other activities to keep things moving. Aside from this there is guaranteed to be at least one flatsale every month, and larger events every 3-4 months (especially holiday seasons!). If you still have not obtained a pet, keep an eye out for newbie-only events such as newbie-only cauldrons given out from breedings.

That's all for now!

Remember, if you have any other questions please be sure to read all information here in the guild, as well as the front page of the main thread. If your answer is not there feel free to post in the main thread or PM the mule -- our staff and regulars would be more than happy to help!
