You are now in the west outgrowth of a giant hive, situated in the most expensive land-dwelling part of Civisect City. The first room you arrive in is the library. There are faint dirt tracks leading down the hallway, and down a set of stairs that lead to the basement.

West Outgrowth Locations
Library:
The library is dressed up, well-kept and quiet - as a library should be. It also appears to be a partial study, with one corner of the room containing a desk. There is a waste bin sitting adjacent to the desk on top of a thick rug, with crumpled up papers and a few other discarded items inside and on the floor nearby. Next to the desk is also a short metal filing cabinet, that is locked. On top of the desk, a husktop with a dimly glowing screen sits neatly - its tower tucked below. Behind the desk is a small picture frame featuring a beautiful Alternian landscape.

The rest of the library is as one would expect - a couple of plush chairs and endtables for relaxing and reading are close to the large bookshelves that line the walls. Between them are a few large picture frames.

There are currently no guests in this block.

Basement:
While the basement itself is spacious, the amount of boxes and dimly lit atmosphere makes it seem much more cramped than it is. The floor is manageable stone tile, while the walls seem to be simple and unadorned. Goods of various kinds are stored on shelving units. Overall, it is unremarkable... Except for the large iron cage stationed at the back of the basement.

Inside of the cage is a single grey lump. The lone mutantblood is huddled, still and unresponsive in the corner.

Exit:
You are welcome to investigate freely in the West Outgrowth during this time. To travel to the Central Hivestem, simply walk east. Keep going and you will reach the East Outgrowth, which contains the Armory and the Training Block. Walk east and then north to visit the North Outgrowth; the Dining Block and Nutrition Block make up this area. Walking east and then south will bring you to the South Outgrowth, which consists of the Ball Block and the Trophy Block. Note that if you would like to visit a different outgrowth before the end of the second hour, you will lose one of your daily investigations due to lost time and subtlety. Visiting the Central Hivestem will not use up any investigations.

Current West Outgrowth Activities
It is now the end of the party!
Your trolls have half an hour or so to get themselves organized before the trial begins!
Trial will begin on the evening reset of the 26th.

How to Play:
Welcome to a fun and exciting impromptu royal investigation! This is a RP-based event with simple mechanics, subterfuge, suaveness and no swamps whatsoever.

The investigation period takes place over periods known as “party hours”. Party hours refer to in-game time, not real-time. One “party hour” will take up a period of 3 (real-life) days. The end of each party hour will be clearly posted by the mule. At the end of each "party hour" all trolls will automatically regroup in the Central Hivestem and choose where to go from there.

Each day, your troll has the opportunity to investigate the murder and the suspicious characters of the party! They can do so through sleuthing via exploring locations and questioning suspects. Any time you do one of these things, it’s called an “investigation”. You have 3 investigations maximum per (real-time) day. These investigations will be refreshed daily by the mule. Investigations can’t be used retroactively, and can’t carry through if you don’t use them one day!

At the beginning of a party hour, your troll starts in the Central Hivestem. You can decide which outgrowth your troll decides to search – the North, South, East, or West Outgrowth. During each party hour you may freely enter and exit rooms as desired, so long as you are in the same Outgrowth. If you want to change Outgrowths, you will have to give up an investigation. However, at the start of a new party hour your troll returns to the Central Hivestem and may switch wings without penalty!

In the description of a room, you might see bolded text. Any bolded object can be investigated! If it is bolded in one party hour and then the next party hour it is not bolded, you cannot investigate it that party hour.

When you’d like to use your investigation on a bolded object or sub-location in a room, please write 100 words minimum of flavor text of your character interacting with said bolded item and quote the mule. (If you want to investigate multiple clues in one post, increase the wordcount by 100 for each clue.) If the result of the investigation yields a red exclamation mark like this: [!] then that means that you’ve found a distinctive clue! To claim your clues, visit the Central Hivestem and follow the instructions re: quiet review. There are mysteries aplenty, so sorting out the information is all about logic.

Some items found during investigation are unique, which means that if you find it first, congratulations! You are the only person who holds the information. In order to exchange clues or items that contain clues, trolls must do so in-character (the Central Hivestem is a prime place to do so). Even if you, the player, know of a clue that may exist, your character should not if they have no reason to. Be careful - prematurely calling out other guests may have negative side effects for your character or others in the hive if overheard, and subtlety and strategy is recommended.

RP is strongly encouraged during this meta! Strong RP going beyond the game mechanics will be rewarded. Due to busy staff schedules, please assume that the NPCs are not able to be interacted with outside of the investigation questions during this time. If you have a very special case and would like to interact with an NPC, please let us know privately.

At some point during his ride over, Leeroi had exchanged his massive mask for a flimsy paper one, finding out the hard way that riding his lusus without decent vision was a big mistake. Only, slipping down the stairs into the basement, Leeroi froze up as he found the one and only Shishi Schrad watching over the mutants. His body went stiff at the realization that he was now identifiable, and worried more that Sir would recognize him from his blunder before. Watching from afar, he wondered what was going on in the adult's head. Surely, his blunder was insignificant in light of the more recent events. He took a deep breath and remembered that he had to play it cool, and that he had to keep focused. If he could catch the culprit of this mystery, Schrad and Puchen would just have to be proud of him, right? He assured himself that much.

The second thing to catch his eye was the cage the mutantbloods were kept in. Why would there already be a cage in Erilyn's hive? It wasn't totally out of the ordinary for a troll of Erilyn's wealth and stature to own strange, dangerous beasts, but it did strike Leeroi as unusual for the soft-faced diva. No, it seemed more like something that that dead seadweller would own. Leeroi pursed his lips, bringing a hand to his chin. He moved past Schrad to investigate the cage more closely, avoiding frightening the mutantbloods to the best of his ability, moving around slowly. Their bites weren't contagious, right?

Trying to keep a cool head, Leeroi turned his attention up at Sir Schrad. He wished he had his hoofbeast mask back, at least that covered the blush on his face. Taking a moment to collect his thoughts to avoid any tongue-twister embarrassments, he inquired about her investigation. "Sir Schrad," He said, stiffening up reflexively and giving a small salute. "Did someone send you to interrogate?" He asked, hands fidgeting with the seams of his gloves. "I could imagine you'd be the best for the job, but... I also think you'd like to take matters into your own hands." Leeroi glanced up at the redblood, eyes sparkling. Despite his patient silence, he continued to fidget, unable to completely hold his excitement.

You look past the mutantbloods in the cage to investigate it further, seeking to identify more about what has transpired. [!]

Yep! Quote when you're investigating a location/object. You don't need to quote if you're JUST interrogating. If you find a [!] then you can "claim" it in the Central Hive! AND LOOK AT THAT YOU DID IT

Nahori had no idea what she was doing. This was supposed to be an average night, uncomfortable, but otherwise uneventful. She would awkwardly mingle, that's what mother wanted, and go home. That's all there should've been to it. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

Oh, how she wanted to get out of these gaudy, itchy clothes. They didn't suit her at all, not that she had a say in wearing them. It wasn't as if she had much of a say in her life in any situation, and sometimes that bothered her, but most of the time it didn't (or so she'd convinced herself). Nahori wasn't supposed to think, she was simply supposed to do as she was told.

So here she was, doing as the queen had commanded, aiding in the investigation. How you were supposed to do that, she had no idea. This wasn't exactly a strong suit of hers. Guineamom had tried to urge her into a more populated area, but the orangeblood found herself drawn towards the silence of the library. She'd hoped to find herself alone, but one of the adults from the head table was here. She had no idea who she was, and a nervous orange flush crept to her cheeks as she quite obviously attempted to avoid him, pacing around the room like he wasn't even there.

Okay, stay cool, she told herself. All she had to do was turn a few things over. If something seemed suspicious, she'd tell mom. That would work, right?

Hovering near the desk, she peeked under it, around it, hugging her cape close to her as she went to keep from stepping on it. The waste bin was nearby, so she checked that, too. Someone wouldn't be foolish enough to toss evidence in plain sight, would they? She wasn't so sure, but maybe... What really caught her attention, though, was the small picture frame behind the desk. Scooping it up, fingers delicately grasping, she stared long and hard at the landscape before turning it over in her hands.

Sitting down in front of the mutants' cage, Leeroi pressed his palms together and held them to his face in thought, watching the children carefully as he decided what to say. Pondering, he realized that the two were probably terrified, what with the threat of their culling being almost definite, despite whether or not they committed any crimes. He wouldn't be able to get any answers out of them with all of their blubbering, so he supposed he ought to try to calm them down first. That's what Psykgi would do, after all. He just needed to pretend to be her for a moment, and act all calm and understanding and stuff. He opened his mouth, talking very slowly and calmly. "So," He asked, "How are you feeeeeeeeeling?" Leeroi gesticulated vaguely, hand rotating an excessive number of times as he posed his question to the mutantbloods.

He paused, watching them carefully, pressing his fingers to his lips in thought. Asking about feelings wasn't good enough. He had to relate to them, as scary of an idea that was. But he was brave. He'd press on, for the sake of everyone else. Smiling at the mutantblood, he leaned a little closer. "That purpleblood got you pretty good, didn't she?" He said. "I've had my fair share of highblood beatdowns, too. One time I got knocked totally unconscious by this lady for making fun of her makeup. I'm still missing some teeth from it, see?" Leeroi opened his mouth wide and pointed to the gaps where new teeth were growing in. Closing his mouth, he laughed to himself, looking down and then back up at the mutantbloods.

"What were you doing under that table, anyways? Seems like you were askin' for trouble by being there. This is a pretty high profile event to sneak into, after all. Doesn't seem smart, to me." Leeroi smirked at the thought. He never really cared about doing the smart thing either. Looks like he could relate to these kids, after all.

Elidae aimlessly made for the Library, completely clueless. The scene occuring shortly before still made her stomach lurch, but she was determined to help find the culprit of whoever culled that fancy looking seadweller.

It seemed as though another young troll such as herself had made their way to the library as well, poking around the desk. Waiting until the orangeblood moved, Elidae slipped over towards the husktop, face illuminating by the light glow coming from the screen. She gazed absentmindedly, her little finger tapping lightly on one of the keys. Not having one at home, Elidae always begged her lusus for one, but a husktop was a luxury that a yellowblood child rarely possessed. It was something she put on her extra special-must-save-for lists for all the extra beetles she made at the salon from tips.

Eyes drifting around, she gazed at the bookshelves curiously, running her hand along the spines of the books. She read lightly over the titles, unsure what she was looking for. "Hm." She wasn't that much of a reader herself, though something about books and the atmosphere of libraries brought her comfort. "Hmm?" Nestled neatly between two larger ones, a small, dark blue book with gold decorative lettering on the cover caught her eye. With a bit of whatever strength she had, Elidae pulled it down from the shelf and began observing it. She turned it over and back, over, and back. Flipping through the pages, she realized most of the words she couldn't understand. "Uhhhhhgggg..." The fine print also made her eyes cross and give her a slight headache, so she placed the book back into its spot.

The scent of smoke wafted in her direction, compelling her to shift her attention. A Tigwyn Ioyana stood beside a window, casually sifting through some books, cigarette lit, but he seemed completely at ease. How, though? Was it just for show? Or was he truly as composed as he appeared? Most others were in a state of panic, yet here the sharply dressed orangeblood remained. "Hey. Fancy seeing you here." She joked as she approached him with a bounce in her step, but her smile was dim. She eyed the old, dusty book in his hands as he dusted it off, opening her mouth to say something, but felt a tickle in her nose that resulted in a sneeze. "Chuu! Heh, 'scuse me. Everyone seems to be on edge... how are you doing?" The inquiry was curious and lighthearted, but she desired the truth behind his calm demeanor.

Upon investigating the desk, you notice some interesting papers and envelopes scattered here and there. You reach for one. [!]

The wastebin has a number of confetti-like documents in it. You take care to turn off the shredder before sticking your hand in. [!]

Behind the small picture frame, you find a hidden security camera! The light is red.

You head straight for the husktop. It's lit up with a very bright image that attracts your eye. [!]

You scour the bookshelf. There are plenty of books you'd expect in this fine high-class library. But, on the bottom corner shelf you notice something carefully tucked away and investigate. [!]

Chiara had Zindel's arm hooked in hers and was busy fast walking to the Basement. "Im so glad you agreed to this date, Zindel. Your company is by far top tier." She complemented him, trying not to look like she was rushing to find answers or trolls or clues at all. Upon arrival she quickly disengaged from her date and to him said, "You have an intelligent mind for questions. Why not go talk to Shishi about the incident?" and proceeded to snoop. The children looked interesting. Mutant bloods huh? Chiara mildly wondered if they were for sale... That would be quite a rare specimen. Maybe with enough beetles she could even get both of them. Chiara shook her head a bit and focused. There were things to do. Chiara snuck around to the back of the cage to where the lump of the other child was. She poked it a bit, looked at its clothing, in general inspected it. Sadly she could not get her hands all the way inside to inspect it further, but then again, maybe mutant bloods bite. While seemingly minding her own business just looking the place over, Chiara checked out the shelving unit and the stability of the walls. This was a basement, what better place to hide secret passages than down here?

You can only investigate inanimate objects/locations via quoting the mule! NPCs cannot be investigated this way and must be communicated with via asking questions! You therefore have an unused investigation.

The metal shelving carries many household necessities, one of which catches your eye. [!]

You investigate the wall behind the cage containing the mutantbloods, and are surprised at what you find. [!]

Leeroi tapped his legs, seemingly out of ideas on how to further question the mutantbloods. He scanned the room, got bored of sitting, and finally stood up again, wandering around the room. Tapping his pen to his lips, he circled the room, paying close attention to the floor of the basement. Basements always had a history, didn't they? He fully expected to find some bloodstains or something laying about, showing a bit of history. Or possibly, something tucked in the corner, out of sight. Yes, a basement was the perfect place to hide clues.

He perked his head up at the sound of other trolls entering the room, turning to watch Chiara and Zindel descend the stairs. Leeroi watched them for a moment, unsure of the identity of the blueblood, but the legs on the redblood were immediately distinctive. "Zin!" Leeroi gave a curt wave and a tiny wink. It was good to see the dancer again. "Who's your pal?" He asked, pointing his pen at the blueblood.

Lorata and MeduMa made their way into the west outgrowth, the little seadweller peering around the library with a curious hum. There was an orangeblood kid she didn't know yet and-Oh, there was Elidae, yes. She'd been pretty sure her new friend had come this way, but the confirmation was nice. Considering how awful events had turned, she wasn't going to count out the possibility of people up and disappearing! A little relieved, she started in on her own investigation, trailing past bookshelves only to pause and squint up at the large picture frames in between them. She considered each of them a moment, then swept a glance over comfortable chairs to see if anything else caught her eye.

She shrugged eventually, deciding to head back over towards Elidae, who had apparently found that adult again. What was his name again? Ioyana, right! He seemed to be taking this really well, compared to what she'd seen of the other adults before leaving the dining block. That was pretty interesting for sure. She flashed Elidae a quick smile, approving of the choice of the question him, and then piped up to get some questions of her own in.

"You seem pretty calm about what happened! Have you already got an idea of what's going on?" She still didn't really know anything about this orangeblood except for his name and that he thought she and Elidae were lovely. But he was an adult, so he'd had plenty of time to do very impressive things, and for all she knew he might be some kind of detective, already on the case. Of course he'd share all his info with them now and they'd help him see what he'd missed and solve it and- Ah, he was answering! Immediately she nodded. Yes, of course it was a good question, definitely too convenient...convenient? Tilting her head, she payed a little closer attention to his reasoning.

"Ah, but what about the man who died? Did you know anything more specific about him?" She didn't really know anything, and it seemed like such a shame since Epratt had been a seadweller just like her. An adult one! If someone hadn't murdered him, he might've been one of the very best candidates for a statue! Any little bit of info could help avenge him!

After examining the nutrition block and questioning Gerard, Aconan had headed to the next block. Well next so much as you could choose between four cardinal directions. But frankly, well...Aconan had heard the mutantbloods were this way, and as much as she detested them, she was none-the-less intrigued. Plus, a library. Aconan wasn't particularly into books herself, though she did consider them a useful resource, but there might be pertinent information there. So, library first, then basement.

As she entered the library, she couldn't help but be impressed. She had to say, this hive was pretty spectacular. Oh, and there was the mysterious orangeblood, one of the adults she hadn't recognized or been able to place. (Though the psionic-like scarring suggested that he had seen military work, but then the non-military outfit...) Hmm. Maybe he would know something. Waiting patiently for the other children to finish their questioning, especially the seadweller, she approached.

"What do you know about Gerard?"

The question was perhaps a little abrupt, but....hey.

After recieving her answer, she gave a short nod and a quick thanks, before heading to the basement. Where....there were a lot of people, wow. Aconan's hand temporarily tightened on Loupsus's ribbon collar before she forced herself to relax as she saw Schrad. Fear had no place for a hunterrorist, after all! Her brow puzzled slightly as she saw the cage however - why would there be a cage ready-made? It didn't look new. Drifting over, she had a closer look at the cage before making a polite enquiry to Schrad.

"Gerard - what do you know about him?"

After the information was recieved Aconan nodded, making mental notes.
