You are now in the east outgrowth of a giant hive, situated in the most expensive land-dwelling part of Civisect City. The two doors on each side of the hall lead into the armory and the training block.

East Outgrowth Locations
Armory:
The armory is a simple and efficient room, but in true Awassi style has some manner of presentation to it. Through the heavy doorway similar to a vault lies the pride and joy of every Alternian home. The well-lit atmosphere and variety of locked displays make the room seem more like a museum than an active armory, only disrupted by a single flickering light up above that has been neglected to be changed. Amongst the finery in the room are a shining blade rack, outfitted with sabers, daggers and other mid-sized and small blades of all kinds. Across from it, fittingly, there is a gun case with a few choice antiques - standard issue from the Alternian Military. A simple table for cleaning sits adjacent to this case, with a bottle of metal polish on top. At the end of the block sits a chest with a heavy padlock and a display case containing a Military Uniform.

There are currently no guests in this block.

Training Block:
The training block is an impressive area for physical wellness, and currently looks as ruffled as the party guests It smells of rubber, blood, sweat and tears that accompany classic troll-training, and is in very good shape. A tiled floor and a spacious room pattern give plenty of room for exercise equipment, athletic mats tossed about and a large area for practicing sparring in the middle of the room complete with training dummies, a few of which have been knocked over. There is a private ablution block for showering attached, which is currently locked. Outside of this block against the wall is a small bench and laundry baskets for clean and dirty towels and clothes. On the opposite side, a huge white medical chest sits for typical troll sparring emergencies and other ailments. The lid has been knocked off a bin of sparring gear in the corner.

There are currently no guests in this block.

Exit:
You are welcome to investigate freely in the South Outgrowth during this time. To travel to the Central Hivestem, simply walk west. Keep going and you will reach the West Outgrowth, which contains the Library and Basement. Walk west and then south to visit the South Outgrowth; the Ballblock and Trophy Block make up this area. Walking west and then north will bring you to the North Outgrowth, which consists of the Library and the Basement. Note that if you would like to visit a different outgrowth before the end of the second hour, you will lose one of your daily investigations due to lost time and subtlety. Visiting the Central Hivestem will not use up any investigations.

Current East Outgrowth Activities
It is now the end of the party!
Your trolls have half an hour or so to get themselves organized before the trial begins!
Trial will begin on the evening reset of the 26th.

How to Play:
Welcome to a fun and exciting impromptu royal investigation! This is a RP-based event with simple mechanics, subterfuge, suaveness and no swamps whatsoever.

The investigation period takes place over periods known as “party hours”. Party hours refer to in-game time, not real-time. One “party hour” will take up a period of 3 (real-life) days. The end of each party hour will be clearly posted by the mule. At the end of each "party hour" all trolls will automatically regroup in the Central Hivestem and choose where to go from there.

Each day, your troll has the opportunity to investigate the murder and the suspicious characters of the party! They can do so through sleuthing via exploring locations and questioning suspects. Any time you do one of these things, it’s called an “investigation”. You have 3 investigations maximum per (real-time) day. These investigations will be refreshed daily by the mule. Investigations can’t be used retroactively, and can’t carry through if you don’t use them one day!

At the beginning of a party hour, your troll starts in the Central Hivestem. You can decide which outgrowth your troll decides to search – the North, South, East, or West Outgrowth. During each party hour you may freely enter and exit rooms as desired, so long as you are in the same Outgrowth. If you want to change Outgrowths, you will have to give up an investigation. However, at the start of a new party hour your troll returns to the Central Hivestem and may switch wings without penalty!

In the description of a room, you might see bolded text. Any bolded object can be investigated! If it is bolded in one party hour and then the next party hour it is not bolded, you cannot investigate it that party hour.

When you’d like to use your investigation on a bolded object or sub-location in a room, please write 100 words minimum of flavor text of your character interacting with said bolded item and quote the mule. (If you want to investigate multiple clues in one post, increase the wordcount by 100 for each clue.) If the result of the investigation yields a red exclamation mark like this: [!] then that means that you’ve found a distinctive clue! To claim your clues, visit the Central Hivestem and follow the instructions re: quiet review. There are mysteries aplenty, so sorting out the information is all about logic.

Some items found during investigation are unique, which means that if you find it first, congratulations! You are the only person who holds the information. In order to exchange clues or items that contain clues, trolls must do so in-character (the Central Hivestem is a prime place to do so). Even if you, the player, know of a clue that may exist, your character should not if they have no reason to. Be careful - prematurely calling out other guests may have negative side effects for your character or others in the hive if overheard, and subtlety and strategy is recommended.

RP is strongly encouraged during this meta! Strong RP going beyond the game mechanics will be rewarded. Due to busy staff schedules, please assume that the NPCs are not able to be interacted with outside of the investigation questions during this time. If you have a very special case and would like to interact with an NPC, please let us know privately.

Eostre wandered into the training block, reminded of her own training block in her hive. She casually wondered what weapon Erilyn used that they would train for. She sniffed the air and wrinkled her nose. Yep, smells like a training block all right. She walked to the center of the room and examined the training dummies. Really, what did a singing star need so much equipment for? They were rather toned, so perhaps it was just to keep their lithe body. Or maybe... there was an extra reason for the dummies. She touched them lightly with her gloved hands, looking for openings and unusual properties.

Moving toward the little ablution block, Eostre tried the locked door, just in case. With no luck, her eyes wandered to the laundry baskets lined against the wall. Could something be hidden in there? She was once again glad for her gloves as she neatly sifted through the baskets. Clean and dirty. But a clue could easily be hidden amongst the old clothing and towels, and she wasn't afraid of getting dirty if it got her what she wanted. Eostre wondered how many towels Erilyn needed to dry their hair, with how large and voluminous it was. For good measure, Eostre looked under the baskets too, in case they had hidden compartments.

Finally, Eostre looked across the room she spied a white medical chest and she lit up. If poison was used by the murderer, perhaps it was something from inside there. It was close enough to be the mysterious source of whatever killed the seadweller, for sure. If not, maybe there was something useful, like bandages or peroxide that she could take. She opened the chest and rummaged through, looking for clues and useful little items she could pick out. Knowing how complex and complete her medical chest was at her hive, she figured Erilyn had to have some good stuff in theirs.

As Eostre wandered the room, she kept an eye on the ceiling for things that might be security cameras, keeping a careful watch for other trolls who might be entering the room as well. Bright lights, mechanical looking things. Anything that might tip her off to its location. If she could find the cameras first, it'd be that much easier to get rid of them.

      [+] Kursha Vidari

After meeting with Eostre, and agreeing to split up for their search...
Kursha made his way from the central hivestem to the east outgrowth. He tried to slip in quietly, but the heavy vault-like door closed with a soft boom behind him. The sound drew the attention of the room's sole occupant, a familiar blueblood. As she turned to face him, adjusting the hem of her coat, Kursha worked to keep the scowl off of his face. Of course, she would be here. He did not know what he had expected.

There was a fraction of a pause while he debated on his next move. He could work around the Major and inspect the room for any clues. Then again, he had a rare opportunity here: revenge for all those sweeps ago. He could move in stealthily, strike up a conversation, and learn her weak points. When that was done, it was a simple matter of exacting justice. He had nearly died because of her, and vengeance was long overdue. He had no intention of forgoing it.

In the midst of preparing his attack, Kursha suddenly stopped. A sense of self-awareness dawned over him. He wanted vengeance, true, and nothing could ever change that, but what would he accomplish by acting out now? Satisfaction? But at what cost? One troll was already dead this evening; pursuing his personal agenda only stood to muddy things further, not to mention throw suspicions on himself. Was vengeance on Puchen worth potentially sacrificing success?

... No.

He had an opportunity to recoup from his losses. He could not afford to bungle that by charging off on every impulse. Finding the murderer was top priority.

Puchen continued to glare at him, body language defensive. It occurred to Kursha that he had paused for longer than he intended. Breaking eye contact, he raised the side of his fist to his mouth and cleared his throat. That was embarrassing. Gliding towards the blueblood as though he had not just held an impromptu staring contest with her, he did not bother with his usual show of bravado and nonchalance. But nor did he bother to give her the salute that her station warranted.

“So,” Kursha began. A part of him longed to needle her, but that would go against his new resolve. He would get straight to the point to avoid any temptation. “You seem to be keeping a pretty cool think pan about all this. That your military training or...?” Allowing his words to trail, he offered her a half-grin.

- - -

Leaving the Major to her own devices—a full dialogue was a strain on his willpower, and she seemed content to drop the conversation anyway—Kursha struck out to investigate the rest of the armoury. His gaze passed over the various instruments on the walls, as he paced the perimeter of the room, feeling restless. At last he stopped at the gun case. Now really wasn't the time, but... He stole a peek, examining the various firearms as well as the case itself. If he was going to be self-indulgent he might as well also be productive. After all, he still had his secondary objective to consider.

Halfway through his investigation, Kursha turned to glare up at the light overhead. While consistent for the most part, the occasional flicker and buzz it let out played his nerves. Every time the room dimmed, he half-expected the lights to go out completely again. Brooding, he thought sourly of the host. As well off as Erilyn was, could they not afford to fix one damned light bulb? They knew they had guests. But maybe it was just loose or something. Stepping away from the gun case, Kursha moved to the centre of the room to position himself under the light. Reaching up, he flicked at the glass with a fingernail.

Feeling satisfied with what she found, and frustrated with the locked medical chest, Eostre turned to leave the training block and head over to the other block in this section of the hive, the armory. Before she did, she decided to check the folded athletic mats. Might as well be thorough in her investigation if nothing else! The training block was pretty small compared to other rooms, so at least it didn't have much to check. Eostre tried to open the mats and look inside, and see if it held any clues for her. Maybe there was something in between the mats...

Finished, she left and crossed into the other room, where Major Puchen was. With a polite nod, Eostre went to searching about the room. There was time to ask questions to the disgraced general after she checked this room for clues. There were so many locked cases of weapons, but the shiny blade rack caught her attention. What fine blades... if she didn't prefer punching, she would love to own a few lovely swords. Maybe she could get some. Erilyn certainly had a nice collection, and she found herself a bit jealous. She should collect more boxing memorabilia.

Next, Eostre walked to the display case, that held a uniform. Ah, well that explained it. Of course going into the military was pretty much compulsory, but it was hard to believe that someone as delicate as Erilyn must have once been in the military. They kept good care of their uniform it seemed. No wonder Major Puchen picked this room to stake out, it was a military dream in here! She looked around the case, feeling for some secrets, carefully looking for anything unusual about it. Maybe there was something more to the uniform than it seemed...

You make your way to the athletic mats, which have been folded up and out of the way. At first there doesn't seem to be anything between the mats or under them, but then you notice a small slit cut into the side of one of the mats. You stick your hand in... [!]

The blades are plenty sharp and they all look recently cleaned. Something peculiar strikes you. [!]

You get closer to the display case and take in its contents - a military troll uniform. [!]

After arriving in the East outgrowth, Zindel shuffled through the area, first checking in the armory-- Only to see the familiar face of the Captain and slowly closing the door afterward. He was not about to get into another encounter with a highblood. It took him more effort than needed to try and speak to the greenblooded TV personality-- So instead, he shuffled toward the training block, where he saw no one around. That either meant it was already ransacked or no one had arrived yet. Tugging the red envelope out of his coat pocket, the redblood carefully lifted the laundry bin and slipped the item underneath it, slowly placing the bin back down.
He entered the room and started observing things now, being careful to not disturb the scene. It could have clues, after all...

Initially, Aconan had been impressed by the sheer scale and size of Erilyn's hive. She was very well-to-do for a greenblood, and whilst it wasn't military success, Aconan felt that it was still a good job, well done. But...she couldn't help being suspicious of the greenblood. There was no way the mutants got in by themselves, and the writing on the blackboard and Tigwn's input confirmed her suspicions - someone had helped these trolls get in..Maybe she should ask about her...but then...hmm.

Anyway, the initial feeling had faded, being replaced with irritation - it was just too difficult to get /around/ now - She'd wanted to check for info with all the guests, not just one or two, which meant traipsing around all the blocks. Aconan growled under her breath as she kept going, Loupsus chuffing in sympathy from beneath her. I mean, with Loupsus's top speed they could have got EVERYWHERE, but it was no good running everywhere - both in terms of sublety and politeness, it was a no-no. And Aconan had no desire to draw attention either - even with the amount of lowbloods at the party (and wasn't that suprising...) this was still very much a highblood's do.

Either way, she'd made her way to the East Outgrowth now - surely there must be something of interest in here. As she spotted the Armory, she decided to approach Puchen, and also investigate the display case with a uniform in.

"Excuse me, Ma'am. Would you happen to know anything about Gerard?"

She resisted the urge to whimper as the military highblood looked displeased, and instead listened carefully to the information given. Still left with the pervading feeling she had displeased the older troll she scurried off to the training room, not even looking before opening the door and bumping into the back another troll who was stood still, apparently observing - perhaps like Aconan should have done before running in. Yelping, Aconan sprung backwards from the collision, then whined in apology, waiting for the inevitable reprimand and possible consequences should they be a highblood.

(Silently, she prayed to herself they'd be a lowblood, or at least a midblood.)

As Zindel observed the area, he felt a hard bump on his leg instantly leaping away in slight fright-- What the ********?! Was someone trying to attack him? Or-- Oh. It was just a wiggler, greenblooded at that, with a skirt and short hair, whining sorries and having also jumped back from the impact. Zindel stared at her, slightly open mouthed before pulling himself out of his stupor. "I-- No, it's..." He'd never been placed in this situation before, being apologized by a highblood. It felt a little strange, like he wasn't in his own skin. Swallowing, the redblood rubbed his neck and adjusted his elaborate vest, looking toward the other and scratching his nose scar slightly. "I, uh. It's alright. Don't apologize." He gave them a slight pat on the head between their horns, unsure of how to deal with her-- It was all very foreign for him. "Please. I'm alright, greenblood. Are you?" He stood a little straighter. It was only formality. This would finish soon, possibly.

Aconan felt all the air leave her lungs in a relieved sigh as she realised it was only a redblood. Whining paused and panic gone, she frowned slightly as she recognised that symbol from somewhere. She remembered thinking about how it was cool because it was circular like hers. Where had that been... attention caught by this, she was quiet as the other troll spoke, at least until he patted her head. She blinked, and then smiled shyly at Zindel, giving a pleased 'chuff' of air.

Redblood he might have been, but he was older than she was, and if she was remembering correctly....

"I'm okay. You....you fought in the caverns with Captain Kursha, right? I remember your symbol! You were brave and loyal."

Aconan nodded to herself. Yes, she remembered this troll. She didn't remember much, but they had fought for Queen and Empire, and that meant they were a good ally to have. Especially since they were invited here this evening - if the Queen had seen fit to invite them, then obviously they were suitable company.

Eostre glanced around the room. The locked chest, although probably nothing more than another annoyance like the medical chest, could possibly hold something useful. She crouched by the chest, adjusting her stole. She inspected the heavy looking padlock and touched it gently, looking for anything unusual. If she could just find one little thing... she would be much more at ease. The blueblood rattled the chain of the padlock idly, wondering if it was old, or new. Standing up again, she poked at the chest with her foot and sighed. At least this room smelled nicer than the training block.

Eostre turned toward Major Puchen. She guessed it was time to ask her a few questions while she was in the room. It was kind of rude not to, right? She walked a few paces closer, just enough to be in a proper range to talk, and cleared her throat."You know a lot about the other guests don't you, Major? What can you tell me about Erilyn?" They certainly kept more weapons and had a better training block than she would have guessed by looking. But then again, one could say the same about her, couldn't they?

After receiving her answer, Eostre grinned and asked another question. "Well... how about Gerard? I hear quite a bit of scandalous information about him in my circles," she said. She nearly approached him earlier, but something about him unnerved her... was there some truth to the rumors? At the least, it seemed no one particularly cared for him, including the Major. If he was such an outcast, it could be a motive. Eostre found that bit particularly interesting, especially regarding her clues she found. He seemed... almost sinister. She hoped that little girl he'd invited to his parties would reconsider and find some other rich highblood party to go to. Maybe one of hers.

Captain... Kursha? Was that what the commanders name was? Zindel honestly hadn't cared, but this troll seemed extremely interested in that. The second the greenblood mentioned the words brave and loyal, the teen merely stared at the kid with an amused expression, hiding his disbelief behind it. Wow, this troll was so far from the truth it almost felt bad to nod and offer her a half smile from the recognition. "I-- Yeah. I fought with you guys." It was now that he dimly remembered the other, fighting against the rebellion, just like him. He didn't know how to feel, anymore. Safety, or friendship? Zin closed his eyes in thought. A small shred of guilt slid into him. "I'm... not brave, though." Loyal was something he wasn't either, but that was certainly not something he'd actually say in public. At least by saying he was a coward he'd be able to possibly drive the other troll away. It was better to keep his mouth shut and look pretty. He didn't need any unwanted attention.

He glanced around the area, suddenly remembering the situation at hand. Murder. That had happened, right. It wasn't really a big thing to him, but apparently highblooded trolls made a huge deal about it when it was, well, a highblood. He looked to the greenblood and carefully eyed around the room before looking down at the kid. "Are you searching for information on the death, too?" He asked, arching an eyebrow questionably. "I've been trying to find some, but it's... A little tough, on my own." He sighed, glancing around and trying to make it seem like he was hopeless. "Do you happen to know anything, miss...?" It was worth a shot. Maybe they could exchange info.
